RESUMEN

The Hippo pathway plays an important role in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation; it is a crucial regulatory pathway in organ development and tumor growth. Infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) increases the risk of developing gastric cancer. In recent years, significant progress has been made in understanding the mechanisms by which H. pylori infection promotes the development and progression of gastric cancer via the Hippo pathway. Exploring the Hippo pathway molecules may yield new diagnostic and therapeutic targets for H. pylori-induced gastric cancer. The current article reviews the composition and regulatory mechanism of the Hippo pathway, as well as the research progress of the Hippo pathway in the occurrence and development of H. pylori-related gastric cancer, in order to provide a broader perspective for the study and prevention of gastric cancer.

RESUMEN

RATIONALE: Mutations of the NKX2-1 gene are associated with brain-lung-thyroid syndrome, which is characterized by benign hereditary chorea, hypothyroidism, and pulmonary disease with variable presentation. Surfactant protein C (SFTPC) gene mutations result in chronic interstitial lung disease in adults or severe neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. PATIENT CONCERNS: Recurrent hypoxemia was observed shortly after birth in a baby at a gestational age of 40 weeks and birth weight of 3150 g. The need for respiratory support gradually increased. He had hypothyroidism and experienced feeding difficulties and irritability. DIAGNOSIS: Genetic examination of the peripheral blood revealed combined mutations of the NKX2-1 and SFTPC genes. INTERVENTIONS: The patient was administered respiratory support, antibiotics, low-dose dexamethasone, supplementary thyroxine, venous nutrition, and other supportive measures. OUTCOMES: The patient's guardian stopped treatment 3 months after commencement of treatment, due to the seriousness of his condition and the patient died. LESSONS: Combined mutations of NKX2-1 and SFTPC genes are very rare. Thus, idiopathic interstitial pneumonia with hypothyroidism and neurological disorders require special attention.

RESUMEN

A distyryl boron dipyrromethene based photosensitiser substituted with 1,2,4,5-tetrazine and alkyne moieties was prepared. Through site-specific bioorthogonal reactions with the complementary functional tags anchored on the membrane of A431 human epidermoid carcinoma cells, this versatile photosensitiser exhibited enhanced cellular uptake and photocytotoxicity. The bioorthogonal ligation was also demonstrated in tumour-bearing nude mice.

RESUMEN

All the living beings live and evolve under geomagnetic field (25-65 µT). Besides, opportunities for human exposed to different intensities of static magnetic fields (SMF) in the workplace have increased progressively, such SMF range from weak magnetic field (<1 mT), moderate SMF (1 mT-1 T) to high SMF (>1 T). Given this, numerous scientific studies focus on the health effects and have demonstrated that certain magnetic fields have positive influence on our skeleton systems. Therefore, SMF is considered as a potential physical therapy to improve bone healing and keep bones healthy nowadays. Here, we review the mechanisms of effects of SMF on bone tissue, ranging from physical interactions, animal studies to cellular studies.
