RESUMEN

The aim of the study was to assess the impact of cytoflavin and bioflavin therapy on the dynamics of clinical and psychophysiological status of patients with Osteochondrosis. 150 patients with osteochondrosis of a backbone were investigated. The patients were divided into two groups using method of randomization: the main group - 75 patients - and control group -75 patients. All patients received a standard treatment (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, myorelaxants, chondroprotectors, as well as physiotherapy). The main group in addition to standard treatment received biofeedback therapy and cytoflavin. The results showed that cytoflavin and biofeedback therapy significantly enhanced the positive effect of standard treatment and significantly increased the quality of life of patients. It is recommended to treat elderly patients with neurological complications of spinal osteochondrosis with Cytoflavin in combination with biofeedback therapy Before prescribing biofeedback therapy and Cytoflavin it is necessary to take into account a number of positive and negative predictors of their effectiveness in reducing severity of pain syndrome.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study was assessment of the effect of cytoflavin preparation inclusion in surgical treatment of patients with malignant neoplasms of small pelvic organs and diabetes mellitus. A prospective examination of 51 patients aged 56 to 76 years suffering from diabetes mellitus and malignant neoplasms of the pelvic organs was performed. Patients were divided into two groups: the first group consisted of 27 patients whose adaptive potential was characterized by tension of adaptation mechanisms, the second one - 24 patients with poor adaptation. In turn, in each group, patients were divided into subgroups depending on the treatment regimen: in the main subgroup of the first group (14 people) the treatment program was supplemented with cytoflavin (10 ml 2 times a day), in the main subgroup of the second group were 13 patients with cytoflavin supplement (20 ml 2 times a day). Patients of control groups underwent standard therapy. State of energy deficiency was assessed by methemoglobin, carbohemoglobin, P50, oxygen delivery, consumption and extraction. Concentration of glucose, lactate, lactate dehydrogenase was assessed. The results of the study showed clear relationship between the nature of changes in transport and oxygen consumption, adaptation adaptive reactions, allowing to identify mechanisms that characterize formation of various types of energy deficiency in perioperative period in patients with malignant diseases of the pelvic organs and diabetes. Use of cytoflavin contributed to a qualitative and effective correction of energy deficiency as well as reduction in the patients stay in the hospital.

RESUMEN

The present observational study addressed effects of cytoflavine on symptoms of asthenia and emotional and autonomic regulation in patients with organic emotional-labile (asthenic) disorder (F06.6). Fifty one females and 49 males (mean age 36.8±11.0 years) were included into the study during their in-patient treatment in Moscow Research and Clinical Center for Neuropsychiatry of the Healthcare Department. All patients received standard antidepressant and vascular therapy, were consulted by psychologists or psychotherapists, visited physiotherapeutic procedures, massage and medical physical training. In addition, 50 patients received cytoflavin two tablets twice per day. At the psychiatric re-assessment before discharge both cytoflavin and control groups showed similar significant reduction of asthenia symptoms. At the same time, patients with cognitive deficits showed significantly larger improvement of cognitive functions after cytoflavin treatment in comparison with cognitively deficient patients after only standard therapy. Improvement of depressive symptoms was significantly larger in cytoflavin group in comparison with controls as well. These data are consistent with previous studies which showed cytoflavin to be effective as a treatment for patients with cognitive deficits and organic depression.

RESUMEN

Authors compared cognitive functions in 60 patients (main group) with different stages of discirculatory encephalopathy (DE), I, II and III stages. A comparison group included 10 age-matched normals without DE. All patients underwent a clinical-neurological investigation and performed neuropsychological tests (MMSE, the Clock drawing test, Burdon probe) and Spilberger-Khanin test. Cognitive evoked potentials, including P300, were recorded. Results revealed the decrease in performance on neuropsychological tests and P300 components that indicated the slowing of metabolic processes in the cerebral cells of patients with DE. In patients treated with cytoflavin, the activation of metabolic processes in the brain cells that indicated the protection of the cellular cluster clinically manifested itself in neurocognitive and electrophysiological improvements was observed.

RESUMEN

The functional activity of mitochondria of the muscular coat of small intestine (MCSI) has been studied in the normal state and under experimental widespread purulent peritonitis (WPP) conditions. The experiments have been carried out on a group of 55 male rabbits of chinchilla breed. It is established that, as a result of the WPP development, the functional activity of mitochondria in MCSI considerably decreases. The comparative analysis of the efficiency of metabolic drugs cytoflavin and neoton showed advantage of the citoflavin preparation, the administration of which allowed the indices of mitochondria in intact animals to be exceeded on the fifth day of postoperative period. The research results show expediency of a complex treatment of WPP using cytoflavin preparation for the normalization of biological oxidation processes and elimination of enteric insufficiency.

RESUMEN

Experiment carried out on laboratory animals (rats) were aimed at comparative evaluation of the effect of several neuroprotective drugs under the conditions of model brain ischemia-reperfusion. The experimental methods included staining of brain tissue sections by hematoxiline-eosine, Nissl staining, and expression of NOS1, NOS3, TRAIL by imunnohistological means. The intensity of damage in various parts of brain and the nature of apoptosis without neuroprotection and with popular neuroprotectors (cytoflavin, actovegin, mexidol) and a test drug at the stage ofpreclinical trial (AKF-90-7) were evaluated. Characteristic cytotoxic (coagulative pycnomorphic and colliquative necrosis of neurons) and vascular (hemostasia, erythropedesis) changes were revealed. The neuroprotective effectof drugs decreases in the following order: AKF-90-7 > cytoflavin > actovegin > mexidol.

RESUMEN

We present the results of a multicenter study on efficacy of cytoflavin in the treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke. Seventy patients (41 of the main group and 29 of the control group) were enrolled in the study. All patients received basic therapy aimed at improving systemic hemodynamics, rheological blood properties and at the prevention of stroke complications. Patients of the main group were treated with cytoflavin as follows: days 1-10 - 20 ml (in 400 ml of the 0,9% NaCl solution) twice a day intravenously in drops; days 11-35 - 850 mg twice a day. We assessed the dynamics of restoration of lost functions (NIHSS, the Rankin scale, the Barthel index) and volumes of ischemic lesion (MRI T1-, T2-, diffusion-weighted images). Results of the study on patients of the control group were supplemented with literature data about 306 patients studied using clinical scales and 40 patients studied with MRI. We revealed a trend towards an effect of cytoflavin on the preservation of brain matter in the acute phase of stroke. Cytoflavin reduced the neurological deficit and improved activities of daily living in patients that may be explained by the less brain damage.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To determine the efficacy of photochemical keratodesmos (PKD) for closing surgical incisions in the cornea of enucleated rabbit eyes compared with that achieved using sutures and self-sealing incisions. METHODS: A 3.5-mm incision, at an angle parallel to the iris, was made in the cornea of enucleated New Zealand White rabbit eyes. The intraocular pressure required to cause leakage (IOP(L)) from the untreated incision was then recorded. Photochemical keratodesmos treatment was then performed by application of a dye, Rose Bengal (RB), in saline solution to the surfaces of the incision wound, followed by laser irradiation at 514 nm from an argon ion laser. Immediately after treatment, the IOP(L) was measured. Both dose and laser irradiance dependencies were studied in five or more eyes for each condition and appropriate control eyes. The IOP(L)s were compared with those obtained using conventional interrupted 10-0 nylon sutures. Other dyes were tested in a similar fashion. RESULTS: The IOP(L) of 300 mm Hg was obtained using a fluence of 1270 J/cm(2) with an irradiance of 1.27 W/cm(2) (laser exposure time, 16 minutes 40 seconds). No sealing was observed using dye or light alone where control pressures of approximately 30 mm Hg were found. At higher dose (1524 J/cm(2)) and irradiance (3.82 W/cm(2); 6 minutes 35 seconds), PKD was less effective, which may be attributable to thermal effects. PKD produced IOP(L)s similar to those in closure by sutures. Other dyes such as riboflavin-5-phosphate and N:-hydroxy-pyridine thione also produced efficient bonding after PKD. Nonphotochemically active dyes did not produce significant increases in the IOP(L) at which leakage occurred. CONCLUSIONS: The increase in IOP(L) after PKD treatment, comparable with that with sutures, in enucleated rabbit eyes demonstrates the feasibility of this technique ex vivo.

RESUMEN

Studies on rats with experimental vitamin B6 deficiency have shown that the combined use of pyridoxine and flavine coenzymes affects the supply of rats with these vitamins. Flavine coenzymes have been found to promote more efficient normalization of pyridoxine and riboflavin balance in the body and to improve the general status of the animals, to increase the excretion of riboflavin and 4-pyridoxic acid with urine, to prove more rapid cure of vitamin deficiency.

RESUMEN

The effect of combined administration of flavin coenzymes and pyridoxine on B2-avitaminosis rats' supply with these vitamins has been studied. It has been disclosed that pyridoxine promotes more effective normalization of riboflavin and pyridoxine balance in the body, this balance being measured from the excretion of riboflavin and 4-pyridoxin acid with urine as well as from the content of total flavins in blood and tissues. In vitamin B2 lack, it is recommended that pyridoxin be combined with flavin mononucleotide and in particular with flavin adenine dinucleotide.
