RESUMO

Objective: To promote the development and therapeutic application of new medications, it is crucial to conduct a thorough investigation into the mechanism by which the traditional Chinese herb pair of Haizao-Kunbu (HK) treats Graves' disease (GD). Materials and methods: Chemical ingredients of HK, putative target genes, and GD-associated genes were retrieved from online public databases. Using Cytoscape 3.9.1, a compound-gene target network was established to explore the association between prosperous ingredients and targets. STRING, Gene Ontology, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analyses visualized core targets and disease pathways. Additionally, we conducted a refined analysis of the binding interactions between active ingredients and their respective targets. To visualize these findings, we employed precise molecular docking techniques. Furthermore, we carried out molecular dynamics simulations to gain insights into the formation of more tightly bound complexes. Results: We found that there were nine key active ingredients in HK, which mainly acted on 21 targets. These targets primarily regulated several biological processes such as cell population proliferation, protein phosphorylation, and regulation of kinase activity, and acted on PI3K-AKT and MAPK pathways to treat GD. Analysis of the molecular interaction simulation under computer technology revealed that the key targets exhibited strong binding activity to active ingredients, and Fucosterol-AKT1 and Isofucosterol-AKT1 complexes were highly stable in humans. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that HK exerts therapeutic effects on GD in a multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway manner by regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, inflammation, and immunomodulatory-related targets. This study provides a theoretical foundation for further investigation into GD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Most Asian countries have employed Chinese medicine (CM) and Western medicine to treat lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). Evidence synthesis and comparison of effectiveness are difficult since outcomes examined and presented through trials possess heterogeneity. This study aimed to solve the outcome problems for CM clinical trials in LSS by building a core outcome set (COS). METHODS: To achieve an agreement on a set of core outcome domains, a four-phase study was carried out. First, we identified candidate outcome domains by systematically reviewing trials. In addition, we identified outcome domains associated with patients by conducting semistructured interviews with patients. Next, outcome domains were processed through a national two-round Delphi survey, in which 18 patients and 21 experts were recruited. Finally, the above domains were converted as a core outcome domain set based on a consensus meeting, in which 24 stakeholders were recruited. RESULTS: Seventeen outcome subdomains were identified by the systematic review and interviews. The Delphi survey assigned a priority to four outcome domains in the first round and four outcomes additionally in the second round. The core outcome domains were determined through discussion and redefinition of outcomes in the consensus meeting: pain and discomfort, health-related quality of life, lumbar function, activities of daily living, measures of walking, patient global assessment, adverse events and CM-specific outcomes. CONCLUSION: COS-CM-LSS is likely to enhance the consistency of outcomes reported in clinical trials. In-depth research should be conducted for the exploration of the best methods to examine the above outcomes.

RESUMO

Chemical probes are an indispensable tool for translating biological discoveries into new therapies, though are increasingly difficult to identify. Novel therapeutic targets are often hard-to-drug proteins, such as messengers or transcription factors. Computational strategies arise as a promising solution to expedite drug discovery for unconventional therapeutic targets. FRASE-bot exploits big data and machine learning (ML) to distill 3D information relevant to the target protein from thousands of protein-ligand complexes to seed it with ligand fragments. The seeded fragments can then inform either (i) de novo design of 3D ligand structures or (ii) ultra-large-scale virtual screening of commercially available compounds. Here, FRASE-bot was applied to identify ligands for Calcium and Integrin Binding protein 1 (CIB1), a promising but ligand-orphan drug target implicated in triple negative breast cancer. The signaling function of CIB1 relies on protein-protein interactions and its structure does not feature any natural ligand-binding pocket. FRASE-based virtual screening identified the first small-molecule CIB1 ligand (with binding confirmed in a TR-FRET assay) showing specific cell-killing activity in CIB1-dependent cancer cells, but not in CIB1-depleted cells.

RESUMO

Objective: 1) To evaluate the effificacy of rhubarb in the treatment of chronic renal failure (CRF); 2) To explore the safety for rhubarb-based therapy on chronic renal failure. Methods: The randomized and semi randomized controlled trials of Rhubarb in the treatment of chronic renal failure in medical electronic databases (up to September 2021) were searched, and meta-analysis was carried out by revman 5.3 software. Results: A total of 2,786 patients were included in 34 literatures, including 1,474 cases in the treatment group and 1,312 cases in the control group. The results of meta-analysis showed that Serum creatinine (SCR) [MD = 123.57, 95% Cl (111.59, 131.96)], Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) [MD = -3.26, 95% Cl (-4.22,-2.31)], Creatinine clearance rate (CCR) [MD = 3.95, 95% Cl (-0.03, 7.93)], Hemoglobin (Hb) [MD = 7.70, 95% Cl (-0.18, 15.58)] and Uric acid (UA) [MD = -42.79, 95% CI (-66.29, -19.29)]. The total effective rate of improving symptoms and signs in chronic renal failure patients [Peto or = 4.14, 95% Cl (3.32, 5.16)]. Conclusion: This systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated that rhubarb has a positive therapeutic effect, which may provide confifidence and some theoretical reference for clinical application to a certain extent. Compared with the control group, rhubarb alone or traditional Chinese medicine compound containing Rhubarb can significantly reduce Serum creatinine, Blood urea nitrogen and Uric acid, increase Creatinine clearance rate, and improve the total effective rate of symptoms and signs. However, there is no evidence that rhubarb is more effective than the control group in increasing hemoglobin. In addition, due to the low quality of research methodology in the included literature, it is necessary to further study high-quality literature to evaluate its efficacy and safety. RESUMO

Chinese patent medicines(CPMs) are unique therapeutic drugs in China. Establishing and improving the evaluation criteria is an important measure to promote the high-quality development of CPMs. Based on the "evaluation criteria of high-grade CPMs with quality as the core index" established by our group in 2018, the "high-quality evaluation criteria for CPMs based on whole process control" was proposed in the present study in 2022. The scope of application and basic principles of the new criteria were clarified. A quality evaluation scoring table was established in the new criteria, including five parts: raw material selection, production process, quality control, efficacy evaluation, and brand building. The technical evaluation indexes involved have increased from 20% in the original criteria to 70% in the new criteria, and efficacy evaluation has been added in the new criteria. The subjective evaluation indicators account for a large proportion in the original criteria, which is prone to bias. The improved criteria overcome this shortcoming. It is expected that the new criteria as a basis can play a better role in the selection of high-quality products of CPMs, guide enterprises and institutions to participate actively in the evaluation and research of high-quality CPMs, and promote the high-quality development of CPMs.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of utilizing Non-Pharmaceutical Chinese Medical (NPCM) therapy singularly or in combination for the treatment of Degenerative Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (DLSS). METHODS: The comprehensive search for all randomized controlled trials regarding NPCM therapies for the treatment of DLSS was performed through online databases searches, commencing from their inception to January 1st, 2023. The relevant literature underwent a thorough screening process, and the data was meticulously extracted and subjected to analysis through the implementation of RevMan 5.3 software. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was employed to assess the potential risk of bias. The synthesis of evidence was performed Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation. RESULTS: The extensive search procedure produced 5674 records, including data from 37 studies of 38 comparisons (2965 participants). Moderate evidence was obtained demonstrating that the application of acupuncture for a duration of 6-8 weeks was significantly superior to sham acupuncture in terms of intermediate-term (6 months) alleviation of back pain (2 trials, n = 128; MD, -1.08; 95% CI, -1.81∼-0.34) and improvement in lumbar function (2 trials, n = 128; MD, -1.40; 95% CI, -2.93∼-0.13). The available low evidence suggested that, as compared to sham acupuncture, acupuncture was effective in reducing short-term (3 months) back pain and enhancing lumbar function but had no impact on leg pain. A trial with low risk of bias found that acupuncture was more effective than sham acupuncture in enhancing disability and walking capabilities. The other studies presented inconsistent evidence with regards to the efficacy of the various interventions employed. CONCLUSIONS: Evidence of low-to-moderate quality suggests that for DLSS patients, the implementation of acupuncture in comparison to sham acupuncture presents favorable outcomes in terms of short- and intermediate-term alleviation of back pain, improvement in lumbar function, enhancement of disability and walking capacity. The conclusion regarding the efficacy of other NPCM therapies was not obtained due to the insufficient quality of the available evidence. REGISTRATION: PROSPERO CRD42022307631.

RESUMO

Objective: The role of radiation therapy (RT) in melanoma has historically been limited to palliative care, with surgery as the primary treatment modality. However, adjuvant RT can be a powerful tool in certain cases and its application in melanoma has been increasingly explored in recent years. The aim of this study is to explore national patterns of care and associations surrounding the use of adjuvant RT for stage III melanoma. Methods: The National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) was used to identify patients who were diagnosed with stage III melanoma between 2004 and 2014. Exclusion criteria included those with distant metastatic disease, in-situ histology, no confirmed positive nodes, palliative intent therapy, and dosing regimens inconsistent with National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines for adjuvant RT in melanoma. Patients treated with and without adjuvant RT were compared and factors associated with use of adjuvant RT were identified using multivariable logistic regression analyses. Results: A total of 7,758 cases of stage III melanoma were analyzed, of which 11.7% received adjuvant RT. The mean age of the overall cohort was 58.5 years, and the majority of patients were male (64.7%), white (96.6%), on private insurance (51.3%), and presented to a non-high-volume facility (90.3%). Multivariable regression analyses revealed that patients who present to the hospital in 2009-2014 as compared to 2004-2008 (odds ratio [OR] 1.61, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.36-1.92), had 4 or more positive nodes (OR 4.30, 95% CI 3.67-5.04), and had microscopic residual tumor (OR 2.11, 95% CI 1.46-3.04) were more likely to receive adjuvant RT. Factors that were negatively associated with receiving adjuvant RT included female gender (OR 0.72, 95% CI 0.61-0.85) and median income of at least $63,000 (OR 0.66, 95% CI 0.52-0.83). Conclusions: This study demonstrates the rising use of RT for stage III melanoma in recent years and identifies demographic, social, clinical, and hospital-specific factors associated with patients receiving adjuvant RT. Further investigation is needed to explore disease benefits to improve guidance on the utilization of RT in melanoma.

RESUMO

The big brand of Chinese patent medicine, Fufang Danshen Prescription(FDP), effective in promoting blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, regulating qi, and relieving pain, is wide in clinical application and diverse in dosage forms and products, but its quality and price are uneven, which causes problems for doctors and patients. To clarify the key links and weakness of quality control leading to the quality difference of FDP products, the present study carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the whole production cycle of FDP based on the "high-quality Chinese patent medicine evaluation criteria" and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of production and quality of different FDP products according to scores. The results showed that the scores of various products in the "raw materials selection" varied greatly. The highest score(S1) and the lowest score(S2) differed by more than 3 times, indicating that different manufacturers had inconsistent requirements for the selection of raw materials, leading to fundamental differences in the quality of raw materials. The scores in the "production process" varied slightly, with an average score of 66.8%. The manufacturer S8 obtained the highest score(84.0%), which indicated the emergence of intelligent manufacturing production. The scores(with the average score of 44.0%) in the "quality control" were lower than those of the previous two items, which was attributed to the fact that most FDP products only met the "qualified" benchmark required by the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and their consistency and high quality were both uncontrollable. The scores in the "post-marketing research" were the lowest(with an average score of 28.5%), and most manufacturers were scored 0, which reflected little attention paid. Only a few brand manufacturers were scored acceptably and they were willing to carry out relevant research on post-marketing evaluation. The evaluation results demonstrated the key links and weakness leading to the production and quality differences of FDP from different manufacturers. It is expected to improve the quality of FDP, promote the formation of the "high quality and good price" mechanism, and provide information for the centralized procurement of governments.

RESUMO

We report a case of a young male with amphetamine toxicity initially obscured by concomitant use of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), and the sympathomimetic symptoms emerged after GHB's effects receded. A 24-year-old unconscious man presented to emergency department showed the following vital signs upon admission: blood pressure 136/58 mmHg; heart rate 79 bpm; SpO2 87% under ambient air; body temperature 36.1 °C; Glasgow Coma Scale score 3. The pupils were not dilated. Arterial blood gas test revealed respiratory acidosis (pH = 7.229, pCO2 = 64.4 mmHg, pO2 = 42.3 mmHg, HCO3 = 26.3 mmol/L). Intubation was performed and the patient was transferred to intensive care unit. The patient regained consciousness and became agitated in association with sinus tachycardia (heartrate 143 bpm; blood pressure 173/61 mmHg). A few hours later, he experienced abrupt desaturation (SpO2 65%) and profuse, pinkish, frothy sputum. Chest radiography revealed a bat-wing perihilar shadowing, and computed tomography showed bilateral ground-glass opacity and an alveolar pattern from acute pulmonary edema. A high dose of benzodiazepine with a midazolam pump at 50 mg/h was administered to relieve symptoms. The patient's friends confessed to concomitant use of amphetamine and GHB. The urine toxicology result was positive for amphetamine (≧500 ng/mL). The patient improved later and was extubated at 4 days after the mitigation of pneumonia and discharged uneventfully 8 days later. In our patient, amphetamine intoxication was initially masked by concomitant use of GHB but appeared as GHB's effect attenuated. We wish to remind clinicians of variable clinical presentations of polydrug abuse.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a prevalent liver disease, but currently has no specific medication in clinic. Antrodia cinnamomea (AC) is a medicinal fungus and it has been shown that AC can inhibit high fat diet (HFD)-induced lipid deposition in mouse livers, but the effective monomer in AC and mechanism against NAFLD remain unclear. It has been reported that aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) activation shows protective effects on NAFLD. Our previous study demonstrates that AC and its monomer dehydroeburicoic acid (DEA) can upregulate the ALDH2 activity on alcoholic fatty liver disease mouse model, but it is not clear whether the anti-NAFLD effects of AC and DEA are mediated by ALDH2. AIM TO STUDY: To elucidate the active compound in AC against NAFLD, study whether ALDH2 mediates the anti-NAFLD effects of AC and its effective monomer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: WT mice, ALDH2-/- mice and ALDH2-/- mice re-expressed ALDH2 by lentivirus were fed with a methionine-choline deficient (MCD) diet or high fat diet (HFD) to induce NAFLD, and AC at the different doses (200 and/or 500 mg/kg body weight per day) was administrated by gavage at the same time. Primary hepatocytes derived from WT and ALDH2-/-mice were stimulated by oleic acid (OA) to induce lipid deposition, and the cells were treated with AC or DEA in the meantime. Lentivirus-mediated ALDH2-KD or ALDH2-OE were used to knock down or overexpress ALDH2 expression in HepG2 cells, respectively. Finally, the effects of DEA against NAFLD as well as its effects on upregulating liver ALDH2 and removing the harmful aldehyde 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) were studied in the MCD diet-induced NAFLD mouse model. RESULTS: In WT mice fed with a MCD diet or HFD, AC administration reduced hepatic lipid accumulation, upregulated ALDH2 activity in mouse livers, decreased 4-HNE contents both in mouse livers and serum, inhibited lipogenesis, inflammation and oxidative stress and promoted fatty acid ß-oxidation. These effects were abolished in ALDH2 KO mice but could be restored by re-expression of ALDH2 by lentivirus. In primary hepatocytes of WT mice, AC and DEA inhibited OA-induced lipid accumulation and triglyceride (TG) synthesis, promoting the ß-oxidation of fatty acid in the meantime. However, these effects were lost in primary hepatocytes of ALDH2 KO mice. Moreover, the expression level of ALDH2 significantly affected the inhibitory effects of AC and DEA on OA-induced lipid deposition in HepG2 cells. The effects of AC and DEA on suppressing lipid deposition, inhibiting mitochondrial ROS levels, reducing TG synthesis, and promoting ß-oxidation of fatty acid were all enhanced with the overexpression of ALDH2 and reduced with the knockdown of ALDH2 expression. DEA showed dose-dependent effects on inhibiting liver lipid deposition, elevating ALDH2 activity and reducing 4-HNE levels in the livers of MCD diet-induced NAFLD mice. CONCLUSION: DEA is the effective compound in AC against NAFLD. The related anti-NAFLD mechanisms of AC and DEA were through upregulating ALDH2 expression and activity, thus enhancing the elimination of 4-HNE in the livers, and sequentially alleviating oxidative stress and inflammation, promoting fatty acid ß-oxidation and decreasing lipogenesis.

RESUMO

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Songling Xuemaikang Capsules combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of essential hypertension. PubMed, VIP, CNKI, Wanfang and other databases were retrieved from the establishment of the database to February 2020 for clinical randomized controlled trial(RCT) about Songling Xuemaikang Capsules combined with conventional Western medicine in the treatment of essential hypertension. The literatures were screened out according to the inclusion criteria, and RevMan 5.3 software was used for Meta-analysis. A total of 3 100 patients in 27 RCTs were enrolled. According to Meta-analysis, Songling Xuemaikang Capsules combined with conventional Western medicine could effectively reduce systolic blood pressure(MD=-7.88,95%CI[-9.68,-6.08],P<0.000 01) and diastolic blood pressure(MD=-7.85, 95%CI[-9.07,-6.62], P<0.000 01), triglyceride(MD=-0.46, 95%CI[-0.66,-0.26], P<0.000 01) and total cholesterol(MD=-0.92, 95%CI[-1.49,-0.35], P=0.001), but increase HDL cholesterol(MD=0.51, 95%CI[0.28, 0.73], P<0.000 01), with a better effect than the Western medicine group alone. The results of LDL-C analysis showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups(MD=-0.91, 95%CI[-1.82, 0.01], P=0.05). The subgroup analysis suggested that reduced systolic blood pressure may be related to the use of ARB. There was a close correlation between CCB drugs and the decrease of diastolic blood pressure. In addition, there was no significant difference in the compliance and the incidence of adverse reactions. Clinical application of Songling Xuemaikang Capsules combined with Western medicine in the treatment of patients with essential hypertension has clear efficacy and certain safety. More clinical randomized controlled trials are needed for verification in the future.

RESUMO

The consistency of quality on Chinese patent drugs is a hotspot and difficulty in the control of traditional Chinese medicine preparations, and has become one of the bottlenecks restricting its internationalization. Based on the analysis of current studies on quality and problems of Chinese patent drugs, this paper explored relevant methods of quality evaluation on Chinese patent drugs and possible factors affecting the consistency of quality in the pharmaceutical cycle by consulting relevant literatures about quality evaluation methods and consistency control techniques of large-scale Chinese patent drugs. And it put forward the evaluation system on high-quality Chinese patent drugs with "consistency" as the core, so as to promote the overall improvement of the quality of Chinese patent drugs, guide the rational price of Chinese patent drugs of the same species, and provide a new reference model for the quality evaluation of Chinese patent drug.

RESUMO

We investigate the protective effect of Carthamus tinctorius L. (CTL, also known as Honghua in China or Safflower) on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion and explored the possible mechanisms on regulating apoptosis and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). High-performance liquid chromatography method with diode array detection analysis was established to analyze the components of CTL. Middle cerebral artery occlusion rats model was established to evaluate Neurological Function Score and hematoxylin-eosin staining, as well as triphenyltetrazolium was used to examine the infarction area ratio. Transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling was performed for the apoptosis. Apoptosis-related factors, including B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), Bax and Caspase3, and MMPs-related MMP2, MMP9, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 (TIMP1) in ischemic brain, were assayed by Western blot, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, and immunohistochemistry. The data showed that CTL (2, 4 g crude drug/kg/d) treatment could significantly reduce the ischemic damage in brain tissue and improve a significant neurological function score. In addition, CTL could also attenuate apoptosis degree of brain tissues and regulate Bcl-2, Bax, and Caspase 3 and also have a significant decrease on MMP-9 expression, followed by a significant increase of TIMP1 protein expression. These findings indicated that regulation of CTL on apoptosis and MMPs contributed to its protective effect on ischemia/reperfusion injury.

RESUMO

The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) quality constant herbal slices evaluation method was applied to evaluate the grade of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma based on the combination of traditional character identification and modern scientific and technological methods. The TCM quality constant evaluation method was used to determine the appearance and index content of medicinal slices, calculate the quality constant and percentile quality constant of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma from different sources, and discuss their classification. The quality constants of 15 batches of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma slices were between 0.004 and 0.063. The slices with the percentage quality constant ≥80% were classified as the first grade; those with the percentage quality constant ≥50% and <80% were classified as the second grade; and those with the percentage quality constant <50% were classified as the third grade. Then the slices with the quality constant ≥0.050 were classified as the first grade; those with the quality constant ≥0.032 and <0.050 were classified as the second grade; and those with the quality constant <0.032 were classified as the third grade. According to the results, the 15 batches of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma slices were divided into 1 batch of the first grade, 4 batches of the second grade, and 10 batches of the third grade. The quality constant evaluation method established is scientific, objective, simple and feasible. The application of the method in Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma slices has reasonable results, which is helpful to promote the classification of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma and promotes the high-quality application of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma.

RESUMO

Liuwei Dihuang Pills is a typical traditional Chinese medicine with "the same product made by many manufacturers". The quality and price of products made in various factories was different obviously. In this study, the quality differences of Liuwei Dihuang Pills were evaluated over multi-dimensions and throughout the whole production cycle involving raw materials, production process, quality control and post-marketing re-studies based on the "Chinese patent medicine evaluation standard with quality at the core" established earlier by our research group. The research results showed that the product quality of various manufacturers was significantly different, and the product quality was positively correlated with the market shares of enterprises, indicating that enterprises with more market shares paid more attention to product quality; and the sales determined the concern degree of enterprises on products, which was in line with general cognition. During the single-item evaluation of Liuwei Dihuang Pills, the score of raw material selection was relatively low, and the enterprises paid less attention to the initial raw materials. The whole production process was better, and the national compulsory implementation of "Production Quality Management Standard"(GMP) had a positive effect in improving product quality. Quality control could basically guarantee product quality. Intelligent manufacturing promoted by the government was beneficial to ensure product uniformity. The score rate of "quality evaluation" item was basically qualified, which indicated that the quality control level of Liuwei Dihuang Pills was acceptable as a whole, but there was still room for improvement. "Re-evaluation and Brand Construction" had the lowest scores, reflecting that enterprises did not pay enough attention to in-depth study and re-evaluation of "the same product made by many manufacturers". The evaluation results were in line with expectations, provided a reference example for the evaluation of high-quality Chinese patent medicine, a basis for the high-quality and good price of Chinese patent medicine, scientific data for improving medical insurance bidding, and thus facilitated promoting the healthy development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry.

RESUMO

Abnormal mitochondrial fission and mitophagy participate in the pathogenesis of many cardiovascular diseases. Baicalein is a key active component in the roots of traditional Chinese medicinal herb Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. It has been reported that baicalein can resist cardiotoxicity induced by several stress, but the mechanisms of baicalein operate in the protection of cardiomyocytes need to be researched further. Here we report that baicalein can promote cell survival under oxidative stress by up-regulating the expression level of MARCH5 in cardiomyocytes. Pre-treatment cells or mice with baicalein can stabilize the expression of MARCH5, which plays a crucial role in the regulation of mitochondrial network and mitophagy. Overexpressed MARCH5 is able to against H2 O2 and ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) stress by suppressing mitochondrial fission and enhancing mitophagy, and then attenuate cells apoptosis. Altogether, our present study investigated that baicalein exerts a protective effect through regulating KLF4-MARCH5-Drp1 pathway, our research also provided a novel theoretical basis for the clinical application of baicalein.

RESUMO

The method of classifying the quality grade of traditional Chinese medicine slices with cross section model quality constant was applied to the grade evaluation of Ligusticum chuanxiong pieces, and a reasonable grade standard of L. chuanxiong pieces was established. The purpose is to classify the 15 batches of L. chuanxiong pieces by combining the advantages of traditional grading with modern quality control indicators. By measuring the natural morphological parameters, processing parameters and the intrinsic content of ferulic acid,an important active ingredient,of the 15 batches of L. chuanxiong pieces collected from different manufacturers and different batches of different medicinal materials markets,we can synthesize the results. The mass constants and percentage mass constants are calculated and analyzed based on the above data. The results showed that the quality constants of 15 batches of L. chuanxiong pieces collected ranged from 0.53-3.00; if the percentage mass constants were more than 80%,50%-80% was second-class pieces, and the rest were third-class pieces, the evaluation results were as follows: the quality constants of first-class L. chuanxiong pieces were more than 2.40,the quality constants of second-class L. chuanxiong pieces should be 1.70-2.40,and the quality constants of third-class L. chuanxiong pieces should be less than 1.70. In this paper, the method of dividing the quality constants of the top blade model into different grades is further applied and practiced, which proves that the method is scientific, reasonable and multi-adaptable. At the same time,it enriches the research data of the grade evaluation of L. chuanxiong pieces, provides a useful reference for the promotion of the grade evaluation of L. chuanxiong pieces, and lays an experimental foundation for the next research of the subject group.
