RESUMO

This article has systematically sorted out and verified the name, origin, producing area, quality evaluation, harvesting and processing of Pruni Semen by consulting ancient materia medica, medical books, prescription books and modern literature, in order to provide a basis for the development of famous classical formulas containing Pruni Semen. The results showed that Pruni Semen, as a medicinal material, has been widely used in medical literature of past dynasties since it was collected in Shennong Bencaojing, and also included under the names such as Yuhe, Yuzi and Yuli, and aliases such as Jueli, Queli and Chexiali. The primordial plants mentioned in the past dynasties involve about 12 species of Rosaceae, but with Prunus humilis, P. japonica and P. glandulosa as mainstream varieties used in the past dynasties, while the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia stipulates that the basal plants are P. humilis, P. japonica and P. pedunculata. Most of the ancient records for the origin of Pruni Semen are found everywhere in high mountains, valleys and hills, modern literature records that its origin varies according to its base, for example, P. humilis and P. japonica are mainly produced in Hebei, eastern Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Shandong and other regions of China, and P. pedunculata is mainly produced in Inner Mongolia. Modern literature summarizes its quality as faint yellow, full and fulfilling, neat and not broken, and non-oiling, and the small Pruni Semen is better than the big Pruni Semen. The ancient processing methods of Pruni Semen mainly include blanching and peeling, blanching and peeling followed by frying, and blanching and peeling followed by pounding, with the common feature of blanching and peeling. The successive editions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia stipulate that it should be pounded when used. Based on the results of the herbal textual research and the writing time of Bianzhenglu, and combined with the market survey of Pruni Semen, it is suggested that P. humilis or P. japonica should be used as the origin of Pruni Semen in Sanpiantang, and it is harvested when the fruits are ripe, the kernels are collected by removing the stones, and processed by blanching, peeling and pounding consulting the decoction method in the current edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

RESUMO

Colorectal cancer is one of the common malignant tumors with high morbidity, and changes in lifestyle, dietary structure and environment in China in recent decades have been associated with an increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer. A large number of studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) can be used as a complementary and alternative treatment for colorectal cancer after conventional western medicine treatment. TCM physicians have accumulated a lot of clinical experience in the treatment of patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ colorectal cancer, and have proved that TCM has unique efficacy, but there is still a lack of relevant clinical practice guidelines to standardize and guide the diagnosis and treatment of TCM. Based on this, according to the guideline development process of the World Health Organization Handbook for Guideline Development and the Clinical Evidence Grading Criteria on TCM Based on Evidence Body, under the framework of relevant laws, regulations and technical guidance documents, combined with the evidence of relevant domestic and foreign clinical research in recent years for evidence grading and opinion recommendation, and then the Guidelines for TCM Intervention After Conventional Western Medicine Treatment for Stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ Colorectal Cancer were developed by expert consensus. This guideline introduces the etiology, pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and treatment of TCM intervention for colorectal cancer, which can provide guiding opinions for TCM clinicians and clinicians of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine engaged in the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer.

RESUMO

The aim of this paper was to explore the mechanism of Shenxiong Glucose Injection antagonizing apoptosis of H9 c2 cells induced by H_2O_2. H9 c2 cells were pretreated with 1. 7%,3. 4% and 6. 8% Shenxiong Glucose Injection, and then H_2O_2 was introduced to induce apoptosis in vitro. Cell viability was detected by MTS assay, morphological changes of apoptosis were observed by AO/EB fluorescence staining, apoptosis rate was detected by Annexin/PI method, cell expression profile was detected by gene chip technology, the mRNA of PIK3 CA,Bcl-2,Bax,caspase-3 and GAPDH were detected by qRT-PCR,the protein expression levels of PIK3 CA,AKT,P-AKT,Bcl-2,Bax and caspase-3 were detected by Western blot, and the contents of LDH and MDA were detected by kit. The results showed that Shenxiong Glucose Injection of different concentrations significantly increased the viability of H9 c2 cells treated with H_2O_2( P<0. 01),and reversed H_2O_2-induced apoptosis( P< 0. 01). The microarray experiments showed that 138 genes were altered in H9 c2 cells after treatment with Shenxiong Glucose Injection. The differential expression fold of PIK3 CA associated with PI3 K/AKT pathway was 3. 59. The results of qRT-PCR and Western blot showed that Shenxiong Glucose Injection could down-regulate the mRNA and protein expression levels of caspase-3( P<0. 01),up-regulate the mRNA and protein expression level of PIK3 CA and Bcl-2( P<0. 01),and up-regulate the phosphorylation levels of AKT( P<0. 01) in H_2O_2-treated H9 c2 cells. The protective effect of Shenxiong Glucose Injection on H_2O_2 cells injury was significantly inhibited by LY294002,a PI3 K/AKT pathway inhibitor. The results suggested that Shenxiong Glucose Injection may inhibit H_2O_2-induced H9 c2 cells apoptosis by regulating PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway.

RESUMO

Polygalae Radix and Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma were first recorded in Shennong's Herbal Classic. Both of them can "improve people's memory". Long-term administration can make body light and macrobian. They have often been used as couplet medicines and the core combination of nootropic and memory improvement prescriptions. At present, traditional Chinese medicine clinicians believes that the principle of Polygalae Radix and Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma in improving memory or intelligence is to supplement the deficiency, remove phlegm and unblock nine orifices, with sufficient evidences for the traditional theory. However, its material basis and mechanism for improving memory have not been fully elucidated. In this paper, we searched the literatures about pharmacological and pharmacodynamics mechanism of Polygalae Radix,Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma and their chemical components on nervous system in recent ten years from Pubmed database and CNKI. The main material basis for improving memory of Polygalae Radix-saponins, oligosaccharides and alone, the main material basis for improving memory of Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma-α-asarone,β-asarone and eugenol, the changes of the quality and quantity of the active substances after combination, and the mechanism of improving memory of the single drugs and their couplet medicines, such as scavenging free radicals, regulating cholinergic system, clearing β-amyloid protein(Aβ), decreasing the level of phosphorylation of Tau protein, improving the rate of apoptosis and regulating synaptic plasticity, were systematically collected, analyzed and summarized. In view of the current research situation, this paper points out the possible shortcomings, with the aim to further explore the mechanism of Polygalae Radix combined with Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma with the mechanism of "1+1>2".

RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a type of common neurodegenerative disease. The main clinical symptom of the disease is progressive cognitive dysfunction, which has no effective therapy yet. With the in-depth immunology study in the central nervous system, studies in different fields such as preclinical phase, genetics and bioinformatics have shown that immune dysfunction contribute to the pathogenesis of AD, including the beginning, maintenance and deterioration stage in AD. China has a wealth of natural medicine resources and clinical experiences. A large number of natural drugs and effective components both can regulate the immune function and ameliorate the symptoms in AD. This review summarizes the researches of ameliorating the symptoms in AD through immunization regulation in recent years with an aim to provide new ideas and clues in the study of new anti-AD drugs using natural medicines.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo study the clinical effectiveness of applying comprehensive medical model in treating stroke in Chinese medicine (CM) hospitals.

METHODSTotally 236 stroke inpatients were randomly assigned to the comprehensive treatment group (as the experimental group, 121 cases) and the conventional treatment group (as the control group, 115 cases). A standard comprehensive treatment mode was applied in the experimental group. The Chinese materia medica (CMM) or acupuncture was combined during the rehabilitation treatment. Traditional basic drug treatment method was applied in the conventional treatment group. The health education for patients and their families was launched non-systematically. The mortality, the occurrence rate of complications, short-term clinical effectiveness, as well as NIHSS, Barthel index (BI), and Oxford Handicap Scale (OHS) were compared between the two groups.

RESULTSBefore treatment there was no statistical difference in NIHSS score, BI, or OHS score between the two groups (P > 0.05). On day 21 and 90 of the treatment, there was statistical difference in NIHSS score, BI, and OHS score (P < 0.01). Better results were obtained in the experimental group. On day 21 and 90 of the treatment, the total effectiveness rate was 80.99% and 88.43% in the experimental group, higher than that of the control group (61.74% and 72.17% respectively), showing statistical difference (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The occurrence rate of common complications in the experimental group was obviously lower than that in the control group (30.58% vs 69.56%, P < 0.01). There was no statistical difference in the mortality between the two groups (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSThe application of the comprehensive medical model in treating stroke in CM showed better effects than using traditional basic drug treatment method. Treatment of stroke by CM showed superiorities.

RESUMO

Long-term potentiation (LTP) is thought as a generative mechanism underlying learning and memory via storing information in central nervous system. Electro-neurophysiological assay for LTP is generally used in screening the drugs that can facilitate learning and memory. By using in vivo LTP technique, isolichenin was found to facilitate LTP induction by a tetanic stimulation (20 pulses/100 Hz) in dentate gyrus. This tetanic stimulation by itself, however, cannot induce LTP. Previous study showed the reagent being able to facilitate LTP-induction, like methanol extract of saffron (MES), usually can antagonize the inhibiting effect of 30% ethanol on LTP induction (30 pulses/60 Hz). Isolichenin may also fall into such kind of drugs. Interestingly, comparatively study showed that isolichenin failed to antagonize the inhibiting effect of 30% ethanol on LTP induction (30 pulses/60 Hz). This result indicates a different unknown mechanism existing in the effect of isolichenin on LTP or memory formation.

RESUMO

Object To study the application of macroporous resins to the purified active components of Picria fel-terrae Lour., Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, and Phellodendron chinense Schneid. Methods With the purified active components of Chinese materia medica (CMM) as a standard, we selected the suitable macroporous resins and studied the optimum technological parameters of the adsorption and elution. Results The suitable three types of macroporous resins which were used to the purified active components of CMM were HPD500 for P. fel-terrae., HPD300 for S. baicalensis, and HPD100 for P. chinense. In the absorption course, when the ratios between the medicinal materials amount and the volume of macroporous resins were 1.5 for P. fel-terrae, 0.5 for S. baicalensis and 1 for P. chinense, the purified active components of CMM appeared leaking, and were no more absorbed when the ratios were 11 for P. fel-terrae, 2 for S. baicalensis and 4.75 for P. chinense. In the elution course, the optimum alcohol concentrations were 50% for P. fel-terrae, 30% for S. baicalensis and 50% for P. chinense. Conclusion It is obviously different to refine the active components of CMM, while using the diverse types of macroporous resins.
