RESUMO

Lymphedema is a simple complication after mastectomy. On current data there are two main methods of treatment of this disease that include different physical exercises, massage, compression of the edematous tissue and limb bandaging. One of this methods is based on the serial compression of the limb with an intermittent pump that is followed by physical exercises. Another method is known as the complex decongestive therapy (CDP) by Földi. Individual treatment program is worked out for each woman. The positive effect of treatment can be reached after a year of strict adherence to the program.

RESUMO

Lymphedema may be presented in mild or less severe form. Nowadays, accurate diagnosis and effective therapy are available. Wearing surgical bandage, massage, exercise, and pumps form the core program for most patients with lymphedema. The application of pharmacological therapies has been notably absent from the management strategies for lymphatic vascular insufficiency states but lately some progress has been made by applying wobenzym in the treatment. Surgical approaches to improve lymphatic flow through vascular anastamosis have been, in large part, unsuccessful, but controlled liposuction affords lasting benefit in selected patients.

RESUMO

The effect of the weak electric current (2 mA/cm2) on structural characteristics (hydrodynamic diameter and molecular weight) of the human serum albumin (HSA) was studied using photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). The average diameter of initial HSA globule is approximately 7 nm (66.8 kDa). After electric current treatment during 2-5 min the diameter of HSA monomer increases to 7.5 nm. The duration of electric current treatment being increased to 20 min the size of HSA monomers decreases to 6.4 nm. The behaviour of HSA oligomers is close to that of monomers. Consequently, changes in the sizes of monomers and oligomers of HSA under the electric current treatment are caused by the change in the charge density stimulating change of tertiary structure of molecules and possible addition of ions from the buffer solution to them.

RESUMO

Literature data and authors' own observation on the role of albumin in realization of curative effect of electric current are summarized in the article. Electric current action on albumin leads to physical and chemical changes (conformational ones, membrane process are also involved, development of free forms of biologically active substances) and biochemical changes (enzymes activity, lipid peroxidation). It furthers the normalization of function of body organs and systems. Curative effect of electric current depends on the dose, physical characteristic, functional specialization of tissues and peculiarities of a pathological process. Protein component is primary one in treatment effect of electric currents and should be further studied using physical, physical and chemical and biochemical techniques.

RESUMO

In the article, data from the published literature are summarized together with results of the author's investigations relevant to aspects of pharmacotherapeutical efficacy of cardiac glycosides, plants endowed with antihypertensive and diuretic activities in acute and chronic heart failure. Pharmacological mechanisms of action of a new combined vegetal drug, chomvikorin-N, are described in detail; its clinical efficacy is shown in the treatment of heart failure.

RESUMO

Folk method on hemorrhoid treatment are outlined. The author emphasizes prevention of exacerbations, inflammation of the hemorrhoidal nodes in rectal tissues by local and general treatment methods including exercise therapy, active way of life. Hypodynamia, sessile way of life may result in exacerbation of hemorrhoids. The author recommends various folk medicine agents, describes their composition, doses.

RESUMO

CaCl2 and aconitic models of arrhythmias were reproduced in experiments with rats. Sodium salicylate was found to decrease the preventive effect of ecetylnovocainamidum and increased the effect of novocainamidum on ECG changes. Sodium salicylate diminished the preventive effect of acetyl-novocainamidum by elevating myocardial Na+ concentrations, favoured the decrease in myocardial K+ levels, eliminated the preventive effects of novocainamide and acetylnovocainamide by altering myocardial energy metabolism in CaCl2-induced arrhythmia and improved the preventive effect of acetyl-novocainamide on these parameters in aconitic arrhythmia.

RESUMO

The effects of potassium malate and sodium succinate on the antiarrhythmic activity of novocainamide and acetylnovocainamide during modelling of chlor-calcium-induced arrhythmia as well as in disorders of cardiac rhythm during modelling of pituitrin-isadrine-induced myocardial infarction were studied. The metabolic agents were found to increase the effectiveness of acetylnovocainamide and the toxicity of novocainamide. To interpret the specific features of the mechanism of the anti-arrhythmic action of the compounds there was studied their ability to form complexes with components of biomembranes and ions of biometals.

RESUMO

In experiments on rabbits it was established that strophanthin (0.05 mg/kg) administered to animals with cardiac insufficiency due to a severe overloading of the heart function by occlusion of the diaphragmatic portion of the aorta by 4/5 of its diameter improved the contractile activity and relaxing properties of the left ventricle. This effect is however transient (up to 15-30 minutes) with the subsequent reduction of its characteristic indices, the development of symptoms of intoxication and not infrequently death of animals. alpha-tocopherol administered before the pathology reproduction (10 mg/kg, 3 days) increases the period of myocardial compensation and when given in combination with strophanthin significantly potentiates the cardiac effect of glycoside manifesting by an increase of the strength and rate of contraction and intensity of diastolic relaxation of the myocardium, prolongs the animal's life.

RESUMO

The sympatholyitic ornide and beta-adrenoblocking agent alpheprol were introduced intraperitoneally in single doses of 5 and 1 mg/kg, respectively to 7--30 day and 3--5-month old adult rats. The content of ATP, ADP, AMP, inorganic phosphorus glycogen and also active P32 incorporation were determined. The 7-day old rattlings are shown to be more sensitive to ornide than to alpheprol by comparison with older animals.
