RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Uterine leiomyomata (UL) is a common gynecological disease in women. Studied on the relationship between single metabolites of urinary phytoestrogens and UL, especially for the combined effects of mixed metabolites on UL still are insufficient. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, we included 1,579 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Urinary phytoestrogens were assessed by measuring urinary excretion of daidzein, genistein, equol, O-desmethylangolensin, enterodiol and enterolactone. The outcome was defined as UL. Weighted logistic regression was used to analyze the association between single metabolites of urinary phytoestrogens and UL. Notably, we adopted the weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression, Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR), and quantile g-computation (qgcomp) models, to investigate the combined effects of six mixed metabolites on UL. RESULTS: The prevalence of UL was approximately 12.92%. After adjusting age, race/ethnicity, marital status, drinking status, body mass index, waist circumference, menopausal status, ovary removed status, use of female hormones, hormones/hormone modifiers, total energy, daidzein, genistein, O-desmethylangolensin, enterodiol, and enterolactone, the association of equol with UL was significant [Odds ratio (OR) = 1.92, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.09-3.38]. In the WQS model, mixed metabolites of urinary phytoestrogen had a positive association with UL (OR = 1.68, 95%CI: 1.12-2.51), with the highest weighted chemical of equol. In the gpcomp model, equol had the largest positive weight, followed by genistein and enterodiol. In the BKMR model, equol and enterodiol have positive correlation on UL risk, while enterolactone has negative correlation. CONCLUSION: Our results implied a positive association between the mixed metabolites of urinary phytoestrogen and UL. This study provides evidence that urinary phytoestrogen-metabolite mixture was closely related to the risk of female UL.

RESUMO

Objective: At present, the clinical effect of music therapy combined with free position to assist delivery is rarely reported. Based on evidence-based nursing, this study is aimed at exploring the effect of the combination of music therapy and free position delivery on labor pain and maternal and fetal outcomes. Methods: A total of 440 primiparas with vaginal delivery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between July 2018 and July 2019 were selected. They were divided into music therapy, free position delivery group (n = 201) and traditional delivery group (n = 239). Subsequently, the two groups were compared in terms of the Chinese Perception of Labor Pain Questionnaire (PLPQ) score, bleeding amount at 2 hours after birth, perineal injury, labor stage duration, and 1 minute Apgar score. Results: The combination group had better results of the Chinese PLPQ score, postpartum hemorrhage, and perineum condition. However, compared with traditional delivery, a longer duration of the first stage and total stage of labor was found in the combination group. Music therapy combined with free position delivery required less medical intervention during delivery, and there was no significant difference in 1 minute Apgar score between the two groups. Conclusions: Music therapy combined with free position delivery, an intervention based on evidence-based nursing, can effectively reduce maternal labor pain, postpartum hemorrhage, soft birth canal injury, and medical intervention during labor. It is, therefore, a safe intervention to assist delivery.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the diagnosis value of colposcope combined with serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) for moderate to advanced cervical cancer patients treated with modified Fuzheng Peiyuan decoction. METHODS: The clinical data of 43 moderate to advanced cervical cancer patients treated in Suzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2018 to July 2019 were selected for the retrospective analysis, and 43 healthy women undergoing physical examination in our medical center in the same period were selected as the control group. The cervical cancer patients accepted the modified Fuzheng Peiyuan decoction treatment, the detection of SCC-Ag, CA125, and CEA and colposcope examination were performed to all research subjects, and the changes in indicators such as KPS scores and lesion perfusion parameters in cervical cancer patients before and after treatment were monitored, so as to analysis the clinical diagnosis value of combined diagnosis in treated patients. RESULTS: After treatment, the mean KPS scores were greatly higher and various blood perfusion parameters of lesions and serum SCC-Ag, CA125, and CEA levels were remarkably lower than before (P value <0.001 for all); the area under the curve of combined test was significantly larger than that of single test, and the sensitivity and specificity of the combined test were the highest; and after medication, the total incidence rate of toxic and side effects was 11.63%. CONCLUSION: Fuzheng Peiyuan decoction has significant effect in treating moderate to advanced cervical cancer, and colposcope combined with serum test presents more accurate and credible diagnosis results and has great significance for future treatment, which shall be promoted and applied.

RESUMO

Radiotherapy (RT) has been used clinically to overcome cancer in recent decades. However, the abnormal tumor microenvironment (TME), involving hypoxia, acidosis and a dense extracellular matrix, is found to be related to the resistance of tumors to RT. Herein, intelligent bovine serum albumin (BSA)-coated Bi2S3 and MnO2 (Bi2S3-MnO2) nanocomposites synthesized via biomineralization are capable of modulating the hypoxic TME effectively to enhance the efficacy of RT. After intravenous injection, the BSA-Bi2S3-MnO2 nanocomposites show efficient accumulation in tumors, where endogenous H2O2 can react with MnO2 to generate oxygen in situ, leading to increased tumor oxygenation to overcome the hypoxia-associated resistance to RT. Moreover, the photothermal effect induced by the BSA-Bi2S3-MnO2 nanocomposites further relieves hypoxia in the TME and, finally, synergistically improves the effects of RT. In this work, we present a simple strategy to fabricate intelligent therapeutic nanoparticles to improve therapeutic efficiency towards cervical cancer.

RESUMO

The neural representation of auditory duration remains unknown. Here, we used electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings to investigate neural oscillations during the maintenance of auditory duration in working memory (WM). EEG analyses indicated that the auditory duration length was not associated with changes in the theta band amplitude, whereas the alpha band amplitudes during 3-s and 4-s auditory duration conditions were lower than during the 1-s and 2-s conditions. Moreover, the alpha band amplitude and accuracy were positively correlated in the 2-s duration condition. We also found that the neural representation of auditory duration is segmented, with a critical threshold point of approximately 2 s, which is shorter than that for visual duration (3 s). The results emphasised the involvement of the alpha band in auditory duration maintenance in WM. Our study's findings indicate that different internal representations of auditory durations are maintained in WM below and above 2 s from the perspective of electrophysiology. Additionally, the critical threshold point is related to the sensory modality of duration.

RESUMO

In our everyday lives, we need to process auditory and visual temporal information as efficiently as possible. Although automatic auditory time perception has been widely investigated using an index of the mismatch negativity (MMN), the neural basis of automatic visual time perception has been largely ignored. The present study investigated the automatic processing of auditory and visual time perception employing the cross-modal delayed response oddball paradigm. In the experimental condition, the standard stimulus was 200 ms and the deviant stimulus was 120 ms, which were exchanged in the control condition. Reaction time, accuracy, and event-related potential (ERP) data were measured when participants performed the duration discrimination task. The ERP results showed that the MMN, N2b, and P3 were elicited by an auditory deviant stimulus under the attention condition, while only the MMN was elicited under the inattention condition. The MMN was largest over the frontal and central sites, while the difference in MMN amplitude was not significant between under the attention and inattention condition. In contrast, the change-related positivity (CRP) and the visual mismatch negativity (vMMN) were elicited by the visual deviant stimulus under both the attention and inattention conditions. The CRP was largest over the occipito-temporal sites under the attention condition and over the fronto-central sites under the inattention condition. The difference in CRP amplitude was significant between the attention and inattention condition. The vMMN was largest over the parieto-occipital sites under the attention condition, and largest over the fronto-central sites under the inattention condition. The difference in vMMN amplitude was significant between the attention and inattention condition. Auditory MMN does not appear to be modulated by attention, whereas the visual CRP and the vMMN are modulated by attention. Therefore, the present study provides electrophysiological evidence for the existence of automatic visual time perception and supports an "attentional switch" hypothesis for a modality effect on duration judgments, such that auditory temporal information is processed relatively automatically, whereas visual temporal information processing requires controlled attention.

RESUMO

This research used event-related potentials to investigate the time course of temporal information encoding and decision making. Participants performed auditory temporal and pitch discrimination tasks within a S1-S2 matching paradigm, wherein two stimuli (S1-S2) are presented sequentially, and S2 is either the same as or different from S1. Event-related potentials results showed N1, P2 and contingent negative variation (CNV) amplitudes were higher during encoding than decision making. During the encoding phase, N1 and P2 amplitudes were lower in the temporal task than the pitch task. During the decision-making phase, the CNV amplitude was higher in the temporal task. Findings suggest N1, P2 and CNV are related to temporal encoding, albeit only CNV is related to temporal decision making.
