RESUMO

Ulcerative colitis(UC) is a recurrent, intractable inflammatory bowel disease. Coptidis Rhizoma and Bovis Calculus, serving as heat-clearing and toxin-removing drugs, have long been used in the treatment of UC. Berberine(BBR) and ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA), the main active components of Coptidis Rhizoma and Bovis Calculus, respectively, were employed to obtain UDCA-BBR supramolecular nanoparticles by stimulated co-decocting process for enhancing the therapeutic effect on UC. As revealed by the characterization of supramolecular nanoparticles by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) and dynamic light scattering(DLS), the supramolecular nanoparticles were tetrahedral nanoparticles with an average particle size of 180 nm. The molecular structure was described by ultraviolet spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and hydrogen-nuclear magnetic resonance(H-NMR) spectroscopy. The results showed that the formation of the supramolecular nano-particle was attributed to the mutual electrostatic attraction and hydrophobic interaction between BBR and UDCA. Additionally, supramolecular nanoparticles were also characterized by sustained release and pH sensitivity. The acute UC model was induced by dextran sulfate sodium(DSS) in mice. It was found that supramolecular nanoparticles could effectively improve body mass reduction and colon shortening in mice with UC(P<0.001) and decrease disease activity index(DAI)(P<0.01). There were statistically significant differences between the supramolecular nanoparticles group and the mechanical mixture group(P<0.001, P<0.05). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to detect the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin-6(IL-6), and the results showed that supramolecular nanoparticles could reduce serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels(P<0.001) and exhibited an obvious difference with the mechanical mixture group(P<0.01, P<0.05). Flow cytometry indicated that supramolecular nanoparticles could reduce the recruitment of neutrophils in the lamina propria of the colon(P<0.05), which was significantly different from the mechanical mixture group(P<0.05). These findings suggested that as compared with the mechanical mixture, the supramolecular nanoparticles could effectively improve the symptoms of acute UC in mice. The study provides a new research idea for the poor absorption of small molecules and the unsatisfactory therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine and lays a foundation for the research on the nano-drug delivery system of traditional Chinese medicine.

RESUMO

Ammonia (NH3) is a typical pollutant in the atmosphere and is well known for its harmful effects on plants, animals as well as human health. Previous studies have shown that NH3 exposure can cause damage to immune organs and impaired immune function in animals. Selenomethionine is a kind of organic selenium, which can not only promote the growth and development of the body, but also inhibit the generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), and effectively improve the immune function of the body. Therefore, this study evaluated the toxic effect of NH3 exposure on spleen from a new perspective and investigated the protective effect of selenomethionine on ammonia-induced immunotoxicity. Twenty-four Large White*Duroc*Min pigs were randomly assigned to 4 groups: control group, NH3 group, selenium group, and NH3 + selenium group. Our results showed that NH3 inhalation caused autophagy in the pig spleen, a decrease in lymphocytes, and an increase in autophagic vesicles. Also, NH3 exposure led to a decrease in the activity of some antioxidant enzymes (decreased by about 50%) and a significant increase in the expression of genes related to oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). Our results indicated that selenomethionine mitigated ammonia toxicity in pigs (alleviated about 20-55%). In summary, our findings should be of value in providing a theoretical basis for revealing the toxicity of the high-risk gas NH3, and providing a new perspective on the mechanism of Se against toxic substances.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The tradeoff between negative and positive interactions of facilitated species and facilitators may depend on the degree of resource availability in agroecosystems. However, the rhizospheric mechanisms driving trade-offs that occur along phosphorus (P) and water availability gradients have not yet been systematically clarified. We established three types of root isolation conditions (no barrier, nylon barrier and solid barrier) at different P and water addition levels to address the above issue in a maize-grass pea intercropping system. RESULTS: The total yield and biomass net effect (NE) and the relative interaction index (RII) were significantly higher than 0 under all environmental conditions, demonstrating that plant-plant interactions generated positive effects in the intercropping system. The maize yield and biomass RII were 0.029-0.095 and 0.018-0.066, respectively, which indicated that maize growth was constantly facilitated. However, the RII for grass pea yield and biomass exhibited a different trend in comparison with maize. It was higher than 0 (as the facilitated species) under low soil P and moisture conditions and transitioned to values lower than 0 (facilitator species) under high P and moisture conditions, which showed that the type and intensity of plant-plant interactions steadily shifted with the applied stressors. Direct interactions decreased the maize rhizospheric soil pH by 1.5% and 1.9% under Low-P conditions. Notably, the rhizospheric soil acid and alkaline phosphatase secretions of maize and grass pea increased by 17.4-27.4% and 15.3-27.7%, respectively, in P-deficient soils. These results show that plant-plant interactions can effectively relieve P stress by mineralizing organophosphorus in P-deficient soils. Furthermore, the above tendency became more pronounced under drought-stressed conditions. The nylon barrier partially restricted the exchange and utilization of available nutrients and decreased the total yield and biomass by 1.8-7.8% and 1.1-7.8%, respectively. The presence of a solid barrier completely restricted interspecific rhizospheric interactions and decreased the total yield and biomass by 2.1-13.8% and 1.6-15.7%, respectively. Phytate and KH2PO4 addition intensified asymmetric interspecific competition, and grass pea was consistently subjected to competitive pressures. CONCLUSION: Briefly, the tradeoff between facilitation and competition was driven by rhizospheric interactions, and the transition in the intensity and type of interaction was highly dependent on resource availability in a biologically diverse system.

RESUMO

Ammonia is a major harmful gas in the environment of livestock and poultry. Studies have shown that excessive ammonia inhalation has adverse effects in pig heart. However, the mechanism of ammonia-induced cardiac toxicity in pigs has not been reported. L-selenomethionine is a kind of organic selenium (Se) which is easily absorbed by the body. Therefore, in this study, twenty-four 125-day-old pigs were randomly divided into 4 groups: C (control) group, A (ammonia) group, Se group (Se content: 0.5 mg kg-1), and A (ammonia) + Se group. The mechanism of ammonia-induced cardiotoxicity and the alleviating effect of L-selenomethionine were examined. The results in the A group showed as follows: a large number of myocardial fiber edema and cytoplasmic bleakness were observed in the heart; a large number of mitochondrial autophagy were observed; ATP content, ATPase activities and hematological parameters decreased significantly; Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) markers (GRP78, IRE1α, ATF4, ATF6, and CHOP) were significantly induced in the mRNA and protein levels; PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway was activated; and autophagy key genes and proteins (Beclin-1, LC3, ATG3, and ATG5) were significantly up-regulated. The results of comparison between the A + Se group and the A group were as follows: the degree of edema of cardiac muscle fiber in the A + Se group was somewhat relieved; the level of mitochondrial autophagy decreased; ATP content and ATPase activities increased significantly; the mRNA and protein levels of ERS markers were significantly down-regulated; the expression level of PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway was decreased; and the mRNA and protein levels of key autophagy genes were decreased. However, the changes of these indexes in the A + Se group were still significantly different from those in the C group. Our results indicated that L-selenomethionine supplementation inhibited ammonia-induced cardiac autophagy by activating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, which confirmed that L-selenomethionine could alleviate the cardiac injury caused by excessive ammonia inhalation to a certain extent. This study aims to enrich the toxicological mechanism of ammonia and provide valuable reference for future intervention of ammonia toxicity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To develop and validate a sensitive and rapid ultraperformance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for the determination of enasidenib in rat plasma and to investigate the effect of Xiao-ai-ping injection (XAPI) on the pharmacokinetics of enasidenib in rats. METHODS: The rat plasma was precipitated with acetonitrile, enasidenib and internal standard (IS) were separated on an Acquity UPLC BEH C18 column, and acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid were used as the mobile phase in gradient mode. Enasidenib and IS were monitored and detected by multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) using tandem mass spectrometry in positive ion mode. 12 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into control group (group A) and experimental group (group B), 6 rats in each group. Group B was intramuscularly injected with XAPI (0.3 mL/kg) every morning, 7 days in a row. Group A was intramuscularly injected with normal saline, 7 days in a row. On the seventh day, enasidenib (10 mg/kg) was given to both groups 30 min after injection of normal saline (group A) or XAPI (group B), and the blood was collected at different time points such as 0.33, 0.67, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 24, and 48 h. The concentration of enasidenib was detected by UPLC-MS/MS, and the main parameters of pharmacokinetic of enasidenib were calculated using the DAS 2.0 software. RESULTS: Under the current experimental conditions, this UPLC method showed good linearity in the detection of enasidenib. Interday and intraday precision did not exceed 10%, the range of accuracy values were from -1.43% to 2.76%. The results of matrix effect, extraction recovery, and stability met the requirements of FDA approval guidelines of bioanalytical method validation. The C max of enasidenib in the group A and the group B was (458.87 ± 136.02) ng/mL and (661.47 ± 107.32) ng/mL, t 1/2 was (7.74 ± 0.91) h and (8.64 ± 0.42) h, AUC(0 - t) was (4067.24 ± 1214.36) ng·h/mL and (5645.40 ± 1046.30) ng·h/mL, AUC(0 - ∞) was (4125.79 ± 1235.91) ng·h/mL and (5759.61 ± 1078.59) ng·h/mL, respectively. The C max of enasidenib in group B was 44.15% higher than that in group A, and the AUC(0 - t) and AUC(0 - ∞) of enasidenib in group B were 38.80% and 39.60% higher than that in group A, respectively, and the t 1/2 was prolonged from 7.74 h to 8.64 h. CONCLUSION: An UPLC-MS/MS method for the determination of enasidenib in rat plasma was established. XAPI can inhibit the metabolism of enasidenib and increase the concentration of enasidenib in rats. It is suggested that when XAPI was combined with enasidenib, the herb-drug interaction and adverse reactions should be paid attention to, and the dosage should be adjusted if necessary.

RESUMO

Inorganic nanosheets are endowed with many two-dimensional (2D) morphological features including ultra-high specific surface area, ultra-thin thickness, easy functionalization, and so on. They push forward an immense influence on effective cancer diagnosis and therapy, overcoming the inherent limitations of traditional treatment methods. However, long-term toxicity and poor biocompatibility are the critical issues for most inorganic nanosheets, which hinder their further oncological applications and clinical translations. Muscovite, also named white mica (WM), an aluminosilicate, is a major component of traditional Chinese medicine, which can be exfoliated into 2D nanosheets and expected to be a potential drug carrier. In this study, WM powder was exfoliated to prepare WM nanosheets (WMNs) through a polyamine intercalation method. In addition, doxorubicin hydrochloride (Dox) was loaded to WMNs via physical adsorption and electrostatic interaction to prepare Dox-loaded WMNs (Dox@WMNs). Then, we studied that Dox@WMNs released Dox in phosphate buffer saline. We also studied the cellular uptake and cytotoxicity of Dox@WMNs in vitro. The results illustrated that Dox@WMNs cumulatively released Dox much faster and more at acidic pH (6.0 and 4.6) compared with that at physiological pH. In addition, WMNs showed selective cytotoxicity. Within a certain concentration range, WMNs were cytotoxic to Hela cells but non-cytotoxic to RAW 264.7 cells. Compared with cytotoxicity at pH 7.4, the cytotoxicity of Dox@WMNs was significantly enhanced at pH 6.4 and 4.6. WMNs mainly promoted the immunostimulatory polarization of RAW 264.7 cells into M1 macrophages.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/AIM: Cervical cancer is considered poorly chemo-sensitive in women and its treatment remains unsatisfactory. Cyperus rotundus is used in Chinese medicine as a therapeutic agent for women's disease. The effects and molecular mechanisms of the ethanol extraction of C. rotundus (CRE) on cervical cancer remain unclear. We aimed to explore the mechanisms and genetic influence of CRE on cervical cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: HeLa, human cervical cancer cells were treated with various doses of CRE and changes in cell morphology and cell viability were assessed using microscopy and flow cytometry. Finally, we performed a microarray analysis to scan related genes. RESULTS: The treatment of CRE on HeLa cells caused morphological changes and induced chromatin condensation. DNA microarray analysis showed that CRE led to up-regulation of 449 genes and down-regulation of 484 genes, which were classified in several interaction pathways. CONCLUSION: CRE changed HeLa cell morphology and induced gene expression which associated with apoptosis and cell-cycle arrest. These results provide important information at the transcription level for targeting treatments of human cervical cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Wuqinxi is a traditional medicinal exercise that is widely practiced in China now. Because of its obvious medical rehabilitation, Wuqinxi has been used in the physical education for more than 1.2 million people in at least 24 Chinese Medicine university campuses in China for many years. This investigation aimed to evaluate whether Wuqinxi has the positive effect on physical improvements for female college students. METHODS: Infrared scanners were used for real-time monitoring of body calorie dynamics; the electromyography (EMG) was used to detect the iEMG on biceps, brachioradialis, quadriceps, and gastrocnemius; beside, the physical health elements, heart rate and cardiopulmonary function were also taken within the scope of our investigation and records. RESULTS: Wuqinxi exercise can improve the body function through making the abdominal muscles, back muscles and limbs strength exercise more effectively; Wuqinxi exercise had also made the athletes better control their muscles to have a good way to contraction and keeping balance; Moreover, the performances of speed of 800 m run, setting flexion, set-ups and grip strength had a comprehensive promotion for each of the participants including long-time practitioners and short-term practitioners. CONCLUSIONS: Therefore, the new gymnastics derived from ancient Chinese Wuqinxi exercise can improve the physical health of female college students so that it can be used as part of the development of higher education's health quality in the future.

RESUMO

The underlying mechanism of modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) treatment for drug-resistant and catatonic schizophrenia remains unclear. Here, we aim to investigate whether MECT exerts its antipsychotic effects through elevating N-acetylaspartate (NAA) concentration measured by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS). Multiple-voxel H-MRS was acquired in the bilateral prefrontal cortex (PFC) and thalamus to obtain measures of neurochemistry in 32 MECT, 34 atypical antipsychotic-treated schizophrenic patients, and 34 healthy controls. We found that both MECT and atypical antipsychotic treatments showed significant antipsychotic efficacy. MECT and atypical antipsychotic treatments reversed the reduced NAA/creatine ratio (NAA/Cr) in the left PFC and left thalamus in schizophrenic patients compared with healthy controls. Furthermore, the NAA/Cr ratio after treatments was significant higher in the MECT group, but not in the medication group. Our findings demonstrate that eight times of MECT elevated the relative NAA concentration to display neuroprotective effect, which may be the underlying mechanism of rapid antipsychotic efficacy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To explore the feasibility of a new method of achieving a permanent A-V block animal model. METHODS: 16 beagles were randomly divided into two groups based on the method of their pre-implanted biventricular pacemakers. (1) In the first group (8 beagles), the A-V block model was achieved by ablating his-bundle potential at the site of the left ventricular superior-septum, under the aortic sinus, through femoral artery. (2) In the second group (8 beagles), the A-V block model was achieved by ablating his-bundle potential at the triangle of Koch, through femoral vein. A complete A-V block model was achieved as a standard in this study. The success rates, intraoperative arrhythmias, operative and X-ray exposure time, intraoperative bleeding amount were assessed in this two groups, both animal models were followed up for four weeks and then fasted to monitor myocardial pathological changes. RESULTS: The success rate of the first group, which with fewer intraoperative arrhythmias, and less operative and X-ray exposure time, was significantly higher than the second group. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with traditional animal method, our new method of ablating his-bundle potential at the left ventricle from the femoral artery has a higher success rate, fewer occurrence of malignant arrhythmias, and less operation and X-ray time. Thus, our new method should be preferred in the building of Permanent A-V Block Model.

RESUMO

Early onset schizophrenia (EOS) is often associated with poorer outcomes, including lack of school education, higher risk of mental disability and resistance to treatment. But the knowledge of the neurobiological mechanism of EOS is limited. Here, using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, we investigated the possible neurochemical abnormalities in prefrontal cortex (PFC) and thalamus of first-episode drug-naïve patients with EOS, and followed up the effects of atypical antipsychotic treatment for 6 months on neurochemical metabolites and clinical symptoms. We measured the ratios of N-acetylaspartate (NAA), choline (Cho) to creatine (Cr) in 41 adolescents with first episode of EOS and in 28 healthy controls matched for age, gender, and years of education. The EOS patients presented with abnormally low NAA/Cr values in the left PFC and left thalamus with a reduced tendency in the right PFC compared with healthy controls. No significant differences were detected between groups for Cho/Cr in PFC and thalamus in any hemisphere. After atypical antipsychotic treatment for 6 months, the reduced NAA/Cr in the left PFC and left thalamus in EOS patients was elevated to the normal level in healthy controls, without any alteration in Cho/Cr. We also found that there was no significant correlation between the neurochemical metabolite ratios in the PFC and thalamus in patients with EOS, and clinical characteristics. Our results suggest that there was neurochemical metabolite abnormalities in PFC and thalamus in EOS patients, atypical antipsychotic treatment can effectively relieve the symptoms and restore the reduced NAA in PFC and thalamus.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Chai-Qin-Cheng-Qi Decoction (, CQCQD) on acute pancreatitis-associated lung injury in mice with acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP). METHODS: Thirty healthy mice were randomly divided into three groups: an ANP group (ANP+placebo, n=10); a treatment group (ANP+CQCQD, n=10); and a control group (normal mice+placebo, n=10). ANP was induced by intraperitoneal injection with 8% L-arginine (4 µg/kg), and the control group was injected with normal saline. The treatment group received CQCQD (20 mL/kg), and the ANP and control groups received placebo (sucrose and starch) intragastrically at 2 h intervals. After the third intragastric administration, blood, pancreatic tissues and right lung tissues were collected for measurement of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) in lung tissue was determined by Western blot analysis. Pathological changes of pancreatic tissue and lung tissue were examined. RESULTS: Serum IL-6 was significantly higher in the ANP group compared with the control and the treatment groups (1589.63±377.28 vs. 927.46±210.42 pg/mL, P<0.05, and 1589.63±377.28 vs. 1107.73±351.62 pg/mL, P<0.05, respectively). The IL-10 concentration was significantly lower in the ANP group compared with the treatment group (920.64±101.68 vs. 1177.84±201.72 pg/mL, P<0.05), but no signififi cant difference was found between the ANP and control groups and between the treatment and control groups. The expression level of HSP70 in the ANP and control groups was signififi cantly lower than in the treatment group (0.93±0.03 vs. 1.42±0.21, P<0.01, and 0.81±0.09 vs. 1.42±0.21, P<0.01, respectively). There was no signififi cant difference in HSP70 levels between the ANP and control groups. Histological scores of pancreatic and lung tissue were significantly decreased in the treatment group compared with the ANP groups (4.50±0.54 vs. 6.20±1.65, P<0.05, and 3.00±0.63 vs. 3.87±0.83, P<0.05, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of acute pancreatitisassociated lung injury in ANP mice correlates positively with serum IL-6 concentration. CQCQD may inhibit IL-6 induction and increase IL-10 concentration and HSP70 expression, effectively reducing lung injury.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Chai Qin Cheng Qi decoction (CQCQD) on serum cholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8) and calcium overload of pancreatic acinar cells in acute pancreatitis (AP) mice. METHODS: Twenty four mice were randomly divided into control group, AP group, CQCQD group and siRNA group, each comprising 6 mice. AP mouse model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of 8% L-arginine in a dose of 4 g/kg. The AP mice in the CQCQD group were fed with 0.4 mL/100 g of Chai Qin Cheng Qi solution once every two hours. The AP mice in the siRNA group were injected intraperitoneally with CCK-siRNA in a dose of 0.88 mg/kg. The changes of serum CCK-8 and calcium concentrations in the pancreatic acinar cells and pancreatic pathology were observed 6 hours after the interventions. RESULTS: The serum CCK-8 [(3764.3 +/- 369.2) ng/mL], calcium fluorescence intensity (34.8 +/- 27.1) of pancreatic acinar cells and pancreas pathology scores (6.2 +/- 1.1) of the AP mice were significantly greater (P < 0.05) than those in the control group [(1253.5 +/- 39.5) ng/mL, 5.2 +/- 2.3, 2.8 +/- 0.4], CQCQD group [(1230.5 +/- 46.1) ng/mL, 9.6 +/- 1.6, 3.8 +/- 0.8, 4.1 +/- 0.5] and siRNA group[(1702.3 +/- 598.3) ng/mL, 7.6 +/- 2.0]. Serum CCK-8 was positively correlated with intracellular calcium concentrations (r = 0.793, P = 0.021) in pancreatic acinar cells and pancreas pathology scores (r = 0.847, P = 0.000). CONCLUSION: Acute pancreatitis in mice induced by L-arginine is associated with calcium overload in pancreatic acinar cells induced by increased serum CCK-8. CQCQD can reduce serum levels of CCK-8, alleviate calcium overload in pancreatic acinar cells, and reduce pancreas pathological changes in AP mice.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the pathohistological characteristics of the prostate tissues in patients who receive a second TURP and to evaluate their clinical significance. METHODS: We collected surgical specimens from 50 cases of TURP (the control group) and another 50 cases of re-TURP (the re-TURP group), detected the expressions of CD34, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and androgen receptor (AR) in the prostate tissues by immunohistochemistry (S-P), and determined microvessel density (MVD) and the expressions of VEGF and AR. We performed statistical analyses on the results obtained from the specimens of the control group as well as from those of the first and second operations of the re-TURP group. RESULTS: VEGF and AR expressed in all the specimens. The expressions of VEGF and AR and MVD were significantly higher in the re-TURP group than in the controls (P < 0.05), but showed no significant differences between the first and second operations in the re-TURP group (P > 0.05). Positive correlations were found between the expressions of AR and VEGF, VEGF and MVD, and AR and MVD (r = 0.650, 0.705 and 0.525, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Increased AR, VEGF and MVD in the prostatic tissues may be one of the important causes of recurrence of BPH after TURP, and could be considered as the risk factors for postoperative recurrence and targeted indicators for preventive measures.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Resistin level is high in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), and resistin is expected to be a new marker for evaluating the severity of acute pancreatitis. OBJECTIVE: To explore the influence of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy on serum resistin levels in SAP patients. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS: Twenty-eight SAP patients meeting inclusion criteria from Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University were included, and the patients were randomly divided into treatment group and placebo group. There were 13 patients in the treatment group and 15 patients in the placebo group. Patients in the treatment group were given traditional Chinese herbal medicine in addition to the conventional treatment. Patients in the placebo group were given placebo in addition to the conventional treatment. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The serum resistin levels on admission, and days 1, 3, 5, and 7 after the admission were detected. RESULTS: The serum resistin levels on admission in all the patients were higher than normal level, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). On days 1, 3, 5, and 7 after admission, the resistin levels in the treatment group were (3.29 + or - 1.66) microg/L, (3.71 + or - 1.05) microg/L, (3.08 + or - 1.47) microg/L and (3.62 + or - 1.67) microg/L, and in the control group (5.16 + or - 1.93) microg/L, (5.07 + or - 1.53) microg/L, (4.88 + or - 1.47) microg/L and (5.12 + or - 1.48) microg/L, respectively. The resistin levels were lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Serum resistin level in SAP patients can be decreased by integrated traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine therapy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To probe into an effective injection way of Morphine for treatment of chest pain of acute cardiac infarction. METHODS: Ninety cases of myocardial infarction were randomly divided into 3 groups, an acupoint-injection group, an intravenous injection group and a hypodermic injection group, 30 cases in each group. The acupoint-injection group were treated with injection of 2 mg Morphine into bilateral Neiguan (PC 6) respectively, and the intravenous injection group with intravenous injection of 5 mg Morphine and the hypodermic injection group with hypodermic injection of 5 mg Morphine, and other treatments were same in the 3 groups. The analgesic effects were assessed with visual analogue scale (VAS) 5, 10, 30, 60 and 180 minutes after treatment and the complications were observed. RESULTS: There were no significant differences among the 3 groups before treatment in the VAS score (P > 0.05). The analgesic effect in the acupoint-injection group was better than those in other two groups 5 min, 30 min and 180 min after treatment (all P < 0.01). The incidence rate of nausea and vomiting of 0.3% in the acupoint-injection group was significantly lower than 40.0% in the intravenous injection group and 20.0% in the hy podermic injection group (all P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Injection of small dose of Morphine into Neiguan (PC 6) has a definite therapeutic effect on chest pain of acute myocardial infarction with earlier analgesic effect, smaller dose of Morphine, longer analgesic duration and less complications.

RESUMO

New long phosphorescent phosphors Ba(1 -x),Ca(x)Al2O4 : Eu2+, RE3+ (RE3+ = Dy3+, Nd3+) with tunable color emission have been prepared by solid state reaction. The luminescence properties of the samples are discussed and analyzed. The emission spectra show that the tuning range of the color emission of the phosphors is between 498 and 440 nm, which is determined by x, under the excitation of UV. The wavelength of afterglow increases with increasing x until x equals 0.6, and when x equals 0.6, the luminescence property of Ba(1-x) Ca(x)Al2O4: Eu2+, RE3+ (RE3+ = Dy3+, Nd3+) is similar to that of CaAl2O4 : Eu2+, RE3+. The XRD measurements were performed to investigate the single phase states of the samples, and it was found that the single phase limit in the phosphors is below an x value of 0.4. The thermoluminescence curves imply that the traps in the hosts are different with different x value, which well explains the varying delay time of the samples.
