RESUMO

To investigate the difference between rumen-protected niacin (RPN) and rumen-protected nicotinamide (RPM) in the transcriptome of genes relating to the lipid metabolism of the liver of periparturient dairy cows, 10 healthy Chinese Holstein cows were randomly divided into two groups and fed diets supplemented with 18.4 g/d RPN or 18.7 g/d RPM, respectively. The experiment lasted from 14 days before to 21 days after parturition. Liver biopsies were taken 21 days postpartum for transcriptomic sequencing. In addition, human LO2 cells were cultured in a medium containing 1.6 mmol/L of non-esterified fatty acids and 1 mmol/L niacin (NA) or 2 mmol/L nicotinamide (NAM) to verify the expression of the 10 genes selected from the transcriptomic analysis of the liver biopsies. The expression of a total of 9837 genes was detected in the liver biopsies, among which 1210 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, with 579 upregulated and 631 downregulated genes. These DEGs were associated mainly with lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, and some inflammatory pathways. Gene ontology (GO) enrichment analysis showed that 355 DEGs were enriched in 38 GO terms. The differences in the expression of these DEGs between RPN and RPM were predominantly related to the processes of steroid catabolism, steroid hydroxylase, monooxygenase activity, oxidoreductase activity, hemoglobin binding, and ferric iron binding, which are involved mainly in lipid anabolism and redox processes. The expressions of FADS2, SLC27A6, ARHGAP24, and THRSP in LO2 cells were significantly higher (p < 0.05) while the expressions of BCO2, MARS1, GARS1, S100A12, AGMO, and OSBPL11 were significantly lower (p < 0.05) on the NA treatment compared to the NAM treatment, indicating that NA played a role in liver metabolism by directly regulating fatty acid anabolism and transport, inflammatory factor expression, and oxidative stress; and NAM functioned more as a precursor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD, coenzyme I) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP, coenzyme II) to participate indirectly in biological processes such as ether lipid metabolism, cholesterol metabolism, energy metabolism, and other processes.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To establish a Bayesian network (BN) model to predict the survival of patients with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) treated with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). METHODS: The clinicopathological data of 154 MPM patients treated with CRS + HIPEC at our hospital from April 2015 to November 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. They were randomly divided into two groups in a 7:3 ratio. Survival analysis was conducted on the training set and a BN model was established. The accuracy of the model was validated using a confusion matrix of the testing set. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and area under the curve were used to evaluate the overall performance of the BN model. RESULTS: Survival analysis of 107 patients (69.5%) in the training set found ten factors affecting patient prognosis: age, Karnofsky performance score, surgical history, ascites volume, peritoneal cancer index, organ resections, red blood cell transfusion, pathological types, lymphatic metastasis, and Ki-67 index (all p < 0.05). The BN model was successfully established after the above factors were included, and the BN model structure was adjusted according to previous research and clinical experience. The results of confusion matrix obtained by internal validation of 47 cases in the testing set showed that the accuracy of BN model was 72.7%, and the area under ROC was 0.74. CONCLUSIONS: The BN model was established successfully with good overall performance and can be used as a clinical decision reference.

RESUMO

Clinical efficacy is the basis for the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), and the evaluation of clinical efficacy of TCM has always been the focus of attention. The technical and methodological difficulties in the evaluation process often restrict the generation of high-level evidence. Therefore, methodological research should be deepened and innovative practice should be carried out to study the application of scientific research methods in the evaluation of the advantages of TCM. After more than ten years of development, the clinical efficacy evaluation of TCM, on the basis of the initially classic placebo randomized controlled trials, has successively carried out a series of meaningful attempts and explorations in N-of-1 trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, cross-sectional studies, real world studies, narrative medicine studies, systematic evaluation, and other aspects, laying the foundation for the transformation of TCM from "experience" to "evidence". This paper focused on the clinical efficacy evaluation of TCM, summarized the main connotation and development status of efficacy evaluation indicators, standards, and methods, and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the problems of indicator selection, standard formulation, and methodology optimization in the research process. It is clear that scientific and objective evaluation of the efficacy of TCM is an urgent problem to be solved at present.

RESUMO

Amid the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), the safety of TCM has attracted much attention. At the moment, the government, scientific research teams, and pharmaceutical enterprises have made great efforts to explore methods and techniques for clinical safety evaluation of TCM. Although considerable achievements have been made, there are still many problems, such as the non-standard terms of adverse reactions of TCM, unclear evaluation indicators, unreasonable judgment methods, lack of evaluation models, out-of-date evaluation standards, and unsound reporting systems. Therefore, it is urgent to further deepen the research mode and method of clinical safety evaluation of TCM. Based on the current national requirements for the life-cycle management of drugs, this study focused on the problems in the five dimensions of clinical safety evaluation of TCM, including normative terms, evaluation modes, judgment methods, evaluation standards, and reporting systems, and proposed suggestions on the development of a life-cycle clinical safety evaluation method that conformed to the characteristics of TCM, hoping to provide a reference for future research.

RESUMO

External stimulus such as light irradiation is able to deteriorate intracellular redox homeostasis and induce photooxidative damage to non-photogenic bacteria. Exploiting effective strategies to help bacteria resisting infaust stress is meaningful for achieving a stable operation of biological treatment system. In this work, selenium-doped carbon quantum dots (Se-CQDs) were blended into anaerobic ammonia oxidation (anammox) bacteria and an inorganic nanoparticle-microbe hybrid was successfully fabricated to evaluate its nitrogen removal performance under solar-simulated irradiation. It was found that the specific anammox activity decreased by 29.7 ± 5.2% and reactive oxygen species (ROS) content increased by 134.8 ± 4.1% under 50,000 lux light. Sludge activity could be completely recovered under the optimum dosage of 0.42 mL·(g volatile suspended solid) -1 Se-CQDs. Hydroxyl radical (·OH) and superoxide anion radical (·O2-) were identified as the leading ROS inducing lipid peroxidation and antioxidase function detriment. Also, the structure of ladderane lipids located on anammoxosome was destroyed by ROS and functional genes abundances declined accordingly. Although cell surface coated Se-CQDs could absorb ultraviolet light and partially mitigated the photoinhibition, the direct scavenging of ROS by intracellular Se-CQDs primarily contributed to the cellular redox homeostasis, antioxidase activity recovery and sludge activity improvement. The findings of this work provide in-depth understanding the metabolic response mechanism of anammox consortia to light irradiation and might be valuable for a more stable and sustainable nitrogen removal technology, i.e., algal-bacterial symbiotic system, development.

RESUMO

Acute-exacerbation chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) is mainly associated with acute respiratory tract infection. In recent years, a growing number of studies have found that Tanreqing capsule (TRQ) has a favorable anti-inflammatory effect. In this study, we used network pharmacology and pharmacodynamics to explore the molecular mechanism and effects of TRQ in AECOPD treatment. To further understand the molecular mechanism of TRQ in AECOPD treatment, we used the network pharmacology to predict components of TRQ, TRQ-related targets, AECOPD-related targets, and pathways. In addition, we used the cigarette-smoke/lipopolysaccharide -induced AECOPD experimental model in Sprague-Dawley rats (72 rats randomly divided into six groups [n = 12 each]: control, model, high-TRQ [TRQ-H], medium-TRQ [TRQ-M], low-TRQ, and dexamethasone [Dex]) to evaluate the therapeutic effects of TRQ and to verify the network pharmacology. We found that 59 overlapping targets based on component-and AECOPD-related targets were frequently involved in the advanced glycation end product-receptor for advanced glycation end product signaling pathway in diabetic complications, the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase-protein kinase B signaling pathway, and the hypoxia-inducible factor 1 signaling pathway, which might play important roles in the anti-inflammatory mechanism of TRQ in AECOPD treatment. Moreover, TRQ groups exerted protective effects against AECOPD by reducing the infiltration of inflammatory cells. Meanwhile, TRQ-M and TRQ-H groups significantly downregulated or upregulated the expression of tumor necrosis factor, interleukin (IL) 6, C-reactive protein, IL10, and serum amyloid A, as key targets in network pharmacology, in the serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid to achieve anti-inflammatory efficacy. Our study showed that TRQ had better anti-inflammatory efficacy against AECOPD, and initially elucidated its molecular mechanism. Moreover, our study also provides a new strategy to explore effective mechanism of TRQ against AECOPD; and further studies are needed to validate the biological processes and pathways of TRQ against AECOPD.

RESUMO

Context: Stroke is an acute cerebrovascular disease and a neurological disorder that occurs due to a cerebral arterial embolism and rupture. Acute stroke is often accompanied by dysphagia, which reduces patients' intake of food and nutrients, decreases their nutritional status, and affects their quality of life. Objective: The study intended to identify the demographic and clinical characteristics of stroke patients with dysphagia and to explore the relationship of those characteristics to nutritional status and prognosis. Methods: The research team retrospectively collected the clinical data of patients to compare the nutritional status and prognoses of patients with different demographic and clinical characteristics. Setting: The study took place in the Department of Neurology at the First People's Hospital of Shenyang in Shenyang, China. Participants: Participants were 789 stroke patients with dysphagia who had been admitted to the general ward of the neurology departments of hospitals of Grade 3 or higher in Northeast China between January 2019 and September 2020. Based on the results of the Nutrition Risk Screening (NRS-2002) and Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) scales at baseline, participants were enrolled in this study. Outcome Measures: The outcomes were the correlations between participants' demographic and clinical characteristics and their nutritional statuses and prognoses. The Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was used to evaluate the prognosis of the patients at seven days and three months after participants' enrollment in the study. Using the SPSS 26.0, a t test, chi-square test, and F test were performed to analyze and verify the presence of fundamental differences in baseline characteristics between participants with good nutrition and those with poor nutrition. Also, a statistical correlation analysis was performed. Results: The study showed that participants with different nutritional levels had statistically significant differences in the presence or absence of infections and body temperature and scores on the Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), with all P < .001. At baseline seven days after enrollment, the prognoses of participants were significantly different for different previous histories of stroke (P < .001), family history of stroke (P = .005), presence or absence of infections (P < .001), body temperature (P < .001), and SSA (P < .001) and NIHSS (P < .001) scale scores. At three months after enrollment, the prognoses of participants were significantly different for previous history of stroke (P = .003), different body temperatures (P < .001), presence or absence of infections(P < .001), and SSA (P < .001) and NIHSS (P < .001) scale scores. Age, gender, family history of stroke, smoking, alcohol consumption, previous history of stroke, education level, SSA scale score, NIHSS scale score, body mass index (BMI), body temperature, and infection were adjusted in the model. Nutritional status as classified by NRS-2002 and SGA was significantly correlated with prognosis (P < .001). The prognosis of stroke patients with dysphagia was associated with nutritional status by unconditional logistic regression. Conclusion: The prognosis of stroke patients with dysphagia is related to their nutritional status. A better nutritional status indicates the better prognosis, and vice versa. In clinical treatment, attention should be paid to use of a nutritional intervention.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate independent factors for the efficacy and safety of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of diffuse malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (DMPM). METHODS: The clinical database of 110 DMPM patients treated with CRS + HIPEC at our hospital was retrospectively analyzed. Independent prognostic factors were screened using univariate and multivariate analyses and the safety of the perioperative period was evaluated based on adverse events. RESULTS: Among the 110 patients with DMPM, 34 (30.9%) had a peritoneal cancer index (PCI) < 20 and 76 (69.1%) had PCI ≥20; 59 (53.6%) patients achieved completeness of cytoreduction (CC) 0/1 and 51 (46.4%) cases achieved CC 2/3. At the median follow-up of 43.3 (95%CI: 37.3-49.4) months, 48 (43.6%) patients were still alive and 62 (56.4%) patients died. The median overall survival was 32.6 months. Serious adverse events (SAEs) occurred in 41 patients (37.3%) and the perioperative mortality rate was 2.7%. Univariate analysis identified nine prognostic factors: Karnofsky performance status score, perioperative tumor markers, PCI, red blood cell infusion, pathological type, vascular tumor emboli, lymphatic metastasis, Ki-67 index, and perioperative SAEs (all p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis identified four independent prognostic factors: pathological type (p = 0.007), vascular tumor emboli (p = 0.044), Ki-67 index (p = 0.044), and SAEs (p = 0.004). CONCLUSIONS: CRS + HIPEC for DMPM treatment resulted in prolonged survival with acceptable safety. Tumor pathology and SAEs are key factors for successful CRS + HIPEC.

RESUMO

Background Heart failure (HF) is an emerging epidemic in China and accounts for significant healthcare resource utilization in the inpatient setting. To create evidence-based, life-saving, and cost-saving hospitalization systems, the first step is to characterize the contemporary national landscape of inpatient HF care. Methods and Results In the China PEACE 5r-HF study (China Patient-centered evaluative Assessment of Cardiac Events Retrospective Study of Heart Failure), we used 2-stage random sampling to create a nationally representative cohort of 10 004 admissions for HF from 189 hospitals in 2015 in China. Data on patient characteristics, management, and outcomes were obtained through centralized medical record abstraction. The median age of the cohort was 73 years (interquartile range, 65-80), and 48.9% were women. More than half (56.2%) of the patients were hospitalized in rural areas. Prevalence of ejection fraction ≥50%, 40% to 50%, and <40% was 60.3%, 17.7%, and 22.0%, respectively. We identified substantial gaps in care, including underutilization of diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms (63.6%), chest imaging (75.2%), and biomarker testing (56.4%), low prescription rates of guideline-recommended medications during hospitalization and at discharge, suboptimal rates of follow-up appointments (24.3%), and widespread utilization of traditional Chinese medicine (74.8%). The combined rate of in-hospital mortality and treatment withdrawal in our study was 3.5%, and median length-of-stay was 9 days (interquartile range, 7-13). Conclusions Patients admitted with acute HF in China have distinctive epidemiology and receive substandard care, but have low inpatient mortality despite long length of stay. These findings provide opportunities for streamlining efficiencies while improving quality of inpatient HF care in China. Clinical Trial Registration URL: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov. RESUMO

The present study was conducted to determine the effect of dietary N-carbamoylglutamate (NCG) supplementation on the growth performance, antioxidant capability and immune responses of mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio) fed an arginine (Arg)-deficient diet. A total of 630 mirror carp (41.65 ±â€¯0.14 g) were fed diets (Arg 1.24% of the diet) that were supplemented with 0.50% Arg (control diet) or graded levels of NCG at 0 (Arg deficiency diet), 0.04%, 0.08%, 0.12%, 0.16% and 0.20% for 8 weeks. The results showed that, compared with the control diet, the Arg-deficient diet supplementation with 0 NCG (1) decreased the final body weight (FWB), the weight gain rate (WGR) or the protein efficiency ratio (PER) and increased the feed conversion ratio (FCR); (2) decreased the concentration of Arg and nitric oxide (NO) and the activity of total nitric oxide synthetase (T-NOS) in the plasma; (3) decreased the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the proximal intestine (PI), catalase (CAT) in the PI and distal intestine (DI), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in PI and mid-intestine (MI) and increased the concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the PI, MI and DI; and (4) decreased the activity of lysozyme in the plasma, increased the relative mRNA expression of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin1ß (IL-1ß) and interleukin 8 (IL-8) in the PI, MI and DI, and decreased the relative mRNA expression of interleukin 10 (IL-10) in the PI and MI, and transforming growth factor ß2 (TGF-ß2) in the PI, MI and DI. Compared with the Arg deficient-diet supplementation with 0 NCG, (1) 0.12% or 0.16% NCG increased the FBW, WGR and PER, and 0.16% NCG increased the FCR; (2) 0.08%-0.20% NCG increased the concentration of Arg, NO and the activity of T-NOS; (3) 0.08% NCG increased the activities of SOD in the PI and MI, and 0.12% NCG increased activities of CAT and GPx in the PI, MI and DI; and (4) 0.04%-0.20% NCG increased the activity of lysozyme, 0.04%-0.20% NCG decreased the relative mRNA expression of TNF-α, IL-1ß and IL-8 in the PI and MI, and 0.04%-0.20% NCG increased the relative mRNA expression of IL-10 and TGF-ß2 in the PI and MI. The present results indicated that dietary 0.12% or 0.16% NCG improved the growth performance, feed utilization, intestinal antioxidant capacity and immune response of mirror carp fed an Arg-deficient diet.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Amid national efforts to improve the quality of care for people with cardiovascular disease in China, the use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is increasing, yet little is known about its use in the early management of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS AND RESULTS: We aimed to examine intravenous use of TCM within the first 24 hours of hospitalization (early IV TCM) for AMI. Data come from the China Patient-centered Evaluative Assessment of Cardiac Events Retrospective Study of Acute Myocardial Infarction, restricted to a large, representative sample of Western medicine hospitals throughout China (n=162). We conducted a chart review of randomly sampled patients with AMI in 2001, 2006, and 2011, comparing early intravenous TCM use across years, predictors of any early intravenous TCM use, and association with in-hospital bleeding and mortality. From 2001 to 2011, early intravenous TCM use increased (2001: 38.2% versus 2006: 49.1% versus 2011: 56.1%; P<0.01). Nearly all (99%) hospitals used early intravenous TCM. Salvia miltiorrhiza was most commonly prescribed, used in one third (35.5%) of all patients admitted with AMI. Patients receiving any early intravenous TCM, compared with those who did not, were similar in age and sex and had fewer cardiovascular risk factors. In multivariable hierarchical models, admission to a secondary (versus tertiary) hospital was most strongly associated with early intravenous TCM use (odds ratio: 2.85; 95% confidence interval: 1.98-4.11). Hospital-level factors accounted for 55% of the variance (adjusted median odds ratio: 2.84). In exploratory analyses, there were no significant associations between early intravenous TCM and in-hospital bleeding or mortality. CONCLUSIONS: Early intravenous TCM use for AMI in China is increasing despite the lack of evidence of their benefit or harm. There is an urgent need to define the effects of these medications because they have become a staple of treatment in the world's most populous country. RESUMO

A phytochemical investigation of an ethyl acetate extract of the aerial parts of Isodon pharicus led to the isolation of 21 new 7α,20-epoxy-ent-kaurane diterpenoids, pharicins C-W (1-21), and 29 known (22-50) analogues. The structural characterization of 1-21 and assignment of their relative configurations were accomplished by spectroscopic data interpretation, while the structures of 1 and 16 were confirmed by X-ray crystallography. The absolute stereostructure of 1 was confirmed by electronic circular dichroism data analysis. Twenty-five of the diterpenoids were screened for their cytotoxic activities against a panel of tumor cell lines, including HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7, and SW-480. Compounds 11, 16, 38, and 48 exhibited inhibitory activities against these tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 1.01 to 9.62 µM, while 2, 15, 29, and 47 exhibited moderate cytotoxic potency.

RESUMO

Seven previously undescribed 7,20-epoxy-ent-kaurane diterpenoids, isojiangrubesins A-G, along with seventeen known ones, were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon rubescens. Their structures were characterized on the basis of spectroscopic methods and signal-crystal X-ray diffraction. All of these compounds were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicity against five human tumor cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7, and SW480). Four isolates exhibited significant inhibitory ability against all cell lines, with IC50 values ranging from 0.5 to 6.5 µM; They also strongly inhibited NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells.

RESUMO

The most widely used measurements of mindfulness are the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). However, controversies exist regarding the application of these scales. Additionally, the neural mechanisms of dispositional mindfulness havebecome a topic of interest. In the current study, we used surface-based methodology to identify the brain regions underlying individual differences in dispositional mindfulness in a large non-clinical sampleand compared the two instruments for measuring the dispositional mindfulness. The results indicated that theMAAS scores were significantly associated with increased greymatter volumes in the right precuneus and the significant association between the precuneus and depression symptomatology was mediated by MAAS scores. Regarding the FFMQ, the Describing, Nonjudging, and Nonreactivity facets were selectively associated with the cortical volume, thickness and surface area of multiple prefrontal regions as well as the inferior parietal lobule. Importantly, Describing mediated the association between the dorsolateral PFC volume and the cognitive reappraisal strategies of emotion regulation. These resultssuggested that the MAASwere mainly associated with self-awareness, while the FFMQ facets were selectively involved in emotion regulation, attention control and self-awareness. Therefore, this study characterized the differences in inter-individual variability between the two typical measurements of dispositional mindfulnessand the correlations between those measurements and imaging analyses.

RESUMO

Fourteen new diterpenoids (1-14) based on four skeletal types and two known analogues (15 and 16) were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon scoparius. Compound 2 is the first ent-kaurane diterpenoid featuring a 1,11-ether bridge, and the structures of these new compounds were established mainly by NMR and MS methods. The absolute configurations of 1 and 5 and the relative configuration of 3 were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The absolute configuration of 14 was determined by comparison of the experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism spectra. Compounds 1, 4, and 15 were active against five human tumor cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7, and SW-480), and they also inhibited NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells, with IC50 values of 1.0, 3.1, and 1.8 µM, respectively.

RESUMO

Sixteen dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans, including eight new ones, kadheterins A-H (1-8), and a new natural product, 9-benzoyloxy-gomisin B (9), were isolated from the stems of K. heteroclita. The structures of 1-9 were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods, and their absolute configurations were determined by combining CD with ROESY experiments. Additionally, the absolute configuration of 1 was further confirmed by single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis. In vitro activity assays showed that 1 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity against HL-60 with IC50 value at 14.59µM.

RESUMO

Four new ent-abietane diterpenoids, along with four known ones were isolated from the aerial parts of Isodon serra, a traditional Chinese folk medicine. The new diterpenoids were named as serrin K (1), xerophilusin XVII (2), and enanderianins Q and R (3 and 4), while the known ones were identified as rubescansin J (5), (3α,14ß)-3,18-[(1-methylethane-1,1-diyl)dioxy]-ent-abieta-7,15(17)-diene-14,16-diol (6), xerophilusin XIV (7), and enanderianin P (8), respectively. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the literature. Compound 1 showed remarkable inhibitory activity towards NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells (IC50 = 1.8 µM) and weak cytotoxicity towards five human tumor cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7, SW480).

RESUMO

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the supplementation of vitamin D3 on the growth, vitamin D metabolites, and osteocalcin secretion in juvenile Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii). A 90-day growth trial was conducted with juvenile Siberian sturgeon (initial body weight 3.47 ± 0.14 g) fed seven isonitrogenous and isoenergetic practical diets (45% CP and 13% lipid) containing 60 (basal diet), 240, 450, 880, 1670, 3300, or 1.0 × 105 IU/kg feed (D60~D 1.0 × 105) vitamin D3. The results showed that weight gain and specific growth rate increased as the dietary vitamin D3 levels increased from 450 to 3300 IU/kg (P < 0.05). The fish fed with D1670 and D3300 diets had higher crude lipid and ash levels than the fish fed the D60 diet (P < 0.05). The fish fed D880, D1670, or D3300 diets had higher 25-OH-D3 and 1,25-(OH)2-D3 levels than the fish fed the D60 diet (P < 0.05). The fish fed D880, D1670, D3300, or D1.0 × 105 diets had higher osteocalcin levels than the fish fed the D60 diet (P < 0.05). Based on the broken line method analysis of weight gain and osteocalcin, the dietary vitamin D3 requirement of juvenile Siberian sturgeon was estimated to be 1683.30 and 1403.27 IU/kg per diet, respectively.
