RESUMO

Streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats is accompanied by development of diabetic complications such as neuropathies. It was shown that aldose reductase inhibitors (A1-1576, sorbinil and unithiol) administration partially normalized not only polyol pathway. Aldose reductase inhibitors partially restored Na+, K(+)-ATP-ase activity in sciatic nerve of diabetic rats and redox state of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotides. The sorbitol level increases in streptozotocin-diabetic rats as compared to control. Administration of aldose reductase inhibitors to diabetic rats is accompanied by partial reduction of sorbitol level in sciatic nerve. The results obtained confirm the important role of a dose reductase inhibitors, as antidiabetic drugs, in the improvement of diabetic neuropathy.

RESUMO

On the basis multiannual personal experience in millimeter resonance therapy in the treatment of several diseases (diabetes mellitus, ulcers, etc. [correction of and oth]) data are reported on substantiating the theory of sanogenesis of this method. Various biochemical, immunological, hormonal studies in the experiment and clinic indicate that the basis of the treatment effect of electromagnetic radiation is restoration of homeostasis by activation of compensatory systems. The levels and systems influenced by electromagnetic radiation are indicated. The stage-like character of these influences is stressed.

RESUMO

It has been established during studies carried out in 195 diabetes mellitus patients that the action of microwave resonance therapy on the points used in traditional acupuncture accelerates carbohydrate metabolism compensation, improves peripheral circulation. The beneficial effect of microwave resonance therapy on the clinical and metabolic characteristics in diabetes mellitus patients is likely to be determined by the lowering of the content of certain contrainsular hormones (cortisol, adrenaline) and by the improvement of the parameters of the T-cell immunity system.

RESUMO

Alterations in the content and structure of CoA moiety typical of hyperlipogenesis (a rise in total and free CoA levels, a drop in short-chained fatty acyl-CoA/CoA and long-chained fatty acyl-CoA/CoA ratios) were found in the liver of obese mice with non-insulin-dependent diabetes (db/db). The treatment of diabetic mice with nicotinamide, an antilipemic drug, was accompanied by a decrease in total and free CoA levels and a rise in short-chained fatty acyl-CoA content and short-chained fatty acyl-CoA/CoA and long-chained fatty acyl-CoA/CoA ratios, probably leading to the inhibition of the enzymes of primary lipogenesis steps. It is suggested that CoA moiety structure is essential as an integral index regulating the rate of fatty acid biosynthesis in diabetes mellitus.

RESUMO

Experiments on Wistar male rats have shown that in 2 weeks the administration of streptozotocin results in an increase in relative kidney mass by 23%, the development of submicroscopic rearrangements indicating the hypertrophy of the main glomerular components and the acceleration of ultrafiltration. In one month a sharp widening of the lumens of capillaries and intersubosseous spaces, inflammatory symptoms, and signs of primary urine congestion are noted in parallel with hypertrophic changes. The relative kidney mass increases by 73.5% (p less than 0.01). The use of the aldose reductase blocker isodibut prevents, to a great extent, the development of ultrastructural changes in a glomerulus detected one month after administration of streptozotocin, improves ultrafiltration and inhibits a sharp increase in kidney mass, i. e. it prevents disorder of renal excretory function at the initial stages of experimental diabetes.

RESUMO

Administration of nicotinamide (NA) is followed by a pronounced hypoglycemic effect with a simultaneous decrease of glucose content in the lens, sciatic nerve and aorta at manifest streptozotocin-induced diabetes and also by a complete normalization of parameters of the intraperitoneal glucose-tolerance test in rats with a "diabetic" type of glucose tolerance. A 14-day NA treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus results in the improvement of the glycemic profile, a decrease of glucosuria and the blood serum level of protein-bound hexoses as well as positive shifts in the condition of the cardiovascular and nervous systems.
