Objective: To explore the difference in gut microbiota between different traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndromes in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and its internal relationship. Methods: From June 2020 to August 2021, 109 colorectal cancer patients with a clear pathological diagnosis who had not yet undergone surgery or chemotherapy were classified according to the TCM syndrome classification, and the feces samples of 109 patients with preoperative colorectal cancer were collected. 16s rRNA gene sequencing was used to determine gut microbiota diversity and abundance in CRC patients with different TCM syndrome, and LEfSe analysis was made to screen different TCM syndrome for differential representative microbiota. Results: 109 patients were divided into 5 syndromes by TCM syndrome classification, which were Liver and Kidney Yin Deficiency Syndrome (LKYDS, n = 19), Spleen Deficient Qi Stagnation Syndrome (SDQSS, n = 30), Stasis and Poison Obstruction Syndrome (SPOS, n = 17), Damp-Heat Syndrome (DHS, n = 30), Qi and Blood Deficiency Syndrome (QBDS, n = 13). Alpha diversity index showed significant differences among the five groups of TCM syndromes, with Shannon index being highest in the SDQSS group and lowest in the LKYDS (p = 0.003). ACE index being highest in the SDQSS group and lowest in the SPOS (p = 0.010). PD whole tree index being highest in the SDQSS group and lowest in the SPOS (p = 0.017). Similarly, beta diversity showed significant differences among the five groups of TCM syndromes, with principal coordinate analysis (PCo1 = 31.86 %, PCo2 = 5.62 %) showing separation and coincidence between the groups, and Adonis group differences showing coincidence between the QBDS-LKYDS (p = 0.702), QBDS-DHS (p = 0.133), and SDQSS-DHS (p = 0.260) groups. LEfSe analysis revealed that the representative microbiota of DHS patients was Dialister sp Marseille P5638 (LDA = 3.05, p<0.001), the representative microbiota of SPOS patients was Oscillospirales (LDA = 4.78, p = 0.029), the representative microbiota of SDQSS patients was Selenomonadaceae (LDA = 3.94, p = 0.003), the representative microbiota of LKYDS patients was Dialister (LDA = 4.19, p = 0.001), and the representative microbiota of QBDS patients was Akkermansia muciniphila (LDA = 4.23, p = 0.006). Conclusions: There are significant differences in gut microbiota between different TCM syndromes in CRC patients. The five microbiota, Dialister sp Marseille P5638, Oscillospirales, Selenomonadaceae, Dialister, and Akkermansia muciniphila, may be differential markers of TCM syndrome in CRC and are expected to be one of the bases for accurate TCM syndrome differentiation of CRC.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) stands as a prevailing neurodegenerative condition (NDs), leading to the gradual deterioration of brain cells and subsequent declines in memory, thinking, behavior, and emotion. Despite the intensive research efforts and advances, an effective curative treatment for the disease has not yet been found. Mushrooms, esteemed globally for their exquisite flavors and abundant nutritional benefits, also hold a wealth of health-promoting compounds that contribute to improving AD health. These compounds encompass polysaccharides, proteins, lipids, terpenoids, phenols, and various other bioactive substances. Particularly noteworthy are the potent neuroprotective small molecules found in mushrooms, such as ergothioneine, erinacine, flavonoids, alkaloids, ergosterol, and melanin, which warrant dedicated scrutiny for their therapeutic potential in combating AD. This review summarizes such positive effects of mushroom bioactive compounds on AD, with a hope to contribute to the development of functional foods as an early dietary intervention for this neurodegenerative disease.

Ulcerative colitis(UC) is a recurrent, intractable inflammatory bowel disease. Coptidis Rhizoma and Bovis Calculus, serving as heat-clearing and toxin-removing drugs, have long been used in the treatment of UC. Berberine(BBR) and ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA), the main active components of Coptidis Rhizoma and Bovis Calculus, respectively, were employed to obtain UDCA-BBR supramolecular nanoparticles by stimulated co-decocting process for enhancing the therapeutic effect on UC. As revealed by the characterization of supramolecular nanoparticles by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) and dynamic light scattering(DLS), the supramolecular nanoparticles were tetrahedral nanoparticles with an average particle size of 180 nm. The molecular structure was described by ultraviolet spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and hydrogen-nuclear magnetic resonance(H-NMR) spectroscopy. The results showed that the formation of the supramolecular nano-particle was attributed to the mutual electrostatic attraction and hydrophobic interaction between BBR and UDCA. Additionally, supramolecular nanoparticles were also characterized by sustained release and pH sensitivity. The acute UC model was induced by dextran sulfate sodium(DSS) in mice. It was found that supramolecular nanoparticles could effectively improve body mass reduction and colon shortening in mice with UC(P<0.001) and decrease disease activity index(DAI)(P<0.01). There were statistically significant differences between the supramolecular nanoparticles group and the mechanical mixture group(P<0.001, P<0.05). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to detect the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin-6(IL-6), and the results showed that supramolecular nanoparticles could reduce serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels(P<0.001) and exhibited an obvious difference with the mechanical mixture group(P<0.01, P<0.05). Flow cytometry indicated that supramolecular nanoparticles could reduce the recruitment of neutrophils in the lamina propria of the colon(P<0.05), which was significantly different from the mechanical mixture group(P<0.05). These findings suggested that as compared with the mechanical mixture, the supramolecular nanoparticles could effectively improve the symptoms of acute UC in mice. The study provides a new research idea for the poor absorption of small molecules and the unsatisfactory therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine and lays a foundation for the research on the nano-drug delivery system of traditional Chinese medicine.

To explore the research hotspots and frontier directions of pyroptosis in the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), the authors searched CNKI and Web of Science for literature related to pyroptosis in TCM, screened literature according to the search strategy and inclusion criteria, and analyzed the publication trend of the included literature. VOSviewer was used to draw author cooperation and keyword co-occurrence network diagrams, and CiteSpace was employed for keyword clustering, emergence, and timeline view. Finally, 507 Chinese literature and 464 English literature were included, and it was found that the number of Chinese and English literature was increasing rapidly year by year. The co-occurrence of the authors showed that in terms of Chinese literature, there was a representative research team composed of DU Guan-hua, WANG Shou-bao and FANG Lian-hua, and for English literature, the representative research team was composed of XIAO Xiao-he, BAI Zhao-fang and XU Guang. The network visualization of Chinese and English keywords revealed that inflammation, apoptosis, oxidative stress, autophagy, organ damage, fibrosis, atherosclerosis, and ischemia-reperfusion injury were the primary research diseases and pathological processes in TCM; berberine, resveratrol, puerarin, na-ringenin, astragaloside Ⅳ, and baicalin were the representative active ingredients; NLRP3/caspase-1/GSDMD, TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3, and p38/MAPK signaling pathways were the main research pathways. Keyword clustering, emergence, and timeline analysis indicated that the pyroptosis research in TCM focused on the mechanism of TCM monomers and compounds intervening in diseases and pathological processes. Pyroptosis is a research hotspot in the area of TCM, and the current discussion mainly focuses on the mechanism of the therapeutic effect of TCM.

RESUMO

Circadian rhythm is an internal regulatory mechanism formed in organisms in response to the circadian periodicity in the environment, which modulates the pathophysiological events, occurrence and development of diseases, and the response to treatment in mammals. It significantly influences the susceptibility, injury, and recovery of ischemic stroke, and the response to therapy. Accumulating evidence indicates that circadian rhythms not only regulate the important physiological factors of ischemic stroke events, such as blood pressure and coagulation-fibrinolysis system, but also participate in the immuno-inflammatory reaction mediated by glial cells and peripheral immune cells after ischemic injury and the regulation of neurovascular unit(NVU). This article aims to link molecular, cellular, and physiological pathways in circadian biology to the clinical consequences of ischemic stroke and to illustrate the impact of circadian rhythms on ischemic stroke pathogenesis, the regulation of NVU, and the immuno-inflammatory responses. The regulation of circadian rhythm by traditional Chinese medicine is reviewed, and the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine intervention in circadian rhythm is summarized to provide a reasonable and valuable reference for the follow-up traditional Chinese medicine research and molecular mechanism research of circadian rhythm.

RESUMO

Radiation-induced brain injury is a serious complication after cranio-cerebral radiotherapy, which affects the patient's quality of life and survival. A large number of studies have shown that various mechanisms such as neuronal apoptosis, blood-brain barrier damage, and synaptic dysfunction may be related to radiation-induced brain injury. Acupuncture has an important role in clinical rehabilitation of various brain injuries. As a new type of acupuncture, electroacupuncture has the characteristics of strong control ability, uniform and long-lasting stimulation, and is widely used in clinic. This article reviews the effects and mechanisms of electroacupuncture on radiation-induced brain injury, in order to provide a theoretical basis and experimental support for reasonable clinical application.

The current study aimed to establish simple and quick quality evaluation method of Chishao based on QAMS. Oxypaeoniflorin is used as a marker in the Chishao root. Based on it, the content of other components could be obtained by establishing the mathematical relationship. UPLC method was used to collect data, and the detection wavelengths were 230nm (benzoic acid, paeoniflorin), 263nm (hydroxy paeoniflorin) 274nm (gallic acid, paeoniflorin, catechin), respectively. The stationary phase was an Agilent ZORBAX SB-C18 and the mobile phase was acetonitrile -0.1% formic acid-water. The gradient elution method was adopted at the certain flow rate (0.3 mL/min). The column temperature set 40oC, and the injection volume was 1µL. Multiple reaction monitoring mode was selected for data collection. The linear ranges of benzoic acid, paeoniflorin, hydroxy-paeoniflorin, gallic acid, catechin and paeoniflorinhad good linearity (r ≥0.9995). The UPLC method was established to determine the content of paeoniflorin, benzoic acid, catechin, gallic acid, paeoniflorin, andhydroxy-paeoniflorin in Radix Paeoniae Rubra. In the current study, the method for the chemical components in Radix Paeoniae Rubra to provide the evaluation basis of medicinal effects.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), as the main energy source for colonic epithelial cells, are becoming one of the important nutritional agents in the treatment of E1 (proctitis) and E2 (left-sided) subtypes of ulcerative colitis. To date, the therapeutic effects of topical SCFAs as primary or adjuvant induction therapy have been studied. However, the specific mechanism of action for SCFAs in the pathogenesis and progression of ulcerative colitis needs further investigation. High-quality prospective studies are required to verify current opinions on the selection of SCFA mixtures and the choice of topical or systemic routes of administration. In addition, SCFA is considered as a promising agent to prevent the occurrence and progression of ulcerative colitis-related colorectal cancer. Therefore, the optimal timing to integrate SCFAs into the treatment of ulcerative colitis represents another future research direction.

Due to the infinite proliferation, strong migration and loss of contact inhibition of tumor cells, tumor has become the most intractable diseases to be cured in the world. At present, the main treatments of tumor diseases are surgical resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted-therapy and immunotherapy. Although these measures can inhibit or kill the tumor to a certain extent, they still cannot avoid adverse reactions and drug resistance. After thousands of years of clinical practice, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has the characteristics of good curative effect, few adverse reactions and significantly improving the quality of life in patients, which provides new ideas for the prevention and treatment of tumors. As an endemic and rare plant in China, Tetrastigma hemsleyanum has been listed in the 2015 edition of Zhejiang Provincial Processing Specification of TCM with the effects of heat-clearing and detoxification, detumescence and analgesia, dissipating phlegm and resolving masses. It has been reported that the chemical constituents of T. hemsleyanum are mainly flavonoids, polysaccharides, phenolic acids, terpenoids, steroids, volatile oils, alkaloids and so on. It can exert a broad spectrum of anti-tumor effects through various ways such as inhibiting proliferation, migration and invasion of tumor cells, inducing apoptosis of tumor cells, inhibiting angiogenesis of tumor cells, reversing multidrug resistance of tumor cells and regulating body autoimmunity. On the basis of reviewing relevant literature at home and abroad, this paper intends to systematically sort out the chemical and anti-tumor research of T. hemsleyanum, and in order to provide a new idea for its synergistic anti-tumor effect of multi-component, multi-pathway and multi-target, and finally provide theoretical basis for the research and development and clinical application of new anti-tumor drugs of T. hemsleyanum.

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells in the hippocampus of young mice with Alzheimer's disease (AD), so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of AD.@*METHODS@#Forty 1.5-month-old APP/PS1 transgenic male mice were randomly divided into an EA group and a model group, 20 mice in each group, and other 20 C57BL/6J male mice of the same age were used as the normal control group. EA (intermittment wave 10 Hz, 2 mA) was applied to "Baihui" (GV 20), "Fengfu" (GV 16) and "Shenshu" (BL 23) for 20 min, once a day, 6 days a week for 16 weeks. H.E. staining was used to assess histopathological changes of neurons of the hippocampal dentate gyrus. Immunohistochemical stain was used to detect the expression of 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU)-positive in the hippocampus, and immunofluorescence double-labeled technique was used to detect the number of proliferated positive neurons of hippocampal neural stem cells. The expression levels of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and Nestin mRNA and protein were detected by using real-time PCR and Western blot, separately.@*RESULTS@#The immunoactivity of BrdU, and the expression levels of BDNF and Nestin mRNA and protein in the hippocampus in the model group were significantly lower than in the normal control group (P<0.01, P<0.05), and considerably higher in the EA group than in the model group (P<0.01, P<0.05). The number of BrdU/NeuN dual labeled neurons was slightly increased in the model group than in the normal control group (P>0.05), and evidently increased in the EA group relevant to the model group (P<0.05), suggesting a proliferation of hippocampal neural stem cells. After modeling, the neurons of hippocampal dentate gyrus were arranged loosely and irregularly and their structure was fuzzy, with an appearance of different degrees of nuclear pyknosis, whereas in the EA group, the neuronal contour was clear and the nuclear structure was relatively distinct.@*CONCLUSION@#EA can activate the proliferation of neural stem cells in the hippocampus in AD mice, which may contribute to its function in improving the neuronal structure by upregulating the expression of BDNF.

RESUMO

This paper reviews the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatments for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the theories of different experts in TCM. The pathogenesis of COVID-19 involves dampness, toxin, heat, cold, blood stasis and deficiency. Dampness and poison were the core pathological factors. The treatment is based on the situation of patients in different regions and different stages of the disease, and focuses on dampness and toxin, with the purpose of eliminating evil and consolidating the foundation. Oral TCM prescriptions such as Qingfei-Paidu Decoction, Qingfei-Touxie-Fuzheng Decoction, Lianhua-Qingwen capsule (granule) show good curative effect. TCM non drug therapies, such as acupuncture, moxibustion, acupoint application, ear acupuncture, traditional exercises, etc., are mostly aimed at light, ordinary and convalescent patients, which can improve symptoms. However, high-quality TCM research is still needed.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of different courses of electroacupuncture on synaptic structure and synaptic function-related proteins expression in the hippocampal CA1 region of radiation-induced brain injury mice. Sixty C57BL/6J male mice were randomly divided into control group, radiation-induced brain injury model group, 1-week electroacupuncture group (EA1), 2-week electroacupuncture group (EA2), 3-week electroacupuncture group (EA3), and electroacupuncture-control (EA-Ctrl) group. The mice in model group were exposed to X-ray irradiation (8 Gy, 10 min) to establish radiation-induced brain injury model. The mice in EA groups were acupunctured at electroacupuncture points (Baihui, Fengfu and bilateral Shenshu) for 1 week, 2 weeks and 3 weeks respectively after radiation. Immunohistochemistry was used to observe synaptic structure in hippocampal CA1 region. The expressions of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), synapsin-1 and postsynaptic density 95 (PSD95) in the hippocampal CA1 region of each group were detected by RT-PCR and Western blotting. The results showed that the nuclear gap in model and EA-Ctrl groups was significantly decreased compared to control group, however nucleus to cytoplasm ratio was significantly increased. The synaptic cleft, postsynaptic density (PSD) thickness, the mitochondrial surface density, volume density and specific surface area were significantly reduced. Compared with model group, the nucleus to cytoplasm ratio of EA2 group was significantly decreased, the PSD thickness and mitochondrial volume density were significantly increased; the nuclear gap of EA3 group was significantly increased, nucleus to cytoplasm ratio was significantly decreased, synaptic cleft and PSD thickness were significantly increased, and the mitochondrial surface density and specific surface area were all increased significantly. In addition, compared with the control group, the gene and protein expressions of BDNF, synapsin-1 and PSD95 in the hippocampal CA1 region of the model group and EA-Ctrl group were significantly decreased. However, compared with the model group, the gene expression of synapsin-1 in EA groups was significantly up-regulated, the gene expression of BDNF in EA1 and EA2 groups was significantly up-regulated, and the gene expression of PSD95 in EA2 group was significantly up-regulated. Moreover, the protein expressions of BDNF, synapsin-1 and PSD95 of EA groups were significantly up-regulated compared with the model group. These results indicate that the synaptic structure and the expression of synaptic function-related proteins in hippocampal CA1 region were injured by radiation exposure, whereas electroacupuncture intervention can significantly improve the synaptic structure and function damage caused by radiation.

Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) and Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuan Xiong) herb-pair (DC) have been frequently used in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescriptions for hundreds of years to prevent vascular diseases and alleviate pain. However, the mechanism of DC herb-pair in the prevention of liver fibrosis development was still unclear. In the present study, the effects and mechanisms of DC herb-pair on liver fibrosis were examined using network pharmacology and mouse fibrotic model. Based on the network pharmacological analysis of 13 bioactive ingredients found in DC, a total of 46 targets and 71 pathways related to anti-fibrosis effects were obtained, which was associated with mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signal pathway, hepatic inflammation and fibrotic response. OBJECTIVE@#To screen protein target in prevention and treatment with electroacupuncture (EA) for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and explore the potential mechanism of EA in prevention of AD.@*METHODS@#A total of 40 APP/PS1 transgenic young male mice, 1.5-month old, were randomized into an EA group and a model group, 20 mice in each one, and 20 C57BL/6J mice were chosen as the normal control group. After adaptive housing for 1 week, the mice in the EA group were stimulated with EA at "Baihui" (GV 20), "Fengfu" (GV 16) and "Shenshu" (BL 23), with intermittent wave, 10 Hz in frequency and 2 mA in electric intensity. EA was given once daily, 20 min each time. There was 1 day at interval after EA for 6 days each week. Totally, the intervention lasted for 16 weeks. On day 3 after the end of EA intervention, Morris water maze test was adopted to detect learning and memory abilities of mice in each group. After water maze test, the label-free method was used to measure the difference expressions in cerebral cortex and hippocampus. Using Western blot method, the expressions of guanylate binding protein beta 5 (GNB 5) and histone-H 3 in cerebral cortex and hippocampus were verified. Using immunohistochemical method, the expressions of amyloid beta protein (Aβ) in cerebral cortex and hippocampus were detected.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the normal control group, the escape latency (on day 2, 3 and 4) was prolonged, the frequency of crossing platform and the duration of platform stay were decreased in the mice of the model group (@*CONCLUSION@#The intervention with EA effectively prevents from the decline of learning and memory ability and the formation of Aβ senile plaques in cerebral cortex and hippocampus in young mouse models of AD after growing up. Besides, EA plays a regulatory function for protein expression differences induced by AD model.

RESUMO

The main mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) intervention on airway mucus hypersecretion in COPD is to affect inflammatory cytokines and inflammatory mediators, inhibit inflammatory response, regulate related signal pathways, and inhibit MUC5AC expression. TCM intervention of COPD airway mucus is characterized by high secretion, multi-channel and multi-target, which has great potential. However, there still exist some problems in the current study, such as most of the research objects are lung tissue samples, less research on lavage fluid samples and sputum samples. It is necessary to observe the efficacy and specific targets of TCM and compound preparations on cytokines, inflammatory mediators, related signal pathways, aquaporins, etc in sputum samples through further scientific research design.

RESUMO

Possible mechanisms by which Polygonati rhizoma opposes atherosclerosis (AS) were identified by network pharmacology and molecular docking analyses. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Database (TCMD) and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database (TCMSP) were utilized to identify the likely active components of Polygonati rhizoma. The potential targets set of Polygonati rhizoma were predicted with the PharmaDB database and the Swiss TargetPrediction database. The targets set for AS was retrieved by OMIM, DisGeNET and NCBI Gene database. We used the STRING platform to construct a protein-protein interaction network of the intersectional targets and performed visual analysis in Cytoscape. The key targets of Polygonati rhizoma in AS were searched by network topology and the resulting GO and KEGG enrichment was analyzed by Clue GO. In addition, the key targets were verified by molecular docking in Discovery Studio 4.0. A total of 45 active ingredients and 51 potential targets were obtained in the treatment of AS. The results of the topology analysis included five key targets: serum albumin, mitogen-activated protein kinase 3, mitogen-activated protein kinase 1, proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src and matrix metalloproteinase-9. The 131 GO items showed that the biological process mainly involved the steroid receptor, cell response to steroid stimulation, the phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase signal pathway, and others. The KEGG pathway analysis included 37 pathways, which were closely related to peroxisome proliferation activated receptor signaling pathway, platelet activation pathway, vascular endothelial growth factor pathway, hypoxia inducible factor pathway and adhesion connection pathway. The results of molecular docking proved that the combined activity of the components with potential key targets is excellent. This study proposes mechanisms by which Polygonati rhizoma might act to reverse or minimize AS and provides a scientific basis for clinical research on Polygonati rhizoma.

This study is a randomized controlled trial of Reyanning Mixture in the treatment of acute tonsillitis. According to the ratio of 1∶1∶1, a total of 144 patients were randomly divided into Reyanning Mixture group(RYN), Reyanning Mixture+Amoxicillin Capsules group(RYN+Amoxil) and Amoxicillin Capsules group(Amoxil), with 48 cases in each group, in order to evaluate the efficacy and safety of RYN alone or combined with Amoxil in the treatment of acute tonsillitis, and provided high-quality evidences for treatment of infectious diseases with traditional Chinese medicine and reduced use of antibiotics. The dosage of RYN was 20 mL, 3 times a day, 100 mL/bottle, oral for 7 days, and Amoxil dosage was 0.5 g, 3 times a day, 0.5 g×12 tablets/plate, oral for 7 days. A total of 144 cases were included, 3 cases were excluded(1 case was mistakenly included, 2 cases did not take drugs after inclu-ded), and a total of 141 cases were included in the full analysis set(FAS). The results showed statistical differences in the recovery time of the disease, the disappearance rate of fever on the 3 rd day and the disappearance rate of tonsillar redness and swelling between RYN and Amoxil. There were statistical differences in the cure rate of disease, recovery time of disease, body temperature recovery time, fever disappearance rate on the 3 rd day, pharynx swelling and pain disappearance rate and tonsil swelling disappearance rate between the RYN+Amoxil and Amoxil, but with no significant difference in the above aspects compared with RYN. The DDD of antibiotic use in RYN+Amoxil was significantly lower than that in Amoxil(P<0.01). According to the findings, when RYN was used alone in the treatment of acute tonsillitis, it was superior to Amoxil in time of recovery, short-term improvement of fever and redness and swelling of tonsil. Compared with RYN+Amoxil, there was no difference in cure rate of disease, recovery time of disease, body temperature recovery time, short-term improvement of fever, swelling of pharynx and swelling of tonsil, with a better efficacy than Amoxil. The clinical effect of RYN was similar to that of combined Amoxil in the treatment of acute tonsillitis, and RYN was superior to Amoxil in the time of recovery, short-term improvement of fever and redness and swelling of tonsil, with no adverse event or adverse reaction. RYN+Amoxil can significantly reduce the DDD value of antibiotics in the treatment of acute tonsillitis, with significant clinical advantages over Amoxil.

“Incompatibility” is the focus of the “Eighteen Incompatible Medicaments” in Chinese materia medica. At present, most experts in traditional Chinese medicine supported that “incompatibility” is relative, that is, the conversion between incompatibility and appropriate compatibility can occur under certain conditions. Genkwa Flos and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma are one of the representative of incompatible pairs in “Eighteen Incompatible Medicaments”, which had been well studied. This paper summarized the research progress of the incompatible pairs of Genkwa Flos and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma from seven aspects of material basis, pharmacological toxicology, drug metabolism and metabolomics, incompatibility mechanism, gut microbiota, clinical application and compatibility conditions. Combined with the author’s previous systematic study on the chemical components of Daphne genkwa, the connotation of the material base of Genkwa Flos and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma was discussed from the perspective of the weak bond between the active components in this paper, so as to provide reference for further research of the incompatible pair.

Objective: To explore the sedative effect of electro-acupuncture on healthy people and its possible mechanism by using EEG power spectral density. Methods: Totally 12 healthy subjects were stimulated by electro-acupuncture at bilateral Zusanli (ST36), Shenmen (HT7) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) acupoints. The multichannel EEG signals induced by electro-acupuncture in electroacupuncture-free state (resting state) and electro-acupuncture state were recorded for 30 minutes respectively. The sedation level of the subjects was monitored by bispectral index monitor (BIS). The power spectrum density (PSD) was employed to analyze the power changes of EEG during electro-acupuncture. Results: Compared with that of the resting state, the BIS value of electro-acupuncture state decreased significantly (P<0.05), the δ band power of EEG signal increased significantly (P<0.05), the α band power of EEG signal decreased significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion: Electro-acupuncture alone can produce sedative effect. The change of EEG activity and the increase of slow wave activity may be related to the sedative effect.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine injections( CMI) in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease( AECOPD). PubMed,Cochrane Library,CNKI,CBM,Wan Fang and VIP database( since the date of database establishment to July 2018) were retrieved through computer for controlled randomized trials( CRTs) of 3 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine injections( Chuankezhi Injection,Tanreqing Injection,Xuebijing Injection) for AECOPD. After the methodological quality of included researches were evaluated,and the valid data were extracted,statistical analysis was performed with Stata 14,RevMan 5.3 is used for risk bias map. There were including 4 RCTs and 20 quasi-RCTs,which involving 579 patients.The results of network Meta-analysis showed that: ①there were significant differences in the forced expiratory volume in the first second between the 3 CMI and control groups,and there was no significant difference between CMI; ②3 kinds of CMI adjuvant therapy AECOPD,According to the forced expiratory volume in the first second of the probability ranking results,Tanreqing Injection is more effective,followed by Xuebijing Injection and Chuankezhi Injection. Based on the present evidence,3 kinds of CMI can improve the forced expiratory volume in the first second on the basis of Western medicine routine treatment of AECOPD,having better safty. In addition,the conclusion of this study still needs a large number of RCTs with reasonable design and proper method to confirm it.
