RESUMO
A variety of available treatment options are available for primary focal hyperhidrosis, and some can be combined to obtain maximum effective results. Most treatment options have only been studied in patients with axillary hyperhidrosis, and more studies are needed to develop therapies for other body regions. Several clinical trials are underway with promising preliminary results; however, there is still a large need for new therapies.

Cosmeceuticals represent a new category of products placed between cosmetics and pharmaceuticals that are intended for the enhancement of both the health and beauty of skin. Encompassing an ever-increasing part of the skin care industry, cosmeceuticals are formulated from a multitude of ingredients, the main categories of which are discussed in this article. Given the growing interest in these products among patients and the strong claims made by manufacturers, it is important that physicians recognize these agents and understand their benefits, limitations, and potential adverse effects.

Topical therapies can be used as a solo treatment or as an adjunct to the various surgical options to improve upon and maintain the desired anti-aging results. They may also be used as a preventative therapy in younger men and women. Few drugs are currently marketed for the treatment and prevention of skin aging, whereas many cosmeceuticals,the fastest growing segment of the skin-care market, and herbal remedies are touted in the lay press. More than ever, patients are looking for a magical elixir that is easy to use,effective, and inexpensive. The more commonly used products are covered in this article.
