Integrating Spirituality into MFT Training: A Reflexive Curriculum and Qualitative Evaluation.

When clients enter the therapy room they bring unique spiritual beliefs and values in with them; however, marital and family therapists (MFTs) often lack training to assist in this important area of diversity. Current training recommendations encourage therapists to explore their own spirituality to identify personal limitations that may occlude positive client outcomes; however very little information exists on the implementation and usefulness of this type of training. This article will describe a curriculum and report results from a qualitative study of students who participated in a reflexive spirituality practicum course offered in a COAMFTE accredited doctoral program at a private, religious institution. Through this, we hope to provide a training model to further spiritual integration activities in MFT.

Tutor inteligente móvil para el aprendizaje de plantas medicinales y sus beneficios / Intelligent mobile tutor for learning medicinal plants and their benefits

Hoy en día los dispositivos móviles se han convertido en uno de los usos más importantes para el ser humano en su diario vivir, para diferentes fines como los juegos, recabar información, enviar, recibir fotos, navegación por internet, educación en distintas áreas, entre otras. La presente tesis "Tutor Inteligente Móvil para el aprendizaje de plantas medicinales y sus beneficios", dictada para los estudiantes del área de Farmacología, para un mejor rendimiento en su aprendizaje ­ enseñanza, el cual les brinda información accesible acerca del tema y de forma interactiva, brindando así una herramienta novedosa, portátil y accesible en cualquier momento a los estudiantes para poder reforzar su aprendizaje en clases. Para la presente tesis se utiliza la combinación de las metodologías ISE (Ingeniería de Software Educativo) propuesta por Galvis, y la metodología Mobile-D, que es una metodología para el desarrollo de aplicaciones móviles con sistema operativo Android. Para el desarrollo del prototipo, se cuenta con el modulo estudiante, modulo dominio, modulo evaluación y modulo tutor. En los resultados obtenidos una vez implementado el prototipo tutor inteligente móvil en el ambiente social, con pruebas realizadas en estudiantes del área de Farmacología, se concluyó que el prototipo tutor inteligente móvil contribuye en el mejoramiento del aprendizaje. Comparative immunological effect of anticoagulant and antioxidant therapy in the prevention of abortion in mice.

PROBLEM: Considering the potential adverse effects of anticoagulation in abortion treatment, we investigate whether antioxidants might exert the same immunoprotection. Although the fertility properties of Vitamin E have been associated with its antioxidant capacity, its effect on cytokine balance during pregnancy is still unknown. METHOD OF STUDY: Pregnant females from CBA/J × DBA/2 abortion model were orally supplemented with Vitamin E or inoculated intraperitoneally with enoxaparin. Foeto-placental units were scored at 14.5 days of pregnancy, and abortion rate was calculated. Cytokine placental levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: Vitamin E (15 mg/day) has been able to decrease abortion rate and to increase IL-6 placental levels, while both treatments increased vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) placental levels. CONCLUSION: Vitamin E and enoxaparin are able not only to prevent foetal wastage but also to balance IL-6 and VEGF placental levels, presenting a new potential therapeutic alternative for patients with recurrent abortion not associated with thrombophilias.
