RESUMO

Complex correlated states emerging from many-body interactions between quasiparticles (electrons, excitons and phonons) are at the core of condensed matter physics and material science. In low-dimensional materials, quantum confinement affects the electronic, and subsequently, optical properties for these correlated states. Here, by combining photoluminescence, optical reflection measurements and ab initio theoretical calculations, we demonstrate an unconventional excitonic state and its bound phonon sideband in layered silicon diphosphide (SiP2), where the bound electron-hole pair is composed of electrons confined within one-dimensional phosphorus-phosphorus chains and holes extended in two-dimensional SiP2 layers. The excitonic state and emergent phonon sideband show linear dichroism and large energy redshifts with increasing temperature. Our ab initio many-body calculations confirm that the observed phonon sideband results from the correlated interaction between excitons and optical phonons. With these results, we propose layered SiP2 as a platform for the study of excitonic physics and many-particle effects.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patients with refractory central nervous system leukemia (CNSL) have a dismal prognosis and lack effective therapy. Case reports have shown that sorafenib is effective against brain metastases, including leukemia. METHODS: To explore the efficacy of sorafenib combined with conventional therapies for refractory CNSL, a phase 2 study was conducted. The primary end point was the complete remission rate (CRR) within 8 weeks of treatment. Secondary end points included the overall response rate (ORR), event-free survival (EFS), overall survival (OS), and adverse events (AEs). RESULTS: Twenty-six patients with refractory CNSL were enrolled; they included 17 with isolated CNSL, 7 with hematological relapse, and 2 with another extramedullary relapse. After 8 weeks of treatment, 21 patients achieved complete remission, 2 achieved partial remission, and 3 achieved no remission for a CRR of 80.8% (95% CI, 62.1%-91.5%) and an ORR of 88.5% (95% CI, 71.0%-96.0%). Twenty patients survived, and 6 died. The 2-year EFS and OS rates were 75.0% (95% CI, 54.5%-88.3%) and 76.9% (95% CI, 54.2%-90.4%), respectively. Six patients experienced grade 3 or 4 treatment-related AEs, including moderate chronic graft-vs-host disease (n = 3), grade 3 or 4 acute graft-vs-host disease (n = 2), and grade 3 skin rash (n = 1). No treatment-related deaths occurred during the therapy of refractory CNSL. CONCLUSIONS: Sorafenib combined with conventional therapies is effective and safe for refractory CNSL. LAY SUMMARY: Sorafenib combined with conventional therapies is effective and safe for refractory central nervous system leukemia.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Systematically assessing the safety and effectiveness of spraying rhubarb powder solution under gastroscope for the treatment of acute non-varicose upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and confirmation for further clinical research and application. METHODS: We searched the following databases up till November 2019: PubMed, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, CNKI, WanFang Data, VIP and SinoMed. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were used to compare the curative effect of spraying rhubarb powder solution with other drugs under gastroscope for the treatment of acute non-varicose upper gastrointestinal bleeding. RESULTS: Out of 171 articles, 14 RCTs involving 1493 patients were included. All control groups included in the RCTs were treated with norepinephrine solution. The hemostatic effect of spraying rhubarb powder solution under gastroscope was examined for 24 h at high concentration (0.1 g/mL). The hemostatic effect at higher conc. (0.1 g/mL) found far more better than low conc.(RR = 1.48;95 %CI:1.25,1.75;P﹤0.00001) (0.03 g/mL)as homeostatic effect at low conc.is same that of norepinephrine solution (RR = 1.02;95 %CI:0.94,1.10;P = 0.62). Moreover within 48 h, rhubarb powder solution with 0.1 g/mL or 0.15 g/mL conc. have of significantly higher hemostatic effects than norepinephrine solution (RR = 1.18;95 % CI: 1.08, 1.30;P = 0.0003). Occurrence of rebleeding event within 48 h after successful hemostasis (RR = 0.42;95 %CI:0.24,0.74;P = 0.003) reduced exceptionally. After that the hemostatic effect of rhubarb powder solution with 0.1 g/mL conc.examined within 72 h again exhibited significant improvement than norepinephrine solution (RR = 1.19;95 %CI:1.12,1.26;P < 0.00001). On par with immediate hemostasis time, rhubarb powder solution took unprecedented less time than norepinephrine solution;(MD=-5.56S;95 %CI:-6.16, -4.95;P﹤0.00001). Additionally, the adverse reaction produced by rhubarb powder solution is much lower than norepinephrine solution (RR = 0.22;95 %CI:0.11,0.42;P < 0.00001). CONCLUSIONS: According to meta-analysis, Spraying rhubarb powder solution under gastroscope in the treatment of acute non-varicose upper gastrointestinal bleeding is superior to norepinephrine solution in improving hemostasis effect. Shortening immediate hemostasis time and reducing rebleeding, and is safe to use. Based on the results of this study, physicians can treat patients with acute non-varicose upper gastrointestinal bleeding by spraying rhubarb powder solution under gastroscope according to the patients' condition. However, the sample size included in this study is small and of substandard quality qu, and a large sample size clinical trial with strict design and normative report is needed to verify the safety and efficacy of rhubarb powder solution under gastroscope for acute non-varicose upper gastrointestinal bleeding.

RESUMO

An innovative fabrication method to produce a macroporous Si surface by employing an anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) nanopore array layer as an etching template is presented. Combining AAO with a reactive ion etching (RIE) processes, a homogeneous and macroporous silicon surface can be effectively configured by modulating AAO process parameters and alumina film thickness, thus hopefully replacing conventional photolithography and electrochemical etch methods. The hybrid process integration is considered fully CMOS compatible thanks to the low-temperature AAO and CMOS processes. The gas-sensing characteristics of 50 nm TiO(2) nanofilms deposited on the macroporous surface are compared with those of conventional plain (or non-porous) nanofilms to verify reduced response noise and improved sensitivity as a result of their macroporosity. Our experimental results reveal that macroporous geometry of the TiO(2) chemoresistive gas sensor demonstrates 2-fold higher (∼33%) improved sensitivity than a non-porous sensor at different levels of oxygen exposure. In addition, the macroporous device exhibits excellent discrimination capability and significantly lessened response noise at 500 °C. Experimental results indicate that the hybrid process of such miniature and macroporous devices are compatible as well as applicable to integrated next generation bio-chemical sensors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the feasibility and curative effects of transoral CO2 laser in treatment of hypopharyngeal carcinoma. METHODS: The retrospective analysis included 24 cases of hypopharyngeal carcinoma from 1994 to 2005 in the Department of Head and Neck. All cases were treated with endoscopic laser surgery and adjuvant selective neck dissection or radiotherapy. The follow-up period was more than 3 years. Twenty-four patients (21 male, 3 female) were classified as follows: 14 cases were T1N0M0, 4 were T1N1M0, 1 was T1N2bM0, 3 were T2N0M0 and 2 were T2N2bM0. RESULTS: Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed the overall 5-year survival rate was 74.9%, and the 5-year survival rate of T1 lesions and T2 lesions was 78.8% and 60.1%, respectively. The overall 5-year local control rate was 82.1% and 5-year larynx preservation rate was 87.0%. Six of 7 patients with local-regional recurrences underwent salvage surgery and radiotherapy. Finally 4 of them died of recurrence again and 2 were survival. The other one of 7 patients had distant metastasis, and died after radiochemotherapy. One patient died of non-neoplastic diseases. Two patients experienced minor complications with conventional ambulatory treatment without sequelae. All survival patients had laryngeal preservation except the one who received salvage surgery of the hypopharynx and larynx. CONCLUSIONS: Endoscopic CO2 laser surgery with adjuvant selective or modified radical neck dissection and radiotherapy is an alternative for the treatment of selected hypopharyngeal carcinoma, associated with satisfying curative effects and a high larynx preservation rate.
