[The improvement of complex treatment of odontogenous periostitis in elderly patients].

The paper presents the results of clinical examination of 114 patients aged 60-88 years with acute odontogenous periostitis receiving treatment in in-patient maxillofacial surgery unit. The dynamic of clinical symptoms is used to carry out the comparative effectiveness study of several peroral antibiotics in elderly patients.

[Methodic approaches to treatment of the chronic generalized parodontitis in elderly and senile patients].

A comprehensive treatment with Likopid of chronic generalized parodontitis in 114 elderly and senile patients was carried out. The state of mechanisms of innate immunity (phagocytosis mechanisms) as well as the profile of proinflammatory cytokines was assessed. The effect of antibiotic-resistant strains of prior microflora on the combined therapy of patients of different age with chronic generalized parodontitis was studied. It is established that due to presence of various types of opportunistic pathogens in patients of different age with parodontitis using the prophylactic antibiotics for the empirical (to determine the antibiotic resistance), a combination of Metronidazole and Lincomycin with the mandatory appointment of immunomodulatory drugs for activation of monocyte-phagocytic system of the patient elderly is most advisable. Use of the drug , "Likopid" significantly improves the results of treatment the elderly and old patients with chronic generalized parodonthitis.

[Treatment of patients of elderly and sinile age with fractures of the mandibula].

In the above study, the comparison of efficiency of complex treatment of elderly and senile patients with fractures of mandibula has been carried out. After osteosynthesis of mandibula with mini-plates, frequency of development of traumatic osteomyelitis in these patients was lower than that after osteosynthesis by means of bone suture, especially in the group of patients who were admitted with signs of inflammation of osteal wound, where traumatic osteomyelitis developed 3 times less often than after osteosynthesis with bone suture. At bilateral fractures of mandibula, osteosynthesis with bone suture is not prescribed to the elderly patients who are admitted with signs of inflammation of osteal wound. Application of mini-plates for osteosynthesis at fractures of mandibula in the elderly patients enabled to restore mandibula motion and chewing function within much earlier terms.

[The experience of a clinical trial of bioceramic-based materials in dentistry]. / Opyt klinicheskoi aprobatsii materialov na osnove biokeramiki v stomatologii.

Bioceramics-based materials manufactured in Russia were experimentally and clinically tried with the aim of optimizing repair osteogenesis of the jaws. Powder, granules, and porous blocks of hydroxyapatite alone and mixed with tricalcium phosphate may be effectively used for plastic repair of osseous pouches and post-operative defects of the jaws in surgical treatment of periodontitis, periradicular cysts of the jaws, and for filling the wells after removal of teeth.

[A preclinical study of the effect of the animal polysaccharide chonsurid on reparative osteogenesis of the jaws]. / Doklinicheskoe izuchenie vliianiia zivotnogo polisakharida khonsurida na reparativnyi osteogenez cheliustei.

Experimental studies making use of morphological and x-ray methods demonstrated that in comparison with control (filling of mandibular bone defects with blood clots) chonsuride, an animal polysaccharide, promoted earlier filling of postoperative bone cavities with connective tissue replacement of this tissue with coarse-fiber bone tissue. Secondary restructuring and mineralization of bone regenerate were enhanced as well.

Immediate and late (up to 4 years) results of acupuncture are described in 42 patients with oral mucosa paresthesias. The data suggest that this is an efficient technique.
