Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease, and accumulating evidence suggested that proteostatic imbalance is a key feature of the disease. Traditional Chinese medicine exhibits a multi-target therapeutic effect, making it highly suitable for addressing protein homeostasis imbalance in AD. Dendrobium officinale is a traditional Chinese herbs commonly used as tonic agent in China. In this study, we investigated protection effects of D. officinale phenolic extract (SH-F) and examined its underlying mechanisms by using transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans models. We found that treatment with SH-F (50 µg/mL) alleviated Aß and tau protein toxicity in worms, and also reduced aggregation of polyglutamine proteins to help maintain proteostasis. RNA sequencing results showed that SH-F treatment significantly affected the proteolytic process and autophagy-lysosomal pathway. Furthermore, we confirmed that SH-F showing maintainance of proteostasis was dependent on bec-1 by qRT-PCR analysis and RNAi methods. Finally, we identified active components of SH-F by LC-MS method, and found the five major compounds including koaburaside, tyramine dihydroferulate, N-p-trans-coumaroyltyramine, naringenin and isolariciresinol are the main bioactive components responsible for the anti-AD activity of SH-F. Our findings provide new insights to develop a treatment strategy for AD by targeting proteostasis, and SH-F could be an alternative drug for the treatment of AD.

To efficiently remove nutrients from low C/N sanitary sewage by conventional biological process is challenging due to the lack of sufficient electron donors. A novel electrolysis-integrated sequencing batch biofilm reactor (E-SBBR) was established to promote nitrogen and phosphorus removal for sanitary sewage with low C/N ratios (3.5-1.5). Highly efficient removal of nitrogen (>79%) and phosphorus (>97%) was achieved in the E-SBBR operating under alternating anoxic/electrolysis-anoxic/aerobic conditions. The coexistence of autotrophic nitrifiers, electron transfer-related bacteria, and heterotrophic and autohydrogenotrophic denitrifiers indicated synergistic nitrogen removal via multiple nitrogen-removing pathways. Electrolysis application induced microbial anoxic ammonia oxidation, autohydrogenotrophic denitrification and electrocoagulation processes. Deinococcus enriched on the electrodes were likely to mediate the electricity-driven ammonia oxidation which promoted ammonia removal. PICRUSt2 indicated that the relative abundances of key genes (hyaA and hyaB) associated with hydrogen oxidation significantly increased with the decreasing C/N ratios. The high autohydrogenotrophic denitrification rates during the electrolysis-anoxic period could compensate for the decreased heterotrophic rates resulting from insufficient carbon sources and nitrate removal was dramatically enhanced. Electrocoagulation with iron anode was responsible for phosphorus removal. This study provides insights into mechanisms by which electrochemically assisted biological systems enhance nutrient removal for low C/N sanitary sewage.

Numerous randomised controlled trials have suggested the positive effects of acupuncture on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the underlying therapeutic mechanisms of acupuncture for COPD have not been clearly summarized yet. Inflammation is central to the development of COPD. In this review, we elucidate the effects and underlying mechanisms of acupuncture from an anti-inflammatory perspective based on animal studies. Cigarette smoke combined with lipopolysaccharide is often used to establish animal models of COPD. Electroacupuncture can be an effective intervention to improve inflammation in COPD, and Feishu (BL13) and Zusanli (ST36) can be used as basic acupoints in COPD animal models. Different acupuncture types can regulate different types of inflammatory cytokines; meanwhile, different acupuncture types and acupoint options have similar effects on modulating the level of inflammatory cytokines. In particular, acupuncture exerts anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the release of inflammatory cells, inflammasomes and inflammatory cytokines. The main underlying mechanism through which acupuncture improves inflammation in COPD is the modulation of relevant signalling pathways: nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) (e.g., myeloid differentiation primary response 88/NF-κB, toll-like receptor-4/NF-κB, silent information regulator transcript-1/NF-κB), mitogen-activated protein kinase signalling pathways (extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2, p38 and c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase), cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, and dopamine D2 receptor pathway. Epidemiological evidence regarding the effect of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) supplementation on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is conflicting. Additionally, little evidence exists regarding the effects of specific omega-3 components on IBD risk. We applied two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) to disentangle the effects of omega-3 PUFAs (including total omega-3, α-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), or docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)) on the risk of IBD, Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Our findings indicated that genetically predicted increased EPA concentrations were associated with decreased risk of IBD (odds ratio 0.78 (95% CI 0.63-0.98)). This effect was found to be mediated through lower levels of linoleic acid and histidine metabolites. However, we found limited evidence to support the effects of total omega-3, α-linolenic acid, and DHA on the risks of IBD. In the fatty acid desaturase 2 (FADS2) region, robust colocalization evidence was observed, suggesting the primary role of the FADS2 gene in mediating the effects of omega-3 PUFAs on IBD. Therefore, the present MR study highlights EPA as the predominant active component of omega-3 fatty acids in relation to decreased risk of IBD, potentially via its interaction with linoleic acid and histidine metabolites. Additionally, the FADS2 gene likely mediates the effects of omega-3 PUFAs on IBD risk.

BACKGROUND: Liensinine and neferine are the main bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids obtained from the seeds of Nelumbo nucifera, which commonly used as edible food and traditional medicine in Asia. It was reported that liensinine and neferine could inhibit the activities of acetylcholinesterase and cross the blood-brain barriers, suggesting their therapeutic potential for the management of Alzheimer's disease. METHODS: Here, we employed SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells stably transfected with the human Swedish amyloid precursor protein (APP) mutation APP695 (APP695swe SH-SY5Y) as an in vitro model and transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans as an in vivo model to investigate the neuroprotective effects and underlying mechanism of liensinine and neferine. RESULTS: We found that liensinine and neferine could significantly improve the viability and reduce ROS levels in APP695swe SH-SY5Y cells, inhibit ß-amyloid and tau-induced toxicity, and enhance stress resistance in nematodes. Moreover, liensinine and neferine had obviously neuroprotective effects by assaying chemotaxis, 5-hydroxytryptamine sensitivity and the integrity of injured neurons in nematodes. Preliminary mechanism studies revealed that liensinine and neferine could upregulate the expression of autophagy related genes (lgg-1, unc-51, pha-4, atg-9 and ced-9) and reduce the accumulation of ß-amyloid induced autophagosomes, which suggested autophagy pathway played a key role in neuroprotective effects of these two alkaloids. CONCLUSIONS: Altogether, our findings provided a certain working foundation for the use of liensinine and neferine to treat Alzheimer's disease based on neuroprotective effects.

BACKGROUND: Mental health problems have become prominent among college students. The purpose of this study was to to explore the influence of yoga course on female college students' mental health. METHODS: Three hundred fifty-four female college students enrolled in Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2020 or 2021 were selected and divided into three groups according to whether they took PE courses and the content of PE courses: No physical education group (control group) (N.=131), aerobics group (N.=120), and yoga group (N.=103), questionnaire survey was conducted before, at the middle (8 weeks), and at the end of the course. The patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and Connor- Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC) were used to evaluate the mental health status of female college students at different time points. RESULTS: The demographic characteristics of the three groups showed no significant differences. Repeated measures Analysis of Variance showed that there were time main effect, group and time interaction effect and group main effect in patients' health questionnaire (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and Connor- Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC) among the three groups before and after practice. Patient health score: The score of PHQ-9 and GAD-7 in yoga group at 16 weeks, at 8 weeks, before practice (P<0.05), and the scores of yoga group at 8 weeks and 16 weeks were lower than those of control group and aerobics group (P< 0.05). For CD-RISC: the score of yoga group at16 weeks, 8 weeks, before practice (P<0.05), and the scores at 8 and 16 weeks were higher than those of aerobics group and control group (P<0.05); There was no significant difference before and after exercise between the control group and the aerobics group (P< 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The teaching of yoga course can enhance the level of psychological resilience, improve depression and anxiety, promote mental health, and improve subjective well-being and improve the quality of college life.

The Tuojiang River and Fujiang River, two important tributaries of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, have serious water pollution problems, among which nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are the most important pollutants. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the influencing factors of water quality in different spaces and provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of surface water pollution in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and its tributaries. Water samples of trunk and tributaries in the Tuojiang River and Fujiang River were collected, and the spatial distribution characteristics of water N and P were analyzed. The results showed that the Tuojiang River and Fujiang River showed serious pollution of total nitrogen (TN), with a water quality worse Ⅴ-section proportion as high as 94% and 50%, respectively. Both rivers showed that TN and TP concentrations in the tributaries were higher than those in the main stream. For both rivers, total phosphorus (TP), with moderate pollution, was mainly concentrated in Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ class water quality, whereas the P pollution was more serious for the Fujiang River compared to that of the Fujiang River. For the Tuojiang River, nitrate nitrogen (NN) concentration from upstream to downstream showed a trend of decreasing after the first increase, with the maximum concentration of ammonium nitrogen (AN) exhibiting at the upstream site. In particular, TP concentration increased significantly after rivers flowed through a city. For the Fujiang River trunk stream, TN and NN concentration exhibited a gradually increasing trend from the middle to lower reaches. Generally, our study revealed that TN, TP, and NN in the rivers were affected by water pH and water temperature (T). Therefore, the control of N and P pollution in rivers should pay attention to the influence of water environmental factors.

BACKGROUND: Observational studies and conventional Mendelian randomization (MR) studies showed inconclusive evidence to support the association between omega-3 fatty acids and type 2 diabetes. We aim to evaluate the causal effect of omega-3 fatty acids on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and the distinct intermediate phenotypes linking the two. METHODS: Two-sample MR was performed using genetic instruments derived from a recent genome-wide association study (GWAS) of omega-3 fatty acids (N = 114,999) from UK Biobank and outcome data obtained from a large-scale T2DM GWAS (62,892 cases and 596,424 controls) in European ancestry. MR-Clust was applied to determine clustered genetic instruments of omega-3 fatty acids that influences T2DM. Two-step MR analysis was used to identify potential intermediate phenotypes (e.g. glycemic traits) that linking omega-3 fatty acids with T2DM. RESULTS: Univariate MR showed heterogenous effect of omega-3 fatty acids on T2DM. At least two pleiotropic effects between omega-3 fatty acids and T2DM were identified using MR-Clust. For cluster 1 with seven instruments, increasing omega-3 fatty acids reduced T2DM risk (OR: 0.52, 95%CI 0.45-0.59), and decreased HOMA-IR (ß = - 0.13, SE = 0.05, P = 0.02). On the contrary, MR analysis using 10 instruments in cluster 2 showed that increasing omega-3 fatty acids increased T2DM risk (OR:1.10; 95%CI 1.06-1.15), and decreased HOMA-B (ß = - 0.04, SE = 0.01, P = 4.52 × 10-5). Two-step MR indicated that increasing omega-3 fatty acid levels decreased T2DM risk via decreasing HOMA-IR in cluster 1, while increased T2DM risk via decreasing HOMA-B in cluster 2. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides evidence to support two distinct pleiotropic effects of omega-3 fatty acids on T2DM risk influenced by different gene clusters, which could be partially explained by distinct effects of omega-3 fatty acids on insulin resistance and beta cell dysfunction. The pleiotropic feature of omega-3 fatty acids variants and its complex relationships with T2DM need to be carefully considered in future genetic and clinical studies.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Qishen Yiqi Pills (QSYQ) is a classical herbal formula for treating heart failure (HF) and has potential efficacy in improving cognitive function. The latter is one of the most common complications in patients with HF. However, there is no study on treating HF-related cognitive dysfunction by QSYQ. AIMS OF THE STUDY: The study aims to investigate the effect and mechanism of QSYQ on treating post-HF cognitive dysfunction based on network pharmacology and experimental validation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Network pharmacology analysis and molecular docking was used to explore endogenous targets of QSYQ in treating cognitive impairment. Ligation of the anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery and sleep deprivation (SD) were used to induce HF-related cognitive dysfunction in rats. The efficacy and potential signal targets of QSYQ were then verified by functional evaluation, pathological staining, and molecular biology experiments. RESULTS: 384 common targets were identified by intersecting QSYQ 'compound targets' and 'cognitive dysfunction' disease targets. KEGG analysis showed these targets were enriched to the cAMP signal, and four marks responsible for regulating the cAMP signal were successfully docked with core compounds of QSYQ. Animal experiments demonstrated that QSYQ significantly ameliorated cardiac function and cognitive function in rats suffering from HF and SD, inhibited the reduction of cAMP and BDNF content, reversed the upregulation of PDE4 and downregulation of CREB, suppressed the loss of neurons, and restored the expression of synaptic protein PSD95 in the hippocampus. CONCLUSION: This study clarified that QSYQ could improve HF-related cognitive dysfunction by modulating cAMP-CREB-BDNF signals. It provides a rich basis for the potential mechanism of QSYQ in the treatment of heart failure with cognitive dysfunction.

The discovery of natural product-based pesticides is critical for agriculture. In this work, a series of novel tricyclic diterpenoid derivatives decorated with an amino alcohol moiety were elaborately prepared from natural abietic acid, and their antibacterial behavior was explored. Bioassay results indicated that compound C2 exhibited the most promising bioactivity (EC50 = 0.555 µg mL-1) against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), about 73 times higher than the effect of commercial thiodiazole copper (TC). Results of in vivo bioassays showed that compound C2 displayed significantly higher control of rice bacterial leaf blight (curative activity: 63.8%; protective activity: 58.4%) than TC (curative activity: 43.6%; protective activity: 40.8%), and their bioactivity could be improved maximally 16% by supplementing the auxiliaries. Antibacterial behavior suggested that compound C2 could suppress various virulence factors. Overall, these findings suggested that new botanical bactericide candidates could control intractable plant bacterial diseases by suppressing virulence factors.

In recent years, combining different types of therapy has emerged as an advanced strategy for cancer treatment. In these combination therapies, oral delivery of anticancer drugs is more convenient and compliant. This study developed an irinotecan/rapamycin-loaded oral lecithin-based self-nanoemulsifying nanoemulsion preconcentrate (LBSNENPir/ra) and evaluated its synergistic combination effects on pancreatic cancer. LBSNENP loaded with irinotecan and rapamycin at a ratio of 1:1 (LBSNENPir10/ra10) had a better drug release profile and smaller particle size (<200 nm) than the drug powder. Moreover, LBSNENPir10/ra10 exhibited a strong synergistic effect (combination index [CI] < 1.0) in cell viability and combination effect studies. In the tumor inhibition study, the antitumor activity of LBSNENPir10/ra10/sily20 against MIA PaCa-2 (a human pancreatic cancer cell line) was significantly increased compared with the other groups. When administered with rapamycin and silymarin, the area under the curve and the maximum concentration of irinotecan significantly improved compared with the control. We successfully developed an irinotecan/rapamycin-loaded oral self-nanoemulsifying nanoemulsion system to achieve treatment efficacy for pancreatic cancer.

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is characterized by a high mortality rate, rapid growth, and early metastasis, which lead to a poor prognosis. Moreover, limited clinical treatment options further lower the survival rate of patients. Therefore, novel technology and agents are urgently required to enhance clinical efficacy. In this review, from a holistic perspective, we summarized the therapeutic targets, agents and strategies with the most potential for treating SCLC, including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T therapy, immunomodulating antibodies, traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), and the microbiota, which have been found recently to improve the clinical outcomes and prognosis of SCLC. Multiomics technologies can be integrated to develop effective diagnostic methods and identify new targets for new drug discovery in SCLC. We discussed in depth the feasibility, potential, and challenges of these new strategies, as well as their combinational treatments, which may provide promising alternatives for enhancing the clinical efficacy of SCLC in the future.

This study explored the correlation between color and chemical components of Chrysanthemi Indici Flos(CIF), aiming at providing a reference for its procurement, evaluation, and breeding. Colorimeter and ultra-performance liquid chromatograph(UPLC) were used to determine the color(lightness-shade chromaticity value L~*, red-green chromaticity value a~*, yellow-blue chromati-city value b~*) and chemical components(cynaroside, linarin, luteolin, apigenin, and chlorogenic acid) of 84 CIF germplasms, respectively. Diversity analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and cluster analysis were performed. The results showed that the color and chemical components of CIF were diversified. Chlorogenic acid was in significantly positive correlation with L~* and b~* and significantly negative correlation with a~*. Cynaroside and grey relational grade γ_i of chemical components were in significantly po-sitive correlation with b~* and L~*, respectively, whereas linarin, luteolin, and apigenin had no significant correlation with L~*, a~*, or b~*. The 84 CIF germplasms were clustered into 4 clades. In addition, germplasms in clade Ⅲ had higher γ_i and total color value(E~*_(ab)) than those in other clades, with the best quality and color, and a germplasm with the highest quality, bright yellow color, and highest content of linarin was screened out in this clade. Thus, CIF with bright yellow color had high content of cymaroside and chlorogenic acid and thereby high quality. In summary, the color can be used to quickly predict the quality of CIF. Our results provided data for the evaluation of CIF quality by color and a reference for its procurement and breeding.

CONTEXT: Danggui Niantong Granules (DGNTG) are a valid and reliable traditional herbal formula, commonly used in clinical practice to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the mechanism of its effect on RA remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: An investigation of the therapeutic effects of DGNTG on RA. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into four groups: control, model, DGNTG (2.16 g/kg, gavage), methotrexate (MTX) (1.35 mg/kg, gavage) for 28 days. The morphology of synovial and ankle tissues was observed by haematoxylin-eosin staining. The responses of mitochondrial apoptosis were assessed by qPCR, Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining. Rat faeces were analysed by 16S rRNA sequencing. RESULTS: Our results showed that DGNTG treatment reduced AI scores (7.83 ± 0.37 vs. 4.67 ± 0.47, p < 0.01) and paw volumes (7.63 ± 0.17 vs. 6.13 ± 0.11, p < 0.01) compared with the model group. DGNTG also increased the expression of Bax (0.34 ± 0.03 vs. 0.73 ± 0.03, p < 0.01), cytochrome c (CYTC) (0.24 ± 0.02 vs. 0.64 ± 0.01, p < 0.01) and cleaved caspase-9 (0.24 ± 0.04 vs. 0.83 ± 0.08, p < 0.01), and decreased bcl-2 (1.70 ± 0.11 vs. 0.60 ± 0.09, p < 0.01) expression. DGNTG treatment regulated the structure of gut microbiota. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: DGNTG ameliorated RA by promoting mitochondrial apoptosis, which may be associated with regulating gut microbiota structure. DGNTG can be used as a supplement and alternative drug for the treatment of RA; its ability to prevent RA deserves further study.

As important factors to oolong tea quality, the accumulation and dynamic change in aroma substances attracts great attention. The volatile composition of oolong tea is closely related to the precursor contents. Fatty acids (FAs) and their derivatives are basic components of oolong tea fragrance during the postharvest process. However, information about the precursors of FAs during the postharvest process of oolong tea production is rare. To investigate the transformation of fatty acids during the process of oolong tea production, gas chromatograph−flame ionization detection (GC-FID) was conducted to analyze the composition of FAs. The results show that the content of total polyunsaturated FAs initially increased and then decreased. Specifically, the contents of α-linolenic acid, linoleic acid and other representative substances decreased after the turn-over process of oolong tea production. The results of partial least squares discrimination analysis (PLS-DA) showed that five types of FAs were obviously impacted by the processing methods of oolong tea (VIP > 1.0). LOX (Lipoxygenase, EC 1.13.11.12) is considered one of the key rate-limiting enzymes of long-chain unsaturated FAs in the LOX-HPL (hydroperoxide lyase) pathway, and the mechanical wounding occurring during the postharvest process of oolong tea production greatly elevated the activity of LOX.

BACKGROUND: Evidence concerning the effect of Tai Chi Yunshou motor imagery training (TCY-MIT) on upper extremity motor function (UE-MF) recovery in poststroke patients is lacking, and few studies have examined the neural mechanisms of MIT. The study was designed to assess the effectiveness of TCY-MIT and its possible neural mechanisms. METHODS/DESIGN: The study is an assessor-blinded, parallel, superiority, randomized clinical trial. A total of 78 eligible participants will be randomly assigned to 2 groups in a 1:1 ratio. Participants in the control group will receive (conventional rehabilitation therapies) CRTs for 40 min per day, 6 days per week, for 3 weeks. Participants in the intervention group will receive CRTs combined with TCY-MIT (30 min per day, 6 days per week, for 3 weeks). The primary outcome measure is the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Upper Extremity. Secondary outcome measures are the Box and Block Test, muscle strength test, modified Barthel index, and Pearson correlation coefficients. All outcomes will be assessed at baseline, after completion of the intervention (1, 2, and 3 weeks), and at the end of follow-up (2 months). The outcome assessor will be blinded to the group allocation of the participants. DISCUSSION: We expect this assessor-blinded, parallel, superiority, randomized clinical trial to explore the effectiveness of TCY-MIT combined with CRTs compared with CRTs alone for UE-MF in poststroke patients. American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius L.) is an herbal medicine with polysaccharides as its important active ingredient. The purpose of this research was to identify the effects of the polysaccharides of P. quinquefolius (WQP) on rats with antibiotic-associated diarrhoea (AAD) induced by lincomycin hydrochloride. WQP was primarily composed of galacturonic acid, glucose, galactose, and arabinose. The yield, total sugar content, uronic acid content, and protein content were 6.71%, 85.2%, 31.9%, and 2.1%, respectively. WQP reduced the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the ileum and colon, reduced the IL-1ß, IL-6, IL-17A, and TNF-α levels, increased the levels of IL-4 and IL-10 in colon tissues, improved the production of acetate and propionate, regulated the gut microbiota diversity and composition, improved the relative richness of Lactobacillus and Bacteroides, and reduced the relative richness of Blautia and Coprococcus. The results indicated that WQP can enhance the recovery of the intestinal structure in rats, reduce inflammatory cytokine levels, improve short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) levels, promote recovery of the gut microbiota and intestinal mucosal barrier, and alleviate antibiotic-related side effects such as diarrhoea and microbiota dysbiosis caused by lincomycin hydrochloride. We found that WQP can protect the intestinal barrier by increasing Occludin and Claudin-1 expression. In addition, WQP inhibited the MAPK inflammatory signaling pathway to improve the inflammatory status. This study provides a foundation for the treatment of natural polysaccharides to reduce antibiotic-related side effects.

The bottom mud of mangroves contains numerous microbial groups that play an important role in the main ecological functions of the mangrove ecosystem. The diversity and functional and environmental factors related to microbial communities, in terms of the assembly process and in environmental adaptation of the abundance and rare bacterial communities in the mangrove ecosystem, have not been fully explored. We used 16S high-throughput sequencing and operational taxonomic unit analysis to compare the diversity and composition of bacterial communities in different tidal zones in the sediments of the Zhanjiang Gaoqiao Mangrove Nature Reserve, compare the ecological adaptation thresholds and phylogenetic signals of bacterial communities under different environmental gradients, and examine the factors affecting the composition of the bacterial community. The diversity of microbial species and structure and function of the mangrove sediments were affected by the environment, showing the trend: mid tide zone > climax zone > low tide zone. Organic matter content, oxygen content, pH, and total phosphorus were identified as important environmental factors determining the functional diversity of bacterial communities and survival, while pH influences species evolution. The abundant taxa showed a wider response threshold and stronger phylogenetic signals of ecological preference across environmental gradients compared to rare taxa. The abundant bacterial groups have broader environmental adaptability than rare bacterial groups, and different environmental factors affect different communities and functions in the mangrove ecological environment. These results elucidate the mechanism underlying the generation and maintenance of bacterial diversity in response to global environmental changes.

The effects of six kinds of thermal processing on soluble protein recovery, potential allergenicity, in vitro digestibility and structural characteristics of shrimp soluble proteins were evaluated. Obtained results confirmed soluble protein recovery and IgG/IgE reactivity of shrimp soluble extracts were markedly suppressed by various thermal treatments with enhanced digestibility depended on the extent and type of heating applied, which correlated well with the structural alterations and modification. The maximum reduction of IgG/IgE-binding capacity and digestive stability were observed in the autoclaved shrimps because of unfolding of protein and hydrophobic residues exposed. Notably, tropomyosin (TM) and sarcoplasmic calcium-binding protein (SCP) were still IgG/IgE-reactive in various heat-processed shrimps, even higher IgG reactivity were found in heat-treated shrimps TM according to TM antiserum western-blotting and indirect ELISA results. Shrimp TM and SCP maintains its IgE/IgG-binding capacity after various cooking methods, thus most probably initiating allergic sensitization to both raw and cooked shrimps.
