RESUMO
Alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) represent a non-ionic surfactant widely used as adjuvants in pesticide formulation, which is considered to cause an endocrine-disrupting effect. In the current study, we established a detection method for the APEOs residue in tea based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) for the simultaneous analysis of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) and octylphenol ethoxylates (OPEOs) by UPLC-MS/MS. In the spiked concentrations from 0.024 to 125.38 µg/kg for 36 monomers of APEOs (nEO = 3-20), the recoveries of APEOs range from 70.3-110.7% with RSD ≤ 16.9%, except for OPEO20 (61.8%) and NPEO20 (62.9%). The LOQs of OPEOs and NPEOs are 0.024-6.27 and 0.16-5.01 µg/kg, respectively. OPEOs and NPEOs are detected in 50 marketed tea samples with a total concentration of 0.057-12.94 and 0.30-215.89 µg/kg, respectively. The detection rate and the range of the monomers of NPEOs are generally higher than those of OPEOs. The current study provides a theoretical basis for the rational use of APEOs as adjuvants in commercial pesticide production.

OBJECTIVE: This study assessed the iodine knowledge of pregnant and lactating women and the relationship to dietary iodine intake and iodine status. The factors influencing iodine intake were analysed. DESIGN: Basic information and iodine knowledge were collected via a questionnaire. A FFQ assessed dietary iodine intake. The urinary iodine concentration (UIC) was measured using the arsenic-cerium catalytic spectrophotometric determination of iodine in urine (WS/T 107 -2016). SETTING: A cross-sectional study involving pregnant and lactating women in Xinjiang, China was conducted. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 1181 pregnant women and 504 lactating women were enrolled in the study. RESULTS: The median UIC for pregnant and lactating women was 179·27 and 192·81 µg/l, respectively, and the dietary iodine intake was 407·16 and 356·89 µg/d, respectively. Of the pregnant and lactating women, 73·4 % and 82·5 % had medium iodine knowledge, respectively. In pregnant women, iodine knowledge and dietary iodine intake were positively correlated. High iodine knowledge and iodine education were shown to be protective factors for excessive iodine intake in pregnant women. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that the iodine nutritional status of women in Xinjiang was appropriate, and iodine knowledge was at a medium level, but there was confusion about iodine nutrition. Public education is needed to improve iodine knowledge and active iodine supplementation awareness among these populations of women.

Longan fruit loses its market value rapidly due to postharvest pathogenic infestation and quality deterioration. Here, we hypothesized that acidic electrolyzed water (AEW) could maintain higher quality of P. longanae-inoculated longans via regulating energy metabolism. Results indicated that AEW reduced fruit disease index and decay incidence. Significantly, AEW treatment retained higher levels of ATP, ADP, and energy charge, and higher activities of Ca2+-ATPase, Mg2+-ATPase, and H+-ATPase in the membranes of plasma, vacuole, and mitochondria, which maintained the structural and functional integrity of cell membrane. Furthermore, indirectly sustaining cell membrane function via AEW treatment could maintain the storability and quality properties of longans, including keeping higher values of color chromaticity (L*, a*, and b*), higher amounts of vitamin C, total soluble solids, sucrose, and total soluble sugars, lower titratable acid and reducing sugar contents. This work elucidated the potential regulation of AEW on the balance of energy metabolism and fruit quality.

The pharmaceutical manufacturing model is gradually changing from intermittent manufacturing to continuous manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing. This paper briefly reviewed the supervision and research progress in continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing in China and abroad and described the definition and advantages of continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing. The continuous manufacturing of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) at the current stage was summarized in the following three terms: the enhancement of the continuity of intermittent manufacturing operations, the integration of continuous equipment to improve physical continuity between units, and the application of advanced process control strategies to improve process continuity. To achieve continuous manufacturing of TCM, the corresponding key technologies, such as material property characterization, process modeling and simulation, process analysis technology, and system integration, were analyzed from the process and equipment, respectively. It was proposed that the continuous manufacturing equipment system should have the characteristics of high speed, high response, and high reliability, "three high(H~3)" for short. Considering the characteristics and current situation of TCM manufacturing, based on the two dimensions of product quality control and production efficiency, a maturity assessment model for continuous manufacturing of TCM, consisting of operation continuity, equipment continuity, process continuity, and quality control continuity, was proposed to provide references for the application of continuous manufacturing technology for TCM. The implementation of continuous manufacturing or the application of key continuous manufacturing technologies in TCM can help to systematically integrate advanced pharmaceutical technology elements and promote the uniformity of TCM quality and the improvement of production efficiency.

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is consequence of anesthesia and surgery that primarily affects older people. The prevention and treatment of POCD has drawn an increasing attention in recent decades. Here, we established the animal model mimicked POCD after femoral fracture surgery, and analyze the effect of acupuncture stimulation on postoperative cognitive function after femoral fracture surgery. Compared with the mock group, the cognitive function performance was significantly decreased both in the anaesthesia group and the surgery group, between which the symptoms were more severe in the surgery group. The peripheral inflammation response and the neuron impairment and inflammation response in the hippocampus were observed in the surgery group, but only peripheral inflammation response was detected in the anaesthesia group. These findings indicated the POCD was the synergistic outcome of anaesthesia and surgical stimulation but with different pathogenic mechanism. The surgery with mental tri-needles (surgery+MTN) group outperformed the surgery group in terms of cognitive function performance. The peripheral inflammation response and the neuron impairment and inflammation response in the hippocampus was significantly reduced by the electroacupuncture stimulation. Our findings indicated the protection of electroacupuncture form POCD after femoral fracture surgery is related to the inhibition of inflammation response and neuron impairment.

ObjectiveTo investigate the compatibility rule of traditional Chinese patent medicines (TCPMs) against liver diseases through network analysis. MethodWith “liver” as the search term, TCPMs against liver diseases were retrieved from volume Ⅰ of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2020 edition), and the basic information of them was collected. TCPMs with same Chinese medicinal materials (CMMs), usage, and indications, but different dosage forms, were unified as one formula. Mutual information entropy (MIE) of CMM couples was calculated to quantify the relationship between them, and the top 25% CMM pairs in MIE were used to construct the compatibility network, with CMM as node and the relationship between CMM pairs as the edge. Key CMM and frequently used CMM combinations were identified based on node centrality and cluster analysis, respectively. The indications of TCPMs related to the CMMs in clusters were recorded. Cytoscape 3.6.1 was employed for visualization and topology analysis of the compatibility network. ResultA total of 179 TCPMs, involving 428 CMMs, were retrieved. Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Paeoniae Radix Alba, and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma were identified as key CMMs with high frequency, and Cuscutae Semen-Lycii Fructus, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium-Cyperi Rhizoma, and Ecliptae Herba-Ligustri Lucidi Fructus combinations had high MIE. Furthermore, the CMMs were clustered into ten groups corresponding to different diseases which, however, all belonged to digestive diseases. ConclusionThis study unveils potential CMM pairs and common CMM combinations against liver diseases, which can serve as a reference for revealing compatibility rules of CMMs and research and development of Chinese medicine.
RESUMO
Traditional combined photodynamic and photothermal therapy (PDT/PTT) was limited in clinical treatment of cancer due to the exceptionally low drug delivery efficiency to tumor sites and the activation by laser excitation with different wavelengths. We have accidentally discovered that our synthesized chlorin e6-C-15-ethyl ester (HB, a new type of photosensitizer) be activated by a laser with an excitation wavelength of 660 nm. Herein, we utilized Au nanorods (AuNRs) as 660 nm-activated PTT carriers to be successively surface-functionalized with HB and tumor-targeting peptide cyclic RGD (cRGD) to develop HB-AuNRs@cRGD for single NIR laser-induced targeted PDT/PTT. The HB-AuNRs@cRGD could be preferentially accumulated within tumor sites and rapidly internalized by cancer cells. Thereby, the HB-AuNRs@cRGD could exhibit amplified therapeutic effects by producing both significant reactive oxygen species (ROS) and hyperthermia simultaneously under the guidance of fluorescence imaging. The tumor inhibition rate on ECA109 esophageal cancer model was approximately 77.04%, and the negligible systematic toxicity was observed. This study proposed that HB-AuNRs@cRGD might be a promising strategy for single NIR laser-induced and imaging-guided targeted bimodal phototherapy.

BACKGROUND: Oropharyngeal administration of colostrum (OAC) may provide immunoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects that potentially reduce the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and late-onset sepsis and improve short-term outcomes. Our objective was to evaluate the role of OAC in the early prevention of NEC and late-onset sepsis in preterm infants with gestational age (GA) ≤ 32 weeks. METHODS: A pilot, single-center, 1:1 parallel randomized controlled trial was conducted in a 40-bed tertiary neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in China from 1 January 2019 to 30 September 2020. Preterm infants were randomly divided into two groups with GA ≤ 32 weeks. The OAC group included preterm infants who received 0.4 ml of maternal colostrum via the oropharyngeal route every 3 h for 10 days beginning within the first 48 h after birth, and the control group included preterm infants who received normal saline instead. Data from the two groups were collected and compared. RESULTS: A total of 127 infants in the OAC group and 125 infants in the control group were enrolled. The incidence of NEC (Bell stage 2 or 3) and late-onset sepsis were lower in the OAC group [2.36% vs. 10.40%, relative risk (RR) 0.23 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.07, 0.78), adjusted RR 0.23 (95% CI 0.06, 0.84); 4.72% vs. 13.60%, RR 0.35 (95% CI 0.14, 0.85), adjusted RR 0.36 (95% CI 0.14, 0.95)]. In addition, the incidence of proven sepsis and intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) (stage 3 or 4) were lower in the OAC group [2.36% vs. 8.80%, RR 0.27 (95% CI 0.08, 0.94); 1.57% vs. 7.20%, RR 0.22 (95% CI 0.05, 0.99)], and the time to achieve full enteral feeding was shorter (23.13 ± 9.45 days vs. 28.50 ± 14.80 days). No adverse reactions were observed in either group. CONCLUSIONS: Oropharyngeal administration of colostrum is a safe and simple NICU procedure that may yield a potential effect in decreasing the incidences of NEC, late-onset sepsis, and severe IVH and shorten the time to achieve full enteral feeding in preterm infants with GA ≤ 32 weeks. This study examined the contribution of long-term use of Lipiodol capsules, as a supplement to iodised salt to the control of iodine deficiency disorders among women in Xinjiang of China. A total of 1220 women across Kashgar, Aksu, Turpan and Yili Prefectures were surveyed in 2017. Lipiodol capsules were administered twice yearly in Kashgar and once yearly in Aksu and Turpan, but not in Yili. Urinary iodine concentration (UIC), free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroglobulin antibody, thyroid peroxidase antibody and thyroid volume values were assessed. All the women in the four areas were in a state of non-iodine deficiency by UIC. The UIC were higher than adequate in Kashgar and Aksu (619·4 v. 278·6 µg/l). Thyroid hormone levels differed significantly in Turpan and Yili (FT3: 4·4 v. 4·6 pmol/l, FT4: 13·8 v. 14·2 pmol/l, TSH: 2·0 v. 2·7 mIU/l), but did not differ significantly in Kashgar, Aksu and Yili. The four areas did not differ significantly with regard to thyroid nodules, autoimmune thyroiditis or goitre. However, the detection rates of subclinical hypothyroidism (16·6 %) and total thyroid dysfunction (25·4 %) were higher among women in Yili. The supplementation with Lipiodol capsules had improved the iodine nutrition status of women in iodine-deficient areas of Xinjiang since 2006. To avoid negative effects of excess iodine, we suggest a gradual discontinuation of Lipiodol capsules in women with special needs based on the existing iodine nutrition level of local women.

AIMS: To explore the spiritual care competence among nurses in mainland China and determine its relationships with their self-efficacy and personal characteristics. BACKGROUNDS: Nurses' perception of competence in spiritual care has critical effects on their own practice. Having a view of the nurses' spiritual care competence would help nurse managers recognize the weakness of spiritual practice. METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional study using online survey methods was carried out in 2,970 Chinese nurses. Spiritual care competence scale and General Self-Efficacy Scale were used to collect the data. RESULTS: The total score of spiritual care competence scale was 58.5 (16.05). The highest score on competence was for communication (3.48 (0.97)), and the lowest was referral to professionals (2.25 (0.93)). Positive correlation was found between spiritual care competence and self-efficacy (r = .490, p < .01). Results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that self-efficacy, whether or not trained, experience of caring terminal illness patients, working experiences and first degree were the five factors associated with spiritual care competence (F = 217.425, p < .001, R2 = 26.7%). CONCLUSIONS: Nurses showed different levels of competence in various dimensions of spiritual care. Their spiritual care competence was related to self-efficacy, whether or not received training, experience of caring terminal illness patients, working experiences and first degree of nursing education. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT: Nurse managers have to realize that it is imperative to enhance the nurses' competence to address the spiritual care needs of patients. Appropriate ways to enhance the nurses' spiritual care competence are needed so as to improve spiritual practices.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To explore the effects of hospital-family holistic care model based on 'Timing It Right' on the health outcome of patients with permanent colostomy. BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumour of digestive system, which seriously threatens human life and health. Colostomy is one of the main treatments for colorectal cancer, which effectively improves the 5-year survival rate of patients. However, the postoperative psychological and physiological rehabilitation nursing is still faced with great challenges due to the change of body image and defecation pathway caused by colostomy. METHODS: A randomised controlled trial was conducted, and 119 patients with permanent enterostomy were randomly divided into two groups, with 60 cases in the intervention group and 59 cases in the control group. The intervention group received routine care follow-up and hospital-family holistic care intervention based on 'Timing It Right', while the control group received routine care and follow-up. The resilience, self-care ability, complications and life quality of patients with permanent enterostomy were compared between two groups before intervention, at discharge, 3 months and 6 months after discharge. CONSORT checklist was applied as the reporting guideline for this study (see Appendix S1). RESULTS: A total of 108 patients with permanent enterostomy completed the study (90.76%). At 3 months and 6 months after discharge, the resilience and quality of life in the intervention group were significantly better than those in the control group (t = 4.158 vs. 7.406, t = 4.933 vs. 8.611, p < .05), while the complications in the intervention group were significantly lower than that in the control group (25.5% vs. 41.51%, 14.45% vs. 30.19%; p < .05). The self-care ability of the intervention group was significantly better than that in the control group (t = 1.543 vs. 3.656 vs. 6.273, p < .05) at discharge, 3 months and 6 months after discharge. The interaction between time and grouping showed that the effect of time factor varied with the grouping. After intervention, there were significant differences in psychological resilience, self-care ability, complications and quality of life between the two groups at different observation points (p < .01). The three evaluation indices of intervention group increased with the migration of observation time points and were significantly better than those of control group, especially the quality of life (84.35 ± 4.25 vs. 60.45 ± 8.42, p < .01). CONCLUSIONS: The hospital-family holistic care model based on 'Timing It Right' can effectively improve the psychological resilience, self-care ability and quality of life; reduce complications; and improve the health outcomes of patients with permanent enterostomy. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Patients with permanent enterostomy have different needs for nursing care at different stages of the disease, and they are dynamically changing. The hospital-family holistic care model based on 'Timing It Right' can effectively improve the health outcomes of patients with permanent enterostomy, which is worthy of clinical application.

The research and development of classical famous prescriptions is an important way to actively promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine. It is particularly important to sort out the historical evolution of the composition of traditional famous prescriptions to make clear the origin, producing areas and concocting methods of traditional Chinese medicine, which is the source of ensuring the safety and efficacy.Through literature review,it is found that at present, the research of mulberry white skin focuses on chemical composition, pharmacological mechanism and modern clinical research, and there are few ancient literature studies. Therefore, based on the ancient literature, the author conducts a comprehensive textual research on mulberry bark from its name, origin, producing areas and concocting methods and other aspects,in order to provide literature reference for the research and development of the prescription involving mulberry bark in the classic prescription.Through research,we can know that there are more than 20 aliases of mulberry bark, and the most commonly used names in modern times are "sangbaipi""sanggenbaipi""sangpi",etc. In Tang and Song dynasties and before, mulberry bark was mainly composed of Morus alba var. alba and jisang, after Tang and Song dynasties, mulberry bark plant sources showed diversity,in modern times,Morus alba var. alba was gradually identified as the main medicinal species of mulberry bark. Therefore,it is suggested that Morus alba var. alba be selected as the plant source of mulberry bark.According to ancient books, mulberry trees are cultivated everywhere, with Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Sichuan as the best areas, and Henan and Anhui as the most popular areas in modern times. The conclusion of ancient and modern quality of mulberry bark is basically the same, the root skin is white, thick and sweet. The morden concocting methods of mulberry bark mainly include raw mulberry bark, honey mulberry bark and fried mulberry bark.According to the textual research of ancient literature,in addition to the above three kinds of medical specifications, there have been concocting methods without auxiliary materials, such as burning, baking and roasting,as well as concocting methods with auxiliary materials, such as bran roasting, rice swill soaking, honey wine roasting, etc. The concocting methods of mulberry bark used by the classical famous recipe should be selected in combination with specific drug provisions.
RESUMO
Little data are available on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in marine fish associated with oil and gas activities from the South China Sea (SCS). Twenty-one wild marine fish species from the northern South China Sea were collected for analysis of the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The total concentration of the PAHs (∑16PAHs) ranged from 199 to 606â¯ng·g-1 d.w., indicating moderate contamination. PAHs in fish species found in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) were significantly higher than those from the Yachen (YC) gas fields (pâ¯<â¯0.05). Planktivorous fish exhibited significantly higher concentrations of PAHs than carnivorous and omnivorous fish (pâ¯<â¯0.05). The PAHs were dominated by three ring compounds. Source identification analyses indicated that the PAH pollution originated from petroleum inputs. The cancer and non-cancer risk assessments concluded that the probable risk associated with the intake of PAHs via fish consumption is minimal. Long-term monitoring is necessary to determine the ecological impacts of PAHs associated with oil and gas activities.

Atmospheric pressure gas chromatography (APGC) coupled to quadrupole time-of-flight (QTOF) and electron ionization mass spectrometry together with commercial library search are two complementary techniques for non-target screening of volatile and semi-volatile compounds. Optimization was first conducted to achieve easier search of correspondent peaks between the two systems. Analytical strategy for the determination of volatile and semi-volatile compound with different identification confidence levels was then proposed and applied to food contact grade polypropylene (PP) samples. Identification was found to be much easier and less time-consuming especially when correspondent peak was found in the two systems with the help of library search, exact mass of precursor and fragment ions as well as Kovats Index (KI). The behavior of APGC-QTOF-MS was also further investigated. Apart from the M+. ion and the well-known adduct [M+H]+ others such as [M-3H + O]+, [M-3H+2O]+ and [M-H+3O]+ were also observed for n-alkanes. Besides, new reaction products were found, formed by diol compounds (1-Monostearoylglycerol, 2-Monostearoylglycerol and NX 8000K) and silanediol dimethyl, which would be a transformation product of the silicone base septum or the methyl 5% phenyl polysiloxane based column. These new compounds were only detected in APGC-MS-QTOF as EI-GC-MS was not enough sensitive for this purpose.

BACKGROUND: Carbendazim (methyl 1H-benzimidazol-2-ylcarbamate) residue in tea is a public concern. The large gap in the maximum residue limits (MRLs) for carbendazim in tea makes it difficult to conduct pesticide management. Therefore, a systemic evaluation of the residue and the health risk of carbendazim from the tea garden to brewed tea was investigated. RESULTS: The dissipation of carbendazim in tea shoots followed first-order rate kinetics, with a half-life (t1/2 ) of 2.6 days. In green tea manufacturing, the carbendazim decrease of 2.81-26.74% was concentration-positive. The infusion factor of carbendazim was > 0.8 from dry tea to brewed tea and this was related to the brewing temperature and the size of the dry tea. All of the risk quotient values were significantly less than 1 in the evaluation of carbendazim residue in real tea samples and MRL. CONCLUSION: Residue transfer and risk assessment were evaluated for carbendazim in green tea. Carbendazim revealed a less persistent nature in tea plants. Green tea processing played a small role in decreasing carbendazim residue. Almost all of the carbendazim in dry tea leached into the brewed tea. However, the possible health risk induced by residual carbendazim in green tea was not significant. These findings are helpful when reconsidering the MRLs of carbendazim in tea. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry.

This study aims to explore the intervention effect of Chinese medicine of nourishing kidney and clearing liver on intermittent hypoxia(IH) induced injury model of HUVECs through p38MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway in vitro. HUVECs injury model was induced by modified IH treatment. The effective components of Chinese medicine of nourishing kidney and clearing liver including isochteroside, aucubin and ligustrazine were used as intervention drugs. The optimal compatibility concentration of them was screened in vitro, and then the optimal compatibility concentration was selected as the intervention dose to observe the effect on p38MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway in IH induced injury model of HUVECs. The results showed that isochnae, aucubin and ligustrazine had the best anti-inflammatory effect at concentration of 0.01 mgâ¢L-1. NF-κB p65 and p-IκB in the nucleus in IH group were significantly higher than those in the normal control(N) group and the other groups. Immunofluorescence staining showed significant translocation of NF-κB p65 nucleus in IH group, and HUVECs adhesion capacity in IH group was increased significantly. As compared with IH group, the expression levels of p-p38MAPK, NF-κB p65 and p-IκB in p38MAPK inhibitor(INH) group and Chinese medicine of nourishing kidney and clearing liver(GDC) group were significantly decreased, and HUVECs adhesion capacity in INH group and GDC group was significantly inhibited as well. The optimal concentration of Chinese medicine of nourishing kidney and clearing liver can inhibit the phosphorylation of p38MAPK, and then inhibit the nuclear translocation and transcription function of NF-κB. This may be the mechanism of the protective effect of Chinese medicine on IH induced injury model of HUVECs.

We investigated distribution, sources, and potential risks of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the surface sediments from the largest mariculture base in the eastern part of the province of Guangdong in southern China. Total concentrations of ∑PAHs were 29.38-815.46ng/g (dry weight), with a mean of 421.48ng/g. The composition of PAHs was characterized by an abundance of low molecular weight PAHs (2-3 benzenoid ring), and Phenanthrene (PHE), Anthracene (AN) and Fluoranthene (FA) were the predominant constituents. PAHs in this area appear to have mainly originated from petroleum sources and the combustion of grass, wood, and coal. PAHs in surface sediments of Zhelin Bay had a 9% incidence of causing adverse biological effects on aquatic organisms, according to the mean effects range-median quotient.

Seven isoprenylated flavonoids were isolated from Artocarpus styracifolius, including one new triisoprenylated flavone, styracifolin D (1,) and six known ones, artocarpone B (2), kuwanon C (3), 6-C-prenyl luteolin (4), albanin A (5), 2,4,2',4'-tetrahydroxy-3'-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-chalcone (6), and 3'-[γ-hydroxymethyl-(E)- γ-methylallyl]-2,4,2',4'-tetrahydroxychalcone 11'-0-coumarate (7). The structures of these compounds were determined by analysis of their spectroscopic and mass spectrometric data. Of them, 3 and 5 exhibited inhibitory effects on cathepsin K with IC(50) values of 114.6 and 7.4 µM, respectively.
