RESUMO

This study aims to investigate the mechanism of Taohong Siwu Decoction (THSWD) against deep vein thrombosis (DVT) using network pharmacology and molecular docking technology. We used the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology database and reviewed literature to identify the main chemical components of THSWD. To find targets for DVT, we consulted GeneCards, Therapeutic Target Database, and PharmGKB databases. We used Cytoscape 3.8.2 software to construct herb-disease-gene-target networks. Additionally, we integrated drug targets and disease targets on the STRING platform to create a protein-protein interaction network. Then, we conducted Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and gene ontology analysis. Finally, We employed the molecular docking method to validate our findings. We identified 56 potential targets associated with DVT and found 61 effective components. beta-sitosterol, quercetin, and kaempferol were the most prominent among these components. Our analysis of the protein-protein interaction network revealed that IL6, L1B, and AKT1 had the highest degree of association. Gene ontology analysis showed that THSWD treatment for DVT may involve response to inorganic substances, negative regulation of cell differentiation, plasma membrane protein complex, positive regulation of phosphorylation, and signaling receptor regulator activity. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis indicated that lipid and atherosclerosis, pathways in cancer, as well as the PI3K-Akt pathway are the main signal pathways involved. Molecular docking results demonstrated strong binding affinity between beta-sitosterol, quercetin, kaempferol, and AKT1 proteins as well as IL1B and IL6 proteins. The main targets for THSWD treatment of DVT may include AKT1, IL1B, and IL6. Beta-sitosterol, quercetin, and kaempferol may be the active ingredients responsible for producing this effect. These compounds may slow down the progression of DVT by regulating the inflammatory response through the PI3K/Akt pathway.

Antimicrobial Photodynamic Treatment (aPDT) is a non-thermal sterilization technology, which can inactivate common foodborne pathogens. In the present study, photodynamic inactivation on Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) with different concentrations of curcumin and light dose was evaluated and the mechanisms were also investigated. The results showed that curcumin-based aPDT could inactivate S. aureus cells by 6.9 log CFU/mL in phosphate buffered saline (PBS). Moreover, the modified Gompertz model presented a good fit at the inactivation data of S. aureus. Photodynamic treatment caused cell membrane damage as revealed by analyzing scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. Leakage of intracellular constituents further indicated that cell membrane permeability was changed. Flow cytometry with double staining demonstrated that cell membrane integrity and the activity of nonspecific esterase were destroyed. Compared with the control group, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels caused by photodynamic treatment significantly increased. Furthermore, curcumin-based aPDT reduced S. aureus by 5 log CFU/mL in juices. The color of the juices was also tested using a Chromatic meter, and it was found that b* values were the most markedly influenced by photodynamic treatment. Overall, curcumin-based aPDT had strong antibacterial activity against S. aureus. This approach has the potential to remove foodborne pathogens from liquid food.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the efficacy of applying Kanglaite (KLT) injection under incentive nursing intervention (INI) in treating patients with advanced penile carcinoma and its effect on patient treatment compliance. METHODS: The clinical data of 120 patients with advanced penile carcinoma treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from February 2019 to February 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and the patients were equally divided into the experimental group (n = 60) and control group (n = 60) according to their admission order. All patients received the KLT injection treatment; those in the control group accepted the conventional nursing; and on this basis, those in the experimental group accepted INI, including psychological nursing intervention, which was conducted concurrently with the treatment, to compare their short-term efficacy, treatment compliance, degree of cancer-related fatigue (Brief Fatigue Inventory), and negative emotion scores (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale) between the two groups. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the experimental group presented a significantly higher objective remission rate (58.3%) (P < 0.05), higher rates of excellent and good treatment compliance (P < 0.05), and lower degree of cancer-related fatigue and negative emotion scores (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: INI can improve the negative emotions in patients with advanced carcinoma of the penis, alleviate their degree of cancer-related fatigue, promote their treatment compliance, and achieve a more significant efficacy of applying the KLT injection treatment, so it should be promoted in practice.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical efficacy of treating endometrial cancer with Xiaoaiping tablets under comprehensive nursing intervention and their effect on quality of life. METHODS: The clinical data of 120 endometrial cancer patients treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from February 2019 to February 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and the patients were split into the experimental group and the control group according to their admission order, with 60 cases each. Conventional treatment and Xiaoaiping tablet regimen were received by all patients, those in the control group accepted the general nursing, and those in the experimental group accepted the comprehensive nursing intervention for 12 months, so as to compare their clinical efficacy, quality of life (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy, FACT), negative emotion scores (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, HAD), and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire (MCMQ) scores between the two groups. RESULTS: No statistical differences in the patients' general information between the two groups were observed (P > 0.05); compared with the control group after nursing, the experimental group obtained a significantly higher objective remission rate (80.0%), significantly higher disease control rate (90.0%) (P < 0.05), significantly better QOL (P < 0.001), significantly lower negative emotion scores (P < 0.001), and significantly better MCMQ scores (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Adopting Xiaoaiping tablets under comprehensive nursing intervention can improve the negative emotions of patients with endometrial cancer, enhance their confidence in medical treatment, present better efficacy, and obviously promote their QOL. Therefore, comprehensive nursing intervention should be promoted and applied in practice.
