RESUMO

Vine tea (Ampelopsis grossedentata), a traditional Chinese tea, is rich in flavonoids with various biological activities. Our study found that Vine tea total flavonoids (TFs) treatment reduced the body mass and blood lipid levels and improved the hepatic tissue morphology in mice fed the high-fat diet (HFD). In vivo, TF treatment activated the hepatic adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, initiated autophagy, and regulated the expression levels of proteins for lipid metabolism in those HFD-fed mice. In vitro, TF treatment dramatically reduced the lipid droplets and triacylglycerol content in HepG2 and L02 cells treated with oleic acid (OA). These were associated with the activation of the AMPK/mTOR pathway and autophagy initiation in OA-treated hepatocytes. This phenotype was abolished in the presence of 3-methyladenine, an autophagy inhibitor. Our results indicated that the TF activation of AMPK/mTOR leads to the stimulation of autophagy and a decrease in the buildup of intracellular lipids in hepatocytes, showing the potential of TF as a therapeutic agent for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Vine tea, a tea drink, has been consumed by Chinese folk for over a thousand years. The result of this study will provide evidence that vine tea total flavonoids have potential use as a functional material for the prevention and amelioration of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

RESUMO

In recent years, the potent influence of tocotrienol (T3) on diminishing blood glucose and lipid concentrations in both Mus musculus (rats) and Homo sapiens (humans) has been established. However, the comprehensive exploration of tocotrienol's hypolipidemic impact and the corresponding mechanisms in aquatic species remains inadequate. In this study, we established a zebrafish model of a type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) model through high-fat diet administration to zebrafish. In the T2DM zebrafish, the thickness of ocular vascular walls significantly increased compared to the control group, which was mitigated after treatment with T3. Additionally, our findings demonstrate the regulatory effect of T3 on lipid metabolism, leading to the reduced synthesis and storage of adipose tissue in zebrafish. We validated the expression patterns of genes relevant to these processes using RT-qPCR. In the T2DM model, there was an almost two-fold upregulation in pparγ and cyp7a1 mRNA levels, coupled with a significant downregulation in cpt1a mRNA (p < 0.01) compared to the control group. The ELISA revealed that the protein expression levels of Pparγ and Rxrα exhibited a two-fold elevation in the T2DM group relative to the control. In the T3-treated group, Pparγ and Rxrα protein expression levels consistently exhibited a two-fold decrease compared to the model group. Lipid metabolomics showed that T3 could affect the metabolic pathways of zebrafish lipid regulation, including lipid synthesis and decomposition. We provided experimental evidence that T3 could mitigate lipid accumulation in our zebrafish T2DM model. Elucidating the lipid-lowering effects of T3 could help to minimize the detrimental impacts of overfeeding in aquaculture.

RESUMO

This study investigated the acute toxicity of fermented Platycodonis Radix on mice and its effect on coughing in mice infected with Mycoplasma pneumoniae. The maximum dosage(MAD) was used in the acute toxicity experiment on mice to observe the signs of mice. After 14 days, dissection, blood biochemical examination, and pathological tissue section observation were conducted. In the pharmacological experiment of fermented Platycodonis Radix, 60 healthy BALB/c mice, 30 males and 30 females, were randomly divided into a blank group, a model group, a carbetapentane group(0.013 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), and high-, medium-, and low-dose fermented Platycodonis Radix groups(5.2, 2.6, and 1.3 g·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), with 10 mice in each group. Except for the blank group, the mice in the other five groups underwent model induction by intranasally instilling 20 µL of 1×10~6 CCU M. pneumoniae for 3 days, and the mice in each group were orally administered the corresponding drugs for 7 days. Cough induction experiment was conducted to observe and record the cough latency and total cough count within 3 min for each group. Hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining and Masson staining were used to observe the pathological changes in lung tissues. Immunohistochemistry was performed to observe the protein expression of transient receptor potential A1(TRPA1), calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP), and substance P(SP) in the lung tissues of mice in each group. Real-time fluorescence-based quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR) was used to elucidate the changes in the mRNA levels of cough-related factors TRPA1, CGRP, and SP in mice treated with fermented Platycodonis Radix. No mice died in the acute toxicity experiment, and there were no changes in general behavior and major organ histopathological examinations. Compared with the blank group, there were no statistically significant differences in blood biochemical indexes. In the pharmacological experiment of fermented Platycodonis Radix, compared with the model group, the high-and medium-dose fermented Platycodonis Radix groups showed improved lung tissue structure of mice, with clear structure and regular tissue morphology. The qRT-PCR and immunohistochemical detection showed a decrease in the expression of TRPA1, CGRP, and SP in the fermented Platycodonis Radix groups. Fermented Platycodonis Radix can exert an inhibitory effect on cough by suppressing the expression of TRPA1, CGRP, and SP in lung tissues, thereby identifying the target of the drug.

RESUMO

To investigate the molecular mechanism of Yiwei Decoction (YWD) in preventing Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)-related osteoporosis from the hypothalamic perspective , and to screen for the key active and acting molecules in YWD. Cyclophosphamide was used to create the POI rat model. Groups A, B, and C were established. The Model + YWD group was group A, the model control group was group B, and the normal control group was group C. ELISA was used to determine serum GnRH and FSH levels after gavage. The transcription levels of mRNAs in each group's hypothalamus tissues were examined using RNA-seq sequencing technology. The GSEA method was used to enrich pathways based on the gene expression levels of each group. The TCM-active ingredient-target-disease network map was created using differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs) and network pharmacology. The molecular docking method was employed to investigate the affinity of the active ingredient with key targets. GnRH and FSH levels in POI rats' serum were reduced by YWD. Between groups A and B, there were 638 DEmRNAs (P < 0.05) and 55 high-significance DEmRNAs (P-adjust < 0.01). The MAPK, Hedgehog, Calcium, and B cell receptor pathways are primarily enriched in DEmRNAs from Group A and Group B. The GSEA pathway enrichment analysis indicates that YWD may regulate Long-term potentiation, Amphetamine addiction, and the Renin-angiotensin system and play a role in preventing osteoporosis. The Chinese herbal medicine (CHM)-Active ingredient-Target-disease network map includes 137 targets, 4 CHMs, and 22 active ingredients. The result of docking indicated that Stigmasterol, interacts well with the core proteins ALB, VCL and KAT5. Following the screening, we identified the targets, active components, and key pathways associated with YWD osteoporosis prevention. Most of these key targets and pathways are associated with osteoporosis, but further experimental validation is required.

RESUMO

The management of idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) poses a significant challenge because of its ambiguous etiology. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combined with mammotome-assisted minimally invasive surgery (MAMIS) for the treatment of IGM. This retrospective cohort study included patients with IGM who underwent treatment at our hospital between January 2017 and June 2022. Patients treated with Shugan Sanjie decoction alone and preoperative Shugan Sanjie decoction combined with MAMIS were included in Groups A and B, respectively. We focused on the demographics, clinical characteristics, and outcomes of the patients in the 2 groups. A total of 124 female patients with an average age of 33.9 ± 3.6 years were included in the study. The demographic and clinical characteristics of patients in Groups A (n = 55) and B (n = 69) were similar (P > .05). However, there were significant differences between the 2 groups in terms of treatment duration, 1-year complete remission (CR), and recurrence. Group B showed shorter treatment time (11.7 ± 5.1 vs 15.3 ± 6.4 months, P = .001), higher 1-year CR (72.5% vs 45.5%, P = .002), and lower recurrence (7.2% vs 21.8%, P = .019) in comparison to Group A. Shugan Sanjie decoction promoted the shrinkage of breast lesions in patients with IGM. Combined with MAMIS, this treatment regimen shortened the treatment duration, accelerated the recovery process, and reduced the recurrence rate.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Vitamin B6 is an essential water-soluble vitamin for humans. It is often used to prevent a variety of neuropathies, relieve vomiting, and relieve symptoms such as hand and foot neuritis. AIM: To evaluate whether vitamin B6 can alleviate the adverse reactions caused by the quadruple anti-Helicobacter pylori treatment regimen containing minocycline and metronidazole. METHODS: In this randomized controlled trial, 280 patients with H. pylori infection were randomly placed into one of two treatment groups-the conventional treatment group and the vitamin B6 supplement treatment group-for 2 weeks. The primary endpoint was the total incidence of adverse reactions up to 2 weeks after treatment initiation. The study was designed according to CONSORT Medicinal Interventions. And it was registered with Chinese Clinical Trial Registry under the number ChiCTR2100053833. RESULTS: In terms of efficacy, vitamin B6 does not affect the efficacy of conventional regimen. In the vitamin B6 supplement treatment group, the incidence of adverse reactions was 56.92%, which was significantly lower than the 74.62% observed in the conventional treatment group. In addition, the severity of adverse reactions was also significantly reduced. The proportion of moderate to severe central nervous system symptoms decreased from 58.7 to 14.63%. And, the proportion of moderate to severe gastrointestinal reactions decreased from 33.33 to 0%. We speculate that the mechanism of vitamin B6 of reducing adverse reaction may be related to the production of GABA in the brain. CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin B6 can alleviate adverse reactions of the quadruple anti-H. pylori regimen containing minocycline and metronidazole.

RESUMO

Most reported polysaccharides from Poria cocos (PCPs) in traditional Chinese medicine decoctions were water-soluble heteropolysaccharides while the water-insoluble PCPs were scarcely researched due to the poor water-solubility. In this study, a water-insoluble polysaccharide with high yield of 59%, and high purity with a glucan content of 98.8%, was isolated by diluted sodium hydroxide at low temperature and coded as PCPA. The chemical structure of PCPA was identified as a liner ß-glucan with 1, 3-linked glycosidic bond by the fourier infrared spectrum (FT-IR), ion chromatography (ICP), gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements. Importantly, PCPA was successfully used to construct hydrogels (PCPA-Gs) with good thermal stability, water retention ability and swelling property through simple physical cross-linking, due to the abundance of hydroxyl groups on glucan chains. Moreover, the rheology analysis of PCPA-Gs showed a rapid transition between gel and sol as well as the shear-thinning property. The hydrogel developed in this study holds promise for applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic fields.

RESUMO

Improving the dispersed stability of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) is the key to its application. In this study, yeast glucan with different degrees of amination (BNs) were used as stabilizers and capping agent to prepare dispersed SeNPs. The size, storage stability, and morphology of BNs/SeNPs were characterized. Results show that BNs/SeNPs presented positive potential and spherical morphologies with average particle size about 100-300 nm and kept stable at room temperature for a long time. The CCK-8 assay showed that BNs/SeNPs had significantly lower toxicity to RAW264.7 cells than SeNPs. Moreover, BNs/SeNPs could inhibit the generation of NO, IL-1ß and IL-6 effectively in RAW 264.7 macrophages induced by LPS, and down-regulate the mRNA transcription of iNOS, IL-1ß, IL-6 and chemokines (CCL2 and CCL5), indicating that BNs/SeNPs had good anti-inflammatory activity. Therefore, aminated yeast glucan could improve the stability and bioactivity of SeNPs simultaneously, which is a promising stabilizer for SeNPs.

RESUMO

AIMS: To evaluate the protective effect of intestinal supplementation with Lacticaseibacillus casei CNRZ1874 on the inflammatory response induced by Mycoplasma pneumoniae in C57BL/6 J mice, and provide a potential strategy for alleviating M. pneumoniae pneumonia. METHODS AND RESULTS: C57BL/6 J mice were gavaged with L. casei CNRZ1874 or PBS for 7 consecutive days, and then infected with M. pneumoniae on day 8. Treatment with L. casei CNRZ1874 significantly reduced M. pneumoniae loads in the lungs and alleviated the lung inflammation on day 3 and 10 after pathogen infection. Importantly, oral administration with L. casei CNRZ1874 promoted M1 alveolar macrophages activation as evidenced by increased expression of iNOS, TNF-α, and CXCL1, while inhibited M2 alveolar macrophages activation as the expression of Arg1 and Chi3l3 were significantly decreased. In consistent with the M1 alveolar macrophages activation and enhanced mycoplasma clearance, the level of TNF-α was increased while the level of IL-4 was decreased in lung tissue from the L. casei CNRZ1874 group compared with the control group. However, oral administration with L. casei CNRZ1874 may not influence adaptive immunity induced by M. pneumoniae as evaluated by M. pneumoniae specific antibodies and T cells responses in spleen. CONCLUSIONS: Intestinal supplementation with L. casei CNRZ1874 can promote M1 alveolar macrophages activation, which contributes to the clearance of M. pneumoniae and attenuation of M.pneumoniae pneumonia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: High levels of glycolysis supply large quantities of energy and biological macromolecular raw materials for cell proliferation. Triptolide (TP) is a kind of epoxy diterpene lactone extracted from the roots, flowers, leaves, or grains of the Celastraceae plant, Tripterygium wilfordii. TP has multiple biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, immunologic suppression, and anti-cancer effects. Nevertheless, it is little known regarding its anti-intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) growth, and the mechanism still require exploration. PURPOSE: This research explored the effect of TP on ICC growth and investigated whether TP inhibits glycolysis via the AKT/mTOR pathway. METHODS: Cell proliferation was analyzed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), clonogenic assay, and flow cytometry. The underlying molecular mechanism was identified by determining glucose consumption, ATP production, lactate production, hexokinase (HK) and pyruvate kinase (PK) activity, and Western blot analysis. A rapid ICC model of AKT/YapS127A oncogene coactivation in mice was used to clarify the effect of TP treatment on tumor growth and glycolysis. RESULTS: The results showed that TP treatment significantly inhibited ICC cell proliferation and glycolysis in a dose- and time-dependent manner(P < 0.05). Further analysis suggested that TP suppressed ICC cell glycolysis by targeting AKT/mTOR signaling. Additionally, we found that TP inhibits tumor growth and glycolysis in AKT/YapS127A mice(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Taken together, we revealed that TP suppressed ICC growth by suppressing glycolysis via the AKT/mTOR pathway and may provide a potential therapeutic target for ICC treatment.

RESUMO

Saussurea involucrata oral liquid (SIOL) can clinically relieve symptoms, such as joint pain and swelling, and morning stiffness, in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the mechanism of action remains unclear. This study used a combination of gut microbiota and serum metabolomics analysis to investigate the effects and potential mechanisms of SIOL intervention on rats with RA induced by type II bovine collagen and Freund's complete adjuvant. Results showed that SIOL treatment consequently improved the degree of ankle joint swelling, joint histopathological changes, joint pathological score, and expression of serum-related inflammatory cytokines (interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor-α) in RA model rats. 16 S rRNA sequencing results showed that SIOL increased the relative richness of the Lactobacillus and Bacteroides genus and decreased the relative richness of Romboutsia, Alloprevotella, Blautia, and Helicobacter genus. Serum nontargeted metabolomic results indicated that SIOL could regulate metabolites related to metabolic pathways, such as glycine, serine, threonine, galactose, cysteine, and methionine metabolism. Spearman correlation analysis showed that the regulatory effects of SIOL on the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, phenylalanine metabolism, phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan biosynthesis, and glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism pathways were correlated with changes in the richness of the Lactobacillus, Romboutsia, Bacteroides, and Alloprevotella genus in the gut microbiome. In conclusion, this study revealed the ameliorative effects of SIOL on RA and suggested that the therapeutic effects of SIOL on RA may be related to the regulation of the community richness of the Lactobacillus, Romboutsia, Bacteroides, and Alloprevotella genus, thereby improving the TCA cycle; phenylalanine metabolism; phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan biosynthesis, and glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism-related pathways.

RESUMO

Background: Polysaccharide metal chelate exhibit both immunoregulatory activity and metal element supplementation effects. Methods: In this study, Ruoqiang jujube polysaccharide copper chelate (RJP-Cu) was prepared and the preparation conditions were optimized using the response surface method. Subsequently, RJP-Cu was administered to lambs to evaluate its impact on growth performance, copper ion (Cu2+) supplementation, immune enhancement, and intestinal flora was evaluated. Results: The results indicated that optimal RJP-Cu chelation conditions included a sodium citrate content of 0.5 g, a reaction temperature of 50°C, and a solution pH of 8.0, resulting in a Cu2+ concentration of 583°mg/kg in RJP-Cu. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed significant structural changes in RJP before and after chelation. RJP-Cu displaying characteristic peaks of both polysaccharides and Cu2+ chelates. Blood routine indexes showed no significant differences among the RJP-Cu-High dose group (RJP-Cu-H), RJP-Cu-Medium dose group (RJP-Cu-M), RJP-Cu-low dose group (RJP-Cu-L) and the control group (p > 0.05). However, compared with the control group, the RJP-Cu-H, M, and L dose groups significantly enhanced lamb production performance (p < 0.05). Furthermore, RJP-Cu-H, M, and L dose groups significantly increased serum Cu2+ concentration, total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), catalase (CAT), and total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) contents compared with control group (p < 0.05). The RJP-Cu-H group exhibited significant increases in serum IgA and IgG antibodies, as well as the secretion of cytokines IL-2, IL-4, and TNF-α compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, RJP-Cu-H group increased the species abundance of lamb intestinal microbiota, abundance and quantity of beneficial bacteria, and decrease the abundance and quantity of harmful bacteria. The RJP-Cu-H led to the promotion of the synthesis of various Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs), improvements in atrazine degradation and clavulanic acid biosynthesis in lambs, while reducing cell apoptosis and lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis. Conclusion: Thus, these findings demonstrate that RJP-Cu, as a metal chelate, could effectively promote lamb growth performance, increase Cu2+ content, and potentially induce positive immunomodulatory effects by regulating antioxidant enzymes, antibodies, cytokines, intestinal flora, and related metabolic pathways.

RESUMO

An Fe-catalyzed unprotected hydroxylamine mediated Heck-type coupling between sulfinic acids and alkenes for the regioselective synthesis of (E)-vinyl sulfones has been developed. Mechanism studies indicated for the first time that a radical process may be involved and that hydroxylamines play multiple roles, including those of a mild oxidant and an in situ base. It was found for the first time that this transformation not only realizes C-S bond construction promoted by unprotected hydroxylamines, but also provides a practical and complementary method for the preparation of structurally important (E)-vinyl sulfones.

RESUMO

Background: Kai Hou Jian has an outstanding therapeutic effect and clinical use against pharyngeal infection for many years, while a few studies reported it also had an effect in laryngitis. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of short-course oral inhalation of traditional Chinese medicine Kai Hou Jian in adults with acute laryngitis. Methods: A total of 86 patients with acute laryngitis who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned according to the random number table method into a Kai Hou Jian treatment group or a budesonide control group. Patients received 2.5 mL of Kai Hou Jian via transoral atomization twice daily for 1 week, while the control group received budesonide nebulization (1 mg, bid) for 1 week. The change of symptoms scores of acute laryngitis and laryngoscopy scores before and after treatment were performed to value the effect of Kai Hou Jian and the safety was assessed by the patient's discomfort and the incidence and self-reported adverse events during treatment. Results: The symptoms of acute laryngitis were significantly reduced in patients treated with Kai Hou Jian on day-3. Forty-two patients from the Kai Hou Jian and 40 patients from budesonide treated groups both experienced notable clinical improvement after 1 week. There was no difference in the two groups at the baseline. For individual symptoms, Kai Hou Jian could significantly improve sore throat [95% confidence interval (CI): -1.81 to -0.14, P=0.03], while budesonide yielded better improvement in hoarseness (95% CI: 0.67 to 0.20, P=0.001). For laryngoscopic parameters, the scores of laryngeal mucosa were significantly decreased in both groups from baseline, and there were no statistical differences in vocal cord hyperemia, edema, sputum congestion, edema, mucus adhesion, or epiglottic congestion between the groups after 1 week. We also found that the treatment of Kai Hou Jian nebulization could reduce the extent or range of vocal cord leukoplakia after 1 week. Conclusions: The short-course treatment of Kai Hou Jian atomization had significant effect in improving adult acute laryngitis and it was also possibly exhibiting a positive effect on vocal cord leukoplakia. RESUMO

Background and purpose: Previous studies have indicated the protective effects of luteolin against non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), but the definite underlying mechanism still remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the metabolomic and metagenomic signatures of NASH with luteolin supplementation. Experimental approach: Mice were fed with a methionine-choline-deficient (MCD) diet containing 0.05% luteolin for 6 weeks. NASH severity was determined based on the liver histological observations, serum and hepatic biochemical measurements. Targeted metabolomics was conducted to identify differential metabolites in mice serum. 16S rRNA sequencing was conducted to assess the gut microbiota composition and function in mice colon. Results: In detail, luteolin treatment significantly alleviated MCD diet-induced hepatic lipid deposition, liver function damage, and oxidative stress. Targeted plasma metabolomics revealed that 5-hydroxyindole, LPE (0:0/22:5), indole 3-phosphate, and N-phenylacetylphenylalanine were remarkably elevated, and homogentisic acid, thiamine, KN-93, PC (16:1e/8, 9-EpETE), carnitine C9:1-OH, FFA (18:4) and carnitine C8:1 were significantly decreased in NASH group as compared to normal group, which could be profoundly reversed after luteolin treatment. 16S rRNA sequencing indicated that luteolin supplementation significantly increased Erysipelatoclostridium and Pseudomonas as well as decreased Faecalibaculum at genus level. Most importantly, a negative association between thiamine and Faecalibaculum was observed based on Spearman's correlation analysis, which may play an important role in the preventive effects of luteolin against NASH. Conclusion: Collectively, luteolin may alleviate the NASH by modulating serum metabolome and gut microbiome, which supports its use as a dietary supplement for NASH prevention.

RESUMO

The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the effects of resistant starch (RS) on inflammation and oxidative stress related indicators. PubMed, Embase and The Cochrane library were systematically searched to find randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of RS intervention up to February 2020. We used from the effect size, as estimated by the standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) to perform the random method meta-analysis, with P value ≦0.05 as statistically significant. The 16 included trials with 17 effect sizes included a total of 739 participants in this paper. The intervention duration was from 2 weeks to 3 months. The analysis indicated that RS decreases the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) (SMD = -0.711; 95%CI: -1.227, -0.194; P = 0.007) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) (SMD = -0.609; 95%CI: -0.924, -0.294; P < 0.001), increases total antioxidant capacity (TAC) (SMD = 2.543, 95% CI: 0.069: 5.017, P = 0.044). No significant effects on C-reactive protein (CRP) (SMD = -0.583; 95%CI: -1.270, 0.104; P = 0.096), superoxide dismutase (SOD) (SMD = 0.091; 95%CI: -0.156, 0.338; P = 0.471), and malondialdehyde (MDA) (SMD = -0.320; 95%CI: -0.907, 0.266; P = 0.285). Subgroup analysis shown that CRP level significant reduced in subjects from the east (SMD = -1.501; 95%CI: -2.662, -0.340; P = 0.011) or suffering from diseases (SMD: -1.057; 95%CI: -1.999, -0.115; P = 0.028).Supplemental data for this article is available online at https://doi.org/10.1080/01635581.2021.2019284.

RESUMO

The present work reported the extraction, purification and characterization of an inulin fructan from Codonopsis pilosula (CPW1) and its application in stabilization of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs). The morphology, stability, and stabilization mechanism of CPW1 stabilized SeNPs (CPW1-Se) were explored, and the results showed that the SeNPs were amorphous state, with size of 54-79 nm, and kept stable within 15 days due to the interaction between SeNPs and the hydroxyl groups on the surface of CPW1. Moreover, the effects on proliferation and apoptosis of CPW1-Se to both normal cells (293T) and liver cancer cells (Huh-7 and HepG2) were evaluated systematically by using the CCK8 assay, plate clone formation assay, flow cytometry and western blot. The results indicated that CPW1-Se possessed selective anti-hepatoma activities without side effects on normal cells, which exhibited strong potential application in liver cancer treatments.

RESUMO

Objectives: In this study, we assessed the effects of psychiatric issues and early enteral nutrition therapy on anxiety and quality-of-life of patients with gastric cancer. Methods: We enrolled 60 patients with gastric cancer treated from January 2018 to November 2020 and divided them into 2 groups using a random number table (N=30 per group). All patients received early enteral nutrition therapy. The control group was given routine nursing; treatment of persons in the observation group was supplemented with additional psychiatric nursing. We then compared anxiety-depression scores, treatment compliance, nutritional status indices, and quality-of-life score. Results: The Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) score and the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) score significantly declined in both groups after nursing compared with those before nursing (p<.05). After nursing, the SAS score and SDS score were lower in the observation group versus the control group (p<.05). The total rate of treatment compliance in the observation group (93.33%) was higher than that in the control group (73.33%) (p<.05). After nursing, the levels of hemoglobin, albumin, prealbumin, and transferrin were significantly higher in both groups than before nursing (p<.05), but higher in the observation group (p<.05). After nursing, the quality-of-life score was significantly higher in both groups than before nursing (p<.05), but higher in the observation group (p<.05). Conclusion: During enteral nutrition therapy for patients with gastric cancer, psychiatric treatment can effectively alleviate patient anxiety and depression, enhance treatment compliance, improve nutritional status, and enhance quality-of-life.

RESUMO

In order to avoid the psychological harm caused by pain to patients, in this study, the application effect of computer-assisted local anesthesia in patient surgery was studied. In this method, 72 patients with hypertension, 35 males and 37 females, aged 53-83 years, with an average age of 70.8 ± 1.3 years, were selected for appointment tooth extraction in the department of stomatology from January to December 2014. All patients were booked for tooth extraction by ECG monitoring. Patients who were contraindicated for tooth extraction, had a history of mental illness, and had used antianxiety drugs and sedatives within 1 week before surgery were excluded. Patients were randomly divided into two groups according to their ID numbers: observation group, 36 cases, and control group. Painless oral local anesthesia injection instrument was used for local anesthesia injection. In the control group, 36 patients were injected with local anesthesia by traditional manual injection. The results showed that 86.11% of patients in the observation group had decreased anxiety scores after anesthesia, while only 13.88% of patients in the control group had decreased anxiety scores. Among patients with decreased anxiety scores, 80.65% in the observation group became nondental anxiety compared with 28.57% in the control group. Computer-assisted oral local anesthesia can effectively control dental anxiety and relieve the pain and discomfort of local anesthesia injection, and improve patient satisfaction, conducive to the smooth nursing work.

RESUMO

In southern China, the growing period of rice is synchronized with the rainy period, and the loss of nutrients (such as nitrogen) due to unreasonable irrigation and drainage, along with rainfall and runoff, has become the main source of agricultural nonpoint source pollution. The laws of runoff and nitrogen loss in paddy fields under different irrigation and drainage modes are not clear. In this study, field experiments were adopted to observe the runoff and nitrogen loss under typical rainfall and throughout the whole growth period. The results showed that, compared with the traditional irrigation and drainage mode, the controlled irrigation and drainage mode reduced the drainage of two typical rainfall processes by 47.5% and 31.3% and the peak drainage by 38.9% and 14.4%. Compared with those under the traditional irrigation and drainage mode, the average concentrations of total nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, and ammonium nitrogen under the controlled irrigation and drainage mode were reduced by 22.2%, 22.7%, and 27.8%, respectively, during the whole rainfall process on July 21 and were decreased by 27.1%, 11.4%, and 25.6%, respectively, on August 25. In irrigated rice areas, under the controlled irrigation and drainage mode, drainage was reduced after two intercepts through paddy fields and drainage ditches. The nitrogen concentration in the drainage ditch decreased due to the increase in retention time and the effect of the ditch and field wetland. Compared with the traditional irrigation and drainage mode, the total nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, and ammonium nitrogen loads of the controlled irrigation and drainage mode were reduced by 69.8%, 65.3%, and 69.7%, respectively.
