RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: to identify scientific evidence regarding nursing care for parents who have experienced grief following fetal demise. METHODS: an integrative review of original studies was conducted across six databases. The studies were classified according to the level of evidence. RESULTS: the qualitative analysis of the nine studies comprising the sample involved thematic categories, exploring the impact of perinatal loss on families, inadequate communication by healthcare professionals, and the importance of a holistic approach in care. The role of the nurse is highlighted in making a positive contribution to the team, emphasizing participation in training and the provision of essential information. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: grieving affects not only family dynamics but also the social environment, emphasizing the urgency of a more empathetic and comprehensive approach. Care should be holistic, going beyond technical nursing assistance, and addressing the biopsychosocial context of the parents.

Métodos: revisión integradora de estudios originales realizada en seis bases de datos y clasificados según el nivel de evidencia. Resultados: el análisis cualitativo de los nueve estudios que conformaron la muestra abordó categorías temáticas, explorando el impacto de la pérdida perinatal en las familias, la comunicación inadecuada por parte de los profesionales de la salud y la importancia de un enfoque holístico en la atención. Se destaca la importancia del papel del enfermero en la contribución positiva al equipo, haciendo hincapié en la participación en capacitaciones y la provisión de información esencial. Consideraciones Finales: la experiencia del duelo afecta no solo la dinámica familiar, sino también el entorno social, evidenciando la urgencia de un enfoque más empático y comprensivo. El cuidado debe ser holístico, trascendiendo la asistencia técnica de enfermería, con un enfoque en el contexto biopsicosocial de los padres.


RESUMO Objetivos: identificar evidências científicas acerca do cuidado de enfermagem aos pais que vivenciaram o luto diante do óbito fetal. Métodos: revisão integrativa de estudos originais realizada em seis bases de dados e classificados quanto ao nível de evidência. Resultados: a análise qualitativa dos nove estudos que compuseram a amostra envolveu categorias temáticas, explorando o impacto da perda perinatal nas famílias, a comunicação inadequada por parte dos profissionais de saúde e a importância de uma abordagem holística na assistência. Destaca-se a importância do papel do enfermeiro na contribuição positiva para a equipe, enfatizando a participação em capacitações e o fornecimento de informações essenciais. Considerações Finais: a vivência do luto impacta não apenas a dinâmica familiar, mas o meio social, evidenciando a urgência de uma abordagem mais empática e compreensiva. O cuidado deve ocorrer de forma holística, transcendendo a assistência técnica de enfermagem, com abordagem do contexto biopsicossocial dos pais.

RESUMO

The synthesis of hydrophilic graphene-based yolk-shell magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with copolymer pluronic F-127 (GYSMNP@PF127) is herein reported to achieve an efficient multifunctional biomedical system for mild hyperthermia and stimuli-responsive drug delivery. In vitro tests revealed the extraordinary ability of GYSMNP@PF127 to act as smart stimuli-responsive multifunctional nanomedicine platform for cancer therapy, exhibiting (i) an outstanding loading capacity of 91% (w/w, representing 910 µg mg-1) of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin, (ii) a high heating efficiency under an alternating (AC) magnetic field (intrinsic power loss ranging from 2.1-2.7 nHm2 kg-1), and (iii) a dual pH and thermal stimuli-responsive drug controlled release (46% at acidic tumour pH vs 7% at physiological pH) under AC magnetic field, in just 30 min. Additionally, GYSMNP@PF127 presents optimal hydrodynamic diameter (DH = 180 nm) with negative surface charge, high haemocompatibility for blood stream applications and tumour cellular uptake of drug nanocarriers. Due to its physicochemical, magnetic and biocompatibility properties, the developed graphene-based magnetic nanocarrier shows high promise as dual exogenous (AC field)/endogenous (pH) stimuli-responsive actuators for targeted thermo-chemotherapy, combining magnetic hyperthermia and controlled drug release triggered by the abnormal tumour environment. The presented strategy and findings can represent a new way to design and develop highly stable added-value graphene-based nanostructures for the combined treatment of cancer.

The potato psyllid, Bactericera cockerelli (Sulc) (Hemiptera: Triozidae), had been known for nearly a century to cause psyllid yellows of solanaceous crops. However, it has only been a decade since the insect was discovered to transmit the bacterium 'Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum' (Lso), which putatively causes potato zebra chip disease. This project was initiated to quantify temporal incidences of haplotypes of the psyllid (Central, Southwestern, and Western) and Lso (A, B) in potato fields and in native vegetation. Psyllids were collected from native vegetation in Texas (2011-2014), and from potato fields in Texas and New Mexico (2014-2017). Psyllids were tested for Lso and haplotypes of both psyllid and Lso. In Texas, the Central psyllid haplotype was overwhelmingly dominant both in potato fields and in native vegetation regardless of location and time of collection. However, in New Mexico potato fields, although the Southwestern haplotype was overall dominant, the ratios of individual haplotypes varied among years and within a season. The Southwestern psyllid haplotype was greater in incidence than the Central early but declined later in the season in each of the 4 yr, while the Central haplotype was low in incidence early but increased over time. Lso was detected in all three psyllid haplotypes representing the first report in Southwestern psyllid haplotype. In Texas, Lso haplotype A was more frequently detected than B, but in New Mexico the incidence of positive psyllids was not high enough to make definitive conclusions regarding predominant Lso haplotype.

RESUMEN: 21. Con el software SLAB VIEW se realizaron modelaciones para determi nar cuantitativamente los riesgos hacia los trabajadores y comunidad por emisiones accidentales de gas licuado de petróleo, desde fuentes de uso y almacenamiento, dentro del radio urbano de Los Ángeles (Chile). Se modelaron 23 fuentes con categoría de riesgo grave, clase "C" y las 3 fuentes con categoría muy grave, clase "D", identificadas con la meto dología APELL, aplicada en el estudio de Silva et. al (2016). 22. 23. Se evaluó el comportamiento espacial y temporal de las fugas de gas para estanques identificados con capacidades de 2 m3, 4 m3, 11 m3 y 49 m3 utilizando promedios estacionales de variables meteorológicas consideradas en un periodo de evaluación de cinco años. Se utiliza ron variables de tiempo de fuga evaluando su comportamiento en 1, 3 y 5 minutos, con el fin de identificar las condiciones del peor escenario. Como resultado se obtiene que el comportamiento de la nube depende de la estabilidad atmosférica, siendo la condición esta ble donde concentraciones de interés permanecen por más tiempo alcanzando mayores distancias y que el peor escenario para una fuga son las bajas temperaturas y las condiciones atmosféricas estables. Como conclusión, puede establecerse que en la zona de estudio exis ten estanques que son potencialmente peligrosos por deflagración para trabajadores y la comunidad; sin embargo, los tiempos de expo sición no generan peligros por exposición aguda.


ABSTRACT: 28. With the SLAB VIEW software, modeling wasperformed to determine quantitatively the risks to workers and the community from acciden tal releases of liquefied petroleum gas, from sources use and storage, within the urban radius of Los Angeles (Chile). 23 sources with a severe risk category class "C" and the 3 very severe risk category class "D" identified with the APELL methodology, applied in the study by Silva et al. (2016), were modeled. 29. 30. The spatial and temporal behavior of the gas leaking for tanks iden tified with capacities of 2m3, 4m3, 11m3 and 49m3 were evaluated using seasonal averages of meteorological variables considered in a five - year evaluation period. Leakage time variables were used evaluating their behavior in 1, 3 and 5 minutes in order to identify worst-case conditions. As a result it is obtained that the behavior of the cloud depends on the atmospheric stability, being the stable condition where concentrations of interest remain longer reaching greater distances and that the worst scenario for a leak is the low temperatures and the stable atmospheric conditions. As a conclusion, it can be established that in the study area, there are ponds that are potentially dangerous due to deflagration for workers and the com munity, however, exposure times do not generate hazards due to acute exposure.

The degradation of ciprofloxacin was studied in aqueous solutions by using a continuous flow homogeneous photo-Fenton process under simulated solar light. The effect of different operating conditions on the degradation of ciprofloxacin was investigated by changing the hydrogen peroxide (0-2.50 mM) and iron(II) sulphate (0-10 mg Fe L(-1)) concentrations, as well as the pH (2.8-10), irradiance (0-750 W m(-2)) and residence time (0.13-3.4 min) of the process. As expected, the highest catalytic activity in steady state conditions was achieved at acidic pH (2.8), namely 85 % of ciprofloxacin conversion, when maintaining the other variables constant (i.e. 2.0 mg L(-1) of iron(II), 2.50 mM of hydrogen peroxide, 1.8 min of residence time and 500 W m(-2) of irradiance). Additionally, magnetite magnetic nanoparticles (ca. 20 nm of average particle size) were synthesized, characterized and tested as a possible catalyst for this reaction. In this case, the highest catalytic activity was achieved at natural pH, namely a 55 % average conversion of ciprofloxacin in 1.8 min of residence time and under 500 W m(-2). Some of the photocatalytic activity was attributed to Fe(2+) leaching from the magnetic nanoparticles to the solution.

In this experimental work the ozone action on the depuration of olive oil mill wastewater is studied for different operational conditions based on an actual industrial treatment plant. It was verified that the application of a Mn-Ce-O catalyst prepared at the laboratory, with a Mn/Ce molar proportion of 70/30, enhances the depuration efficiency and the effluent biodegradability. Ozonation operation at the natural pH of the effluent is recommended. Moreover, the integration of the Fenton process as a pretreatment improves the final chemical oxygen demand removal and enables a totally biodegradable effluent to be obtained, as confirmed by respirometric techniques.
