RESUMO

This study aimed to examine the role played by the physical literacy and mindfulness in the health-related quality of life (QoL) of college students. In early 2022, 24,236 college students from three universities in southern China were recruited in the study. R software and the lavvan package was utilized to build the structural equation model. The measurement model was composed of three latent factors (physical literacy, mindfulness, and quality of life) and 16 observed variables in total. The results of the measurement model indicated goodness fit with p > .05 in Chi-square result, and GFI = .92. In addition, the comparative fit index (.92), Tucker-Lewis index (.91), root-mean-square error of approximation (.07), and root of mean square residual (.11) were in accord with the cutoff model-fit criteria. The results confirm that physical literacy and mindfulness can play a significant and positive role in the structural equation model of quality of life. In addition, this study provides initial evidence that mindfulness and physical literacy could potentially buffer declines in student QoL during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, this study is the first to develop a structural equation model of QoL with multiple indicators, making it a strong addition to existing research on QoL during a pandemic.

RESUMO

Chronic wounds have become one of the major issues in medicine today, the treatments for which include dressing changes, negative pressure wound therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, light irradiation, surgery and so forth. Nevertheless, the application of diode lasers in chronic wounds has rarely been reported. This retrospective cohort study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic effect of diode laser (810 nm) irradiation on chronic wounds. Eighty-nine patients were enrolled in the study. The control group (41 patients) received traditional dressing change therapy, while the diode laser treatment group (48 patients) were patients received additional treatment with diode laser (810 nm) irradiation for 10 min at each dressing change. Wound healing time was compared between two groups, while the pain relief index was creatively introduced to evaluate the effect of relieving wound pain, which was calculated by the difference in pain scores between the first and last dressing changes divided by the number of treatment days. The wound healing time of the diode laser treatment group was 22.71 ± 8.99 days, which was significantly shorter than that of the control group (37.44 ± 23.42 days). The pain relief index of the diode laser treatment group was 0.081 ± 0.055, which was significantly increased compared with that of the control group (0.057 ± 0.033). Our findings suggest that diode laser irradiation has the potential to promote healing in chronic wounds and relieve wound pain.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the difference in the clinical efficacy on ankylosing spondylitis (AS) between the combined therapy of moxibustion along the governor vessel and the conception vessel and salazosulfapyridine (SASP) and the routine moxibustion. METHODS: Sixty-two patients of AS were randomized into two groups, 31 cases in each one with one case dnopping separately. In the two groups, SASP was prescribed for oral administration. In the observation group, the self-prepared moxa powder, ginger granules and moxa wool were placed on the back, from Dazhui (GV 14) to Yaoshu (GV 2) and on the abdomen, from the inferior of the xiphoid process to the upper border of symphsis pubis, covering the running of the governor vessel and the conception vessel. In the control group, the routine moxibustion therapy was used, in which, the moxa box was placed on the back and abdomen alternatively. Each treatment lasted 2 h, once every 7 days, 3 treatments as one session. After 3 sessions of treatment, the symptom score, visual analogue scale (VAS) score, time of morning stiffness, Schober test, occiput-to-wall distance and thoracic mobility were observed before and after treatment. The clinical efficacy was evaluated in the two groups. RESULTS: The total effective rate was 86.7% (26/30) in the observation group, better than 73.3% (22/30) in the control group. The efficacy in the observation group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05). All of the observation indices after treatment were improved apparently as compared with those before treatment in the two groups (all P<0.01). After treatment, the improvements in the symptom score, VAS score, time of morning stiffness and Schober test in the observation group were better apparently than those in the control group (all P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: On the basis of treatment with SASP, moxibustion along the governor vessel and the conception vessel achieves the definite efficacy on AS, better than the routine moxibustion therapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is an important and highly prevalent mental disorder characterized by anhedonia and a lack of interest in everyday activities. Additionally, patients with MDD appear to have deficits in various cognitive abilities. Although a number of studies investigating the central auditory processing of low-level sound features in patients with MDD have demonstrated that this population exhibits impairments in automatic processing, the influence of emotional voice processing has yet to be addressed. To explore the automatic processing of emotional prosodies in patients with MDD, we analyzed the ability to detect automatic changes using event-related potentials (ERPs). METHOD: This study included 18 patients with MDD and 22 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Subjects were instructed to watch a silent movie but to ignore the afferent acoustic emotional prosodies presented to both ears while continuous electroencephalographic activity was synchronously recorded. Prosodies included meaningless syllables, such as "dada" spoken with happy, angry, sad, or neutral tones. The mean amplitudes of the ERPs elicited by emotional stimuli and the peak latency of the emotional differential waveforms were analyzed. RESULTS: The sad MMN was absent in patients with MDD, whereas the happy and angry MMN components were similar across groups. The abnormal sad emotional MMN component was not significantly correlated with the HRSD-17 and HAMA scores, respectively. CONCLUSION: The data indicate that patients with MDD are impaired in their ability to automatically process sad prosody, whereas their ability to process happy and angry prosodies remains normal. The dysfunctional sad emotion-related MMN in patients with MDD were not correlated with depression symptoms. The blunted MMN of sad prosodies could be considered a trait of MDD.
