Zeolite synthesis under acidic conditions has always presented a challenge. In this study, we successfully prepared series of ZSM-5 zeolite nanosheets (Z-5-SCA-X) over a broad pH range (4 to 13) without the need for additional supplements. This achievement was realized through aggregation crystallization of ZSM-5 zeolite subcrystal (Z-5-SC) with highly short-range ordering and ultrasmall size extracted from the synthetic system of ZSM-5 zeolite. Furthermore, the crystallization behavior of Z-5-SC was investigated, revealing its non-classical crystallization process under mildly alkaline and acidic conditions (pH<10), and the combination of classical and non-classical processes under strongly alkaline conditions (pH≥10). What's particularly intriguing is that, the silanol nest content in the resultant Z-5-SCA-X samples appears to be dependent on the pH values during the Z-5-SC crystallization process rather than its crystallinity. Finally, the results of the furfuryl alcohol etherification reaction demonstrate that reducing the concentration of silanol nests significantly enhances the catalytic performance of the Z-5-SCA-X zeolite. The ability to synthesize zeolite in neutral and acidic environments without the additional mineralizing agents not only broadens the current view of traditional zeolite synthesis but also provides a new approach to control the silanol nest content of zeolite catalysts.

Both alien plant invasions and soil microplastic pollution have become a concerning threat for terrestrial ecosystems, with consequences on the human well-being. However, our current knowledge of microplastic effects on the successful invasion of plants remains limited, despite numerous studies demonstrating the direct and indirect impacts of microplastics on plant performance. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a greenhouse experiment involving the mixtures of soil and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) microplastic pellets and fragments at the concentrations of 0, 0.5 % and 2.0 %. Additionally, we included Solidago decurrens (native plant) and S. canadensis (alien invasive plant) as the target plants. Each pot contained an individual of either species, after six-month cultivation, plant biomass and antioxidant enzymes, as well as soil properties including soil moisture, pH, available nutrient, and microbial biomass were measured. Our results indicated that microplastic effects on soil properties and plant growth indices depended on the Solidago species, microplastic shapes and concentrations. For example, microplastics exerted positive effects on soil moisture of the soil with native species but negative effects with invasive species, which were impacted by microplastic shapes and concentrations, respectively. Microplastics significantly impacted catalase (P < 0.05) and superoxide dismutase (P < 0.01), aboveground biomass (P < 0.01), and belowground/aboveground biomass (P < 0.01) of the native species depending on microplastic shapes, but no significant effects on those of the invasive species. Furthermore, microplastics effects on soil properties, nutrient, nutrient ratio, and plant antioxidant enzyme activities contributed to plant biomass differently among these two species. These results suggested that the microplastics exerted a more pronounced impact on native Solidago plants than the invasive ones. This implies that the alien invasive species displays greater resistance to microplastic pollution, potentially promoting their invasion. Overall, our study contributes to a better understanding of the promoting effects of microplastic pollution on plant invasion.

Stress is an established risk factor for negative health outcomes. Salivary cortisol and testosterone concentrations increase in response to acute psychosocial stress. It's crucial to reduce stress for health and well-being through evidence-based interventions. Body-mind interventions such as meditation and Tai Chi have shown reduced cortisol levels but mixed results in testosterone concentration after stress. To address this research gap, we conducted a pilot randomized controlled trial to examine the modulating effects of a short-term (seven 20-minute sessions) mindfulness meditation on testosterone and cortisol in response to acute stress. Using one form of mindfulness meditation - Integrative Body-Mind Training (IBMT) and an active control-relaxation training (RT), we assessed salivary cortisol and testosterone concentrations at three stages of stress intervention - rest, stress, and an additional 20-min IBMT or RT practice. We found increased cortisol and testosterone concentrations after acute stress in both groups, but testosterone rise was not associated with cortisol rise. Moreover, an additional practice immediately after stress produced higher testosterone concentrations in the IBMT group than the RT group, whereas cortisol concentration increased in the RT group than in the IBMT group at the same time point. These findings indicate that brief mindfulness intervention modulates a dual-hormone profile of testosterone and cortisol in response to acute stress presumably via the co-regulation of hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal and hypothalamus-pituitary-testicular axes.

In China, cadmium (Cd) stress has a significant role in limiting the development and productivity of purple flowering stalks (Brassica campestris var. purpuraria). Exogenous selenium supplementation has been demonstrated in earlier research to mitigate the effects of Cd stress in a range of plant species; nevertheless, the physiological and molecular processes by which exogenous selenium increases vegetable shoots' resistance to Cd stress remain unclear. Purple flowering stalks (Brassica campestris var. purpuraria) were chosen as the study subject to examine the effects of treatment with sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) on the physiology and transcriptome alterations of cadmium stress. Purple flowering stalk leaves treated with exogenous selenium had higher glutathione content, photosynthetic capacity, and antioxidant enzyme activities compared to the leaves treated with Cd stress alone. Conversely, the contents of proline, soluble proteins, soluble sugars, malondialdehyde, and intercellular CO2 concentration tended to decrease. Transcriptome analysis revealed that 2643 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were implicated in the response of exogenous selenium treatment to Cd stress. The metabolic pathways associated with flavonoid production, carotenoid synthesis, glutathione metabolism, and glucosinolate biosynthesis were among those enriched in these differentially expressed genes. Furthermore, we discovered DEGs connected to the production route of glucosinolates. This work sheds fresh light on how purple flowering stalks' tolerance to cadmium stress is improved by exogenous selenium.

Melatonin, a pleiotropic small molecule, is employed in horticultural crops to delay senescence and preserve postharvest quality. In this study, 100 µM melatonin treatment delayed a decline in the color difference index h* and a*, maintaining the content of chlorophyll and carotenoids, thereby delaying the yellowing and senescence of Chinese kale. Transcriptome analysis unequivocally validates melatonin's efficacy in delaying leaf senescence in postharvest Chinese kale stored at 20 °C. Following a three-day storage period, the melatonin treatment group exhibited 1637 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) compared to the control group. DEG analysis elucidated that melatonin-induced antisenescence primarily governs phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, lipid metabolism, plant signal transduction, and calcium signal transduction. Melatonin treatment up-regulated core enzyme genes associated with general phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, and the α-linolenic acid biosynthesis pathway. It influenced the redirection of lignin metabolic flux, suppressed jasmonic acid and abscisic acid signal transduction, and concurrently stimulated auxin signal transduction. Additionally, melatonin treatment down-regulated RBOH expression and up-regulated genes encoding CaM, thereby influencing calcium signal transduction. This study underscores melatonin as a promising approach for delaying leaf senescence and provides insights into the mechanism of melatonin-mediated antisenescence in postharvest Chinese kale.

Traditional mindfulness interventions have been frequently reported to be effective in improving cognitive functions. In recent years, however, traditional programs are being increasingly replaced by technology-enabled mindfulness training programs. The aim of the present systematic review (PROSPERO ID: CRD42021289480) is to evaluate the research evidence on their effects on cognitive functions. Empirical training studies in the realm of digital mindfulness training that fulfilled the inclusion criteria led to 19 studies and 1654 participants being included in this review from among the papers searched in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Knowledge. Results support previous assumptions on the potential of digital mindfulness training, with the most robust effect on attention control, followed by executive regulation, memory, cognitive flexibility, and other cognitive functions. However, the number of studies that did not find significant changes at least equaled, if not exceeded, the number of studies that found increases. The heterogeneity of identified studies prompted us to discuss several aspects in order to help the future development of digital applications.

Based on summarizing the essential procedures and elements of traditional manipulation techniques of warming needle moxibustion and determining the quantitative parameters and indicators for evaluating the operation of this acupuncture technique, a training instrument of warming needle moxibustion was developed and adopted in the curriculum teaching of practice. It showed that this instrument could quantify the speed of fixing mugwort ball on the needle handle, the number of the prepared mugwort ball, the duration for anti-vibration, the frequency of anti-vibration and the burning time of mugwort ball. The instrument could objectively evaluate the skills of warming needle moxibustion and the effects of fixing mugwort ball. Besides, it may provide the references to improve the protocol of the future research. The development and application of the practical training instrument of warming needle moxibustion is conductive to cultivate the standardization and accuracy of the technique operation in students, and it is significant for objectif-ying the teaching course of warming needle and teaching assessment, as well as for diversifying the teaching modes. Moreover, it plays an exemplary role in the practical training of other acupuncture and moxibustion techniques.

Background: Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common benign tumors in women of reproductive age. The most effective treatment is myomectomy, but there is no long-term or low-invasive treatment option exists. Acupuncture can be used to treat UFs in a variety of ways. However, there is no meta-analytic synthesis including valid data that explored the efficacy of acupuncture for UFs. Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for treating UFs. Methods: The PRISMA 2020 checklist was used. We identified and extracted the trials through may 2023 from six databases. The quality of the trials was assessed using the risk of bias (2.0). Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software, and it was synthesized using the random-effects model if the included studies were in high heterogeneity. Subgroup and sensitivity analysis were used if necessary. Results: A total of 1,035 trials were identified, of which 11 were included in the review and meta-analysis. In terms of acupuncture scheme design and fibroid-related symptoms, the trials are highly heterogeneous. All 11 trials have reported acupuncture types, with traditional acupuncture and electroacupuncture being the more representative subgroups. A qualitative review of existing evidence shows that acupuncture has no serious adverse reaction on UFs. Meta-analysis shows that acupuncture can effectively reduce the volume of UFs (MD - 3.89, 95% CI - 5.23 to - 2.56, P < 0.00001) or uterine volume (MD - 16.22, 95% CI - 19.89 To - 12.55, p < 0.00001), reduce the score of fibroid symptoms (MD - 3.03, 95% CI - 3.45 to - 2.60, p < 0.00001), improve the treatment efficiency (RR: 0.19, 95% CI: 0.13 to 0.25, p < 0.00001), and likely do not affect the estrogen level.

The yellowing of leaves due to iron deficiency is a prevalent issue in peach production. Although the capacity of exogenous melatonin (MT) to promote iron uptake in peach plants has been demonstrated, its underlying mechanism remains ambiguous. This investigation was carried out to further study the effects of exogenous MT on the iron absorption and transport mechanisms of peach (Prunus persica) plants under iron-deficient conditions through transcriptome sequencing. Under both iron-deficient and iron-supplied conditions, MT increased the content of photosynthetic pigments in peach leaves and decreased the concentrations of pectin, hemicellulose, cell wall iron, pectin iron, and hemicellulose iron in peach plants to a certain extent. These effects stemmed from the inhibitory effect of MT on the polygalacturonase (PG), cellulase (Cx), phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL), and cinnamoyl-coenzyme A reductase (CCR) activities, as well as the promotional effect of MT on the cinnamic acid-4-hydroxylase (C4H) activity, facilitating the reactivation of cell wall component iron. Additionally, MT increased the ferric-chelate reductase (FCR) activity and the contents of total and active iron in various organs of peach plants under iron-deficient and iron-supplied conditions. Transcriptome analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) linked to iron metabolism in MT-treated peach plants were primarily enriched in the aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis pathway under iron-deficient conditions. Furthermore, MT influenced the expression levels of these DEGs, regulating cell wall metabolism, lignin metabolism, and iron translocation within peach plants. Overall, the application of exogenous MT promotes the reactivation and reutilization of iron in peach plants.

BACKGROUND: Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury involves inflammatory necrosis of liver cells as a significant pathological mechanism. Catapol possesses anti-inflammatory activity that is extracted from the traditional Chinese medicine, Rehmannia glutinosa. METHODS: The liver function and histopathology, Oxidative stress, and aseptic inflammatory responses were assessed in vivo, and the strongest dose group was selected. For mechanism, the expression of miR-410-3p, HMGB1, and TLR-4/NF-κB signaling pathways was detected. The dual luciferase assay can verify the targeting relationship between miR-410-3p and HMGB1. Knockdown of miR-410-3p in L02 cells is applied in interference experiments. RESULTS: CAT pre-treatment significantly decreased the liver function markers alanine and aspartate aminotransferases and reduced the areas of hemorrhage and necrosis induced by hepatic I/R injury. Additionally, it reduced the aseptic inflammatory response and oxidative stress, with the strongest protective effect observed in the high-dose CAT group. Mechanistically, CAT downregulates HMGB1, inhibits TLR-4/NF-κB signaling pathway activation, and reduces inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, and IL-1ß. In addition, the I/R-induced downregulation of microRNA-410-3p was inhibited by CAT pre-treatment in vivo and in vitro. HMGB1 was identified as a potential target of microRNA-410-3p using a dual-luciferase reporter assay. Knockdown of microRNA-410-3p abolished the inhibitory effect of CAT on HMGB1, p-NF-κB, and p-IκB-α protein expression. CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that CAT pre-treatment has a protective effect against hepatic I/R injury in rats. Specifically, CAT attenuates the aseptic inflammatory response to hepatic I/R injury in vivo and in vitro by inhibiting the HMGB1/TLR-4/NF-κB signaling pathway via the microRNA-410-3p.

Imaging-guided chemodynamic therapy is widely considered a promising modality for personalized and precision cancer treatment. Combining both imaging and chemodynamic functions in one system conventionally relies on the hybrid materials approach. However, the heterogeneous, ill-defined, and dissociative/disintegrative nature of the composites tends to complicate their action proceedings in biological environments and thus makes the treatment imprecise and ineffective. Herein, a strategy to employ two kinds of inorganic units with different functions─reactive oxygen species generation and characteristic emission─has achieved two single-crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), demonstrating the competency of reticular chemistry in creating multifunctional materials with atomic precision. The multinary MOFs could not only catalyze the transformation from H2O2 to hydroxyl radicals by utilizing the redox-active Cu-based units but also emit characteristic tissue-penetrating near-infrared luminescence brought by the Yb4 clusters in the scaffolds. Dual functions of MOF nanoparticles are further evidenced by pronounced cell imaging signals, elevated intracellular reactive oxygen species levels, significant cell apoptosis, and reduced cell viabilities when they are taken up by the HeLa cells. In vivo NIR imaging is demonstrated after the MOF nanoparticles are further functionalized. The independent yet interconnected modules in the intact MOFs could operate concurrently at the same cellular site, achieving a high spatiotemporal consistency. Overall, our work suggests a new method to effectively accommodate both imaging and therapy functions in one well-defined material for precise treatment.

Nanozymes are artificial enzymes that mimic natural enzyme-like activities and exhibit tremendous potential for tumor chemodynamic therapy. However, the development of novel nanozymes with superior catalytic activities for nanotheranostics remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we report a facile synthesis of monodisperse palladium nanosheets (Pd nanosheets) and their assembly on graphene oxide (GO) that enhances the catalytic activities of Pd nanoparticles. Simultaneously, the obtained nanocomposites (rGO-Pd) could be applied as a smart near-infrared (NIR) light-responsive nanotheranostic for near infrared imaging-guided chemodynamic/photothermal combined therapy. Notably, rGO-Pd exhibited high peroxidase mimicking activities, which could catalyze the conversion of intratumoral H2O2 to ˙OH. Impressively, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation of rGO-Pd was further remarkably enhanced by the endogenous acidity of the tumor microenvironment and the exogenous NIR light-responsive photothermal effect. These collective properties of the rGO-Pd nanozyme enabled it to be a ROS generation accelerator for photothermally enhanced tumor chemodynamic therapy. Thus, the as-developed rGO-Pd may represent a promising new type of high-performance nanozyme for multifunctional nanotheranostics toward cancer.

A user-friendly teaching software for visual analysis of acupoint compatibility laws has been developed based on the principles of partial order mathematics. This software is designed to provide auxiliary teaching of structured organization and visualization of law knowledge of compatibility data of acupuncture and moxibustion prescriptions from ancient texts, textbooks, and clinical case records. The software is installed as a plugin in the Microsoft Office Excel, allowing the generation of visually appealing graphs and associated rules that align with the cognitive patterns of teachers and students majoring in acupuncture and moxibustion. Its aim is to facilitate the discovery and analysis of underlying patterns and structured knowledge embedded in acupoint compatibility data, thus contributing to the enhancement of teaching effectiveness in acupoint compatibility.

Black ginseng is a new type of processed ginseng that is traditionally used in herbal medicine in East Asian countries. It is prepared from fresh, white, or red ginseng by undergoing a process of steaming and drying several times. However, the chemical differentiation of black ginseng with different processing levels is not well understood. The aim of this study was to propose a new method for discriminating and quantifying black ginseng. Six ginsenosides from black ginseng were accurately quantified, and based on this, the black ginseng samples were divided into incomplete and complete black ginseng. Ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight/mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) combined with a multivariate statistical analysis strategy was then employed to differentiate the two groups. A total of 141 ions were selected as analytical markers of black ginseng, with 45 of these markers being annotated by matching precise m/z and MS/MS data from prior studies.

BACKGROUND: Cardiometabolic disease is a clinical syndrome characterized by multiple metabolic disorders, with atherosclerosis as the core and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events as the outcome. Drug research and development (R&D) in cardiometabolic diseases has grown rapidly worldwide. However, the development of cardiometabolic drug clinical trials in China remains unclear. This study aims to depict the changing landscape of drug clinical trials for cardiometabolic diseases in China during 2009-2021. METHODS: The detailed information of drug trials on cardiometabolic diseases registered in the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Registration and Information Disclosure Platform was collected between January 1, 2009, and July 1, 2021. The landscape of cardiometabolic drug clinical trials was analyzed by the characteristics, time trends, indications, pharmacological mechanisms, and geographical distribution. RESULTS: A total of 2466 drug clinical trials on cardiometabolic diseases were extracted and analyzed. The annual number of drug trials increased rapidly in the past twelve years. Among all the trials, the bioequivalence trials (1428; 58.3%) accounted for the largest proportion, followed by phase I (555; 22.5%), phase III (278; 11.3%), phase II (169; 6.9%), and phase IV (26; 1.1%). Of 2466 trials, 2133 (86.5%) trials were monomer drugs, only 236 (9.6%) trials were polypills and 97 (3.9%) were traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compounds. In terms of pharmacological mechanisms, the number of trials in dihydropyridine (DHP) calcium antagonists 321 (11.9%) ranked first, while trials in angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) 289 (10.7%) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor 205 (7.6%) ranked second and third place respectively. Of 236 chemical polypills trials, 23 (9.7%) polypills were the combination of DHP calcium antagonists and statins, while others were the combination of two same pharmacological effect agents. As for the geographical distribution of leading units, 36 trials were led by principal investigators (PI) units from Beijing, followed by Jiangsu (n = 29), Shanghai (n = 19), Guangdong (n = 19), and Hunan (n = 19), showing an uneven regional distribution. CONCLUSIONS: Great progress has been made in drug clinical trials on cardiometabolic diseases, especially in antihypertensive agents, hypoglycemic agents, and hypolipidemic agents. However, the insufficient innovation of first-in-class drugs and polypills should be carefully considered by all stakeholders in drug trials.

Viburnum luzonicum Rolfe is widely used in China as folk medicine. The bioactivity evaluation indicated that the n-BuOH fraction of V. luzonicum leaves (VLLB) could significantly inhibit α­amylase and α-glucosidase. In order to clarify its active constituents, the phytochemical analysis on VLLB was first performed using HPLC-QTOF-MS/MS, and three new phenolic compounds, viburosides A-C (1-3), along with seven known analogues (4-10) were isolated through preparative HPLC. The undescribed compounds were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses (1H and 13C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, HRESIMS, and ORD) and enzymatic hydrolysis. In the in vitro enzyme assays, compounds 1-8 showed potent α­amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. The enzymatic kinetics and molecular docking of the strongest inhibitors 2 and 3 against the corresponding target enzyme were also performed.

Selenium is one of the most basic trace elements in the human body. It is necessary to improve the selenium content in agricultural products through agricultural planting technology to ensure that human nutrition and health need selenium. Therefore, our research passed the effect of intercropping on the growth and selenium accumulation of pakchoi, lettuce and radish were studied through pot experiments to determine whether intercropping of the three crop species can improve their selenium accumulation ability. The results showed that intercropping increased the root and shoot biomass of pakchoi and radish compared with the monocultures, while the biomass of roots and shoots decreased in other intercropping combinations. Intercropping also affected the photosynthetic pigment content of the three crop species. Specifically, the photosynthetic pigments increased in pakchoi and decreased in radish after intercropping. Notably, intercropping the three crop species together increased the SOD (superoxide dismutase) activities of the three crops compared with the monocultures. Meanwhile, intercropping radish with lettuce significantly increased the activities of SOD and CAT (catalase) in radish. Intercropping also increased the soluble sugar content in pakchoi and soluble protein content of radish relative to the monocultures. Furthermore, intercropping decreased the selenium content and the bioconcentration factor of the roots of the three vegetable crops, but improved the shoot selenium content, the bioconcentration factor and the transport factor of Se in pakchoi and radish. In conclusion, intercropping combination of pakchoi and radish can improve selenium accumulation in the edible parts of the crops, which is significant for efficient production of selenium-enriched vegetables.


This research is significant because this study provides some basis for improving the selenium content of plants and efficient production of pakchoi and radish. Under the condition of selenium application in soil, the intercropping of pakchoi and lettuce can promote the growth of both and improve their selenium enrichment ability.

RESUMO

A user-friendly teaching software for visual analysis of acupoint compatibility laws has been developed based on the principles of partial order mathematics. This software is designed to provide auxiliary teaching of structured organization and visualization of law knowledge of compatibility data of acupuncture and moxibustion prescriptions from ancient texts, textbooks, and clinical case records. The software is installed as a plugin in the Microsoft Office Excel, allowing the generation of visually appealing graphs and associated rules that align with the cognitive patterns of teachers and students majoring in acupuncture and moxibustion. Its aim is to facilitate the discovery and analysis of underlying patterns and structured knowledge embedded in acupoint compatibility data, thus contributing to the enhancement of teaching effectiveness in acupoint compatibility.

OBJECTIVE: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a novel treatment option for vitiligo. PRP has been reported to be effective in combination with 308-nm excimer laser therapy, but there is no consensus on their combination use. Therefore, this meta-analysis assessed the efficacy and safety of the combination regimen in patients with vitiligo compared with laser therapy alone. METHODS: The meta-analysis was performed by searching PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang to identify relevant publications published through 1 February 2022. RESULTS: Six studies involving 302 patients were included. Compared with phototherapy alone, combination treatment with PRP and 308-nm excimer laser therapy significantly improved the total response rate and reduced the no response rate. Additionally, the proportions of patients with repigmentation rates of ≥75%, ≥50%, and ≥25% were significantly higher in the combination group than in the monotherapy group. In addition, the rates of adverse events for combination therapy were comparable to those for laser therapy alone, and the recurrence rates were low. CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis provided evidence supporting the combined use of PRP and 308-nm excimer laser therapy as a valuable treatment modality for patients with vitiligo based on its superiority to monotherapy.

Pulmonary fibrosis is common in the development of inflammatory lung diseases with no effective clinical drug treatment currently. As an essential redox enzyme, thioredoxin (Trx) has been reported to be involved in pulmonary fibrosis, but the mechanism is to be revealed. Therefore, in bleomycin-indued pulmonary fibrosis model in C57 mice, Trx activity and nitrated Trx were examined.,p38-MAPK apoptosis pathway was determined in lung tissues. Additionally, before BLM administration, C57/BL6 mice were treated with aminoguanidine (AG, a peroxynitrite scavenger), recombinant human Trx-1 (rhTrx-1), or SIN-1 (a peroxynitrite donor) nitrated Trx-1 (N-Trx-1). In bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary fibrosis model in C57/BL6 mice, we observed that nitrated Trx increased, while its activity decreased, with the increase of alveolar epithelial cells (AECs)apoptosis by p38-MAPK pathway. We demonstrated that AG or rhTrx-1, but not N-Trx-1 significantly reduced pulmonary fibrosis. Taken together, the results above revealed that blockade of Trx-1 nitration, or supplementation of exogenous rhTrx-1, might represent novel therapies to attenuate pulmonary fibrosis in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis patients.
