RESUMO

Green onion (Allium fistulosum L.) is a perennial herb with a characteristic allium aroma. Meanwhile, fried green onion oil has a rich flavor that is popular in traditional Chinese cuisine. In this work, the key aroma components of fried green onion oil were focused via flavoromics analysis. The oil samples had a low score of a green aroma but a high score of salty, greasy aromas. Whereafter, a total of 36 aroma-active substances with flavor dilution (FD) factors ranging from 1 to 6561 were identified in fried green onion oil, while 42 were detected in fried green onion residue with FD factors ranging from 1 to 19683. Additionally, the recombination and omission tests revealed that furaneol, dimethyl trisulfide, allyl methyl trisulfide, (E,E)-2,4-decadienal, etc., were the key aroma compounds in fried green onion oil. Furthermore, the observation of the reaction of thioethers at high temperatures revealed that dimethyl disulfide undergoes polymerization to form dimethyl trisulfide. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the standardization and industrial production of Chinese cuisine.

RESUMO

Nanohybrids have gained immense popularity for the diagnosis and chemotherapy of lung cancer for their excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and targeting ability. However, most of them suffer from limited imaging information, low tumor-to-background ratios, and multidrug resistance, limiting their potential clinical application. Herein, we engineered a photoresponsive nanohybrid by assembling polypyrrole@bovine serum albumin (PPy@BSA) encapsulating perfluoropentane (PFP)/129Xe for selective magnetic resonance (MR)/ultrasonic (US)/photoacoustic (PA) trimodal imaging and photothermal therapy of lung cancer, overcoming these drawbacks of single imaging modality and chemotherapy. The nanohybrid exhibited superior US, PA, and MR multimodal imaging performance for lung cancer detection. The high sensitivity of the nanohybrid to near-infrared light (NIR) resulted in a rapid increase in temperature in a low-intensity laser state, which initiated the phase transition of liquid PFP into the gas. The ultrasound signal inside the tumor, which is almost zero initially, is dramatically increased. Beyond this, it led to the complete depression of 19F/129Xe Hyper-CEST (chemical exchange saturation transfer) MRI during laser irradiation, which can precisely locate lung cancer. In vitro and in vivo results of the nanohybrid exhibited a successful therapeutic effect on lung cancer. Under the guidance of imaging results, a sound effect of photothermal therapy (PTT) for lung cancer was achieved. We expect this nanohybrid and photosensitive behavior will be helpful as fundamental tools to decipher lung cancer in an earlier stage through trimodality imaging methods.

RESUMO

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), a common plant worldwide, is used as both a medicine and food. Fermentation is a food processing technology that has many advantages, such as low energy cost, changes in product characteristics, and enhanced product quality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of solid-state fermentation (SSF) on the content, composition and antioxidant activity of dandelion flavonoids. Response surface methodology was used to optimize dandelion fermentation conditions. Under optimized conditions, the maximum flavone concentration was 66.05 ± 1.89 mg/g. The flavonoid content of the crude extract from fermented dandelion (FDF) was 183.72 ± 2.24 mg/g. The flavonoid compounds in the crude extracts were further identified by UPLC-ESI-MS/MS. A total of 229 flavonoid compounds were identified, and 57 differential flavonoids (including 27 upregulated and 30 downregulated flavonoids) between FDF and the crude extract of unfermented dandelion (DF) were observed, of which 25 were annotated to metabolic pathways. FDF displayed superior antioxidant activity to that of DF in in vitro DPPH radical-scavenging and reducing power assays. The favorable results of our investigation could provide a new way for the exploitation and utilization of dandelion, which could be promising for its application as an antioxidant and functional food additive with flavonoids as ingredients.

RESUMO

Treatment of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSSs) and facilitation of posttraumatic growth (PTG) are two encouraging areas of research, yet little is understood about the relationships between dispositional mindfulness, PTSSs, and PTG. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether PTSSs is correlated with PTG among breast cancer patients in China and explore the role of mindfulness in this relationship. A sample of 202 Chinese breast cancer patients voluntarily participated in the study by completing a set of questionnaires. The results revealed that PTSSs were significantly positively correlated with PTG. Structural equation modeling showed that mindfulness did not moderate but mediated the relation between PTSSs and PTG. These findings indicate that breast cancer patients with higher mindfulness may recover from PTSSs through a different process. Posttraumatic growth may not be the only positive indicator of posttraumatic individuals.

RESUMO

Bromodomains are key transcriptional regulators that are thought to be druggable epigenetic targets for cancer, inflammation, diabetes and cardiovascular therapeutics. Of particular importance is the first of two bromodomains in bromodomain containing 4 protein (BRD4(1)). Protein-ligand docking in BRD4(1) was used to purchase a small, focused screening set of compounds possessing a large variety of core structures. Within this set, a small number of weak hits each contained a dihydroquinoxalinone ring system. We purchased other analogs with this ring system and further validated the new hit series and obtained improvement in binding inhibition. Limited exploration by new analog synthesis showed that the binding inhibition in a FRET assay could be improved to the low µM level making this new core a potential hit-to-lead series. Additionally, the predicted geometries of the initial hit and an improved analog were confirmed by X-ray co-crystallography with BRD4(1).

RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: The present study identified some new important genomic regions and demonstrated the availability of conditional analysis in dissecting QTLs induced by environmental factors. The high input and low use efficiency of nutrient fertilizers require knowledge of the genetic control of crop reaction to nutrient supplements. In this study, 14 morphological and 8 physiological traits of a set of 182 wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) recombinant inbred lines (Xiaoyan 54 × Jing 411) were investigated in six environments to map quantitative trait loci (QTLs). The influence of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) fertilization on QTL expression was studied by unconditional and conditional analysis. A total of 117 and 30 QTLs were detected by unconditional and conditional analysis, respectively, among which 21 were common for both methods. Thirty-four QTL clusters were identified. Eighteen conserved QTLs (15.4 % of the 117 QTLs) between years, but within nutritional treatment were found. The three major QTLs on chromosomes 2D, 4B and 6A were coincident with Rht8, Rht-B1b and TaGW2, respectively. The other two important intervals on chromosomes 4B and 7A for yield component traits were newly detected QTLs that warrant further study. By conditional analysis, spikelet number per spike was found to be induced by P fertilization mostly, whereas N fertilization had more effects on the expression of the QTLs for nitrogen concentration and utilization efficiency traits. QTLs that respond to N and P interactions were also detected. The results are helpful for understanding the genetic basis of N utilization efficiency in wheat under different N and P supplement environments and provide evidence for the availability of conditional analysis in dissecting QTLs induced by environmental factors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the growth of Glycyrrhiza uralensis under different planting density for providing theoretic evidence for reasonable planting density. METHOD: The field experiment was designed by single factor randomized block. RESULT: The plant height, root diameter, main root length and branches of main stem were all decreased with increasing planting density of G. uralensis. Meanwhile, dry matter accumulation on root, leaf, aerial part and rhizome were all decreased with increasing planting density. CONCLUSION: Two hundred and seventy thousand plants/hm2 was feasible planting density.
