RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Music therapy (MT) has received increasing attention from scholars in the efficacy treatment of anxiety symptoms, which is of great significance to human physical and mental health. The visual mapping functionality of CiteSpace and Vosviewer software was applied in this study to assess the status of MT in the treatment of anxiety symptoms. METHODS: In order to find research on MT and anxiety that were relevant for this research, we searched the Web of Science database. We also utilized CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to examine institutions, journals, authors, publications, and keywords for scientometric and visual analysis. RESULTS: Our findings show that since 2009, the field has developed rapidly and publications on MT and anxiety have gradually increased. The journal Complement Therapies In Medicine published the most relevant articles, the Cochrane Database Of Systematic Reviews journal had the highest citation frequency, and the United States had the most publications. The majority of the top academic institutions in the region are found in the United States, with the University of London having the most publications. The evolution of this field was significantly influenced by Gold C., the author with the most publications, and Bradt J., the author with the most co-citations. The topics of anxiety, nursing, cancer, and pain management have been the focus of this research. CONCLUSION: This study has the potential to increase public understanding of MT and anxiety as well as mental health awareness, all of which are crucial for lowering the prevalence of mental diseases.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of acupuncture at Sifeng for pediatric anorexia. METHODS: The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture at Sifeng for pediatric anorexia from their beginning to October 2022 were looked up in the seven databases. The Cochrane risk of bias evaluation tool was applied to the risk of bias analysis of the included studies. A meta-analysis of the total efficiency, score of food intake reduction, time to normalize food intake, body weight, leptin levels, and blood zinc levels was performed using Review Manager 5.3 software. The GRADE criteria were applied to assess the evidence's quality. RESULTS: A total of 24 RCTs were included, involving 2202 children. The allocation of concealment, blinding, and selective reporting has a high or unclear risk of bias. All experiments compared acupuncture at Sifeng with traditional Chinese medicine or Western medicine. The results showed that, compared with medicine, acupuncture at Sifeng could significantly improve the total efficiency (OR=6.44, 95%CI [4.78,8.66]), lower the score of food intake reduction (MD=-0.69, 95%CI [-1.00, -0.39]), decrease leptin levels (MD=-5.19, 95%CI [-8.09, -2.29]) and time to normal food intake (MD=-2.22, 95%CI [-2.42, -2.01]), increase blood zinc (MD=0.79, 95%CI [0.21, 1.37]) and body weight (MD=1.28, 95%CI [0.85, 1.72]). Seven studies found that the treatment was safe both during and after. Based on the GRADE criteria, the quality of the evidence for the majority of indicators was extremely poor. CONCLUSION: The low certainty of evidence suggested that acupuncture at Sifeng was effective and safe in the therapy of pediatric anorexia. Future high-quality clinical studies are needed to provide more reliable evidence of the effectiveness and safety of the therapy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the effect of dynamic scalp acupuncture combined with task-oriented mirror therapy (TOMT) for upper limb motor function and activity ability of daily living in patients with hemiplegia after ischemic stroke.@*METHODS@#Seventy-eight patients with hemiplegia after ischemic stroke were randomly divided into a dynamic scalp acupuncture group, a TOMT group, and a scalp acupuncture group, 26 cases in each group (1 case dropped off in the TOMT group and the scalp acupuncture group respectively). All three groups received routine rehabilitation training and medication treatment. The TOMT group was treated with TOMT for 40 min a day, 5 days a week for 8 weeks. The scalp acupuncture group was treated with TOMT after the scalp acupuncture, and the dynamic scalp acupuncture group was treated with TOMT during the scalp acupuncture treatment. The scalp acupuncture treatment was applied at ipsilateral up 1/5 and mid 2/5 of and , and the needles were retained for 40 min. The scalp acupuncture treatment was given once a day, 5 days a week for 8 weeks. Before treatment and after 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment, the functions of upper limb and hand were evaluated by simplified Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) scale upper limb part and functional test for the hemiplegic upper extremity-Hong Kong version (FTHUE-HK) grade, the muscle tension of the upper extremity flexor elbow muscle group was assessed by modified Ashworth scale (MAS) and the activity ability of daily living was assessed by modified Barthel index (MBI).@*RESULTS@#After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment, the FMA scores, FTHUE-HK grades and MBI scores in the three groups were better than those before treatment (<0.01, <0.05), and MAS scores after 4 weeks of treatment in the three groups were better than those before treatment (<0.05). After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment, the FMA scores, FTHUE-HK grades and MBI scores in the dynamic scalp acupuncture group were better than those in the TOMT group and the scalp acupuncture group (<0.05), and these items in the scalp acupuncture group were better than those in the TOMT group (<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The dynamic scalp acupuncture combined with TOMT treatment can effectively improve the upper limb function and the activities ability of daily living in patients with hemiplegia after ischemic stroke, which is better than TOMT after scalp acupuncture and simple TOMT treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although it is crucial to improve the treatment status of people with severe mental illness (SMI), it is still unknown whether and how socioeconomic development influences their treatment status.AimsTo explore the change in treatment status in people with SMI from 1994 to 2015 in rural China and to examine the factors influencing treatment status in those with SMI. METHOD: Two mental health surveys using identical methods and ICD-10 were conducted in 1994 and 2015 (population ≥15 years old, n = 152 776) in the same six townships of Xinjin County, Chengdu, China. RESULTS: Compared with 1994, individuals with SMI in 2015 had significantly higher rates of poor family economic status, fewer family caregivers, longer duration of illness, later age at first onset and poor mental status. Participants in 2015 had significantly higher rates of never being treated, taking antipsychotic drugs and ever being admitted to hospital, and lower rates of using traditional Chinese medicine or being treated by traditional/spiritual healers. The factors strongly associated with never being treated included worse mental status (symptoms/social functioning), older age, having no family caregivers and poor family economic status. CONCLUSIONS: Socioeconomic development influences the treatment status of people with SMI in contemporary rural China. Relative poverty, having no family caregivers and older age are important factors associated with a worse treatment status. Culture-specific, community-based interventions and targeted poverty-alleviation programmes should be developed to improve the early identification, treatment and recovery of individuals with SMI in rural China.Declaration of interestNone.

RESUMO

The aim of this paper was to systematically evaluate the toxicity-reducing effect of Tripterygium-licorice in animal experiments, and also to provide evidence for basic research on the toxicity reduction of Tripterygium wilfordii. The PubMed,EMbase,Web of Science,CBM,CNKI and Wan Fang Databases from their establishment to August 31 th,2018 were searched. Two independent reviewers screened the papers, extracted the data, assessed the risk of bias using SYRCLE assessment tool and conducted Meta-analysis with Rev Man 5. 3 software. A total of 10 papers involving 31 studies were finally included,15 studies of which were used for Meta-analysis. Four studies were included for chronic hepatotoxicity animal model. In experimental group( 34 animals),Tripterygium was administered at dose of 0. 09-0. 1 mg·kg-1·d-1,and glycyrrhizic acid was administered at dose of 90-100 mg·kg-1,both for 2 weeks; in control group( 34 animals),glycyrrhizic acid was replaced with equal volume of normal saline. Eleven studies were included for acute hepatotoxicity animal model. In experimental group( 66 animals),glycyrrhizic acid was administered at dose of 75-480 mg·kg-1 for 7 days, then glycyrrhizic acid was stopped, and Tripterygium began to be administered at dose of 0. 6-1. 0 mg·kg-1 per 24 h or 48 h for a total of 1-2 times; in control group( 66 animals),glycyrrhizic acid was replaced with equal volume of normal saline or corresponding solvent. The results of Meta-analysis showed that in both chronic hepatotoxicity animal model and acute hepatotoxicity animal model, the transaminase levels in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group( P < 0. 05). Subgroup analysis of acute hepatotoxicity animal model showed that the transaminase levels in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group for every subgroup except " glycyrrhizic acid 75 mg·kg-1" subgroup. However,in terms of the mean difference( MD) and confidence interval( CI),there was no significant difference in transaminase decline between each subgroup. Low dose of glycyrrhizic acid( 90-100 mg·kg-1) has a toxicity-reduction effect on chronic hepatotoxicity induced by tripterygium( 0. 09-0. 10 mg·kg-1). Middle and high doses of glycyrrhizic acid( 120-480 mg·kg-1) have a toxicity-reduction effect on acute hepatotoxicity induced by tripterygium( 0. 6-1. 0 mg·kg-1),but with no significant dose-effect relationship.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease featured by memory loss, neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. Overproduction or insufficient clearance of Aß leads to its pathological aggregation and deposition, which is considered the predominant neuropathological hallmark of AD. Therefore, reducing Aß levels and inhibiting Aß-induced neurotoxicity are feasible therapeutic strategies for AD treatment. Wolfberry has been traditionally used as a natural antioxidant and anti-aging product. However, whether wolfberry species has therapeutic potential on AD remains unknown. METHOD: The effects of fruitless wolfberry-sprout extract (FWE) on Aß fibrillation and fibril disaggregation was measured by thioflavin T fluorescence and transmission electron microscope imaging; Aß oligomer level was determined by dot-blot; Cell viability and apoptosis was assessed by MTT and TUNEL assay. The levels of Aß40/42, oxidative stress biomarkers and inflammatory cytokines were detected by corresponding kits. 8-month-old male APP/PS1 mice and their age-matched WT littermates were treated with FWE or vehicle by oral administration (gavage) once a day for 4 weeks. Then the cognitive performance was determined using object recognition test and Y-maze test. The Aß burden and gliosis was evaluated by immunostaining and immunoblotting, respectively. RESULTS: FWE significantly inhibited Aß fibrillation and disaggregated the formed Aß fibrils, lowered Aß oligomer level and Aß-induced neuro-cytotoxicity, and attenuated oxidative stress in vitro. Oral administration of FWE remarkably improved cognitive function, reduced Aß burden, decreased gliosis and inflammatory cytokines release, and ameliorated oxidative stress in the brains of APP/PS1 mice. CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that FWE is a promising natural agent for AD treatment.

RESUMO

Gindenosides are the active ingredients of Panax ginseng. 20 (S) -protopanaxadiolocotillol type epimers are the main metabolites of 20 (S) -protopanaxadiol. The previous studies showed that there are stereoselectivity difference in pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics between 24R-epimer and 24S-epimer. The purpose of this study was to explore the excretion of the epimers in bile, feces and urine of rat. Liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method has been performed for determination of 24R-epimer and 24S-epimer in bile, feces and urine. 24R-epimer or 24S-epimer was intragastric administered to rats at a single dose of 10 mg x kg(-1). Results showed that after administration the recovery of 24R-epimer and 24S-epimer in feces was 17.69% and 17.09%, respectively, while both of the two epimers were hardly detected in urine. The 48 h cumulative biliary excretion rate of 24R-epimer was 8.01% after administration, while only 1.47% for 24S-epimer. It indicated that there are stereoselectivity in biliary excretion of the epimers with intragastric administration.
