Tea cream formed in hot and strong tea infusion while cooling deteriorates quality and health benefits of tea. However, the interactions among temporal contributors during dynamic formation of tea cream are still elusive. Here, by deletional recombination experiments and molecular dynamics simulation, it was found that proteins, caffeine (CAF), and phenolics played a dominant role throughout the cream formation, and the contribution of amino acids was highlighted in the early stage. Furthermore, CAF was prominent due to its extensive binding capacity and the filling complex voids property, and caffeine-theaflavins (TFs) complexation may be the core skeleton of the growing particles in black tea infusion. In addition to TFs, the unidentified phenolic oxidation-derived products (PODP) were confirmed to contribute greatly to the cream formation.

In the present work, comprehensive two-dimensional reversed-phase countercurrent chromatography × reversed-phase liquid chromatography combined (2D RPCCC × RPLC) with 2D microfraction bioactive evaluation was employed to screen and isolate α-glucosidase inhibitors from Rheum palmatum L. Countercurrent chromatography was employed to improve 2D analysis and preparative separation. A selected biphasic solvent system composed of petroleum ether/ethyl acetate/methanol/water with gradient elution mode was used for the first dimension RPCCC separation (1D RPCCC). Solid-phase extraction was applied to eliminate interfering polar compounds before the second dimension analysis (2D RPLC). 76 components were shown in 2D contour plot in UV 280 nm. 11 Candidates were separated by a scaled-up CCC and identified by 1H NMR and 13C NMR, including anthraquinones, flavonoids, stilbenes, phenols, and glucoside derivatives. In addition, it was found that two components, resveratrol-4'-O-(6″-galloyl)glucoside (36) and lyciumaside (43) were identified as natural α-glucosidase inhibitors in Rheum palmatum L. for the first time.

We describe a unique case of 27-year-old male with Gitelman syndrome (GS) co-exist with pseudohypoparathyroidism type 1B (PHP1B). The patient presented with a 5-year history of seizures, tetany, and numbness of the extremities. Further examinations showed recurrent hypokalemia, inappropriate kaliuresis, hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, and elevated PTH levels. A novel variant of autosomal recessive GS (p.Val287Met SLC12A3) and a novel 492.3Kb deletion containing the whole of STX16, were discovered by a whole-exome sequencing. Following the diagnosis, calcitriol, calcium, and potassium supplements were started. Hematuria calcium and phosphorus levels, as well as blood potassium levels, have recovered and remained within normal ranges after 3 years of follow-up. Our findings have important consequences for supporting the idea that heterozygosity for variants have effects on the patients' clinical performance with autosomal recessive inheritance disorders. Further study is need for the putative effects of the variant. Likewise, further investigation with regards to the gene-gene interaction relations between GS and other electrolyte imbalance disorders is warranted.

Objective. The non-stationarity of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and the variability among different subjects present significant challenges in current Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) research, which requires a time-consuming specific calibration procedure to address. Transfer Learning (TL) offers a potential solution by leveraging data or models from one or more source domains to facilitate learning in the target domain, so as to address these challenges.Approach. In this paper, a novel Multi-source domain Transfer Learning Fusion (MTLF) framework is proposed to address the calibration problem. Firstly, the method transforms the source domain data with the resting state segment data, in order to decrease the differences between the source domain and the target domain. Subsequently, feature extraction is performed using common spatial pattern. Finally, an improved TL classifier is employed to classify the target samples. Notably, this method does not require the label information of target domain samples, while concurrently reducing the calibration workload.Main results. The proposed MTLF is assessed on Datasets 2a and 2b from the BCI Competition IV. Compared with other algorithms, our method performed relatively the best and achieved mean classification accuracy of 73.69% and 70.83% on Datasets 2a and 2b respectively.Significance.Experimental results demonstrate that the MTLF framework effectively reduces the discrepancy between the source and target domains and acquires better classification performance on two motor imagery datasets.

The Lamiaceae family is renowned for its terpenoid-based medicinal components, but Leonurus, which has traditional medicinal uses, stands out for its alkaloid-rich composition. Leonurine, the principal active compound found in Leonurus, has demonstrated promising effects in reducing blood lipids and treating strokes. However, the biosynthetic pathway of leonurine remains largely unexplored. Here, we present the chromosome-level genome sequence assemblies of Leonurus japonicus, known for its high leonurine production, and Leonurus sibiricus, characterized by very limited leonurine production. By integrating genomics, RNA sequencing, metabolomics, and enzyme activity assay data, we constructed the leonurine biosynthesis pathway and identified the arginine decarboxylase (ADC), uridine diphosphate glucosyltransferase (UGT), and serine carboxypeptidase-like (SCPL) acyltransferase enzymes that catalyze key reactions in this pathway. Further analyses revealed that the UGT-SCPL gene cluster evolved by gene duplication in the ancestor of Leonurus and neofunctionalization of SCPL in L. japonicus, which contributed to the accumulation of leonurine specifically in L. japonicus. Collectively, our comprehensive study illuminates leonurine biosynthesis and its evolution in Leonurus.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Bone defects are difficult to treat and have a high incidence of nonunion. The Epimedii folium-Rhizoma drynariae herbal pair (EDP) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) used for treating bone diseases. However, the mechanisms by which EDP promotes osteogenesis or bone formation remain largely unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY: This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of EDP promoted bone formation in bone defects using network pharmacology and experiments. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The chemical components of EDP were analyzed by UHPLC-MS. The hub target and pathway enrichment analysis was conducted using molecular docking or network pharmacology. The pharmacological actions of EDP were determined by µCT and histopathology examination using a bone defect rat model. The effects of EDP on the mRNA expression of Bmp2, Smad2/5, Runx2, and Alp genes were measured by RT-PCR, while changes in the protein expressions of BMP2, COL1A1, SPP1, ALP, and RUNX2in the tibia tissues of the rats in response to EDP were analyzed by immunohistochemical staining or Western blot. We also performed cell viability assays, Alizarin Red and ALP staining assays, and RT-PCR to better understand how EDP affected osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). RESULTS: Identified 14 key compounds and 47 hub targets of EDP that may be involved in promoting osteogenesis to repair bone defects. And the BMP/Smad/Runx2 pathway was likely the key pathway through which EDP promoted bone defects repairing. The results of in vivo rat experiments indicated that EDP effectively promoted tibia repair in the model rats and activated the BMP/Smad/Runx2 pathway in the tibia tissue, with upregulating Bmp2, Bmpr1α, Smad2/5, Runx2, and Alp genes, and increased the protein expression of BMP2, COL1A1, RUNX2, and ALP. In vitro, EDP was found to increase the proliferation, differentiation, and mineralization in BMSCs- and also up-regulated the expression of key genes in the BMP/Smad/Runx2 pathway. CONCLUSION: This study highlighted the ability of EDP to promote the osteogenic differentiation to enable bone repair by activating the BMP/Smad/Runx2 pathway.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Erzhi pills (EZP), a traditional Chinese medicine formula prescribed for the treatment of vitiligo, has shown promising efficacy. However, the oral bioactive components and mechanisms underlying the promotion of melanogenesis by EZP remain unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY: This study aimed to investigate the pharmacological basis and mechanism of EZP in promoting melanogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: UHPLC-TOF-MS analysis was used to identify absorbed phytochemicals in serum after oral administration of EZP. Network pharmacology methods were used to predict potential targets and pathways involved in the melanogenic activity of EZP, resulting in the construction of a "compound-target-pathway" network. Zebrafish and B16F10 cells were used to evaluate the effects of EZP on tyrosinase activity and melanin content. Western blot and ELISA analyses were used to validate the effects of EZP on melanogenesis-related proteins, including MITF, TYR, CREB, p-CREB, and cAMP. RESULTS: UHPLC-TOF-MS analysis identified 36 compounds derived from EZP in serum samples. Network pharmacology predictions revealed 89 target proteins associated with the identified compounds and closely related to vitiligo. GO and KEGG analyses indicated the involvement of the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway in the promotion of melanogenesis by EZP. Experimental results showed that EZP increased tyrosinase activity and melanin content in zebrafish and B16F10 cells without inducing toxicity. Western blot and ELISA results suggested that the melanogenic effect of EZP may be related to the activation of the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway. These results confirm the feasibility of combining serum pharmacological and network pharmacological approaches. CONCLUSIONS: EZP have the potential to increase tyrosinase activity and melanin content in zebrafish and cells possibly through activation of the cAMP/PKA pathway.

Asthma, a chronic airway inflammatory disease, has a complicated pathogenesis and limited therapeutic treatment. Evidence shows that the intestinal microbiota exhibits crucial functional interaction with asthma syndrome. Liubao tea (LBT), a type of postfermented tea in China, positively modulates gut microbiota. However, the potential benefits of LBT extract (LBTE) for allergic asthma are still not understood. Herein, the anti-inflammatory effects of LBTE and its modulation of the gut microbiota of asthmatic mice induced by ovalbumin were explored. The results demonstrate that LBTE significantly inhibited airway hyper-responsiveness and restrained the proliferation of proinflammatory cytokines and inflammatory cells associated with allergic asthma. Additionally, LBTE suppressed inflammatory infiltration, mucus secretion, and excessive goblet cell production by downregulating the gene expression of inflammatory indicators. Interestingly, fecal microbiota transplantation results further implied that the modulation of LBTE on gut microbiota played an essential role in alleviating airway inflammatory symptoms of allergic asthma.

Steroid hormones have been reported to be associated with endocrine system diseases. This paper proposes a novel procedure of deep eutectic solvent (DES)-assisted liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) to extract six steroid hormones (including cortisone, cortisol, androstenedione, testosterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, and progesterone) from serum coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). A total of five types of L-proline, choline chloride, and citric acid-based DESs were tailored; the DES from L-proline and ethylene glycol at a molar ratio of 1:4 with 20 % acetonitrile was selected as the best-fit assisted solvent for the six steroid hormones compared with other DESs. The parameters for extraction by selected DES were optimized using Box-Behnken design (BBD), and the optimal extraction conditions are 200 µL of acetonitrile, 100 µL of the sample, and 80 µL of DES. Under optimum conditions, the method has good linear calibration ranges (between 0.07 ng mL-1 and 600 ng mL-1), correlation coefficients of determination (r2>0.99), and low limits of quantification (between 0.02 and 0.60 ng mL-1). The extraction recoveries were in the range of 81.84-114.43 %, and the intra-day and inter-day relative standard deviations (RSDs) were less than 10 %.In general, the DES-LC-MS/MS method is a simple and environmentally-friendly method, which can be complementary to the presently available methods for determining steroid hormones in serum.

In this paper, liquid-liquid chromatography was introduced for the first time for the separation of fingered citron (Citrus medica L. var. sarcodactylis Swingle). The fingered citron cultivated in Jinhua is of significant industrial and medicinal value, with several major coumarin compounds detected in its extract. Therefore, further separation for higher purity was of necessity. A preparative liquid-liquid chromatographic method was developed by combining two elution modes (isocratic and step-gradient) with selection according to different polarities of the target sample. Five coumarin derivatives-5,7-dimethoxycoumarin (52.6 mg, 99.6%), phellopterin (4.9 mg, 97.1%), 5-prenyloxy-7-methoxycoumarin (6.7 mg, 98.7%), 6-hydroxy-7-methoxycoumarin (7.1 mg, 82.2%), and byakangelicol (10.5 mg, 90.1%)-with similar structures and properties were isolated on a large scale from 100 mg of petroleum ether (PE) extract and 100 mg of ethyl acetate (EA) extract in Jinhua fingered citron. The productivity was much improved. The anti-growth activity of the isolated coumarins was evaluated against three cancer cell lines (HeLa, A549, and MCF7) with an MTT assay. The coumarins demonstrated potential anti-tumor activity on the HeLa cell line, with 5,7-dimethoxycoumarin in particular exhibiting the best anti-growth activity (IC50 = 10.57 ± 0.24 µM) by inhibiting proliferation. It inhibited colony formation and reduced the size of the tumor sphere in a concentration-dependent manner. The main mechanism was confirmed as inducing apoptosis. This work was informative for further studies aimed at exploring new natural-product-based antitumor agents.

The metalens has vast applications in biomedicine and industrial manufacturing due to their ultrathin structure and vital ability to manipulate the properties of light waves for long-infrared systems. However, it is difficult for metalens to achieve the confocal function with high focusing efficiency, wide wavelength bandwidth, and low structural complexity. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate an all-silicon dielectric metalens composed of arrays of minimalist meta-atoms with a single rectangular nanopillar arranged on a periodic square lattice substrate, which realizes the confocal function of the orthogonal-linear-polarized light with wavelengths of 10.6 µm and 9.3 µm, with focusing efficiencies of 64.94% and 60.03%, respectively. Also, it reveals nearly the diffraction-limited focusing performance. In addition, the metalens can realize precise long-infrared thermal imaging. Moreover, the proposed metalens is compatible with the standard complementary metal oxide semiconductor processes, which can effectively reduce the manufacturing cost and provide a feasible solution for developing planar integrated multifunctional micro-nanophotonic devices in the long-infrared field.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of serum miR-124 and miR-200C combined with ultrasound NT in screening Down syndrome (DS) in elderly puerperae during the second trimester. Methods: 84 elderly pregnant women at high risk of DS were included (DS group: 58, non-DS group: 26). Serum markers (uE3, ß-hCG, AFP, miR-124, and miR-200C) were measured. Differences in markers between groups were analyzed, and a prediction model was used for DS evaluation. Results: The DS group showed higher smoking, drinking, and radiation exposure rates (P < .05). MOM values of ß-hCG and AFP were higher, while MOM value of uE3 was lower in the DS group (P < .05). MiR-124 and miR-200C were up-regulated in the DS group (P < .05). The prediction model and ROC curve analysis indicated the diagnostic value of the markers for DS (AUC = 0.779, 0.817, 0.780, 0.884, 0.887, P < .05). MiR-124 had the highest diagnostic specificity. Conclusion: MiR-124 and miR-200C can serve as auxiliary serum markers for early screening of DS in elderly puerperae during the second trimester.

Background/Aims: Stigma related with antidepressants is prevalent in patients with functional dyspepsia. It affects medication compliance and efficacy. Herbal medicine acquired a deep-rooted cultural identity in relieving dyspeptic symptoms in Asians. The research was designed to compare the effectiveness of Zhizhu Kuanzhong capsules (ZZKZ) versus doxepin hydrochloride (doxepin) on alleviating stigma and medication nonadherence among patients with refractory FD (rFD). Methods: Patients with rFD from February 2021 to February 2022 were randomly allocated to receive either doxepin (n = 56) or ZZKZ (n = 57) combined with omeprazole for 4 weeks. Medication possession ratio (MPR), the disease- and medication-associated stigma were analyzed. The scales were utilized to assess dyspeptic symptoms (Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire) and psychological conditions (Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire and Patient Health Questionnaire). Results: The MPR values for ZZKZ were significantly higher than those for doxepin (P < 0.001). The stigma scores decreased in ZZKZ group while increased in doxepin group compared to baseline after treatment. The proportion of patients showing ZZKZ-associated stigma was significantly lower than doxepin-associated stigma (P < 0.001). The MPR values were negatively correlated with post-treatment stigma scores in both groups (P < 0.001). Dyspeptic symptoms and psychological condition were improved in both groups after treatment, with no significant difference on post-treatment Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire, or Patient Health Questionnaire scores between 2 groups. Conclusion: ZZKZ is superior to doxepin in alleviating stigma and medication non-adherence, with comparable efficacy in improving dyspeptic symptoms and psychological condition of patients with rFD.

Protecting haploid pollen and spores against UV-B light and high temperature, 2 major stresses inherent to the terrestrial environment, is critical for plant reproduction and dispersal. Here, we show flavonoids play an indispensable role in this process. First, we identified the flavanone naringenin, which serves to defend against UV-B damage, in the sporopollenin wall of all vascular plants tested. Second, we found that flavonols are present in the spore/pollen protoplasm of all euphyllophyte plants tested and that these flavonols scavenge reactive oxygen species to protect against environmental stresses, particularly heat. Genetic and biochemical analyses showed that these flavonoids are sequentially synthesized in both the tapetum and microspores during pollen ontogeny in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). We show that stepwise increases in the complexity of flavonoids in spores/pollen during plant evolution mirror their progressive adaptation to terrestrial environments. The close relationship between flavonoid complexity and phylogeny and its strong association with pollen survival phenotypes suggest that flavonoids played a central role in the progression of plants from aquatic environments into progressively dry land habitats.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Treating cognitive impairment is a challenging and necessary research topic. ZeXieYin Formula (ZXYF), is a traditional herbal formula documented in the book of HuangDiNeiJing. Our previous studies demonstrated the ameliorative effects of ZXYF on atherosclerosis by reducing the plasma trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) level. TMAO is a metabolite of gut microorganisms, our recent research found that the increasing level of TMAO may have adverse effects on cognitive functions. AIM OF THE STUDY: Our study mainly focused on the therapeutic effects of ZXYF on TMAO-induced cognitive impairment in mice and explored its underlying mechanism. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After the TMAO-induced cognitive impairment mice models were established, we applied behavioral tests to estimate the learning and memory ability of the ZXYF intervention mice. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was used to quantify the TMAO levels in plasma and the brain. The effects of ZXYF on the hippocampal synaptic structure and the neurons were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Nissl staining. In addition, western-blotting (WB) and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining were used to detect the level of related proteins in the synaptic structure and further verify the changes in synaptic plasticity and the mTOR pathway after ZXYF administration. RESULTS: Behavioral tests showed that the learning and memory ability of mice impaired after a period of TMAO intervention and ZXYF could alleviate these changes. A series of results showed that ZXYF partly restored the damage of hippocampal synapse and neurons in TMAO-induced mice, at the same time, the expression of synapse-related proteins and mTOR pathway-related proteins were significantly regulated compared with the damage caused by TMAO. CONCLUSION: ZXYF could alleviate TMAO-induced cognitive impairment by improving synaptic function, reducing neuronal damage, regulating synapse-associated proteins, and regulating the mTOR signaling pathway.

BACKGROUND: Polymyxin B is the first-line therapy for Carbapenem-resistant organism (CRO) nosocomial pneumonia. However, clinical data for its pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) relationship are limited. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between polymyxin B exposure and efficacy for the treatment of CRO pneumonia in critically ill patients, and to optimize the individual dosing regimens. METHODS: Patients treated with polymyxin B for CRO pneumonia were enrolled. Blood samples were assayed using a validated high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method. Population PK analysis and Monte Carlo simulation were performed using Phoenix NLME software. Logistic regression analyses and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were employed to identify the significant predictors and PK/PD indices of polymyxin B efficacy. RESULTS: A total of 105 patients were included, and the population PK model was developed based on 295 plasma concentrations. AUCss,24 h/MIC (AOR = 0.97, 95% CI 0.95-0.99, p = 0.009), daily dose (AOR = 0.98, 95% CI 0.97-0.99, p = 0.028), and combination of inhaled polymyxin B (AOR = 0.32, 95% CI 0.11-0.94, p = 0.039) were independent risk factors for polymyxin B efficacy. ROC curve showed that AUCss,24 h/MIC is the most predictive PK/PD index of polymyxin B for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia caused by CRO, and the optimal cutoff point value was 66.9 in patients receiving combination therapy with another antimicrobial. Model-based simulation suggests that the maintaining daily dose of 75 and 100 mg Q12 h could achieve ≥ 90% PTA of this clinical target at MIC values ≤ 0.5 and 1 mg/L, respectively. For patients unable to achieve the target concentration by intravenous administration, adjunctive inhalation of polymyxin B would be beneficial. CONCLUSIONS: For CRO pneumonia, daily dose of 75 and 100 mg Q12 h was recommended for clinical efficacy. Inhalation of polymyxin B is beneficial for patients who cannot achieve the target concentration by intravenous administration.

The current guidelines recommend that people consume 2 or more servings of fat-rich fish per week to obtain enough omega-3 (ω-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids to prevent cardiovascular events. However, the cardiovascular benefits of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in patients with diabetes are unclear, and related large-scale trials have produced conflicting results. We aimed to perform a meta-analysis of all randomized controlled trials that attempted to assess the effects of ω-3 fatty acid supplementation on cardiovascular outcomes in patients with diabetes. In PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library, we searched for data from all randomized controlled trials on ω-3 fatty acids and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with diabetes published before July 2022. Eight eligible studies involving 57,754 participants were ultimately included. Meta-analysis showed that ω-3 fatty acid supplementation reduces cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in patients with diabetes (rate ration [RR] = 0.93; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.90, 0.97; P = 0.0009). Among them, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), but not EPA plus docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), significantly reduced the risk of CVD in patients with diabetes (EPA [RR = 0.81; 95% CI: 0.73, 0.90; P=0.0001]). This meta-analysis suggests that ω-3 fatty acid supplementation is an effective strategy to prevent CVD in patients with diabetes, but further well-designed, large-scale randomized controlled trials are necessary to evaluate the safety of ω-3 fatty acid supplementation, and its effect on atrial fibrillation. This study was registered with PROSPERO as CRD42022346302.

The functional components in tea confer various potential health benefits to humans. To date, several special tea products featuring functional components (STPFCs) have been successfully developed, such as O-methylated catechin-rich tea, γ-aminobutyric acid-rich tea, low-caffeine tea, and selenium-rich tea products. STPFCs have some unique and enhanced health benefits when compared with conventional tea products, which can meet the specific needs and preferences of different groups and have huge market potential. The processing strategies to improve the health benefits of tea products by regulating the functional component content have been an active area of research in food science. The fresh leaves of some specific tea varieties rich in functional components are used as raw materials, and special processing technologies are employed to prepare STPFCs. Huge progress has been achieved in the research and development of these STPFCs. However, the current status of these STPFCs has not yet been systematically reviewed. Here, studies on STPFCs have been comprehensively reviewed with a focus on their potential health benefits and processing strategies. Additionally, other chemical components with the potential to be developed into special teas and the application of tea functional components in the food industry have been discussed. Finally, suggestions on the promises and challenges for the future study of these STPFCs have been provided. This paper might shed light on the current status of the research and development of these STPFCs. Future studies on STPFCs should focus on screening specific tea varieties, identifying new functional components, evaluating health-promoting effects, improving flavor quality, and elucidating the interactions between functional components.

Lack of phosphorus (P) is a major environmental factor affecting rapeseed (Brassica napus. L) root growth and development. For breeding purposes, it is crucial to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying root system architecture traits that confer low-P tolerance in rapeseed. Natural variations in the glycine-rich protein gene BnGRP1 were analysed in the natural population of 400 rapeseed cultivars under low-P stress through genome-wide association study and transcriptome analysis. Based on 11 single nucleotide polymorphism mutations in the BnGRP1 sequence, 10 haplotypes (Hap) were formed. Compared with the other types, the cultivar BnGRP1Hap1 in the panel demonstrated the longest root length and heaviest root weight. BnGRP1Hap1 overexpression in rapeseed led to enhanced low-P tolerance. CRISPR/Cas9-derived BnGRP1Hap4 knockout mutations in rapeseed can lead to sensitivity to low-P stress. Furthermore, BnGRP1Hap1 influences the expression of the phosphate transporter 1 gene (PHT1) associated with P absorption. Overall, the findings of this study highlight new insights into the mechanisms of GRP1 enhancement of low-P tolerance in rapeseed.

Background: This article provides an overview of the current status and research progress of mesothelioma. Methods: A total of 2638 documents published from 1 January 2004 to 30 November 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed via Microsoft Office Excel 2019, VOSviewer 1.6.18, and Tableau 2022.2. Results: There was an obvious increase in the number of publications regarding mesothelioma in the last 18 years, with the United States dominating the research field with 715 publications and 23,882 citations, while the University of Turin contributed the most (118). Occupational & Environmental Medicine was the most popular journal (80), with Corrado Magnani being the most prolific author (52) and Michele Carbone obtaining the most citations (4472). "Oncology" and "Health Science of Environment & Occupation" were the two main subjects, while the keywords "asbestos", "lung cancer", "gene expression", "apoptosis", "survival", and "cisplatin" were the most popular. Conclusions: The containment of mesothelioma calls for more participation from low- and middle-income countries, and further attention needs to be paid to clinical research.
