RESUMO

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks third globally. There are many adverse reactions to treatments such as surgeries and post-surgical chemotherapy, which affect patients' prognosis and reduce their life quality. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (O3FAs) have become an essential part of immune nutrition due to their anti-inflammatory properties, which improve body immunity and have attracted widespread attention. A systematic review focused on the efficacy and safety of O3FAs for patients undergoing surgeries in combination with chemotherapy or a surgery alone is lacking. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of O3FAs in the adjuvant treatment of CRC, a meta-analysis was conducted on patients with CRC who underwent surgeries in combination with chemotherapy or a surgery alone. Methods: As of March 2023, publications have been obtained using search terms from digital databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Embase and Cochrane Library. Only randomized clinical trials (RCTs) evaluating the efficacy and safety of O3FAs following adjuvant treatments for CRC were included in the meta-analysis. Key outcomes were tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1beta (IL-1ß), albumin, body mass index (BMI), weight, the rate of infectious and non-infectious complications, the length of hospital stay (LOS), CRC mortality and life quality. Results: After screening 1,080 studies, 19 RCTs (n = 1,556) with O3FAs in CRC were included, in all of which at least one efficacy or safety outcome was examined. Compared to the control group, the level of TNF-α (MD = -0.79, 95% CI: 1.51 to -0.07, p = 0.03) and IL-6 was reduced due to O3FA-enriched nutrition during the perioperative period (MD = -4.70, 95% CI: 6.59 to -2.80, p < 0.00001). It also reduces LOS (MD = 9.36, 95% CI: 2.16 to 16.57, p = 0.01). No significant differences were found in CRP, IL-1ß, albumin, BMI, weight, the rate of infectious and non-infectious complications, CRC mortality or life quality. The inflammatory status of patients with CRC undergoing adjuvant therapies decreased after a total parenteral nutrition (TPN) O3FA supplementation (TNF-α, MD = -1.26, 95% CI: 2.25 to -0.27, p = 0.01, I 2 = 4%, n = 183 participants). The rate of infectious and non-infectious complications was reduced among patients with CRC undergoing adjuvant therapies after a parenteral nutrition (PN) O3FA supplementation (RR = 3.73, 95% CI: 1.52 to 9.17, p = 0.004, I 2 = 0%, n = 76 participants). Conclusion: Our observations suggest that supplementation with O3FAs has little or no effect on patients with CRC undergoing adjuvant therapies and that a prolonged inflammatory state may be modified. To validate these findings, well-designed, large-scale, randomized and controlled studies on homogeneous patient populations are expected.

RESUMO

Background: Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is one of the most prevalent pathogenic microorganisms in the world, which is related to gastric ulcer. Objective: To observe the effect of lansoprazole and omeprazole combined with antibiotics on gastric juice pH and inflammatory factors in elderly patients with Hp positive gastric ulcer. Design: This study was a prospective observation study. Setting: This study was performed in Department of Gastroenterology, First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. Participants: One hundred and ten elder patients with Hp positive gastric ulcer admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to May 2020. Intervention: The control group was treated with omeprazole combined with antibiotics, and the observation group was treated with lansoprazole combined with antibiotics. Primary outcome measures: The level of gastric juice pH, interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and heat shock protein-70 (HSP-70). Methods: The changes of gastric juice pH value, IL-1, IL-8, TNF-α and HSP-70 levels before and after treatment were detected in the two groups. The total effective rate, Hp eradication rate, mature type of regenerated mucosal tissue surrounding ulcer and adverse reaction rate were statistically analyzed. Results: The total effective rate and Hp eradication rate in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the adverse reaction rate in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P < .05). After treatment, the pH value of gastric juice and HSP-70 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, while the IL-1, IL-8 and TNF-α were lower than those in the control group (P < .05). The mature type of regenerated mucosal tissue structure around ulcer in the observation group was better than that in the control group (P < .05). Conclusion: The overall effect of lansoprazole combined with antibiotics in the treatment of Hp positive gastric ulcer in the elderly is better than that of omeprazole combined with antibiotics.

RESUMO

Agrimonia pilosa is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant, commonly known as agrimony or hairy agrimony. The dried aerial parts of this species have been widely used for the treatment of acute diarrhea, hemostasis, and other inflammation-related diseases. However, information on the in vivo metabolism of A. pilosa constituents is limited. In this study, the phytochemical profile of A. pilosa was investigated using HPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS combined with a nontargeted diagnostic ion network analysis strategy. An information-dependent acquisition method with multiple filters was utilized to screen possible prototypes and metabolites in complex biological matrices. Furthermore, various data-processing techniques were applied to analyze possible prototypes and their metabolites in rat plasma, feces, and urine following oral administration of A. pilosa extract. A total of 62 compounds, which belonged to five main structural classes (21 phenols, 22 flavonoids, 6 coumarins, 3 triterpenes, and 10 organic acids), were tentatively identified in A. pilosa. In addition, using our proposed stepwise method, 32 prototypes and 69 metabolites were detected in rat plasma, feces, and urine. The main metabolic pathways after the oral administration of A. pilosa extract were revealed to include methylation, dihydroxylation, demethylation, hydrolysis, sulfation, and glucuronidation. This comprehensive in vivo and in vitro identification of the possible active components in A. pilosa could provide a basis for understanding its various pharmacological activities.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the application value of folate receptor-positive circulating tumor cell analysis (FR+-CTC analysis) in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS: Clinical data of CRC patients and healthy subjects admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to October 2019 were retrospectively collected. CTC result and serological and pathological outcomes of the study patients were collected and analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) was drawn. RESULTS: The CTC levels of cancer patients (9.34 ± 3.53 FU/3 ml) were significantly higher than those of healthy subjects (7.00 ± 2.33 FU/3 ml). CTC levels could be related to cancer stage and metastasis in patients. ROC curves were drawn and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.702. The cutoff value was determined to be 8.87 FU/3 ml. At this cutoff value, the sensitivity and specificity of FR+-CTC analysis in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer were 61.8% and 82.6%, respectively. The diagnostic efficiency of FR+-CTCs in advanced CRC was significantly higher than that in the early stage. And the cutoff value of early and advanced stage CRC was determined to be 9.66 FU/3 ml. CONCLUSION: FR+-CTC analysis has high potential in recurrence diagnosis and decision of adjuvant chemotherapy for CRC.

RESUMO

Bioreduction can facilitate oxyanions removal from wastewater. However, simultaneously removing selenate, nitrate and sulfate and recovering high-purity elemental selenium (Se0) from wastewater by a single system is difficult and may lead to carcinogenic selenium monosulfide (SeS) formation. To solve this issue, a two-stage biological fluidized bed (FBR) process with ethanol dosing based on oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) feedback control was developed in this study. FBR1 performance was first evaluated at various ORP setpoints (between -520 and -360 mV vs. Ag/AgCl) and elevated sulfate concentration. Subsequently, ethanol-fed FBR2 was used to reduce sulfate from FBR1 effluent, followed by an aerated sulfide oxidation reactor (SOR). At - 520 mV≤ ORPs≤ -480 mV, FBR1 removed 100 ±â€¯0.1% nitrate and 99.7 ±â€¯0.3% selenate without sulfate reduction. At ORPs ≥ -440 mV, selenate reduction was incomplete, whereas nitrate removal remained stable. Se0 recovery efficiency from FBR1 effluent was 37.5% with 71% Se purity. FBR2 converted 86% of the remaining sulfate in FBR1 effluent to hydrogen sulfide, but the over-oxidation of dissolved sulfide in SOR decreased the overall sulfate removal efficiency to ~46.3%. Overall, the two-stage FBR process with ORP feedback dosing of ethanol was effective for sequentially removing selenate, nitrate and sulfate and recovering Se0 from wastewater.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of warming needle moxibustion based on rehabilitation on rotator cuff injury. MethodsFrom January, 2019 to January, 2020, 70 patients with rotator cuff injury from Rehabilitation Hospital, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into control group (n = 35) and experimental group (n = 35). Both groups received Mulligan mobilization and rotator cuff muscle group muscle energy technique (MET) training, while the experimental group received warming needle moxibustion at Jianyu (LI15), Jügu (LI16), Jianqian and Jianzhen (SI9) in addition, for two weeks. They were assessed with Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI), Visual Analogue Scale for pain (VAS), range of motion of shoulder (ROM), and shoulder isokinetic muscle strength before and after treatment, and the complications and recurrence were observed. ResultsThere were five cases in the control group and four cases in the experimental group dropped. The SPADI score, VAS score decreased (|t| > 5.039, P < 0.001), and the ROM and R value of isokinetic muscle strength testing increased (|t| > 2.751, P < 0.01) in both groups after treatment, while the SPADI score, VAS score were less (|t| > 3.616, P < 0.001); the ROM, and R values of isokinetic muscle strength testing of flexion, extension, adduction and abduction were more (|t| > 2.214, P < 0.05) in the experimental group than in the control group. ConclusionWarming needle moxibustion can further relieve shoulder pain in patients with rotator cuff injury, and improve shoulder ROM, muscle strength and functioning.

RESUMO

Nonconvulsive electrotherapy (NET) defined as electrical brain stimulation administered like standard electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), but below seizure threshold, could be effective for patients with treatment-refractory depression (TRD) with fewer adverse neurocognitive outcomes. However, there is a lack of studies in Chinese patients with TRD. Thus, this study was conducted to examine the efficacy and safety of adjunctive NET for Chinese patients with TRD. Twenty TRD patients were enrolled and underwent six NET treatments. Depressive symptoms, response, and remission were assessed with the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-17) at baseline and after 1, 3, and 6 NET treatments. Neurocognitive function was assessed by the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) at baseline and after the completion of six NET treatments. Mean HAMD-17 scores declined significantly from 26.2 to 10.4 (p < 0.001) after post-NET. The rates of response and remission were 60.0% (95% CI: 36.5-83.5) and 10.0% (95% CI: 0-24.4), respectively. Neurocognitive performance improved following a course of NET. No significant association was found between changes in depressive symptoms and baseline neurocognitive function. Adjunctive NET appeared to be effective for patients with TRD, without adverse neurocognitive effects. Randomized controlled studies were warranted to confirm these findings.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) has been implicated in the pathophysiology of depression and in the antidepressant response. This study examined whether changes in serum BDNF levels are associated with the antidepressant effects of nonconvulsive electrotherapy (NET). METHODS: For BDNF analyses, serum samples were collected from 20 patients with treatment-refractory depression (TRD) and from 20 healthy controls. Serum samples were also collected from patients following a course of NET. RESULTS: Although significantly lower baseline serum BDNF levels were observed in TRD patients than in healthy controls, no changes in serum BDNF levels were found in TRD patients after a course of NET compared to baseline. No significant association was found between serum BDNF levels and depression severity. CONCLUSION: Serum BDNF levels appear to have no clinical utility in the prediction of the antidepressant effects of NET in patients with TRD. Future studies of higher quality and with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm these findings.

RESUMO

Infantile cholestatic hepatopathy (ICH) is a clinical syndrome characterized by the accumulation of cytotoxic bile acids in infancy, leading to serious liver cirrhosis or liver failure. The aetiology of ICH is complicated and some of them is unknown. Regardless of the aetiology, the finial pathology of ICH is hepatocyte apoptosis caused by severe and persistent cholestasis. It is already known that activation of calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) could lead to the apoptosis of cardiomyocytes. However, the mechanism by CaSR-mediated cholestasis-related hepatocyte apoptosis is not fully understood. Li-Dan-He-Ji (LDHJ), a Traditional Chinese Medicine prescription, was developed to treat ICH. Another aim of this study was to investigate the possible mechanisms of LDHJ in cholestasis-related hepatocyte apoptosis. Using the primary hepatocytes, we first investigated the molecular mechanism of CaSR-mediated hepatocyte apoptosis in cholestasis. Then we prepared LDHJ granules and used ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography to identify the predominant drugs; confirmed the stability of the main substances; and for cell experiments screened forsythoside-A, emodin and chlorogenic acid as the three active substances of LDHJ granules. In the young rats with ANIT-induced intrahepatic cholestasis and the primary hepatocytes with TCDC-induced cholestasis-related hepatocyte apoptosis, the levels of liver injury and cholestasis-related biomarkers, calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR), hepatocyte apoptosis, Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, Cytochrome-C, caspase-3, phosphorylated-c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase (p-JNK)/JNK, and p-P38/P38 were all increased, while the levels of p-extracellular signal-regulated kinase (p-ERK)/ERK were decreased. However, LDHJ granules and its three active substances effectively reversed these changes. Furthermore, the three active substances reduced the increases in the intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+]i) and ROS levels and attenuated the dissipation of the mitochondria membrane potential in the TCDC-induced primary hepatocytes. The opposite results were obtained from the TCDC-induced primary hepatocytes treated with an agonist of CaSR (GdCl3) plus forsythoside-A, emodin or chlorogenic acid. Based on the results from in vivo and in vitro studies, LDHJ functions as an antagonist of CaSR to regulate hepatocyte apoptosis in cholestasis through the mitochondrial pathway and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway.

RESUMO

Objective:To analyze the internal transcribed spacer(ITS)2 and psbA-trnH sequences of Ziziphora bungeana in 18 different geographic populations,in order to provide reference about evaluation of germplasm resources and analysis of genetic diversity of medicinal plants. Method:Genomic DNAs of the Z. bungeana were extracted by kit method. Polymerase chain reaction(PCR)was used to amplify ITS2 and psbA-trnH interstitial region sequences, bidirectional sequencing, splicing, and constructing Neighbor-joining(NJ) based on Kimura 2-parameter(K2P) model. Result:All of sequences of ITS2 and psbA-trnH of Z. bungeana in different geographic populations showed intraspecific variations. The average ITS2 sequence length of Z. bungeana was 236 bp,9 haplotypes were detected, and the genetic distance was 0-0.022. Z. bungeana of different geographical groups gathered into two branches,10 geographic populations, including XTH3,XTH6 and XTH9,were considered as one branch, while 8 geographic populations, including XTH4,XTH5 and XTH10,were the other branch. In addition to XTH6 that lacked 6 in bp psbA-trnH sequence, all of the other geographic populations had a 355 bp sequence of psbA-trnH,4 haplotypes were detected, and the genetic distance was 0-0.023. 12 geographic populations, such as XTH1,XTH3,XTH4,gathered into one branch, while XTH14,XTH17 and XTH18 gathered into the other branch. NJ tree based on ITS2+psbA-trnH combination sequence showed that Z. bungeana of different geographical populations could be divided into two branches, with 12 geographical populations, like XTH11,XTH12,XTH16 as one branch, and XTH14,XTH17 and XTH18 as the other branch. Conclusion:Near or similar geographical locations of different geographical populations implies relatively short genetic distance and relatively close genetic relationship, which indicates that genetic relationship and genetic diversity of Z. bungeana in different geographical populations are related to geographical locations.

RESUMO

The aim of this paper was to investigate the mechanism and effect of psoralen and isopsoralen in the treatment of lipid accumulation in LO2 cells. Human LO2 cells nonalcoholic fatty liver models were established by using palmitic acid( PA). Then psoralen and isopsoralen were administered for intervention. Intracellular triglyceride( TG) and total cholesterol( TC) content, the cell supernatant alanine aminotransferase( ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase( AST) levels were determined by enzyme method. Cell supernatant proinflammatory cytokines( IL-6,TNF-α) and chemokines( IL-8,MCP-1) were determined by ELISA method. Western blot method was conducted to detect the protein expression of intracellular nuclear factor( NF-κB) p65 phosphorylation( p-p65),nonphosphorylated protein( p65),and transforming factor TGF-ß1. Result showed that as compared with the model group, intracellular TG and TC levels, the cell supernatant ALT and AST levels, proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines were decreased( P < 0. 01,P <0. 05); the p-p65/p65 ratio and TGF-ß1 protein expression were also significantly decreased( P< 0. 01,P< 0. 05) in psoralen intervention group. As compared with the model cells, intracellular TG content had no significant changes, but all the other indexes were reduced( P<0. 01,P<0. 05) in the cells of isopsoralen intervention group. Psoralen exhibited better effect than isopsoralen( P< 0. 01,P<0. 05). It is concluded that psoralen could improve the adipogenesis of LO2 cells induced by PA; both psoralen and isopsoralen are effective in ameliorating LO2 cells injury induced by PA,reducing inflammation via inhibiting the activation of NF-κB and down-regulating the expression of TGF-ß1.

RESUMO

KEY MESSAGE: Seed germination rate and oil content can be regulated at theGDSL transcriptional level by eitherAtGDSL1 orBnGDSL1 inB. napus. Gly-Asp-Ser-Leu (GDSL)-motif lipases represent an important subfamily of lipolytic enzymes, which play important roles in lipid metabolism, seed development, abiotic stress, and pathogen defense. In the present study, two closely related GDSL-motif lipases, Brassica napus GDSL1 and Arabidopsis thaliana GDSL1, were characterized as functioning in regulating germination rate and seed oil content in B. napus. AtGDSL1 and BnGDSL1 overexpression lines showed an increased seed germination rate and improved seedling establishment compared with wild type. Meanwhile, the constitutive overexpression of AtGDSL1 and BnGDSL1 promoted lipid catabolism and decreased the seed oil content. While RNAi-mediated suppression of BnGDSL1 (Bngdsl1) in B. napus improved the seed oil content and decreased seed germination rate. Moreover, the Bngdsl1 transgenic seeds showed changes in the fatty acid (FA) composition, featuring an increase in C18:1 and a decrease in C18:2 and C18:3. The transcriptional levels of six related core enzymes involved in FA mobilization were all elevated in the AtGDSL1 and BnGDSL1 overexpression lines, but strongly suppressed in the Bngdsl1 transgenic line. These results suggest that improving the seed germination and seed oil content in B. napus could be achieved by regulating the GDSL transcriptional level.

RESUMO

Gekko gecko (Tokay Gecko) is a valuable traditional Chinese medicine. In this study, the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technique was introduced for visual rapid identification of G. gecko from adulterants. A total of sixty-five 12S rRNA sequences of fourteen species of G. gecko and its adulterants were obtained. The results showed that G. gecko could be identified from its adulterants through BLAST analysis based on 12S rRNA regions. The 12S rRNA sequences of ten batches of G. gecko were conserved. There were only two haplotypes and three variation sites in the available regions for primers design. Six specific LAMP primers were successfully designed online based on 12S rRNA sequences. The visual rapid detection of G. gecko could be achieved with the optimized conditions (64 °C for 1 h and 80 °C for 5 min). And the required minimal template concentration was 5 μg·L⁻¹ while conventional PCR with 0.5 mg·L⁻¹. Consequently, the LAMP method established from this study was rapid, specific, highly sensitive, and simple. It could be applied to detect G. gecko from its adulterants efficiently.

RESUMO

To investigate the mechanism and effect of Psoralea corylifolia(PC) in the treatment of NAFLD in juvenal mice. The NAFLD model in juvenal mice was established by feeding high-fat diet. Then PC herbal granules (at low and high dose) were administered for 5 weeks. Blood glucose (FBG, PG-1 h/2 h), blood lipid (TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C), fasting insulin, liver function (ALT, AST) were examined. HOMA-IR was calculated. Hepatic histological changes were observed. The content of TG, inflammatory factor (TNF-α, IL-8) and protein expressions of CD44, NF-κB p65, p-NF-κB p65 in hepatic tissues were determined. The ratio of p-NF-κB p65 to NF-κB p65 (p-p65/p65) was calculated. The result showed that compared with the model group, both PC treatment groups showed reduction in hepatic steatosis, inflammatory cell infiltration and fibroplasia in portal area. HOMA-IR, ALT, AST, FBG, PG-2 h, TC, TG, LDL-C concentrations and hepatic TG content were also significantly decreased, with the reduction of TNF-α, IL-8 contents, CD44 expression and p-p65/p65 ratio in hepatic tissues (P<0.01). High-dose PC group had a better effect than low-dose group (P<0.01, P<0.05). In conclusion, PC is effective in treating hepatic injury, glucolipid metabolism disturbances and fibrosis in juvenal NAFLD mice. The mechanism may be related to inhibition of inflammation and down-regulation of the activation of hepatic NF-κB.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of the Traditional Chinese Medicine berberine on blood lipid and antioxidation ability in hyperlipoidemic model rats. METHODS: Ten rats were randomly chosen as control group, and other rats were used to establish hyperllipemia rat models. Successfully molding rats were randomly divided into model group, berberine low dose group(100 mg/kg), medium dose group(200 mg/kg), high dose group(300 mg/kg), and xuezhikang group(200 mg/kg), 10 rats in each group. Each rat received gavage per day continually for 30 days. Diacylgycerol acyltransferase (DGAT), 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA), hepatic triglycerides lipase (HTGL), cholesterol 7a-hydroxylase (CYP7A), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathion peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels were monitored. RESULTS: The Traditional Chinese Medicine berberine could obviously decrease the liver coefficient and the contents of TC, TG, LDL-C and increase the serum content of HDL-C in hyperlipoidemia rats. The Traditional Chinese Medicine berberine decrease the levels of MDA, DGAT, HMG-CoA and increase the activities of HTGL, CYP7A, SOD and GSH-Px in liver tissue. CONCLUSIONS: The Traditional Chinese Medicine berberine could decrease the blood lipid level and prevent the lipid peroxidation damage in hyperlidemia rats.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effect of emodin in young rats with intrahepatic cholestasis. METHODS: A total of 120 young Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control, model, and high-, medium-, and low-dose emodin groups, with 24 rats in each group. The rats in the control and model groups were given sodium carboxymethyl cellulose solution by gavage, while the other groups were given different doses of emodin solution by gavage. On the 5th day of experiment, alpha-naphthylisothiocyanate (ANIT, 50 mg/kg) was applied by gavage to establish the model of intrahepatic cholestasis in all groups except the control group. At 24, 48, and 72 hours after gavage, 8 rats in each group were sacrificed. Colorimetry was used to measure the serum levels of total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin (DBIL), total bile acid (TBA), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in each group, and hematoxylin-eosin staining was applied to observe the morphological changes of the liver under a light microscope at different time points. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the model group had significantly increased serum levels of TBIL, DBIL, TBA, ALP, GGT, ALT, and AST at the 24-hour, 48-hour, and 72-hour time points (P<0.01). In the model group, the serum levels of TBIL, DBIL, TBA, ALT, and AST showed varying degrees of increase at 48 hours after establishment of model, compared with the values at 24 and 72 hours (P<0.05). At 24, 48, and 72 hours, the high-, medium-, and low-dose emodin groups had varying degrees of reductions in the serum levels of TBIL and TBA compared with the model group (P<0.05); the high- and low-dose emodin groups had significantly increased serum levels of TBA compared with the medium-dose emodin group (P<0.05). The model group had the most severe pathological changes at 48 hours. Compared with the model group, the high-, medium-, and low-dose emodin groups showed certain improvement in pathological changes of the liver at each time point, and the medium-dose emodin group had better improvement compared with the high- and low-dose emodin groups. CONCLUSIONS: Emodin can effectively improve ANIT-induced intrahepatic cholestasis in young rats, and medium-dose emodin shows the best effect.

RESUMO

Medicinal animal breeding standards is regarded as the law to normalize relevant production that can guarantee the quality of traditional Chinese medicine of animal category. The article summarized the medicinal animal resources in our country and the present condition of medicinal animal breeding standards. It considered the current animal breeding standards system was in adequate, not only the quantity of breeding standards, the standard content and index were also uncomprehensive, which is not conducive to the scientific and orderly development and utilization of medicinal animal resources. The article pointed out that the development of the basic standards, environmental control, feed quality, raising management, inspection and quarantine should be included into the medicinal animal breeding standards, and the medicinal animal breeding standards content framework was introduced. Meanwhile, animal welfare, biological safety and file management should be concerned during the process of research. Hope the article has good reference value to medicinal animal breeding standards establishment and production management.

RESUMO

Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (SM) is a very popular medicinal plant that has been extensively applied for many years to treat various diseases, especially coronary heart diseases and cerebrovascular diseases, either alone or in combination with other Chinese plant-based medicines. Although a large number of studies on SM have been performed, they are scattered across a variety of publications. The present review is an up-to-date summary of the published scientific information about the traditional uses, chemical constituents, pharmacological effects, side effects, and drug interactions with SM, in order to lay the foundation for further investigations and better utilization of SM. SM contains diverse chemical components including diterpenoid quinones, hydrophilic phenolic acids, and essential oils. Many pharmacological studies have been done on SM during the last 30 years, focusing on the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular effects, and the antioxidative, neuroprotective, antifibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and antineoplastic activities. The research results strongly support the notion that SM has beneficial therapeutic properties and has a potential of being an effective adaptogenic remedy.

RESUMO

Currently, the herbal prescription therapy for corresponding constitutional diseases is a common constitution regulating method. This method has an obvious effect in treating and regulating constitution-related diseases. However, for people who do not have disease, they prefer to regulate constitution with dietary therapy. In this paper, the researchers came up with a design method of constitution regulating and healthcare foods based on medicinal property combination mode of clinical empirical formulas. With "Yupinfeng San", a common formula for Qi-insufficiency constitution and specific endowment constitution, as the example for constitution regulating and healthcare foods, the researchers proved the effectiveness and rationality of healthcare food schemes in terms of the efficacy of single herb and the modern pharmacological study.
