The chemical constituents of ethyl acetate from Hypericum himalaicum were isolated by silica gel column chromatography, gel column chromatography, and high-performance liquid chromatography. The structure of the isolated compounds was identified by modern spectral techniques(NMR, MS, IR, and UV), and the potential anti-inflammatory targets and action pathways were analyzed and predicted by network pharmacology and molecular docking methods.Ten compounds were isolated from H. himalaicum and identified as 5,9,11-trihydroxy-3,3-dimethyl-3H,8H-benzo[6,7][1,4]dioxepino[2,3-f]chromen-8-one(1), betulinic acid(2), demethyltorosaflavone C(3), kaempferol(4), quercetin(5), hyperwightin B(6), toxyloxanthone B(7), 1,7-dihydroxy-xanthone(8), emodin(9), and 1,7-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-xanthone(10). Among them, compound 1 was a new compound, and compounds 2-10 were isolated from H. himalaicum for the first time. Network pharmacology screened 60 key anti-inflammatory targets. By acting on TNF, AKT1, CASP3, and other key targets, involving PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, VEGF signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, and other signaling pathways, and phosphorylation, cell migration and movement, protein tyrosine kinase, and other biological processes were regulated to achieve anti-inflammatory effects. The results of molecular docking show that the above components have good binding properties with the core targets.

Penthorum chinense Pursh (PCP), as a traditional medicine of Miao nationality in China, is often used for the treatment of various liver diseases. At present, information regarding the in vivo process of PCP is lacking. Herein, a sensitive and robust ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem with mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was developed and validated for the quantification of several components to study their pharmacokinetics, tissues distribution and excretion in normal and acute alcoholic liver injury (ALI) rats. Prepared samples were separated on a Thermo C18 column (4.6 mm × 50 mm, 2.4 µm) using water containing 0.1 % formic acid (A) and acetonitrile (B) as the mobile phase for gradient elution. Negative electrospray ionization was performed using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode for each component. The validated UPLC-MS/MS assay gave good linearity, accuracy, precision, recovery rate, matrix effect and stability. This method was successfully applied to the pharmacokinetics, tissue distribution and excretion in normal and acute ALI rats. There were differences in pharmacokinetic process, tissue distribution and excretion characteristics, indicating that ALI had a significant influence on the in vivo process of PCP in rats. The research provided an experimental basis for the study of PCP quality control and further application in the clinic.

Keshan disease (KD) is a type of endemic cardiomyopathy with an unknown cause. It is primarily found in areas in China with low selenium levels, from northeast to southwest. The nutritional biogeochemical etiology hypothesis suggests that selenium deficiency is a major factor in KD development. Selenium is important in removing free radicals and protecting cells and tissues from peroxide-induced damage. Thus, low environmental selenium may affect the selenium level within the human body, and selenium level differences are commonly observed between healthy people in KD and nonKD areas. From the 1970s to the 1990s, China successfully reduced KD incidence in endemic KD areas through a selenium supplementation program. After years of implementing prevention and control measures, the selenium level of the population in the KD areas has gradually increased, and the prevalence of KD in China has remained low and stable in recent years. Currently, the pathogenesis of KD remains vague, and the effect of selenium supplementation on the prognosis of KD still needs further study. This paper comprehensively reviews selenium deficiency and its connection to KD. Thus, this study aims to offer novel ideas and directions to effectively prevent and treat KD in light of the current situation.

Over the past three decades, studies have shown that consuming polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) can enhance animal and human health and welfare through biological, biochemical, pathological, and pharmacological impacts. Furthermore, omega-6 plays key roles in the cardiopulmonary system, including promoting airway relaxation and inhibiting atherosclerosis and hypertension. However, findings from investigations of the effects of omega-6 fatty acids on molecular and cellular activity and discussions on their influence on biomarkers are still unclear. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate omega-6 fatty acids, the arachidonic acid (AA), and linoleic acid (LA) effects on C2C12 proliferation, myogenesis morphology, and relative myogenic biomarker expression through the Wnt pathway. C2C12 cells were cultured with and without 25, 50, 100, and 150 µM of LA and AA and then subjected to CCK8, Giemsa staining, RT qPCR, Western blotting, and RNA Sequencing. The CCK8 Assay results showed that 25, 50, 100, and 150 µM LA significantly decreased the viability after 72 h for 25, 50, 100, and 150 µM concentrations. Also, AA supplementation decreased cell viability after 24 h for 150 µM, 48 h for 150 µM, and 72 h for 50, 100, and 150 µM concentrations. Moreover, the LA and AA inhibitory effects noticed through Gimesa staining were morphological changes during myoblast differentiation. Both LA and AA showed inhibiting IGF1, Cola1, Col6a2, Col6a1, Itga10, Itga11, SFRP2, DAAM2, and NKD2 effects; however, the depressing effect was higher for AA compared to LA. The previous results were confirmed through Western blotting, which showed that 50 µM LA and AA significantly reduced DAAM2 and SFRP2 protein levels compared to the control. Regarding RNA sequencing results, LA and AA increased the number of differentially expressed (DE) Mt-rRNA and snoRNA; however, the numbers of lncRNA detected decreased compared to the control. Our findings demonstrate that high and moderate LA and AA concentrations reduce primary myoblast proliferation and differentiation. Also, they highlight novel biomarkers and regulatory factors to improve our understanding of how the nutrition of fatty acids can control and modulate the myogenesis and differentiation process through different biomarker families.

Cellulolytic bacteria ferment dietary fiber into short-chain fatty acids, which play an important role in improving fiber utilization and maintaining intestinal health. Safe and effective cellulolytic bacteria are highly promising probiotic candidates. In this study, we isolated three strains of Bacillus cereus, which exhibited cellulolytic properties, from Kele pig feces. To assess the genetic basis of cellulose degradation by the isolates, whole-genome sequencing was used to detect functional genes associated with cellulose metabolism. Subsequently, we identified that the B. cereus CL2 strain was safe in mice by monitoring body weight changes, performing histopathologic evaluations, and determining routine blood indices. We next evaluated the biological characteristics of the CL2 strain in terms of its growth, tolerance, and antibiotic susceptibility, with a focus on its ability to produce short-chain fatty acids. Finally, the intestinal flora structure of the experimental animals was analyzed to assess the intestinal environment compatibility of the CL2 strain. In this study, we isolated a cellulolytic B. cereus CL2, which has multiple cellulolytic functional genes and favorable biological characteristics, from the feces of Kele pigs. Moreover, CL2 could produce a variety of short-chain fatty acids and does not significantly affect the diversity of the intestinal flora. In summary, the cellulolytic bacterium B. cereus CL2 is a promising strain for use as a commercial probiotic or in feed supplement. IMPORTANCE: Short-chain fatty acids are crucial constituents of the intestinal tract, playing an important and beneficial role in preserving the functional integrity of the intestinal barrier and modulating both immune responses and the structure of the intestinal flora. In the intestine, short-chain fatty acids are mainly produced by bacterial fermentation of cellulose. Therefore, we believe that safe and efficient cellulolytic bacteria have the potential to be novel probiotics. In this study, we systematically evaluated the safety and biological characteristics of the cellulolytic bacterium B. cereus CL2 and provide evidence for its use as a probiotic.

RESUMO

The genus Schisandra, a member of the Magnoliaceae family, is a well-known tonic traditional Chinese medicine with a long history of traditional medicinal and functional food used in China. Polysaccharides are one of its main active constituents, which have a wide range of bioactivities, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, neuroprotection, anti-diabetes, hepatoprotection, immunomodulation, and anti-fatigue. In this paper, we review the extraction, isolation, purification, structural characterization, bioactivities, as well as structure-activity relationship of polysaccharides from the genus Schisandra. In conclusion, we hope that this review could provide reference for the subsequent research on structural, bioactivities, development and application of the genus Schisandra polysaccharides.

BACKGROUND: The liver is an important metabolic and digestive organ in the human body, capable of producing bile, clotting factors, and vitamins. AIM: To investigate the recovery of gastrointestinal function in patients after hepatobiliary surgery and identify effective rehabilitation measures. METHODS: A total of 200 patients who underwent hepatobiliary surgery in our hospital in 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into a control group and a study group based on the extent of the surgery, with 100 patients in each group. The control group received routine treatment, while the study group received targeted interventions, including early enteral nutrition support, drinking water before gas discharge, and large bowel enema, to promote postoperative gastrointestinal function recovery. The recovery of gastrointestinal function was compared between the two groups. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, patients in the study group had better recovery of bowel sounds and less accumulation of fluids in the liver bed and gallbladder fossa (P < 0.05). They also had shorter time to gas discharge and first meal (P < 0.05), higher overall effective rate of gastrointestinal function recovery (P < 0.05), and lower incidence of postoperative complications (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Targeted nursing interventions (early nutritional support, drinking water before gas discharge, and enema) can effectively promote gastrointestinal function recovery in patients undergoing hepatobiliary surgery and reduce the incidence of complications, which is worthy of promotion.

The study of exogenous and endogenous nanoscale magnetic material in biology is important for developing biomedical nanotechnology as well as for understanding fundamental biological processes such as iron metabolism and biomineralization. Here, we exploit the magneto-optical Faraday effect to probe intracellular magnetic properties and perform magnetic imaging, revealing the location-specific magnetization dynamics of exogenous magnetic nanoparticles within cells. The opportunities enabled by this method are shown in the context of magnetic hyperthermia; an effect where local heating is generated in magnetic nanoparticles exposed to high-frequency AC magnetic fields. Magnetic hyperthermia has the potential to be used as a cellular-level thermotherapy for cancer, as well as for other biomedical applications that target heat-sensitive cellular function. However, previous experiments have suggested that the cellular environment modifies the magnetization dynamics of nanoparticles, thus dramatically altering their heating efficiency. By combining magneto-optical and fluorescence measurements, we demonstrate a form of biological microscopy that we used here to study the magnetization dynamics of nanoparticles in situ, in both histological samples and living cancer cells. Correlative magnetic and fluorescence imaging identified aggregated magnetic nanoparticles colocalized with cellular lysosomes. Nanoparticles aggregated within these lysosomes displayed reduced AC magnetic coercivity compared to the same particles measured in an aqueous suspension or aggregated in other areas of the cells. Such measurements reveal the power of this approach, enabling investigations of how cellular location, nanoparticle aggregation, and interparticle magnetic interactions affect the magnetization dynamics and consequently the heating response of nanoparticles in the biological milieu.

Neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs) are fibrous networks formed by neutrophils after a procedure called NETosis, with the function of capturing and killing pathogens. NETs are widely involved in the pathological processes of major diseases such as immune system diseases, respiratory diseases, metabolic diseases, cancers, and reperfusion injury. Therefore, regulating NETs has become one of the important ways to prevent and treat the above diseases. As an excellent traditional culture in China, traditional Chinese medicine has made outstanding contributions to the treatment of diseases. In recent years, studies have discovered that a variety of active components in traditional Chinese medicines, Chinese medicine compound prescriptions, and single traditional Chinese medicines can alleviate the symptoms by regulating NETs in the pathological process of major diseases. This article reviews the research progress in the regulation of NETs by the active components of traditional Chinese medicines, Chinese medicine compound prescriptions, and single traditional Chinese medicines in the last five years, aiming to serve as a reference for related research.

The article summarizes the relevant factors to the therapeutic effect of moxibustion on knee osteoarthritis, including the origin and storage time of moxa leaves, the time of moxibustion, the numbers of moxa cone, and the temperature when moxibustion is operated. Artemisia mugwort in Qichun county stored for over 3 years is the best regarding its property; and it is recommended for about 40 min in suspended moxibustion; and the heat-sensitive moxibustion is determined when the sensation of moxibustion disappears; and in terms of moxibustion techniques and the numbers of moxa cone, two moxa cones are optimal in warm needling, but the highly applicable duration of moxibustion needs to be confirmed through more high-quality studies. There are few studies on the other influencing factors, such as the specific operation of suspended moxibustion, the angle of knee flexion, treatment sequence, light and smoking factors, moxibustion method and disease staging and type; and the studies are limited in the comparison in terms of the middle-term and long-term efficacy, the comparison of the efficacy among different syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine in patients and the comparison among various frequencies and sessions of treatment. In future, more high-quality clinical trials should be designed to complete the evidence-based regimens and optimize clinical operations.

Cancer poses a significant challenge to global public health, seriously threatening human health and life. Although various therapeutic strategies, such as chemotherapy (CT), radiotherapy, phototherapy, and starvation therapy, are applied to cancer treatment, their limited therapeutic effect, severe side effects, and unsatisfactory drug release behavior need to be carefully considered. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop efficient drug delivery strategies for improving cancer treatment efficacy and realizing on-demand drug delivery. Notably, pillararenes, as an emerging class of supramolecular macrocycles, possess unique properties of highly tunable structures, superior host-guest chemistry, facile modification, and good biocompatibility, which are widely used in cancer therapy to achieve controllable drug release and reduce the toxic side effects on normal tissues under various internal/external stimuli conditions. This review summarizes the recent advance of stimuli-responsive supramolecular delivery systems (SDSs) based on pillararenes for tumor therapy from the perspectives of different assembly methods and hybrid materials, including molecular-scale SDSs, supramolecular nano self-assembly delivery systems, and nanohybrid SDSs. Moreover, the prospects and critical challenges of stimuli-responsive SDSs based on pillararenes for cancer therapy are also discussed.

In this work, a novel fluorescence sensor UiO-66-PSM based on post-synthetic modified metal-organic frameworks was prepared for the detection of berberine hydrochloride (BBH) in the traditional Chinese herb Coptis. UiO-66-PSM was synthesized by a simple Schiff base reaction with UiO-66-NH2 and phthalaldehyde (PAD). The luminescence quenching can be attributed to the photo-induced electron transfer process from the ligand of UiO-66-PSM to BBH. The UiO-66-PSM sensor exhibited fast response time, low detection limit, and high selectivity to BBH. Moreover, the UiO-66-PSM sensor was successfully applied to the quantitative detection of BBH in the traditional Chinese herb Coptis, and the detection results obtained from the as-fabricated fluorescence sensing assay were consistent with those of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), indicating that this work has potential applicability for the detection of BBH in traditional Chinese herbs.

BACKGROUND: The plant Ainsliaea fragrans Champ. (A. fragrans) named "Xingxiang Tuerfeng", is a traditional herb with a long history of therapeutic practice in southern China in the treatment of gynecological diseases. PURPOSE: The anti-inflammatory extract of Ainsliaea fragrans Champ. (AF-ext) exhibited anti-primary dysmenorrhea (PD) activity in oxytocin-induced mice. This study aimed to unravel the underlying mechanisms of AF-ext on PD by the integrative approach of network pharmacology and experimental verification. METHODS: First, the therapeutic targets of AF-ext are predicted using network pharmacology and molecular docking methods. Second, activity screening and immunoblotting methods were used for target validation. Then, the therapeutic effect of AF-ext on PD was evaluated using oxytocin-induced mice and uterine strips model. RESULTS: AF-p1, and AF-p2, the active ingredients of AF-ext, showed inhibitory effects on COX1/2 and EGFR, and all five active components showed antagonistic activity on TRPV1. AF-ext (25, 50, 100 mg/kg) could significantly reduce the number of writhing times and prolong writhing latencies in a dose-dependent manner. AF-ext inhibited spasmolytic activity in uterine strips induced by oxytocin and Ca2+ stimulation. AF-ext inhibited NF-κB/COX-2/PG pathway and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in PD mice. It significantly downregulated the PD-induced overexpression of p-p65/p65, p-IκBα, and COX-2 by inhibiting the NF-κB pathway. Moreover, the overexpression of NLRP3, p20/pro-Caspase 1, and p17/pro-IL-1ß was greatly downregulated. CONCLUSIONS: AF-ext demonstrated anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and spasmolytic activity in the treatment of PD. It inhibited the NF-κB/COX-2/PG pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in PD mice with a multi-target approach.

BACKGROUND: In our preliminary research on screening traditional Chinese medicine extracts for anti-H1N1 activity, we discovered that the 75 % ethanol extract of Callicarpa nudiflora Hook. & Arn (C. nudiflora) exhibited promising anti-H1N1 infection activity. However, the underlying active components and mechanism of action remain to be elucidated. AIM OF THE STUDY: This experiment further explores the potential active components and mechanisms of action of C. nudiflora against H1N1. METHODS: In this study, the composition of the C. nudiflora was determined using UPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS/MS. The inhibitory effect of C. nudiflora on H1N1 was investigated using a Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cell model infected with H1N1, and the protective effect of C. nudiflora on H1N1-infected mice was examined using a Balb/c mouse model infected with H1N1. The potential mechanisms of action were demonstrated at the mRNA and protein levels. RESULTS: A total of 21 compounds were detected in C. nudiflora, which was found to act on the replication stages of H1N1. Moreover, C. nudiflora improved the survival rate of H1N1-infected mice, enhanced the organ index, alleviated the trend of weight loss, reduced lung viral load, mitigated lung tissue damage, and regulated CD4/CD8 and Th1/Th2 immune balance. Molecular mechanism studies revealed that C. nudiflora can regulate the expression of key genes in the toll-like receptor and STAT signaling pathway. CONCLUSION: C. nudiflora can inhibit H1N1 replication. It also can exert a regulatory effect on the immune response of H1N1-infected mice, and mitigate inflammatory damage by modulating the expression of key genes in the toll-like receptor and STAT signaling pathways, indicating its potential for development as an anti-H1N1 drug.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether electroacupuncture (EA) at sensitized acupoints could reduce sympathetic-sensory coupling (SSC) and neurogenic inflammatory response by interfering with 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)ergic neural pathways to relieve colitis and somatic referred pain, and explore the underlying mechanisms. METHODS: Rats were treated with 5% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) solution for 7 days to establish a colitis model. Twelve rats were randomly divided into the control and model groups according to a random number table (n=6). According to the "Research on Rat Acupoint Atlas", sensitized acupoints and non-sensitized acupoints were determined. Rats were randomly divided into the control, model, Zusanli-EA (ST 36), Dachangshu-EA (BL 25), and Xinshu (BL 15) groups (n=6), as well as the control, model, EA, and EA + GR113808 (a 5-HT inhibitor) groups (n=6). The rats in the control group received no treatment. Acupuncture was administered on 2 days after modeling using the stimulation pavameters: 1 mA, 2 Hz, for 30 min, with sparse and dense waves, for 14 consecutive days. GR113808 was injected into the tail vein at 5 mg/kg before EA for 10 min for 7 consecutive days. Mechanical sensitivity was assessed with von Frey filaments. Body weight and disease activity index (DAI) scores of rats were determined. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to observe colon histopathology. SSC was analyzed by immunofluorescence staining. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect 5-HT and substance P (SP) expressions. The calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in skin tissue and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) protein levels in DRG were detected by Western blot. The levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), bradykinin (BK), prostaglandin I2 (PGI2) in skin tissue, 5-HT, tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (TPH1), serotonin transporters (SERT), 5-HT 3 receptor (5-HT3R), and 5-HT 4 receptor (5-HT4R) in colon tissue were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: BL 25 and ST 36 acupoints were determined as sensitized acupoints, and BL 15 acupoint was used as a non-sensitized acupoint. EA at sensitized acupoints improved the DAI score, increased mechanical withdrawal thresholds, and alleviated colonic pathological damage of rats. EA at sensitized acupoints reduced SSC structures and decreased TH and CGRP expression levels (P<0.05). Furthermore, EA at sensitized acupoints reduced BK, PGI2, 5-HT, 5-HT3R and TPH1 levels, and increased HA, 5-HT4R and SERT levels in colitis rats (P<0.05). GR113808 treatment diminished the protective effect of EA at sensitized acupoints in colitis rats (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: EA at sensitized acupoints alleviated DSS-induced somatic referred pain in colitis rats by interfering with 5-HTergic neural pathway, and reducing SSC inflammatory response.

In order to evaluate the genetic effect caused by hybrid sterile loci, NILs with O. glaberrima fragment at six hybrid sterile loci under O. sativa genetic background (single-locus-NILs) were developed; two lines harboring two hybrid sterile loci, one line harboring three hybrid sterile loci were further developed. A total of nine NILs were used to test cross with O. sativa recurrent parent, and O. glaberrima accessions respectively. The results showed that the sterility of pollen grains in F1 hybrids deepened with the increase of the number of hybrid sterile loci, when the nine lines test crossed with O. sativa recurrent parent. The F1 hybrids were almost completely sterile when three hybrid sterile loci were heterozygeous. On the other hand, the single-locus-NILs had limited bridge effect on improving pollen grain fertility of interspecific hybrids. Compared single-locus-NILs, the multiple-loci-NILs showed increasing effect on pollen fertility when test crossing with O. glaberrima accessions. Further backcrossing can improve the fertility of pollen grain and spikelet of interspecific hybrids. The optimal solution to improve the fertility of interspecific hybrid can be utilization of pyramiding bridge parent plus backcrossing. This report has potential for understanding the nature of interspecific hybrid sterility, and overcoming the interspecific hybrid F1 pollen grain sterility between O. sativa and O. glaberrima.

RESUMO

A total of 18% of global breast cancer (BC) deaths are attributed to BC in China, making it one of the five most common cancers there. There has been a steady rise in BC morbidity and mortality in women in the last few years and it is now a leading cancer among Chinese women. Conventional treatments for BC are currently effective but have several limitations and disadvantages, and Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) plays a vital role in the overall process of cancer prevention and therapy. It is known that TCM can treat a variety of conditions at a variety of sites and targets. In recent years, increasingly, research has been conducted on TCM's ability to treat BC. TCM has shown positive results in the treatment of breast cancer and the adverse effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. This review describes the progress of clinical observation and mechanism research of TCM in the treatment of breast cancer in recent years. It provides some ideas and theoretical basis for the treatment of BC with TCM.

Objective: To determine how a combination of auricular acupuncture, acupoint application and the Doula instrument affects numerical rating scale (NRS) scores, labour time of puerperae and the Apgar scores of newborns during natural delivery. Methods: This is a retrospective study. From January 2021 to December 2022, clinical data were collected from 90 healthy primiparae who completed natural delivery at Baoding Maternal and Child Health Hospital. They were divided into two groups based on different perinatal intervention methods. While the Doula instrument was used for the control group's perinatal intervention, the study group received a combination of auricular acupuncture, acupoint application and the Doula instrument during their perinatal period. Results: The NRS score of the study group was lower than that of the control group, demonstrating that their intergroup difference is statistically significant (P < 0.05). The incubation period, the active phase of the first stage of labour and the time of the second and third stages of work are shorter in the study group than in the control group (P < 0.05). Intergroup comparison of their one and five minutes Apgar scores demonstrates no statistically significant differences (P > 0.05). Expression levels in the study group are higher than in the control group five minutes after delivery (P < 0.05). Conclusions: In this case, a perinatal intervention comprising auricular acupuncture, acupoint application and the Doula instrument was used for puerperae undergoing natural delivery.

Melatonin (MT) is regarded as an antioxidant and immunostimulant that can efficiently scavenge free radicals and activate antioxidant enzymes. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary MT on the growth performance and immune function of the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Six groups of L. vannamei were supplemented with dietary MT at 0, 22.5, 41.2, 82.7, 165.1, and 329.2 mg/kg levels for 2 months. RNA-Seq analysis was performed to obtain transcriptome data of the control group and the group supplemented with dietary MT at 82.7 mg/kg BW. In total, 1220 DEGs (799 up-regulated and 421 down-regulated) were identified. Pathways and genes related to growth performance and immune function were verified by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The total hemocyte count, phagocytosis rate, and respiratory burst were significantly increased in the MT (82.7 mg/kg BW) group as compared to the control group. Analysis of antioxidant-related enzymes in the hepatopancreas showed that dietary MT (82.7 mg/kg BW) significantly increased activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and catalase, while dietary MT at 41.2 mg/kg BW significantly increased activities of glutathione S-transferase, lysozyme (LZM), and phenoloxidase (PO). At the transcriptional level, dietary MT up-regulated expression levels of genes associated with antioxidant immunity and growth, which included PO, SOD, LZM, GPx, chitin synthase, ecdysone receptor, calcium-calmodulin dependent protein kinase I, and retinoid X receptor. In conclusion, dietary MT may improve the growth performance and immune function of L. vannamei to some extent.

The Compound Cheqian Tablets are derived from Cheqian Power in Comprehensive Recording of Divine Assistance, and they are made by modern technology with the combination of Plantago asiatica and Coptis chinensis. To investigate the material basis of Compound Cheqian Tablets in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy, in this study, the chemical components of Compound Cheqian Tablets were characterized and analyzed by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS, and a total of 48 chemical components were identified. The identified chemical compounds were analyzed by network pharmacology. By validating with previous literature, six bioactive compounds including acteoside, isoacteoside, coptisine, magnoflorine, palmatine, and berberine were confirmed as the index components for qua-lity evaluation. Furthermore, the content of the six components in the Compound Cheqian Tablets was determined by the "double external standards" quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker(QAMS), and the relative correction factor of isoacteoside was calculated as 1.118 by using acteoside as the control; the relative correction factors of magnoflorine, palmatine, and berberine were calculated as 0.729, 1.065, and 1.126, respectively, by using coptisine as the control, indicating that the established method had excellent stability under different conditions. The results obtained by the "double external standards" QAMS approximated those obtained by the external standard method. This study qualitatively characterized the chemical components in the Compound Cheqian Tablets by applying UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS and screened the pharmacodynamic substance basis for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy via network pharmacology, and primary pharmacodynamic substance groups were quantitatively analyzed by the "double external stan-dards" QAMS method, which provided a scientific basis for clarifying the pharmacodynamic substance basis and quality control of Compound Cheqian Tablets.
