RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To explore the clinical effect of Yang's pricking-cupping therapy and its central mechanism in treatment of eczema-induced pruritus using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). METHODS: Fifty patients with eczema-induced pruritus were enrolled in the observation group, and 50 healthy subjects were enrolled in the control group. No any intervention was delivered in the control group. Yang's pricking-cupping therapy was operated at Dazhui (GV 14) and bilateral Quchi (LI 11), Xuehai (SP 10) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), once a week, lasting 6 weeks in the observation group. The scores of the 12-item pruritus severity scale (12-PSS), the eczema area and severity index (EASI), the dermatology life quality index (DLQI), the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) were compared before and after treatment in the observation group. The rs-fMRI scanning was conducted and the regional homogeneity (ReHo) analysis performed in all of the participants before and after treatment in the observation group, as well as at the time of subject enrollment in the control group. The correlation was analyzed between ReHo values in the different areas of the brain and the scores of the above scales. RESULTS: Compared with those before treatment, the scores of 12-PSS, EASI, DLQI, PSQI, and SAS were reduced after treatment in the observation group (P<0.01, P<0.05). ReHo values were increased in the right caudate nucleus, the right middle temporal gyrus, the right orbitofrontal gyrus, the right thalamus and the left angular gyrus before treatment in the observation group when compared with those in the control group (P<0.001); and ReHo values in the above areas of the brain were decreased after treatment when compared with those before treatment in the observation group (P<0.001). In comparison with the control group, ReHo values were reduced in the left middle temporal gyrus, the left superior parietal lobule and the left supplementary motor area in the observation group before treatment (P<0.001); while when compared with those before treatment, ReHo values in the above areas of the brain were elevated after treatment in the observation group (P<0.001). Before treatment, ReHo value in the left supplementary motor area was positively correlated with 12-PSS score (r=0.432, P=0.004), and the value in the right orbitofrontal gyrus was negatively correlated with PSQI score (r=-0.318, P=0.04) in the observation group. After treatment, ReHo value in the left superior parietal lobule was positively correlated with 12-PSS score (r=0.384, P=0.012) in the observation group. CONCLUSIONS: The abnormal cerebral functional activities are exhibited in multiple areas of the brain involved in stimulus response, emotional regulation, behavior control and attention in the patients with eczema-induced pruritus. Yang's pricking-cupping therapy can effectively relieve the pruritus symptoms and skin lesions of the patients, which may be related to reversing the abnormal cerebral functional activities induced by pruritus.

RESUMO

In this paper, the Eu3+ -Eu2+ (4%, molar ratio)-doped xAl2 O3 -ySiO2 (x = 0-2.5, y = 1-5) and xAl2 O3 -zMgO (x = 0-1.5, z = 0-3) composites phosphors with different Al2 O3 to SiO2 (A/S) and Al2 O3 to MgO (A/M) ratios were prepared using a high-temperature solid-state reaction under air atmosphere. The effects of the A/S and A/M on luminescence properties, crystal structure, electron spin resonance, and Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates of the samples were systematically analyzed. These results indicated that the different A/S and A/M ratios in the matrix effectively affected the crystal phase, degrees of self-reduction of Eu3+ , and led the relative emission intensity of Eu2+ /Eu3+ to change and adjust.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate influence of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on nutritional status and immune function in early postoperative stage of liver transplantation including hepatic function, acute rejection and infection rate, in order to assess its safety in clinical use. METHODS: Sixty patients with non-malignant diseases of the liver in terminal stages were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group (rhGH treatment n=30) and control group (n=30). All the patients received the same nutritional support and immunodepressant treatment regimes. The patients in treatment group received rhGH 10 U hypodermically daily for 10 days 24 hours after liver transplantation. The following parameters including siderophilin, prealbumin, albumin, urea nitrogen, CD4/CD8, immunoglobulin G (IgG), IgM, IgA, growth hormone (GH), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), dosage of insulin to control blood sugar (8-10 mmol/L) were determined on 1st, 4th, 8th, 14th days after the operation, and acute rejection rate after 28 days of operation (confirmed by liver acupuncture biopsy), and infection rate were also assessed. RESULTS: Compared with control group, levels of siderophilin, prealbumin, CD4/CD8, GH, IGF-1 within 14 days in treatment group were increased significantly 14 days after the operation (all P<0.05), and level of urea nitrogen was decreased significantly (P<0.05). The level of albumin in treatment group was lower than that in control group 14 days after operation (P<0.05), while dosages of exogenous insulin were higher on 4th and 8th days after operation than that in control group (both P<0.05). There were no significant differences in levels of AST, ALT within 14 days, or acute rejection rate and infection rate within 28 days between two groups (all P>0.05). CONCLUSION: rhGH can accelerate recovery of nutritional status in the early liver transplantation period. It does not show superiority in improving immune function and influence on recovery of hepatic function, acute rejection or infection rate. The safety has been challenged by inducing high blood sugar as a side effect.

RESUMO

Uniform Gd2O3 : Eu3+ nanowires were fabricated by using anodic aluminum oxide template (AAO). The spectral measurements indicate that with the increasing annealing temperature the excitation band of Eu3+ in Gd2O3 : Eu3+ nanowires/AAO shifted blue, the intensity ratio of 5D0-7F2 to 5D0-7F1, decreased, and the lifetime became longer. In the sample annealed at 1000 degrees C two spectral components, the sharper and broader lines were identified, corresponding to two different local environments, the Eu3+ ions in cubic phase and in amorphous phase, respectively. The 5D0-7F1 transitions of Eu3+ ions in cubic phase had longer lifetime than that in amorphous phase. In contrast to the lifetime of the 5D0-7F(j) transitions in the bulk, that in Gd2O3 : Eu3+/AAO composite films increased due to influence of the surrounding media (AAO).
