RESUMO

Xieriga-4 Decoction, composed of dried rhizomes of Curcumae longae, barks of Phellodendron chinense or Phellodendron amurense, fruits of Cardenia jasminoides, and fruits of Tribulus terrestris, is a famous prescription of traditional Mongolian medicine for the treatment of urinary system diseases such as frequent urination, urgent urination, urine occlusion, hematuria, bladder irritation and pain. This paper reviewed Xieriga-4 Decoction from the aspects of historical description, prescription principle, chemical components, pharmacology, clinical application and quality control.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the protective effect of different doses of left carnitine on cardiomyocyte function in children with viral myocarditis.Methods94 cases of children with viral myocarditis were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table, 47 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with fructose 1,6-diphosphate(100~250mg/kg, add 150mL of 10% glucose in intravenous infusion, 1times/d) combined with left carnitine.Large dose group of left carnitine 100 mg/kg, low dose group 50mg/kg, all added 150mL of 5% glucose intravenous infusion, 1 times/d.The total effective rate, creatine kinase(CK), creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), cardiac ejection fraction(EF), ventricular short axis shortening (FS) And the total incidence of adverse reactions were compared between two groups.ResultsThe total effective rates of two group were 93.62% and 87.23%.The level of CK,CK-MB,LDH in two groups were significantly decreased after treatment of two weeks(P<0.05), EF, FS were increased after treatment of two weeks(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in CK, CK-MB, LDH, EF and FS between the high dose group and the low dose group after treatment of two weeks. The overall incidence of adverse reactions in the high dose group was 25.53%, which was lower than that in the low dose group (8.51%,P<0.05).ConclusionThe use of low-dose left carnitine in children with viral myocarditis can effectively remove free radicals, protect cardiomyocyte function and improve myocardial energy metabolism and cardiac function, and safer than high-dose groups.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effects of low frequency electroacupuncture on the P2X3 receptor expres-sion in dorsal root ganglion ( DRG) of rats with type II diabetic neuropathic pain. Methods Part 1:Fifty normal SD rats were randomly divided into normal group (8 rats) and model group (42 rats). The rat model of type II diabetic neuropathic pain was generated by high fat and high sugar diet with a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin ( STZ, 35 mg/kg) . 2 Hz electroacupuncture was administered at ipsilateral acupoints Zusanli and Kunlun for consecutive 7 days. Insulin sensitivity index ( ISI) was measured at 0 w and 5 w, and fasting plasma glucose ( FPG) was measured at 0 w, 5 w, and 7 w. Paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) was measured by mechanical pain threshold, and P2X3 receptor was determined by immunofluorescence. Part 2:Twelve rats with diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) were divided into EA + vehicle group (6 rats) and EA + αβ?meATP group (6 rats). Rats in the two groups received the same EA treatment as Part 1. Rats in the EA + αβ?meATP group were injected with P2X3 receptor agonistαβ?meATP (0. 6μmol/L, 100μL) into the ventral sur?face of each hind paw every time before EA treatment. Rats in the EA + vehicle group received the same dose of vehicle ( PBS buffer) as a control. Pain threshold of the rats were measured. Results ① Compared with the normal group, the ISI levels of the rats in DNP group was significantly decreased after 5 weeks of the high?fat high?sugar diet (P < 0. 01). Two weeks after STZ injection, the fasting plasma glucose levels in the rats receiving STZ were significantly elevated ( P <0. 01 ) . The type 2 diabetes model was established with a successful rate of 69. 04%. ②PWTs:The PWTs of rats in DNP group were reduced compared with rats in the normal group (P < 0. 01), indicating that the type 2 DNP model was suc?cessfully established. Compared with the PWTs of DNP?controlled rats, the 2 Hz electroacupuncture significantly increased bilateral PWT of rats subjected to DNP from day 3 after treatment (P < 0. 01). P2X3 receptor agonistαβ?meATP greatly reduced bilateral PWT of EA?treated DNP rats compared with that of the EA + vehicle group (P < 0. 01). ③The immu?nofluorescence essay showed that P2X3 receptor expression in bilateral L5 DRGs in the DNP group was significantly in?creased as compared with that in the normal group ( P < 0. 01 ) . The increases were inhibited by 2 Hz EA in L5 DRGs compared with the DNP group (P < 0. 01). Conclusions 2Hz electroacupuncture can effectively treat the type II diabet?ic neuropathic pain by decreasing the expression of L5 DRG P2X3 receptors in rats.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To identify the immunological characteristics of the recombinant major pollen allergen pTSX2 of Humulus scandens and evaluate its safety in immunotherapy of allergic asthma in mice.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Western blotting was used to characterize the immunological properties of pTSX2, and its immunogenicity in normal mice was evaluated by detecting sIgG and sIgE levels. The mouse models of allergic asthma were immunized with pTSX2 and examined for sIgE and sIgG levels, total cells and eosinophils percentage in BALF, interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) levels in BALF and spleen homogenate, and changes in lung pathologies.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Western blotting showed that pTSX2 reacted with the majority (about 70%) of sera from patients allergic to Humulus pollen. In normal mice, pTSX2 mainly induced the production of sIgG. In mouse models of allergic asthma, intervention with pTSX2 caused a significant reduction of sIgE and an increase of sIgG (P<0.05), significantly decreased the total cells and eosinophils in BALF (P<0.05), obviously lowered IL-4 but increased IFN-γ in BALF and spleen homogenate (P<0.05), and diminished inflammatory cell infiltration and percentage of eosinophils in the lung tissues.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>pTSX2 shows a definite therapeutic effect and safety in the treatment of allergic asthma in mice possibly by inhibiting sIgE and inducing sIgG production, suppressing airway allergic inflammation and regulating the balance between Thl and Th2.</p>
