RESUMO

A total of 16 detrusor hyperactivity with impaired contractility (DHIC) patients who received 12 weeks remote variable frequency stimulation (VFS) were enrolled at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from September 2020 to February 2021. The voiding diary, symptom score scales and incidence of complications were completed and recorded at baseline, constant frequency stimulation (CFS) and VFS phases. Compared with the CFS phase, voiding times, urge incontinence times and daily catheterization volume were reduced; average voiding amount and functional bladder capacity increased; and the quality of life score and mental health questionnaire assessment were improved in the VFS phase(all P<0.05). In the end, among all 16 patients, there were 14 whose symptoms had improved, and there were no new complications such as pain or infection at the implantation site, electrode displacement, and electric shock sensation in the stimulation area. VFS-SNM can not only improve the DHIC patients' lower urinary tract symptoms during storage and urination period, but also improve the patients' quality of life and satisfaction of the therapy.

RESUMO

The gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) plays an important role in the control of reproductive functions. Recent studies have reported the occurrence of GnRH molecular variants in numerous species. In this study, the GnRH1 gene from Jinghai yellow chicken was cloned by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and transformed into BL21 (DE3) competent cells. The GnRH1 gene and amino acid sequences were subjected to bioinformatic analyses. The GnRH1 gene nucleotide sequence was discovered to be 352 bp long, containing a coding, promoter, and section of the 3'-regions. The GnRH1 gene shared 93, 81, 54, 58, 61, 76, 76, 59, 76, and 66% sequence identity with Meleagris gallopavo, Columba livia, Homo sapiens, Bos taurus, swines, Capra hircus, Ovis aries, Pantholops hodgsonii, Equus caballus, and Rattus norvegicus, respectively. The GnRH1 gene showed conserved domains. The GnRH1 protein was a secreted protein comprising 92 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 10205.6 Da and a theoretical pI of 5.67. Most of the amino acid residues were observed to be hydrophilic, indicating water solubility. The predicted secondary structures of proteins included α-helices (h; 23.08%), ß-extensions (e; 10.92%), and random coils (c; 66.0%). The successful construction of prokaryotic expression vector pET32a-GnRH1 was confirmed by restriction and sequence analysis. SDS-PAGE analysis showed the successful expression of recombinant plasmid in Escherichia coli BL21 (molecular weight = 25-28 kDa). Larger quantities of protein were expressed in supernatant, indicating greater expression in soluble form. Western blot analysis confirmed the expression of the target protein.

RESUMO

Air sparging (AS) was explored for remediation of a petroleum contaminated semi-confined groundwater system in NE China. Physical, hydro-chemical and hydraulic behaviors in subsurface environment during AS were investigated with support of modeling to understand the hydrogeo-chemical impacts of AS on the aquifer. The responses of groundwater, dissolved oxygen and temperature indicated that the radius of influence of AS was up to 8-9 m, and a 3D boundary of the zone of influence (ZOI) was accordingly obtained with volume of 362 m(3). Water mounding unlike normal observations was featured by continuous up-lift and blocked dissipation. AS induced water displacement was calculated showing no obvious spreading of contaminant plume under this AS condition. Slug tests were employed before and after AS to reveal that the physical perturbation led to sharp increase in permeability and porosity. Modeling indicated that the regional groundwater flow field was not affected by AS except the physical perturbation in ZOI. Hydro-chemically increase of pH and Eh, and reduction of TDS, electrical conductivity and bicarbonate were observed in ZOI during AS. PHREEQC modeling inferred that these chemical phenomena were induced by the inorganic carbon transfer during air mixing.

RESUMO

The pharmacological effects of Tan Fu Kang oral liquor (TFK) was studied. The results indicated that TFK could protect the acute cerebral ischaemia and alleviate the damage of brain tissues. It was able to enhance the blood flow to the brain and improve the ischaemia and hypoxemia of brain tissues. TFK could improve blood viscosity and the meningeal microcirculation. These observation suggest that the protective effects of brain ischaemia of TFK was one of therapeutical mechanism of ischaemic apoplectic diseases.

RESUMO

Royal Made Ping An Dan (PAD) is a royal clandestine prescription of the Qing Dynasty Imperial hospital for emperors, empresses, ministers, imperial maids and eunuchs. Experimental study confirmed; (1) PAD had apparent peripheral effect in inhibiting vomiting and improving mental state (P < 0.05). (2) PAD possessed markedly sedative effect (P < 0.05). (3) PAD was able to strengthen the defence ability of gastric mucosa and decreased its damage induced by chemical irritation. (4) PAD could markedly relieve the spasm of intestinal smooth muscle in vitro. (5) PAD could inhibit the growth of common pathogenic bacteria in intestine and stomach such as B. coli and B. dysenteriae. (6) The study of toxicology suggested that PAD was safe for clinical use. The clinical results showed that PAD possessed the effect in preventing 274 persons on motion sickness. The total effective rate of PAD group was 83.9%, while that of Dramamine group was 60.8%. PAD revealed better effect than that of Dramamine. Therefore, the authors realize that PAD is a better preventive drug for motion sickness.

RESUMO

This paper presents the results of clinical observation and experimental research of Royal Made Ping An Dan (RPAD) of the Imperial Hospital of Qing Dynasty. The clinical results showed that RPAD was effective in treating 343 patients with motion sickness, and their average time for producing effect was 24.1 +/- 13.5 minutes. The total effective rates of dramamine group and Ren Dan group were 69.4% and 67.7% respectively, the latter included 45.7% of basically cured and 55.0% of markedly effective cases. There were significant differences among these groups (P < 0.05-0.01). It revealed that the effect of RPAD was better than that of dramamine and Ren Dan. According to laboratory findings, RPAD had the ability of alleviating symptoms of motion sickness and inhibiting eyeball tremor and improving meningeal microcirculation of experimental animals.

RESUMO

Pingandan was a secret prescription for treatment of stomach upset, nausea and vomiting for emperors in the Qing Dynasty of China. This study was to compare the effects of Pingandan with those of scopolamine and dramamine on motion sickness (MS) and nystagmus. Fourteen cats were tested in a parallel swing (0.22 Hz, 3.9 m/S2) for 20 min, and then in a rotating chair (10 degrees/S2, 20 rpm) for 1-2 min. The effects of scopolamine 1 mg, dramamine 25 mg and three doses of Pingandan 50x, 30x, 10x of 0.45 g/kg were observed and compared to placebos. These drugs or placebos were administered to each cat 30-60 min prior to the tests. The post-rotary nystagmus and MS symptoms were recorded. The Suri's scale for MS severity, Latin square and double blind techniques were used. The interval between any two tests was 2-5 days. It was found that Pingandan 50x and scopolamine 1 mg were more effective than placebos in reducing MS symptoms (P less than 0.01) and suppressing slow phase velocity of nystagmus (P less than 0.05), while Pingandan 30x significantly reduced MS symptoms only (P less than 0.01). Pingandan 10x and dramamine 25 mg had no anti-MS effect. Chinese medicine Pingandan is an effective anti-MS drug.
