RESUMO

Nanoformulations with endogenous/exogenous stimulus-responsive characteristics show great potential in tumor cell elimination with minimal adverse effects and high precision. Herein, an intelligent nanotheranostic platform (denoted as TPZ@Cu-SnS2-x /PLL) for tumor microenvironment (TME) and near-infrared light (NIR) activated tumor-specific therapy is constructed. Copper (Cu) doping and the resulting sulfur vacancies can not only improve the response range of visible light but also improve the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers and increase the carrier density, resulting in the ideal photothermal and photodynamic performance. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the introduction of Cu and resulting sulfur vacancies can induce electron redistribution, achieving favorable photogenerated electrons. After entering cells through endocytosis, the TPZ@Cu-SnS2-x /PLL nanocomposites show the pH responsivity property for the release of the TPZ selectively within the acidic TME, and the released Cu2+ can first interact with local glutathione (GSH) to deplete GSH with the production of Cu+ . Subsequently, the Cu+ -mediated Fenton-like reaction can decompose local hydrogen peroxide into hydroxyl radicals, which can also be promoted by hyperthermia derived from the photothermal effect for tumor cell apoptosis. The integration of photoacoustic/computed tomography imaging-guided NIR phototherapy, TPZ-induced chemotherapy, and GSH-elimination/hyperthermia enhanced chemodynamic therapy results in synergistic therapeutic outcomes without obvious systemic toxicity in vivo.

RESUMO

The medicinal plant Dendrobium nobile is an important natural antioxidant resource. To reveal the antioxidants of D. nobile, high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) was employed for metabolic analysis. The H2O2-induced oxidative damage was used in human embryonic kidney 293T (H293T) cells to assess intracellular antioxidant activities. Cells incubated with flower and fruit extracts showed better cell survival, lower levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and higher catalase and superoxide dismutase activities than those incubated with root, stem, and leaf extracts (p < 0.01). A total of 13 compounds were newly identified as intracellular antioxidants by association analysis, including coniferin, galactinol, trehalose, beta-D-lactose, trigonelline, nicotinamide-N-oxide, shikimic acid, 5'-deoxy-5'-(methylthio)adenosine, salicylic acid, isorhamnetin-3-O-neohespeidoside, methylhesperidin, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, and cis-aconitic acid (R2 > 0.8, Log2FC > 1, distribution > 0.1%, and p < 0.01). They showed lower molecular weight and higher polarity, compared to previously identified in vitro antioxidants in D. nobile (p < 0.01). The credibility of HPLC-MS/MS relative quantification was verified by common methods. In conclusion, some saccharides and phenols with low molecular weight and high polarity helped protect H293T cells from oxidative damage by increasing the activities of intracellular antioxidant enzymes and reducing intracellular ROS levels. The results enriched the database of safe and effective intracellular antioxidants in medicinal plants.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY RELEVANCE: San Hua Tang (SHT) was first mentioned in the book "The Collection of Plain Questions about Pathogenesis, Qi, and Life." SHT has the effect of dispelling wind and dredging collaterals, dredging viscera, and guiding stagnation, and is used in the treatment of ischemic stroke (IS). SHT is composed of Rheum palmatum L., Magnolia officinalis Rehder & E.H.Wilson, Citrus assamensis S.Dutta & S.C.Bhattacharya, and Notopterygium tenuifolium M.L.Sheh & F.T.Pu, which is the traditional prescription of the Tongxia method for the treatment of stroke. Tongxia is one of the "eight methods" used in traditional Chinese medicine, which plays a role in treating diseases by promoting gastrointestinal peristalsis and defecation. Studies have demonstrated a close relationship between gut microbiota metabolism and cerebral stroke; however, the role of SHT in IS treatment through gut microbiota or intestinal metabolites is unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY: To explore the connotation of the Xuanfu theory and clarify the mechanism underlying SHT-mediated opening Xuanfu methods. Through metabolomics, 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and molecular biology techniques, research on the changes in the gut microbiota and blood-brain barrier (BBB) will highlight greater strategies for the treatment of stroke. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We used pseudo-germ-free (PGF) rats combined with an ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) rat model for the follow-up experimental research. PGF rats were prepared by the intragastric administration of an antibiotic cocktail for 6 days, following which SHT was administered for 5 consecutive days. The I/R model was performed 1 day following the concluding administration of SHT. We detected the neurological deficit score, cerebral infarct volume, serum inflammatory factor levels (interleukin IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, and tumor necrosis factor alpha), tight junction-related proteins (Zonula occludens-1, Occludin, and Claudin-5), and small glue plasma cell-associated proteins (Cluster of Differentiation 16/Cluster of Differentiation 206, Matrix metalloproteinase, ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1, and C-X3-C Motif Chemokine Ligand 1) 24 h following I/R. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and non-targeted metabolomics analysis, we explored the relationship between fecal microecology and serum metabolites. Eventually, we analyzed the correlation between the gut microbiota and plasma metabolic profile as well as the mechanism underlying the SHT-mediated regulation of gut microbiota to protect the BBB following stroke. RESULTS: In IS treatment, SHT is principally involved in reducing neurological injury and the volume of cerebral infarction; protecting the intestinal mucosal barrier; increasing the levels of acetic acid, butyric acid, and propionic acid; promoting the transformation of microglia to the M2 state; reducing inflammatory reactions; and enhancing tight junctions. These therapeutic effects were not observed in the group treated with antibiotics alone or that treated with SHT in combination with antibiotics, thereby indicating SHT plays a therapeutic role through the gut microbiota. CONCLUSION: SHT regulates the gut microbiota, inhibits pro-inflammatory factors in rats with IS, alleviates an inflammatory injury of the BBB, and plays a protective role in the brain.

RESUMO

Increasing data has confirmed the potential anticancer properties of Dendrobium, a traditional Chinese herb. However, most anticancer compositions from the plant of Dendrobium were usually extracted by high polar solvent, while weak polar compositions with excellent anticancer activity remained largely unexplored. In this study, the differences between ether extract and ethanol extract of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. on chemical components and anticancer activities were investigated, as well as the anticancer mechanisms among different extracts. The results demonstrated that the ether extract exhibited a stronger anticancer effect than ethanol extract, and its anticancer effect was mainly due to weak polar compounds rather than polysaccharides and alkaloids. Quantitative proteomics suggested that the ether extract significantly stimulated the over-expression of immature proteins, the endoplasmic reticulum stress and unfolded protein response were subsequently induced, the intracellular reactive oxygen species level was seriously elevated, and oxidative stress occurred in the meanwhile. Eventually, autophagy and apoptosis were activated to cause cell death. Our findings demonstrate that the ether extract of D. nobile is a potential candidate for anticancer drug development, and that future research on anticancer drugs derived from medicinal plants should also concentrate on weak polar compounds.

RESUMO

Responsive nanosystems for tumor treatment with high specificity and sensitivity have aroused great attention. Herein, we develop a tumor microenvironment responsive and near-infrared (NIR)-activatable theranostic nanoreactor for imaging-guided anticancer therapy. The nanoreactor (SnO2-x@AGP) is comprised of poly(vinylpyrrolidine) encapsulated hollow mesoporous black SnO2-x nanoparticles coloaded with glucose oxidase (GOx) and 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS). The constructed nanoreactor can be specifically activated through endogenous H2O2 by an NIR-mediated "bursting-like" process to enhance its imaging and therapeutic functions. Black SnO2-x with abundant oxygen vacancies expedites effective separation of electron-hole pairs from energy-band structure and endows them with strong hyperthermia effect upon NIR laser irradiation. The generating toxic H2O2 with the assistance of GOx provides SnO2-x@AGP with the capacity of oxidative stress therapy. Ascended H2O2 can activate ABTS into ABTS•+. ABTS•+ not only possesses significant NIR absorption properties, but also disrupts intracellular glutathione to generate excessive reactive oxygen species for improved phototherapy, leading to more effective treatment together with oxidative stress therapy. Thus, SnO2-x@AGP with NIR-mediated and H2O2-activated performance presents tumor inhibition efficacy with minimized damage to normal tissues. These outstanding characteristics of SnO2-x@AGP bring an insight into the development of activatable nanoreactors for smart, precise, and non-invasive cancer theranostics.

RESUMO

In Brassicaceae, the papillary cells of the stigma are the primary site of the self-incompatibility (SI) responses. SI preserves the genetic diversity by selectively rejecting irrelevant or incompatible pollen, thus promoting cross fertilization and species fitness. Mechanisms that regulate SI responses in Brassica have been studied mainly on the mature stigma that often undermines how stigma papillary cells attain the state of SI during development. To understand this, we integrated PacBio SMRT-seq with Illumina RNA-seq to construct a de novo full-length transcriptomic database for different stages of stigma development in ornamental kale. A total of 48,800 non-redundant transcripts, 31,269 novel transcripts, 24,015 genes, 13,390 alternative splicing, 22,389 simple sequence repeats, 21,816 complete ORF sequences, and 4591 lncRNAs were identified and analyzed using PacBio SMRT-seq. The Illumina RNA-seq revealed 15,712 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 8619 transcription factors. The KEGG enrichment analysis of 4038 DEGs in the "incompatibility" group revealed that the flavonoid and fatty acid biosynthesis pathways were significantly enriched. The cluster and qRT-PCR analysis indicated that 11 and 14 candidate genes for the flavonoid and fatty acid biosynthesis pathways have the lowest expression levels at stigma maturation, respectively. To understand the physiological relevance of the downregulation of fatty acid biosynthesis pathways, we performed inhibitor feeding assays on the mature stigma. The compatible pollination response was drastically reduced when mature stigmas were pre-treated with a fatty acid synthase inhibitor. This finding suggested that fatty acid accumulation in the stigmas may be essential for compatible pollination and its downregulation during maturity must have evolved as a support module to discourage the mounting of self-incompatible pollen.

RESUMO

Dendrobium nobile is a beautiful orchid and a widely used medicinal plant. In vitro antioxidant assays suggested that D. noblie flower extracts showed significantly higher 2, 2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonate (ABTS) and 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging rates and much more ferric-reducing power than those of root, stem, leaf and fruit. To better understand the antioxidant basis of D. nobile flower, high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) was used for metabolic identification and quantification. Finally, there were 72 metabolites among the total of 712 identified components showed significant association (coefficient >0.8, p < 0.05) with ABTS scavenging rates, DPPH scavenging rates, and ferric-reducing power. The three enriched classes of flower metabolites, including amino acids and their derivatives, organic acids and their derivatives, and flavonoids, formed the main antioxidant basis. The significantly accumulated rutin, astragalin, isomucronulatol-7-O-glucoside, quercetin 4'-O-glucoside, methylquercetin O-hexoside, caffeic acid, caffeic acid O-glucoside, and p-coumaric acid (Log2(fold change) >2, p < 0.01, distribution in flower >0.1%) made a key contribution to the higher antioxidant activities in flower. The relative quantification results of HPLC-MS/MS were verified by the common quantification methods. The antioxidant basis revealed of D. nobile flower will be helpful in the production of healthy or beauty products.

RESUMO

Semimetallic nanomaterials as photothermal agents for bioimaging and cancer therapy have attracted tremendous interest. However, the poor photothermal stability, low biocompatibility, and single component limit their therapeutic efficiency in cancer treatment. Here, manganese-doped VSe2 semimetallic nanosheets were prepared and subsequently modified with chitosan (named VSe2/Mn-CS NSs) for combined enzyme catalytic and photothermal therapy. VSe2/Mn-CS NSs show high photothermal property with a photothermal conversion efficiency of 34.61% upon 808 nm near-infrared laser irradiation. In the tumor microenvironment, VSe2/Mn-CS NSs can convert endogenous H2O2 into lethal hydroxyl radicals (•OH) to induce cancer cell apoptosis. The interaction between glutathione (GSH) and Se-Se bonds in VSe2/Mn-CS NSs results in the depletion of GSH level, and the valence states transition of manganese ions is also beneficial for the GSH consumption. This dual depletion of GSH markedly enhances the peroxidase (POD) activity, leading to the high •OH production and the improved therapeutic effect. What is more, the T1-weighted magnetic resonance and photoacoustic imaging endow VSe2/Mn-CS NSs with the ability to guide and track the treatment process. Our study provides a research strategy for the application of semimetallic nanomaterials in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

RESUMO

ETHNIC PHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Plant materials are used as complementary and alternative therapies all over the world for the treatment of various diseases. Ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic nonspecific inflammatory bowel disease listed as one of the modern refractory diseases by the World Health Organization, has a long course, is challenging to cure, and is prone to cause cancer. Recent years have witnessed a growing trend of applying traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to UC. AIM OF THIS REVIEW: This review presents an overview of the pathogenesis of UC and reports the therapeutic effect of TCM on UC (including TCM prescriptions, single TCM, and treatments using TCM ingredients) to provide a theoretical basis for the use of TCM in treating UC. METHODS: We performed a collection and collation of relevant scientific articles from different scientific databases regarding TCM and its usefulness in treating UC. In this paper, the therapeutic effect of TCM is summarized and analyzed according to the existing experimental and clinical research. RESULTS: There are positive signs that TCM primarily regulates inflammatory cytokines, intestinal flora, and the immune system, and also protects the intestinal mucosa. Hence, it can play a role in treating UC. CONCLUSION: TCM has a definite curative effect in the treatment of UC. It can alleviate and treat UC in a variety of ways. We should take syndrome differentiation and treatment differentiation as the basis. With the help of modern medicine, TCM's clinical curative effects can be enhanced for the treatment of UC.

RESUMO

Smart nanotheranostic systems (SNSs) have attracted extensive attention in antitumor therapy. Nevertheless, constructing SNSs with disease diagnosis ability, improved drug delivery efficiency, inherent imaging performance, and high treatment efficiency remains a scientific challenge. Herein, ultrasmall tin dioxide (SnO2) was assembled with upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) to form mesoporous nanocapsules by an in situ hydrothermal deposition method, followed by loading with doxorubicin (DOX) and modification with bovine serum albumin (BSA). pH/near-infrared dual-responsive nanotheranostics was constructed for computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging-induced collaborative cancer treatment. The mesoporous channel of SnO2 was utilized as a reservoir to encapsulate DOX, an antineoplastic drug, for chemotherapy and as a semiconductor photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy (PDT). Furthermore, the DOX-loaded UCNPs@SnO2-BSA nanocapsules combined PDT, Nd3+-doped UCNP-triggered hyperthermia effect, and DOX-triggered chemotherapy simultaneously and demonstrated prominently enhanced treatment efficiency compared to the monotherapy model. Moreover, tin, as one of the trace elements in the human body, has a similar X-ray attenuation coefficient to iodine and therefore can act as a contrast agent for CT imaging to monitor the treatment process. Such an orchestrated synergistic anticancer treatment exhibited apparent inhibition of tumor growth in tumor-bearing mice with negligible side effects. Our study demonstrates nanocapsules with excellent biocompatibility and great potential for cancer treatment.

RESUMO

The clinical application of photothermal therapy (PTT) is severely limited by the tissue penetration depth of excitation light, and enzyme therapy is hampered by its low therapeutic efficiency. As a two-dimensional ultrathin nanosheet with high absorbance in the near-infrared-II (NIR-II) region, the titanium carbide (Ti3C2) nanosheet can be used as a substrate to anchor functional components, like nanozymes and nanodrugs. Here, we decorate Pt artificial nanozymes on the Ti3C2 nanosheets to synthesize Ti-based MXene nanocomposites (Ti3C2Tx-Pt-PEG). In the tumor microenvironment, the Pt nanoparticles exhibit peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity, which can in situ catalyze hydrogen peroxide to generate hydroxyl radicals (•OH) to induce cell apoptosis and necrosis. Meanwhile, the composite shows a desirable photothermal effect upon NIR-II light irradiation with a low power density (0.75 W cm-2). Especially, the POD-like activity is significantly enhanced by the elevated temperature arising from the photothermal effect of Ti3C2Tx. Therefore, satisfactory synergistic PTT/enzyme therapy has been accomplished, accompanied by an applicable photoacoustic imaging capability to monitor and guide the therapeutic process. This work may provide an approach for hyperthermia-amplified nanozyme catalytic therapy, especially based on metal catalysts and MXene nanocomposites.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to explore the correlation between agronomic traits and quality indexes of Dendrobium nobile and its application value in agricultural breeding. The cultivated strains of D. nobile in Hejiang-Chishui producing areas were extensively collected, and the main agronomic traits and quality indexes were measured. The agronomic traits with significant correlation with quality indexes were screened out by the correlation analysis, and then the parental lines and self-bred F_1 generation plants were furtherverified. Among 96 lines of D. nobile, the content of soluble polysaccharides showed a significant negative correlation with dendrobine( P < 0. 01),and no significant correlation with agronomic traits in stems and leaves. The content of dendrobine exhibited a significant positive correlation with the stem width-thickness ratio( at the largest cross section; P < 0. 01),and no significant correlation with other agronomic traits. Regression analysis further verified the positive correlation between dendrobine content and stem width-thickness ratio( R2> 0. 9). Two lines,JC-10 and JC-35,with significant differences in stem width-thickness ratio were screened out( P <0. 05). The corresponding F1 generation plants by self-pollination both showed that the dendrobine content was higher with greater stem width-thickness ratio( P < 0. 01). The experimental results suggested that within a certain range, the dendrobine content was higher in D. nobile with flatter stem. Therefore,in the breeding of D. nobile, this specific trait could be used for screening plants with high content of quality indexes such as dendrobine.

RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects 50 million people worldwide. The current medicines have modest benefits in preventing or curing AD. Thus, it is urgent to discover drugs with the potential to change the progression of the disease. The primary clinical symptoms are memory loss and anxiety, while the critical pathological characteristics are Aß plaques and hyperphosphorylated tau tangles. In this study, isobavachalcone (ISO), isolated from Psoralea corylifolia, was administered to 3×Tg-AD mice. It has been shown that this compound could significantly improve anxiety, memory and recognition deficits in the AD mice, attenuate the accumulation of Aß oligomers, reduce the hyperphosphorylation of tau, and prevent the production of tau filaments. The metabolomic analysis implicates that the most probable pathways affected by ISO were bile secretion, tyrosine metabolism, and purine metabolism. In summary, ISO possesses the potential for further development as a drug candidate for AD.

RESUMO

Dendrobium liquor obtained by soaking Dendrobium in Chinese liquor is considered as a health drink in China. Here, we found the pretreatment of extract of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. liquor (DNLE) attenuated the oxidative damage to cells caused by H2 O2 , while the abilities of DNLE of eliminating extracellular free radicals and promoting the activities of intracellular antioxidant enzymes were observed. Quantitative proteomics identified 375 differentially expressed proteins caused by H2 O2 treatment in 293T cells. However, only 12 differentially expressed proteins were found in DNLE-pretreated cells which under the same oxidative damage. This suggested that the pretreatment of DNLE could suppress the disorder of protein expressions caused by oxidative stress which could induce cell death. Besides, DNLE was helpful for avoiding the unfolded protein response (UPR) and cell cycle disorder caused by oxidative stress. Taken together, these results demonstrated that Dendrobium liquor could be a healthy herbal drink with antioxidant function. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: Dendrobium is used as an edible herb and a tonic food in traditional Chinese medicine. Dendrobium liquor obtained by soaking Dendrobium with Chinese liquor is also regarded as a nourishing health drink. However, there is rare research data on biological activity of Dendrobium liquor. Our current results demonstrated that the extract of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. liquor (DNLE) possessed the ability of eliminating free radicals in/out the human cells. More importantly, DNLE could help cells to resist the interference on cell life activities caused by oxidative stress. Since many evidences suggested that oxidative stress is linked to human disease and aging, and chemical antioxidant has some side effects on health, Dendrobium liquor can serve as a natural health drink with antioxidant function. Furthermore, the active ingredients in DNLE also possess the potential to be developed as natural antioxidant additive in food and cosmetics.

RESUMO

Dendrobium nobile is an important medicinal food beneficial for human health, well known for polysaccharides and dendrobine. For fast, accurate, and comprehensive comparison of its quality, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprinting method was constructed. Firstly, spring frost stressed D. nobile herb was observed for assessment. Decreased leaf thickness, chlorophyll, and drying rate, and increased free-proline indicated heavy damages on growth. But, the content of polysaccharides increased significantly in during-frost (DF), and dropped significantly in after-frost (AF). The content of dendrobine accumulated significantly in AF. Then, low similarity among HPLC fingerprints of before-frost (BF), DF, and AF, and 75.82% of significantly variant peaks indicated the changing of much more components. Especially, some less-polar components increased significantly in DF, but not in AF. Moreover, the highest suppression rates (SRs) to A549 lung cancer cells were up to 33.08% in DF, but only 15.63% and 12.12% in BF and AF. After association analysis, eleven less-polar components were found to be significantly and positively correlated to SRs under relatively high concentration. The result shows that frost stress not only causes damages to plant growth, but also promotes the accumulation of some health-beneficial bioactive metabolites. HPLC based fingerprinting method shows good applicability on quality evaluation and bioactivity correlation analysis of complexed agricultural products.

RESUMO

Dendrobium denneanum have been used for a long time as rare medicinal herbs in traditional Chinese medicine. Our previous works found that ether extract of D. denneanum had higher anticancer activities than alcohol or water extract, thus with better development prospects. Quantitative proteomics based on SILAC technique was used to investigate the anticancer mechanism of D. denneanum on lung tumor cell line A549,and 4 855 proteins were detected in A549 cells. Quantitative proteomics experiments found that 193 proteins of A549 cells were up-regulated,and 44 proteins were down-regulated by ether extract of D. denneanum. Those proteins are associated with synthesis, transport and metabolism of biological macromolecules, chaperone,DNA repair, oxidoreductase, cell adhesion, cell cycle, apoptosis and autophagy. Through the function analysis of differentially expressed proteins,it was inferred that ether extract of D. denneanum caused cell protein metabolism disorder, endoplasmic reticulum stress response, abnormal self-repair mechanism of cells, damage of cell adhesion and proliferation; besides,it caused a dramatic increase in ROS level in A549 cells, and upset the balance of intracellular oxidation reduction system. Affected by the above factors, lung cancer cells initiated apoptosis and autophagy, which accelerated cell death. This research explains the anticancer mechanism of D. denneanum from the perspective of quantitative proteomics, and lays a foundation for future research and development of new anticancer drugs based on ether extract of D. denneanum.

RESUMO

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different selenomethionine (SM) forms and levels on productive performance and antioxidant status of broiler breeders and its offspring. Four hundred eighty 48-week-old Lingnan Yellow broiler breeders were randomly divided into four groups, provided basal diet with 0.15 or 0.30 mg/kg Se coming from two SM forms of DL-SM and L-SM. The experiment included a 4-week pretreatment period and an 8-week trial period. During the trial period, eggs were incubated once a week under standard conditions. The broiler breeders were slaughtered after the trial period. At the same time, 15 1-day-old chicks were selected at random per replicate and killed. The results showed that different SM forms and levels had no significant differences in average egg weight, feed intake, and feed-to-egg ration. The DL-SM group in contrast to the L-SM group induced a notable elevation of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity in serum (P < 0.01) and liver (P < 0.05), and the 0.15 mg/kg group had higher GPx activity than 0.30 mg/kg in serum (P < 0.01) and pancreas (P < 0.05). Different SM forms showed no significant differences in total antioxidant capability (T-AOC). Diets with 0.15 mg/kg Se exhibited a higher level of T-AOC in serum (P < 0.01) and some tissues. Besides, malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations in serum, liver, and kidney significantly decreased due to the supplementation of DL-SM. Supplemental 0.15 mg/kg Se reduced MDA concentrations in kidney and muscle. The offspring of broiler breeders fed on DL-SM had higher GPx activity in liver and kidney than L-SM treatment. Supplemental 0.15 mg/kg Se also improved GPx activity in kidney and muscle and T-AOC in kidney of 1-day-old chicks. In summary, our study demonstrated that compared with L-SM, DL-SM was more effective for enhancing the antioxidant status of broiler breeders and its offspring. Moreover, the recommended level of Se supplementation was 0.15 mg/kg Se in Lingnan Yellow broiler breeder diets.

RESUMO

MAIN CONCLUSION: This review summarizes current knowledge of chromosome characterization, genetic mapping, genomic sequencing, quality formation, floral transition, propagation, and identification in Dendrobium. The widely distributed Dendrobium has been studied for a long history, due to its important economic values in both medicine and ornamental. In recent years, some species of Dendrobium and other orchids had been reported on genomic sequences, using the next-generation sequencing technology. And the chloroplast genomes of many Dendrobium species were also revealed. The chromosomes of most Dendrobium species belong to mini-chromosomes, and showed 2n = 38. Only a few of genetic studies were reported in Dendrobium. After revealing of genomic sequences, the techniques of transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics could be employed on Dendrobium easily. Some other molecular biological techniques, such as gene cloning, gene editing, genetic transformation and molecular marker developing, had also been applied on the basic research of Dendrobium, successively. As medicinal plants, insights into the biosynthesis of some medicinal components were the most important. As ornamental plants, regulation of flower related characteristics was the most important. More, knowledge of growth and development, environmental interaction, evolutionary analysis, breeding of new cultivars, propagation, and identification of species and herbs were also required for commercial usage. All of these studies were improved using genomic sequences and related technologies. To answer some key scientific issues in Dendrobium, quality formation, flowering, self-incompatibility and seed germination would be the focus of future research. And genome related technologies and studies would be helpful.
