RESUMO

Laser iridotherapy was carried out simultaneously with irradiation of immuno-competent zones on the integument of the human body in patients with stomach and duodenal ulcers. As a result of such treatment, it was discovered that laser therapy has immunomodulating action leading to the reduction of the ulcer cicatrisation period.

RESUMO

With the use of the developed opto-fiber spectroscope and gastroscope, the intensity of fluorescence from the ulcer surface into the gastrointestinal tract was measured in the range of 670-690 nm under the He-Ne laser (= 632.8 nm) illumination. Surface fluorescence data were collected with the use of a special diagnostic fiber with a total diameter of about 2 mm, which combines some illuminating and receiving fibers. To do the measurements, the diagnostic fiber was brought into a slight contact with the mucosa surface. The quantitative results were calculated with the use of the special fluorescent contrast coefficient (Kf), which takes into account the backscattered light as well. After the fluorescent diagnostic procedure, the low-level laser therapy was applied to all patients. It was found that: first of all, during the laser medical cure the registered fluorescence for the patients with a good dynamics of treatment had an evident tendency to a decrease, and the coefficient Kf for observed ulcers tended to approach the value obtained from normal mucosa (Kf), which indicates the normalization of the porphyrin content in the tissue. Second, the retrospective analysis of the efficacy of laser therapy versus initial values of Kf showed that, for the patients with the initial values Kf = 0.2, the efficiency of the laser treatment was the highest: the relation between the patients with good treatment results and bad ones was 4:1 (more than 80%). For the initial Kf = 0.2-0.3, this relation was 3:1 but for Kf = 0.4-0.5 it was 2:3. The differences in the efficiency of the low-level laser therapy, except the cases of the cancer in the ulcers, may be due to different content of porphyrin in the tissue: at high concentrations of the photosensitizer in the ulcer, the effect of the overdosing could be realized. In this case, another technology of laser illumination is needed. The results are discussed in terms of the free-radical conception of the stimulating effect of laser radiation.

RESUMO

AIM: To validate use of intravenous laser blood irradiation (ILBI) combined with actovegin administration in indolent gastroduodenal ulcers. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Modern endoscopic, morphological, device, biochemical techniques and radioimmunoassay were used in examination of 92 patients with indolent gastroduodenal ulcers aged 24 to 69 years. ILBI plus actovegin was given in failure of standard medicinal therapy. RESULTS: ILBI plus actovegin combination produced marked analgetic, anti-inflammatory and detoxication effects. Favourable trends were observed in the composition of gastric mucus, detoxication, reparative and metabolic processes in the gastroduodenal mucosa, neurohumoral regulation. CONCLUSION: Combination of ILBI with actovegin proved highly effective in indolent gastroduodenal ulcers.

RESUMO

Exacerbations of duodenal ulcer (DU) were treated outpatient in 130 DU sufferers who failed previous chemotherapy. The treatment consisted of acupuncture, laser therapy, diet and drugs. All the patients achieved remission, relief of vegetative disorders. DU healing took less time (by 7-10 days) than in control group. Application of the acupuncture and laser radiation allowed assignment of minimal drug doses. 3-year long-term results showed the absence of recurrences for 1-3 years. 87 DU patients gave up smoking after additional acupuncture according to the special regimen. The conclusion is made that acupuncture combined with laser therapy is effective against DU, safe and usable in outpatient setting.

RESUMO

An effect was studied of electromagnetic radiation of the millimetric wave band (EHF EMR) on ultrastructural processes of the mucosa and healing of ulcer in 10 patients with duodenal ulcer. Biopsy specimens were taken from the base of the margin of the ulcer and in the area 1 cm from the margin of the ulcer defect before the treatment, after 5 and 10 sessions of EHF EMR to acupuncture points. EHF EMR was found to exert a stimulating effect on the processes of ulcer regeneration. Seen after session 5 are layers of proliferating poorly differentiated enterocytes, activation of immune and autoimmune processes, normalization of the hemomicrovessel endothelial cell structure, filling in the ulcer defect with a newly formed granulation tissue in which, among fibroblasts, macrophages, mast cells and lymphocytes, there prevail plasmic cells with an augmented secretion of immunoglobulins, increase in proliferation of epitheliocytes, with their differentiation slowing down, and a complete epithelialization of the ulcer following ten treatment procedures.

RESUMO

Complex treatment of peptic ulcer with drugs and millimeter electromagnetic waves (MEW) allows to shorten stay in hospital by 2 weeks. Ambulatory MEW therapy may be effective even if used without any drugs, especially in young patients with fresh ulcer. Thus, MEW treatment is recommended by the authors to be widely applied for the treatment of peptic ulcer both in hospital and out-patient departments.
