Osteopoikilosis (OPK) is a rare autosomal dominant bone disorder characterized by numerous hyperostotic areas that tend to localize in periarticular osseous regions. It is usually asymptomatic and is often diagnosed incidentally during X-rays. OPK may be an isolated finding or associated with other pathologies, e.g. skin manifestations, rheumatic and/or skeletal disorders. We report a literature review and, for the first time, the coexistence of OPK with seronegative spondyloarthritis and Raynaud's phenomenon in a 48-year old female. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of OPK studied by videocapillaroscopy, demonstrating the absence of specific microvascular abnormalities of nailfold capillaries.

Osteopoikilosis (OPK) is a rare disease with an unknown etiology. Although a benign condition, it may lead to diagnostic problems when the patient undergoes diagnostic imaging of the skeletal system due to various reasons like malignancy. Herein, we report 2 cases with OPK causing difficulties in the final diagnosis of the cases which was resolved with the contribution of bone scintigraphy and clinical follow-up.

Osteopoikilosis (OPK) is a rare, autosomal dominant bone disorder, characterized by multiple, discrete round or ovoid radio densities scattered throughout the axial and appendicular skeleton. OPK is usually asymptomatic but rarely there may be slight articular pain and joint effusions. OPK is generally diagnosed incidentally on radiographic examinations and may mimic different bone pathologies, including bone metastases. Radionuclide bone scan has a critical role in distinguishing OPK from osteoblastic bone metastases. In this case report, we present a young man with right hip pain due to OPK, whose plain radiogram and computerized tomography findings thought cancer metastasis.

Osteopoikilosis is a rare, usually asymptomatic, autosomal-dominant bone disorder, which is generally diagnosed incidentally on X-ray. De Quervain's syndrome is a disorder characterized by pain on the radial (thumb) side of the wrist, impairment of thumb function and thickening of the ligamentous structure covering the tendons in the first dorsal compartment of the wrist. In this case report, we present a young woman with De Quervain's syndrome associated with osteopoikilosis.

INTRODUCTION: Osteopoikilosis is a rare, inherited and usually asymptomatic sclerosing bone dysplasia of unknown etiology which predominantly involves the appendicular and rarely the axial skeleton. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 24 year old man who was hospitalized for pleural empyema and treated with antibiotics for six weeks in addition to pleural evacuation and physiotherapy. The diagnosis of osteopoikilosis associated with the pleural empyema was made on the radiological findings. In fact the chest X-Ray showed spherical areas of increased bone density in both humeral epiphyses. In order to explore these bone abnormalities further investigations were performed, including red and white blood cell counts, sedimentation rate and protein electrophoresis. There were no biological abnormalities. Radiography of the whole skeleton showed disseminated sclerotic lesions in the pelvis and the metacarpal and carpal bones of both hands. A neoplastic aetiology was excluded. In the light of these investigations, the diagnosis of osteopoikilosis was established. CONCLUSION: Widespread osteopoikilosis can be revealed on chest radiography.

Osteopoikilosis was discovered in a 53-year-old patient who suffered a fracture of the right femoral neck. Plain X-rays demonstrated symmetrical bilateral stippling of variable size. No images were seen in the skull and spine. The fracture of the femoral neck was treated by total hip replacement. At surgery, the joint cartilage of the femoral head and the acetabulum had a normal aspect. Pathology examination of the femoral head demonstrated regular thick dense lamellae. Functional outcome at ten months was good (Postel-Merle-d'Aubigné score). Osteopoikilosis is an uncommon clinically latent condensing bone disease which can be revealed by bone fracture.

Osteopoikilosis is an uncommon, benign sclerosing bone dysplasia characterised by typical roentgenographic findings and usually seen in patients with dermatological problems. We report a case of osteopoikilosis and discoid lupus erythematosus presenting with skin and mucosal involvement, an association that has never previously been reported. We also discuss the differential diagnosis and the clinical pathologies accompanying osteopoikilosis in the literature.

Osteopoikilosis has always been described as a radiological finding of no clinico-biological significance with no deforming consequences for the skeleton. The authors present three cases with a past family history (mother suffered from osteopoikilosis and two sons with Buschke-Ollendorf syndrome) in whom we found alterations of phosphorus and calcium metabolism, this not having been previously reported in the literature.

We describe three cases of Connective tissue nevi in disseminated tumors, similar to those referred by de Graciansky and Leclercq . Although clinically similar, their different dermopathological pictures stand out, as does the fact that one showed osteopoikilid . We review the clinical and dermopathological features, nosology, associations, differential diagnosis and therapeutic procedures.
