RESUMO
This article describes an academic-clinical partnership program between a school of nursing and an American Nurse Credentialing Center Magnet®- and National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based on a shared vision and multifaceted for optimal new graduate operating room (OR) recruitment and use of clinical partner resources. The program, now in its 3rd year, has a 100% retention rate among the cohorts. Implementing a multifaceted OR partnership program based on nursing theory is a strategy for workforce development to increase retention of new graduate OR nurses.

This article describes a twinning relationship between the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) and the Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA). It argues that the twinning relationship strengthened both associations. The article briefly reviews the existing literature on professional associations and association strengthening to demonstrate that professional associations are a vital tool for improving the performance of healthcare workers and increasing their capacity to contribute to national and international policy-making. It then suggests that midwifery associations are particularly significant given the frequent professional marginalization of midwives. The article then describes in depth the relationship between CAM and TAMA, highlighting the accomplishments of the twinned partners, and analyzing the factors that contributed to the success of the relationship. The findings demonstrate that twinning can successfully strengthen associations, increasing their ability to support their membership, care for the public, and shape national policy-making. The article therefore proposes twinning as a successful and cost-effective model for encouraging the growth of the midwifery profession.

It is essential that nurses and midwives can understand and critically evaluate research to ensure the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care. Journal clubs are an educational method that helps to develop research capacity and assist with bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. To maintain competence and remain current with the latest evidence, a commitment to continuing professional education is required. This article describes how a successful journal club led to clinical nurses identifying a gap in their own practice, which resulted in a research project being conducted by the members of the journal club. AHNA Past-President Carla Mariano recently had the privilege of serving on the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Nursing Scope and Standards Revision Workgroup. Representing the specialty practice of holistic nursing, Carla's presence within this workgroup contributed greatly to the inclusion of holistic principles and values throughout the new 2015 Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 3rd edition, the foundational document that informs and guides professional nursing practice within the United States. This is a significant step forward for holistic nursing and an indicator of our growing influence as specialty practice.

Transforming iCoN into iCaN": This was the mantra for the student leaders of the University of Cincinnati Student Nurses' Association (UC SNA) for the past academic year. In March 2015, the UC SNA was awarded the Marilyn Bagwell Leadership Development Grant for the 2015-2016 academic year. Although this grant project encompassed nutrition education and improvement of healthy lifestyles for our nursing students for this past academic year, the UC SNA has promoted events in past years that involved increasing physical activity and healthy eating habits. However, the UC SNA student leaders felt strongly that it was very important to provide a more structured, holistic program for our students than to just offer sporadic events, and to make this the purpose of UC SNA. This thought process led to the variety of activities and events that were offered this past year. In 2013, the UC College of Nursing integrated AppleTM products into our learning, and coined the term "iCoN" to refer to this initiative. This was incorporated into the title of our project, as it truly encompassed multiple initiatives of the UC College of Nursing.
