RESUMEN

Well-orchestrated carbon nanostructure with superb stable framework and high surface accessibility is crucial for zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZIHCs). Herein, a hydrogen-bonded micelle self-assembly strategy is proposed for morphology-controllable synthesis of conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) derived carbon to boost zinc ion storage capability. In the strategy, F127 micellar assembly through intermolecular hydrogen bonds serves as structure-directed agents, directing CMPs' oligomers grow into nanospherical assembly. The nanospherical carbon frameworks derived from CMPs (CNS-2) have shown maximized surface accessibility due to their plentiful tunable porosity and hierarchical porous structure with abundant mesoporous interconnected channels, and superb stability originating from CMPs' robust framework, thus the CNS-2-based ZIHCs exhibit ultrahigh energy density of 163 Wh kg-1 and ultralong lifespan with 93 % capacity retention after 200, 000 cycles at 20 A g-1. Charged ion storage efficiency also lies in dual-ion alternate uptake of Zn2+ and CF3SO3- as well as chemical redox of Zn2+ with carbonyl/pyridine motifs forming O-Zn-N bonds. Maximized surface accessibility and dual-ion storage mechanism ensure excellent electrochemical performance. Thus, the hydrogen-bond-guide micelle self-assembly strategy has provided a facile way to design nanoarchitectures of CMPs derived carbon for advanced cathodes of ZIHCs.

Sports records play a crucial role in understanding the limits of human achievement in sports. However, a thorough exploration of a comprehensive analysis of various sports records utilizing the existing statistical model has been lacking. This study introduces a framework for analyzing the integrated features and evolutionary trends of 23 sports records for men and women. It includes world records and intercontinental records from six continents, covering 6440 athletes from 2001 to 2020. Our findings indicate that human beings have not yet reached sports limits in athletic performance, suggesting a continuous improvement over time. Furthermore, we have investigated the contributions of our model's parameters to the integrated features, emphasizing their robustness and convergence in handling data flow and information entropy. Additionally, our model underscores the significance of integrating various sports for ongoing advancement, in line with the Olympic motto "Together," thereby promoting coordinated development.

Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (A. sinensis) is a medicinal and edible values substance, which could promote blood circulation and enrich blood. It possesses rich chemical components and nutrients, which have significant therapeutic effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It is commonly used for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in the elderly, especially in improving ischemic damage to the heart and brain, protecting vascular cells, and regulating inflammatory reactions. This article reviews the main pharmacological effects and clinical research of A. sinensis on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in recent years, explores the effect of its chemical components on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by regulating the expression of functional proteins and inhibiting inflammation, anti-apoptosis, and antioxidant mechanisms. It provides a reference for further research on A. sinensis and the development of related drugs. It provides a new reference direction for the in-depth research and application of A. sinensis in the prevention, improvement, and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The objective of this study is to establish strategies to uniformly proliferate cells in a three-dimensional nonwoven polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) scaffold by simple adjustments in seeding and culture methods and the scaffold design. The combined dynamic and static seeding (intermittent agitations at 300 rpm with 1 h interval) resulted in the highest seeding efficiency (71%) comparing to the static and continuous agitating seeding methods. Cell-attached scaffolds were cultivated under different conditions. The stirring culture permitted cells to proliferate to a significantly greater extent than the static or agitating cultures, although faster cell proliferation in the outer region of the scaffold was observed. Next, based on this observation, scaffolds were opened with holes to alleviate the cell aggregation. The effect of hole size and number of scaffolds on the distribution of cells proliferated in the scaffold was evaluated. Two of 1-mm holes showed to be an optimal adjustment to allow cells to proliferate in a homogeneous manner. After 14 days culture, both of the holes were filled by cells proliferated with a fourfold increase in the cell number. The cell viability in the scaffolds was also high upon evaluating the live/dead and 3[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) staining examinations. Different cell types of 3T3-L1, C3H/10T1/2, and KUM6 cells showed similar behavior of cell proliferation and distribution in the scaffold, indicating the applicability of the established procedure. It is concluded that the nonwoven PET/EVOH scaffold serves as a potential cell culture substrate for an efficient cell proliferation.

Falls occur frequently in daily life and the damage to the body is irreversible. Therefore, it is crucial to implement timely and effective warning and protection systems for falls to minimize the damage caused by falls. Currently, the fall warning algorithm has shortcomings such as low recognition rates for falls and fall-risk movements and insufficient lead-time, the time before the subject impacts the floor, making it difficult for falling protection devices to function effectively. In this study, a multi-scale falls warning algorithm based on offset displacement is built, and a hip protection system is designed. The performance of the algorithm and the system is validated using 150 falling and 500 fall-risk actions from 10 volunteers. The results showed that the recognition accuracy for falling actions is 98.7% and the recognition accuracy for fall-risk actions is 99.4%, with an average lead-time of 402ms. The protection rate for falling movements reached 98.7%. This proposed algorithm and hip protection system have the potential to be applied in elderly communities, hospitals, and homes to reduce the damage caused by falls.Clinical Relevance- This study provides important reference for clinicians in analyzing fall behaviors to patients at risk of falls in clinical settings, offering valuable technical support for ensuring the safety of patients in danger of falling. It also contributes to further promoting the development of falling-prevention medical devices.

Traffic sign poles are crucial components of the highway system, and their maintenance mainly relies on the subjective judgment of staff, which is low-efficiency and will lead to mistaken inspections. This paper proposes a convenient and effective method to monitor the health of sign poles by using a mobile phone. It is unknown whether a mobile phone can be used as a conventional acceleration sensor. Therefore, the performance of the mobile phone was initially tested to ensure its suitability for acquiring the acceleration data of the traffic sign pole. The results show that the acceleration sensor of mobile phones is high-performance and can be used as a traditional acceleration sensor under the similar sampling frequency. The mobile phone can measure the 1st, 2nd and 5th natural frequencies of the traffic sign pole. Although the 1st and 5th natural frequencies have a large error with simulation, the 2nd natural frequency is accurate and stable. The looseness of the base connection greatly impacts on the 2nd natural frequency, which can be used as a measure of the loose base connection. The 2nd natural frequency was measured for 21 times and found to conform to a normal distribution. The relationship between the 2nd natural frequency and base connection loosening was investigated, which fitted to the equation. The fitting result is good and can be used to predict the degree of sign pole base connection loosening. Therefore, the mobile phone based convenient health monitoring method for traffic sign poles is feasible.

The provision of drains to geotechnical elements subjected to strong ground motion can reduce the magnitude of shaking-induced excess pore pressure and the corresponding loss of soil stiffness and strength. A series of shaking table tests were conducted within layered soil models to investigate the effectiveness of drained piles to reduce the liquefaction hazard in and near pile-improved ground. The effect of the number of drains per pile and the orientation of the drains relative to the direction of shaking were evaluated in consideration of the volume of porewater discharged, the magnitude of excess pore pressure generated, and the amount of de-amplification in the ground's motion. The following main conclusions can be drawn from this study. Single, isolated piles and a group of drained piles were tested in three series of shake table tests. Relative to conventional piles, the drained piles exhibited improved performance with regard to the generation and dissipation of excess pore pressure and stiffness of the surrounding soil, with increases in performance correlated with increases in the discharge capacity of the drained pile. The acceleration time histories observed within the pile-improved soil indicated a coupling of the rate and magnitude of porewater discharge, excess pore pressure generated, and de-amplification of strong ground motion. The amount of de-amplification reduced with increases in the number of drains per pile and corresponding reductions in excess pore pressure. The improved performance should prove helpful in the presence of sloping ground characterized with low-permeability soil layers that inhibit the dissipation of pore pressure and have demonstrated the significant potential for post-shaking slope deformation.

Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been developed to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 and subsequent hospitalization in children. Few studies have examined whether different sources of information regarding pediatric COVID-19 vaccines and parents' trust in the information have different effects on parental motivation to have their child vaccinated. No study has examined parental demographic factors related to the sources of information and the trust of parents in these sources. Understanding the sources of information on pediatric COVID-19 vaccines, parents' trust in the information, and related factors can contribute to the development of strategies for promoting the knowledge and acceptance of pediatric vaccination among parents. This study examined the sources of information regarding pediatric COVID-19 vaccines used by parents, their level of trust in these information sources, the demographic factors that influence this trust, and the associations of such information sources with parental motivation to get their child vaccinated against COVID-19. In total, 550 parents (123 men and 427 women) completed a questionnaire that was used to collect information regarding the information sources and to measure the parents' trust in these information sources. Parental motivation to get their child vaccinated was measured using the Motors of COVID-19 Vaccination Acceptance Scale for Parents. Multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to examine two associations, namely the associations of the parents' sources of information and their trust in these sources with their motivation to have their child vaccinated and the associations of the parents' demographic factors with their sources of information and their trust in these sources. For the parents, traditional mass media and medical staff in healthcare settings were the most common sources of information regarding pediatric COVID-19 vaccines. The parents rated medical staff in healthcare settings as the most trustworthy source of information. Obtaining information from acquaintances through social media and obtaining information from medical staff in healthcare settings were significantly associated with parental motivation to get their child vaccinated against COVID-19. Trust in the information provided by medical staff in healthcare settings and coworkers was significantly associated with the motivation of parents to vaccinate their children against COVID-19. Compared with fathers, mothers were more likely to obtain information from medical staff in healthcare settings and from acquaintances through social media. Parents with a higher education level were more likely to obtain information from medical staff in healthcare settings. Compared with the fathers, the mothers were more trusting of information obtained from coworkers. Health professionals should consider the sources of information used by parents and related factors when establishing strategies to increase parental motivation to get their children vaccinated against COVID-19.

For bone defect repair under co-morbidity conditions, the use of biomaterials that can be non-invasively regulated is highly desirable to avoid further complications and to promote osteogenesis. However, it remains a formidable challenge in clinical applications to achieve efficient osteogenesis with stimuli-responsive materials. Here, we develop polarized CoFe2O4@BaTiO3/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] core-shell particle-incorporated composite membranes with high magnetoelectric conversion efficiency for activating bone regeneration. An external magnetic field force conduct on the CoFe2O4 core can increase charge density on the BaTiO3 shell and strengthens the ß-phase transition in the P(VDF-TrFE) matrix. This energy conversion increases the membrane surface potential, which hence activates osteogenesis. Skull defect experiments on male rats showed that repeated magnetic field applications on the membranes enhanced bone defect repair, even when osteogenesis repression is elicited by dexamethasone or lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation. This study provides a strategy of utilizing stimuli-responsive magnetoelectric membranes to efficiently activate osteogenesis in situ.

Parents' motivation to vaccinate their children against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) plays a crucial role in the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among children. The Motors of COVID-19 Vaccination Acceptance Scale (MoVac-COVID19S) is a valuable tool for assessing individuals' vaccination-related attitudes and the factors influencing their decision to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This study adapted the MoVac-COVID19S to create a parent version (P-MoVac-COVID19S) and examined the psychometric soundness of two P-MoVac-COVID19S versions (a 9-item version (P-MoVac-COVID19S-9) and a 12-item version (P-MoVac-COVID19S-12)) for assessing parents' motivation to vaccinate their children. A total of 550 parents completed the P-MoVac-COVID19S and a questionnaire assessing the factors that impact parents' intention to allow their children to receive the COVID-19 vaccine using a vaccine acceptance scale. We enquired about the level of parental worry regarding the adverse effects of COVID-19 vaccines on children's health and the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses received by parents. The factor structures of the P-MoVac-COVID19S-9 and P-MoVac-COVID19S-12 were examined using confirmatory factor analysis. The internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and concurrent validity of the P-MoVac-COVID19S were also examined. The results revealed that the P-MoVac-COVID19S-12 has a four-factor structure, which aligns well with the theoretical framework of the cognitive model of empowerment; the P-MoVac-COVID19S-9 has a one-factor structure. Both the P-MoVac-COVID19S-9 and P-MoVac-COVID19S-12 had good internal consistency and test-retest reliability and acceptable concurrent validity. The results of this study demonstrated that the P-MoVac-COVID19S is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing parent's motivation to vaccinate their children against COVID-19.

As an autoimmune disease of the colon, the incidence of ulcerative colitis (UC) remains high. Carbon dots (CDs), a new type of nanomaterials, display excellent biological activity and are expected to inspire a new treatment for UC. A green method was used to carbonise rhei radix rhizoma (RRR) and extract CDs to study their anti-ulcer activity. The RRR-based carbon dots (RRR-CDs) were characterised by electron microscopy, optical techniques, and other techniques. The results indicated RRR-CDs have abundant chemical groups, excellent solubility and tiny size (1.374 nm-4.533 nm), which may be conducive to the exertion of inherent activity. Using a classic dextran sodium sulphate (DSS)-induced UC mouse model, for the first time, it was demonstrated RRR-CDs have significant anti-ulcerative activity in improving DAI score (from 2.8 to 1.6), colon length (4.15 to 6.08), and histopathology in mice. The underlying mechanisms of anti-ulcerative activity may be related to haemostatic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities to protect the mucosal barrier. RRR-CDs have symptomatic and potential mechanisms of treatment and are expected to become a candidate drug for the treatment of UC. This not only further expands the basis for the biological activity of CDs, but provides a potential treatment plan for solving thorny diseases in clinical practice.

A high-performance Au@MIL-101/PMMA/DT surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate was fabricated for sensitive and stable detection of paraquat by self-assembling metal organic framework-modified Au nanoparticles (Au@MIL-101) on a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film and then immobilizing the formed substrate onto a duct tape (DT). The highly closely packed Au@MIL-101 array provided intensive hotspots for SERS sensing. The MIL-101 layer modified on the surface of Au nanoparticles could absorb paraquat to the electromagnetic enhancement area of Au nanoparticles. The DT on the bottom made the substrate smoother, which is beneficial for achieving a more stable detection performance. As a result, the constructed substrate exhibited outstanding uniformity with relative standard deviations of 9.47% and storage stability for 2 months. For detecting paraquat, the substrate showed a low detection limit of 7.1 × 10-9  M (1.83 µg/kg) and wide linear range from 10-8 to 10-2  M. Furthermore, the substrate showed good detection performance in real cereal samples with desirable recovery rates from 91.57% to 102.32%.

Objective.Prosthetic systems are used to improve the quality of life of post-amputation patients, and research on surface electromyography (sEMG)-based gesture classification has yielded rich results. Nonetheless, current gesture classification algorithms focus on the same subject, and cross-individual classification studies that overcome physiological factors are relatively scarce, resulting in a high abandonment rate for clinical prosthetic systems. The purpose of this research is to propose an algorithm that can significantly improve the accuracy of gesture classification across individuals.Approach.Eight healthy adults were recruited, and sEMG data of seven daily gestures were recorded. A modified fuzzy granularized logistic regression (FG_LogR) algorithm is proposed for cross-individual gesture classification.Main results.The results show that the average classification accuracy of the four features based on the FG_LogR algorithm is 79.7%, 83.6%, 79.0%, and 86.1%, while the classification accuracy based on the logistic regression algorithm is 76.2%, 79.5%, 71.1%, and 81.3%, the overall accuracy improved ranging from 3.5% to 7.9%. The performance of the FG_LogR algorithm is also superior to the other five classic algorithms, and the average prediction accuracy has increased by more than 5%.Conclusion. The proposed FG_LogR algorithm improves the accuracy of cross-individual gesture recognition by fuzzy and granulating the features, and has the potential for clinical application.Significance. The proposed algorithm in this study is expected to be combined with other feature optimization methods to achieve more precise and intelligent prosthetic control and solve the problems of poor gesture recognition and high abandonment rate of prosthetic systems.

With the extension of the human life span and the increasing pressure of women's work and life, menopause syndrome (MPS) refers to a problem that puzzles almost all women worldwide. Hormone replacement treatment (HRT) can effectively mitigate the symptoms but can also exert adverse effects to a certain extent. Glycyrrhizae radix et rhizome (GRR) is commonly made into a charcoal processed product, termed GRR Carbonisatas (GRRC), for use in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). GRRC is widely used to treat MPS and other gynecological diseases. In this study, GRRC was prepared through pyrolysis. Subsequently, GRR-derived carbon dots (GRR-CDs) were purified through dialysis and characterized using transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared, ultraviolet, fluorescence, X-ray photoelectron microscopy, and high-performance liquid chromatography. The effects of GRR-CDs on MPS were examined and confirmed using ovariectomized female mice models. The GRR-CDs ranged from 1.0 to 3.0 nm in diameter and with multiple surface chemical groups, as indicated by the results. GRR-CDs can elevate the estradiol (E2) level of healthy female mice. Moreover, GRR-CDs can alleviate MPS using the typical ovariectomized mice model, as confirmed by elevating the estradiol (E2) level and reducing the degree of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) and raising the degree of uterine atrophy. The results of this study suggested that GRR-CDs may be a potential clinical candidate for the treatment of MPS, which also provides a possibility for nanodrugs to treat hormonal diseases.

Non-thermal plasma (NTP) is emerging as an attractive method for decomposing volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In this paper, to study toluene degradation mechanism in air/H2O dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma, optical emission spectrometry (OES) was employed to in-situ monitor active species in plasma, with the permanent degradation products being detected by on-line mass spectrometry under various operations. A detailed kinetic model of NTP with incorporation of non-constant electron filed and thermal effects has also been established. A toluene degradation efficiency > 82% could be achieved at P = 115 W, Cin, toluene = 1000 ppm. The relative spectrum intensity of excited OH, O, H and N2 (A3Σ+u) increased with increase of discharge power and was decreased at higher gas flowrates. Toluene degradation was mainly induced by oxidation of OH and O at afterglow stage, while part of toluene was decomposed by attack of electrons and reactive particles N2 (A3Σ+u) in discharge stage. A toluene degradation pathway has been proposed as: toluene→benzyl→benzaldehyde→benzene→phenoxy→cyclopentadiene→polycarbenes/alkynol→CO2/H2O. Benzoquinone, benzaldehyde, cyclopentadiene and cyclopentadienyl are supposed to be important intermediates for the ring-opening of toluene. Clarification of toluene degradation behaviors at discharge and afterglowing stage could provide new insights for plasma-catalytic process in future.

The complete catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde (HCHO) to CO2 and H2O at room temperature is a green route for indoor HCHO removal. Zeolite is an excellent carrier material for HCHO oxidation due to its large surface area, intricate pores and high adsorption capacity. However, the zeolite-supported noble metal catalysts have currently shown relatively low activity especially at room temperature. In this work, we present a facile acid treatment strategy for zeolite catalysts to improve the hydroxyl concentration and further enhance their catalytic activity for HCHO oxidation. Activity tests illustrated that HCHO could be completely oxidized to CO2 and H2O at a nearly 100% conversion rate with a weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of 150,000 mL/(g∙hr) at 25°C, when the support of Pd/USY catalysts was pretreated by hydrochloric acid with a concentration of 0.20 mol/L. The characterization results revealed that the active hydroxyl groups originated from the dealumination in the acid treatment play a key role in the HCHO oxidation reaction. The deduced reaction mechanism suggests that bridging hydroxyl groups may oxidize HCHO to dioxymethylene (DOM) species and terminal hydroxyl groups are responsible for the transformation of DOM groups to formate (HCOO) species.

Background: At present, people are susceptible to developing depression and anxiety disorders in response to stress. However, there is no specific medicine for anxiety. Os Draconis (OD, named "Long gu" in Chinese) are fossilized bones that have been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat neurological diseases for thousands of years. Thus, we conducted this study to determine the biological basis for the anxiolytic effect of OD. Methods: In this study, novel carbon dots (OD-CDs) from OD decoctions were discovered and separated. OD-CDs were anatomized using nanomaterials characterization methods to characterize the morphological structure, optical properties, and functional group properties. Four behavioural tests were conducted to observe the behavioural activities of mice, including the open field test (OFT), light/dark box test (LDT), elevated plus maze test (EPMT), and novelty-suppressed feeding test (NSFT), to determine its anxiolytic effects. Moreover, we assessed the possible mechanisms of the OD-CDs by detecting hormones associated with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Results: OD-CDs were spherical and monodispersed with a narrow size distribution between 1 and 5 nm and had a yield of 3.67%. OD-CDs increased the activity time of mice in the central zone in the OFT. The mice in the experimental group showed more frequent activity in the light compartment and the open arms, in LDT and EPMT, respectively. In addition, OD-CDs shortened the feeding latency in the NSFT. Furthermore, the results after OD-CDs intervention showed a significant increase in serum serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE). In addition, the concentrations of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH), and corticosterone (CORT) were decreased. Conclusion: These results demonstrate a definite anxiolytic effect of OD-CDs and reveal the possible mechanism of action of OD-CDs' anxiolytic effect, which supports the research of OD for neurological disorders and a promising new trend of therapeutic approach and drug development.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had great impact on human health and social economy. Several studies examined spatial and temporal patterns of health risk factors associated with COVID-19, but population flow spillover effect has not been sufficiently considered. In this paper, a population flow-based spatial-temporal eigenvector filtering model (FLOW-ESTF) was developed to consider spatial-temporal patterns and population flow connectivity simultaneously. The proposed FLOW-ESTF method efficiently improved model prediction accuracy, which could help the government aware of the infection risk level and to make suitable control policies. The selected population flow spatial-temporal eigenvector contributed most to modeling and the visualization of corresponding eigenvector set helped to explore the underlying spatial-temporal patterns and pandemic transmission nodes. The model coefficients could reflect how health risk factors contribute the modeling of state-level COVID-19 weekly increased cases and how their influence changed through time, which could help people and government to better aware the potential health risks and to adjust control measures at different stage. The extracted population flow spatial-temporal eigenvector not only represents influence of population flow and its spillover effects but also represents some possible omitted health risk factors. This could provide an efficient path to solve the problem of spatial and temporal autocorrelation in COVID-19 modeling and an intuitive way to discover underlying spatial patterns, which will partially compensate for the problems of insufficient consideration of potential risk variables and missing data.

The UCLA Loneliness Scale (Version 3; UCLA-LSV3) is widely used for assessing loneliness. Nevertheless, the validity of this scale for assessing loneliness in individuals with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder has not been determined. Additionally, studies validating the eight-item and three-item versions of UCLA-LSV3 have not included individuals with severe mental illness; therefore, whether the short versions are comparable to the full 20-item version of UCLA-LSV3 for this population is unclear. The present study examined the unidimensional structure, internal consistency, concurrent validity, and test-retest reliability of the Chinese versions of UCLA-LSV3 (i.e., 20-item, 8-item, and 3-item versions) to determine which version is most appropriate for assessing loneliness in individuals with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder in Taiwan. A total of 300 participants (267 with schizophrenia and 33 with schizoaffective disorder) completed the scales, comprising UCLA-LSV3, the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D), the suicidality module of the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-Epidemiological Version (K-SADS-E), and the family and peer Adaptation, Partnership, Growth, Affection, and Resolve (APGAR) index. Construct validity was evaluated through confirmatory factor analysis. The three versions of UCLA-LSV3 were compared with the CES-D, the suicidality module of the K-SADS-E, and the family and peer APGAR index to establish concurrent validity. The results indicated that all three versions of UCLA-LSV3 exhibited acceptable to satisfactory psychometric properties in terms of unidimensional constructs, concurrent validity, and test-retest reliability. The full version of UCLA-LSV3 had the best performance, followed by the eight-item version and the three-item version. Moreover, the three versions had relatively strong associations with each other. Therefore, when deliberating which version of UCLA-LSV3 is the best choice for assessing loneliness in individuals with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, healthcare providers and therapists should consider time availability and practicality.
