RESUMEN

The multivariate statistical analysis was performed to compare the therapeutic effects of Lycii Fructus from different origins on the retinal degenerative diseases(RDD) in mice. The mouse model of RDD was established by intraperitoneal injection of NaIO_3, and the visual function and retinal apoptosis were assessed by dark-light transition and TUNEL assay. Retinal thickness was measured by fundus optical coherence tomography(OCT), and the levels of antioxidant, inflammatory, and angiogenic markers in the serum and eyeball were determined. The therapeutic effects were compared by hierarchical cluster analysis, principal component analysis, and partial least squares-discriminant analysis. The results showed that the extracts of Lycii Fructus from different origins reversed NaIO_3-induced visual damage and retinal apoptosis, reduced oxidative stress, and restored the expression of inflammatory mediators and angiogenic markers in mice. The multivariate statistical analysis based on 17 pharmacodynamic indices suggested that the extract of Lycii Fructus from Ningxia demonstrated better therapeutic effects on RDD than the samples from the other four origins. The results of this study provide a scientific basis for the selection of the advantageous production region of Lycii Fructus for the prevention and treatment of RDD.

RESUMEN

Synthetic DNAzyme-based structures enable dynamic cell regulation. However, engineering an effective and targeted DNAzyme-based structure to perform customizable multistep regulation remains largely unexplored. Herein, we designed a membrane-anchored DNAzyme-based molecular machine to implement dynamic inter- and intracellular cascade regulation, which realizes efficient T-cell/cancer cell interactions and subsequent receptor mediated cancer cell uptake. Using CD8+ T-cells and HeLa cancer cells as a proof of concept, we demonstrate that the designed DNAzyme-based molecular machine enables customized cascade regulation including (1) specific recognition between T-cells and cancer cells, (2) specific response and fluorescence sensing upon extracellular stimuli, and (3) cascade regulation including intercellular distance shortening, cell-cell communication, and intracellular delivery of anticancer drugs. Together, this work provides a promising pathway for customized cascade cell regulation based on a DNAzyme-based molecular machine, which enables enhanced cancer therapy by combining T-cell immunotherapy and chemotherapy.

RESUMEN

Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite (HOIP) ferroelectrics exhibit polarization reversibility and have a wide range of applications in the fields of smart switches, memorizers, sensors, etc. However, the inherent limitations of small spontaneous polarization (P s) and large coercive field (E c) in ferroelectrics have impeded their broader utilization in electronics and data storage. Molecular ferroelectrics, as a powerful supplement to inorganic ferroelectrics, have shown great potential in the new generation of flexible wearable electronic devices. The important research responsibility is to greatly improve progressiveness and overcome the above limitations. Here, a novel one-dimensional (1D) HOIP ferroelectric, (3-F-BTAB)PbBr3 (3-F-BTAB = 3-fluorobenzyltrimethylammonium), was successfully synthesized by employing the H/F substitution strategy to modify parent compound (BTAB)PbBr3 (BTAB = benzyltrimethylammonium), which undergoes a ferroelectric phase transition with Aizu notation 2/mF2 at 420 K. Notably, (3-F-BTAB)PbBr3 demonstrates exceptional ferroelectric properties with a large P s of 7.18 µC cm-2 and a low E c of 1.78 kV cm-1. As far as we know, (3-F-BTAB)PbBr3 features the largest P s among those reported for 1D lead-based HOIP ferroelectrics. This work enriches the 1D lead-based ferroelectric family and provides guidance for applying ferroelectrics in low-voltage polar memories.

RESUMEN

To more accurately diagnose and treat patients with different subtypes of thyroid cancer, we constructed a diagnostic model related to the iodine metabolism of THCA subtypes. THCA expression profiles, corresponding clinicopathological information, and single-cell RNA-seq were downloaded from TCGA and GEO databases. Genes related to thyroid differentiation score were obtained by GSVA. Through logistic analyses, the diagnostic model was finally constructed. DCA curve, ROC curve, machine learning, and K-M analysis were used to verify the accuracy of the model. qRT-PCR was used to verify the expression of hub genes in vitro. There were 104 crossover genes between different TDS and THCA subtypes. Finally, 5 genes (ABAT, CHEK1, GPX3, NME5, and PRKCQ) that could independently predict the TDS subpopulation were obtained, and a diagnostic model was constructed. ROC, DCA, and RCS curves exhibited that the model has accurate prediction ability. K-M and subgroup analysis results showed that low model scores were strongly associated with poor PFI in THCA patients. The model score was significantly negatively correlated with T cell follicular helper. In addition, the diagnostic model was significantly negatively correlated with immune scores. Finally, the results of qRT-PCR corresponded with bioinformatics results. This diagnostic model has good diagnostic and prognostic value for THCA patients, and can be used as an independent prognostic indicator for THCA patients.

RESUMEN

Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exhibit reduced cardiac autonomic activity, linked to poor prognosis and exercise intolerance. While heart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB) can enhance cardiac autonomic activity in various diseases, its use in patients with COPD is limited. This study explored the impact of the HRVB on cardiac autonomic activity and pulmonary indicators in patients with COPD. Fifty-three patients with COPD were assigned to either the HRVB (n = 26) or the control group (n = 27), with both groups receiving standard medical care. The HRVB group also underwent one-hour HRVB sessions weekly for six weeks. All participants had pre- and post-test measurements, including the Six-Minute Walking Test (6MWT), lead II electrocardiogram (ECG) recording, Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale (mMRC), body mass index, airflow obstruction, dyspnea, and exercise capacity (BODE) index. ECG data were analyzed for heart rate variability (HRV) as an index of cardiac autonomic activity. A two-way mixed analysis of variances demonstrated significant interaction effects of Group × Time in pulmonary indicators and HRV indices. The HRVB group exhibited significant post-test improvements, with decreased mMRC and BODE scores and increased 6MWT distance and HRV indices, compared to pre-test results. The 6MWT distance significantly increased and mMRC significantly decreased at post-test in the HRVB group compared with the control group. This study confirmed the efficacy of HRVB as an adjunct therapy in patients with COPD, showing improvements in exercise capacity, breathing difficulties, and cardiac autonomic activity.

RESUMEN

Background: In recent years, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has emerged as a pivotal treatment for pure native aortic regurgitation (PNAR). Given patients with severe aortic regurgitation (AR) are prone to suffer from pulmonary hypertension (PH), understanding TAVR's efficacy in this context is crucial. This study aims to explore the short-term prognosis of TAVR in PNAR patients with concurrent PH. Methods: Patients with PNAR undergoing TAVR at Zhongshan Hospital, Affiliated with Fudan University, were enrolled between June 2018 to June 2023. They were categorized based on pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) into groups with or without PH. The baseline characteristics, imaging records, and follow-up data were collected. Results: Among the 103 patients recruited, 48 were afflicted with PH. In comparison to PNAR patients without PH, the PH group exhibited higher rates of renal dysfunction (10.4% vs. 0.0%, p = 0.014), increased Society of Thoracic Surgeons scores (6.4 ± 1.9 vs. 4.7 ± 1.6, p < 0.001), and elevated Nterminal fragment of pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). Transthoracic ultrasound examination revealed that patients with PH displayed lower left ventricular ejection fraction, larger left ventricle dimension, and more frequent moderate to severe tcuspid regurgitation (TR). Following TAVR, both groups experienced significant reductions in PASP, mitral regurgitation (MR) and TR. There were no significant differences in the incidence of postoperative adverse events in patients with or without PH. Conclusions: We found TAVR to be a safe and effective treatment for patients with PNAR and PH, reducing the degree of aortic regurgitation and PH without increasing the risk of postoperative adverse events.

RESUMEN

The shell of Hermetia illucens L. contains considerable amounts of chitin, which has various biological activities. So far, few studies have focused on chitin of Hermetia illucens L. as a source of chitosan and oligosaccharides. There is great potential for utilizing Hermetia illucens L. chitin to produce chitosan films in biomaterials. We studied different extraction conditions for chitin and extracted it from black soldier fly (BSF) (Hermetia illucens L.). Three processing steps were adopted: (1) demineralization, (2) deproteinization, and (3) decolorization. The chemical components (moisture, ash, protein, fat, residual protein, and residual mineral contents) and physicochemical characteristics of the chitin and chitosan extracted under these three conditions were determined. In addition, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction were used to analyze the extracted chitin and commercial samples, and the results showed that demineralization-deproteinization-decolorization treatments could achieve the highest chitin yield (7.18 ±â€¯0.11 %), chitosan yield (64.22 ±â€¯0.79 %), and the best purity (residual protein 0.56 ±â€¯0.01 % and residual ash 0.58 ±â€¯0.04 %), making it the best treatment method. Using this method, the residues produced from farmed BSF can be recycled and used as a new source of chitin.

RESUMEN

There is limited information regarding spatial and seasonal variations of atmospheric microplastics (MPs) and factors influencing MPs at the intersection of tropical and subtropical regions. A one-year study was conducted at sites in a high-population-density village (HPDV) and a low-population-density village (LPDV) in Taiwan to investigate the characteristics and influencing factors of airborne MPs. The predominant shapes, sizes, and polymer compositions of MPs were fragments, 3 to 25 and 26-50 µm, and polyamide at both sites. Seasonal variation in MP morphologies was not significant. Average MP concentrations were 2.20 ± 2.97 particles/m3 and 1.92 ± 2.35 particles/m3 at the HPDV and LPDV sites, respectively, and did not differ significantly. Higher concentrations and smaller sizes of MPs were found during the summer at both sites, while the predominant wind direction was southerly or southwesterly. In samples with temperatures exceeding 25 °C, the temperature was positively associated with MP concentrations at both the HPDV and LPDV sites. These results reflect that temperature influences the variations in the concentrations and sizes of MPs at our study site. Future research should consider the adverse risks of MP inhalation during the hot season. Moreover, when sites with different population densities and levels of human activity are closed, MP concentrations will not differ significantly between these areas since airflow can transport these particles from high-population-density areas into low-population-density areas in a short time.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Fetal microchimerism occurs in the mother after a pregnancy. To investigate the role of fetal microchimerism cells (FMCs) in rheumatoid arthritis, we analyzed the population of fetal cells in pregnant experimental arthritis mice. METHODS: We used EGFP+ fetuses, which were mated with either healthy female mice or CIA mice, and male C57BL/6J-Tg (Pgk1-EGFP)03Narl mice, to detect the population of FMCs in maternal circulation. The disease progression was determined by measuring the clinical score and histological stains during pregnancy. The fetal cells have been analyzed if expressing EGFP, CD45, and Scal by flow cytometry. We also detected the expression of CD14+ IL-10+ cells in vivo and in vitro. RESULTS: Our data showed that the pregnancy ameliorated the arthritis progression of CIA mice. The IHC stains showed the CD45 -Sca-1+ EGFP+ FMCs were expressed in the bone marrow and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) at 14 gestation days. However, Treg and Tc cell populations showed no significant change in the bone marrow. The data showed the H2Kb + fetal cells induced CD14+ IL10+ cell populations increased in the bone marrow in vitro and in vivo. CONCLUSION: Our investigations demonstrated that the FMCs protected the CIA mice from cartilage damage and triggered an immunosuppressive response in them by increasing the number of CD14+ IL10+ cells. In conclusion, the FMCs could potentially exhibit protective properties within the context of inflammatory arthritis that arises during pregnancy.

RESUMEN

Rationale: An impairment of plasma membrane repair has been implicated in various diseases such as muscular dystrophy and ischemia/reperfusion injury. MOTS-c, a short peptide encoded by mitochondria, has been shown to pass through the plasma membrane into the bloodstream. This study determined whether this biological behavior was involved in membrane repair and its underlying mechanism. Methods and Results: In human participants, the level of MOTS-c was positively correlated with the abundance of mitochondria, and the membrane repair molecule TRIM72. In contrast to high-intensity eccentric exercise, moderate-intensity exercise improved sarcolemma integrity and physical performance, accompanied by an increase of mitochondria beneath the damaged sarcolemma and secretion of MOTS-c. Furthermore, moderate-intensity exercise increased the interaction between MOTS-c and TRIM72, and MOTS-c facilitated the trafficking of TRIM72 to the sarcolemma. In vitro studies demonstrated that MOTS-c attenuated membrane damage induced by hypotonic solution, which could be blocked by siRNA-TRIM72, but not AMPK inhibitor. Co-immunoprecipitation study showed that MOTS-c interacted with TRIM72 C-terminus, but not N-terminus. The dynamic membrane repair assay revealed that MOTS-c boosted the trafficking of TRIM72 to the injured membrane. However, MOTS-c itself had negligible effects on membrane repair, which was recapitulated in TRIM72-/- mice. Unexpectedly, MOTS-c still increased the fusion of vesicles with the membrane in TRIM72-/- mice, and dot blot analysis revealed an interaction between MOTS-c and phosphatidylinositol (4,5) bisphosphate [PtdIns (4,5) P2]. Finally, MOTS-c blunted ischemia/reperfusion-induced membrane disruption, and preserved heart function. Conclusions: MOTS-c/TRIM72-mediated membrane integrity improvement participates in mitochondria-triggered membrane repair. An interaction between MOTS-c and plasma lipid contributes to the fusion of vesicles with membrane. Our data provide a novel therapeutic strategy for rescuing organ function by facilitating membrane repair with MOTS-c.

RESUMEN

Background: Premature ejaculation (PE) is linked with abnormal brain activity that is modifiable by electroacupuncture (EA). Aim: In this study we aimed to explore the central pathological mechanism underlying EA in treating PE. Methods: Six-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into a PE group (n = 8) and a control group (n = 8) according to ejaculatory frequency during copulatory behavior. All rats underwent EA at the Zusanli acupoint (ST-36) for 4 weeks. Magnetic resonance imaging data were collected before and after EA. Outcomes: The behavioral parameters, plasma norepinephrine levels, fractional amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (fALFF), and regional homogeneity (ReHo) were evaluated. Results: The PE group ejaculated more times with shorter latency compared with controls. After EA, the ejaculation frequency of the PE group decreased, and the ejaculation latency period increased, with no changes observed in the control group. Norepinephrine levels were higher in the PE group than in the controls and were positively correlated with ejaculation frequency and negatively correlated with ejaculation latency. The PE group showed lower fALFF in the right striatum and higher ReHo in the brainstem compared with controls. After EA, controls showed decreased fALFF in the right striatum, left olfactory bulb, and dorsal fornix and increased ReHo in the right interpeduncular nucleus, as well as decreased ReHo in the left striatum, prelimbic system, right basal forebrain region, septal region, and olfactory bulb, while the model group exhibited increased fALFF in the right hypothalamic region, decreased fALFF in the left globus pallidum and right basal forebrain region and increased ReHo in the right interpeduncular nucleus, as well as decreased ReHo in the left striatum, olfactory bulb, basal forebrain region, dentate gyrus, right dysgranular insular cortex, and striatum. Compared with the controls after EA, the model group showed increased ReHo of the right hypothalamic region and decreased ReHo of the right dysgranular insular cortex. Clinical Implications: These findings might enhance the understanding of PE and contribute to new, targeted therapies for PE. Strengths and Limitations: The therapeutic effects might be achieved by EA inhibiting the activity in brain regions involved in ejaculatory behavior. However, the curative effect of acupuncture might be underestimated due to some curative effects of sham acupuncture used in the control group. Conclusion: In conclusion, the ejaculatory frequency of rats may be reduced and ejaculation latency could be extended by EA at ST-36, which might be achieved by the effects of this treatment on brain activity.

RESUMEN

Transition metals exhibit high reactivity for Fenton-like catalysis in environmental remediation, but how to save consumption and reduce pollution is of great interest. In this study, rationally designed defect-engineered Fe@MoS2 (Fe@D-MoS2) was prepared by incorporating reactive iron onto structural defects generated from the chemical acid-etching, aiming to improve the energetic consumption of the catalyst in Fenton-like applications. Morphological and structural properties were elucidated in details, the Fenton-like reactivity was evaluated with five phenolic contaminants for oxidant activation, radical generation and environmental remediation. Compared to Fe@MoS2, Fe@D-MoS2 exhibited a 18.9-fold increase in phenol degradation (0.09 versus 1.79 min-1). Quenching experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance tests and electrochemical measurements revealed the dominant sulfate and superoxide radicals. Rendered by strong metal-substrate surface and electronic interactions from regulated chemical environment and coordination structure, the inert ≡ Fe(III) was reduced to the reactive ≡ Fe(II) accompanied by the ≡ Mo(IV) oxidation to ≡ Mo(V) in MoS2 lattice, with adjacent sulfur serving as the key electron transfer bridge. Therefore, this work shows that the incorporation of reactive centers is able to boost two-dimensional sulfide materials for environmental catalysis applications.

RESUMEN

Ten typical industries in Luohe City were selected for the sampling of organized emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and 114 VOCs components of each sample were detected to analyze their source characteristics and effects. The results showed that VOCs emissions of packaging and printing were mainly composed of OVOC (60.9%). In terms of the industrial coating, aromatic hydrocarbons (42.4%) and OVOC (38.9%) were the main VOCs species. The emissions of the footwear, furniture manufacturing, and paper industries were mainly composed of OVOC (32.3% - 42.6%) and aromatic hydrocarbons (20.7% - 33.7%), with noticeable halogenated hydrocarbons. Chemical and pharmaceutical industries mainly emitted halogenated hydrocarbons, with the proportions of 59.3% and 46.6%, respectively. The emissions of the brick industry were primarily composed of alkane (62.7%), and OVOC (48.5%), and halogenated hydrocarbons (19.7%) were the main contributors to VOCs emissions of the thermal industry. OVOC (48.1%) and alkane (29.4%) were the dominant species for the food manufacturing industry. In the packaging and printing industry, acetone (14.8%), isopropanol (14.0%), ethylacetate (11.1%), and toluene (10.2%) were the characteristic VOCs species. The emissions of industrial coating were dominated by isopropanol (25.6%), toluene (15.0%), m/p-xylene (12.4%), and acetone (7.1%). In the furniture manufacturing industry, m/p-xylene (15.8%), followed by hexanal (15.1%), 1,2-dichloroethane (9.6%), and acetone (8.4%) were the characteristic VOCs species. The emissions of the footwear industry were dominated by acetone (18.9%), toluene (18.1%), methylene chloride (8.0%), and acetaldehyde (6.8%). The characteristic species of the chemical industry were methylene chloride (23.9%), 1,2-dichloroethane (14.7%), acetone (12.7%), and trichloromethane (11.1%), and those for the pharmaceutical industry were bromoethane (36.7%), acetone (19.2%), benzene (5.0%), and vinyl acetate (3.0%). The emissions of the brick industry were mainly ethane, propane, ethylene, and benzene. Acetone, toluene, acetylene, and acetaldehyde were the primary VOCs species in the paper industry. The emissions of the food manufacturing industry were dominated by acetaldehyde, n-pentane, acrolein, and n-heptane. The emissions of the thermal industry were characterized by acetone, acetaldehyde , benzene, and toluene. Although different industries emitted various characteristic VOCs species, in general, acetone, isopropanol, benzene, toluene, m/p-xylene, ethane, acetaldehyde, and methylene chloride were the main characteristic species in most industries in Luohe. OVOC and aromatic hydrocarbons had higher contributions to ozone generation potential (OFP), and aromatic hydrocarbons contributed over 80.0% to secondary organic aerosol formation potential (SOAP). The source reactivity of ozone [SR(O3)] of the food and furniture manufacturing industries were higher, with values of 3.7 g·g-1 and 3.5 g·g-1, respectively, whereas the source reactivity of secondary organic aerosol SR(SOA) of the industrial coating, furniture manufacturing, and footwear industries were higher, with the values of 0.021, 0.017, and 0.014 g·g-1. Hence, the food manufacturing, industrial coating, and furniture manufacturing industries should be the primary industries for the collaborative control of PM2.5 and ozone in Luohe City, of which the furniture manufacturing industry was the top priority.

RESUMEN

Heavy metal pollution mainly caused by human activities is becoming increasingly prominent and threatening human health and ecosystem safety in soil, which is a non-renewable natural resource that humans rely on for survival and development. Assessment and analysis of soil heavy metal health risk is significant for protecting human health, preventing soil pollution, and maintaining ecosystem security. Based on the investigation of heavy metals, including Cr, Pb, Cd, As, and Hg, in cultivated soil in Liuhe District, the health risk assessment model was used to identify the health risk characteristics of heavy metals, and the spatial distribution, main sources, and responses to landscape patterns were explored by using inverse distance weight interpolation, positive definite matrix factorization, landscape pattern index, and redundancy analysis. The results showed that the coefficients of variation corresponding to Cr, Pb, Cd, As, and Hg in the study area were 0.19, 0.36, 0.23, 0.52, and 1.16, respectively, all of which belonged to moderate or high variability, indicating that they had high spatial heterogeneity and were susceptible to human factors. Cr, Pb, and As were the main health risk characteristic factors in the study area, with the carcinogenic risks to children ranging from 13.307×10-6 to 38.400×10-6, 0.839×10-6 to 3.250×10-6, and 4.548×10-6 to 16.680×10-6, respectively, which were higher than those in adults. Agricultural production activities, industrial production, and transportation activities were the main sources of heavy metals, with carcinogenic risks to children of 17.946×10-6 and 12.941×10-6, respectively. Furthermore, high-risk areas caused by agricultural production activities were mainly concentrated in the northern area of Liuhe District and showed an increasing trend from south to north and from the center to the periphery. The surrounding areas caused by industrial production activities and transportation were mainly concentrated in the chemical industry park and economic development zone of Liuhe District and showed a spatial agglomeration feature of decreasing from south to north and from the core to the periphery. The cumulative explanatory value of the landscape pattern index for the comprehensive carcinogenic risk to children was 0.463, and patch density, patch proportion in landscape area, patch aggregation degree, and maximum patch index had significant effects on the comprehensive carcinogenic risk in children, and the corresponding explanatory values were 0.422, 0.274, 0.351, and 0.232, respectively. This study had important theoretical and practical significance for expanding the perspective of environmental health research, promoting the transformation of soil heavy metal management methods and safeguarding regional population health.

RESUMEN

Migratory birds play an important role in the cross-regional transmission of zoonotic pathogens. Assessing the presence of zoonotic pathogens carried by migratory birds is critical for disease control. However, information about Blastocystis infection in the migratory birds is very limited. Thus, we conducted this study with the aim to explore the occurrence, prevalence and subtyping of Blastocystis in four breeds of migratory birds in northeastern China. From October 2022 to April 2023, a total of 427 fresh fecal samples were obtained from four breeds of migratory birds in five nature reserves in northeastern China, and screened for Blastocystis by PCR amplification. Twenty-one (4.92 %) of the studied samples were confirmed Blastocystis-positive, and two known zoonotic subtypes ST6 and ST7 were founded, with ST7 being the major subtype. Until now, we firstly reported the infection status and subtyping of Blastocystis in the migratory Greater White-Fronted Goose, White Stork, Oriental White Stork and Bean Goose in China. More importantly, these findings present further data on the genetic diversity and transmission routes of Blastocystis and further arouse public health concerns about this organism.

RESUMEN

AIMS: Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) has been extensively investigated in human cancers. Recent studies verified that current available PARP inhibitors (Olaparib or Veliparib) provided clinical palliation of clinical patients suffering from paclitaxel-induced neuropathic pain (PINP). However, the underlying mechanism of PARP overactivation in the development of PINP remains to be investigated. METHODS AND RESULTS: We reported induction of DNA oxidative damage, PARP-1 overactivation, and subsequent nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) depletion as crucial events in the pathogenesis of PINP. Therefore, we developed an Olaparib PROTAC to achieve the efficient degradation of PARP. Continuous intrathecal injection of Olaparib PROTAC protected against PINP by inhibiting the activity of PARP-1 in rats. PARP-1, but not PARP-2, was shown to be a crucial enzyme in the development of PINP. Specific inhibition of PARP-1 enhanced mitochondrial redox metabolism partly by upregulating the expression and deacetylase activity of sirtuin-3 (SIRT3) in the dorsal root ganglions and spinal cord in the PINP rats. Moreover, an increase in the NAD+ level was found to be a crucial mechanism by which PARP-1 inhibition enhanced SIRT3 activity. CONCLUSION: The findings provide a novel insight into the mechanism of DNA oxidative damage in the development of PINP and implicate PARP-1 as a possible therapeutic target for clinical PINP treatment.

RESUMEN

Ferroelectricity in metal-free perovskites (MFPs) has emerged as an academic hotspot for their lightweight, eco-friendly processability, flexibility, and degradability, with considerable progress including large spontaneous polarization, high Curie temperature, large piezoelectric response, and tailoring coercive field. However, their equivalent polarization axes as a key indicator are far from enough, although multiaxial ferroelectrics are highly preferred for performance output and application flexibility that profit from as many equivalent polarization directions as possible with easier reorientation. Here, by implementing the synergistic overlap of regulating anionic geometries (from spherical I- to octahedral [PF6]- and to tetrahedral [ClO4]- or [BF4]-) and cationic asymmetric modification, we successfully designed multiaxial MFP ferroelectrics CMDABCO-NH4-X3 (CMDABCO = N-chloromethyl-N'-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octonium; X = [ClO4]- or [BF4]-) with the lowest P1 symmetry. More impressively, systemic characterizations indicate that they possess 24 equivalent polarization axes (Aizu notations of 432F1 and m3̅mF1, respectively)─the maximum number achievable for ferroelectrics. Benefiting from the multiaxial feature, CMDABCO-NH4-[ClO4]3 has been demonstrated to have excellent piezoelectric sensing performance in its polycrystalline sample and prepared composite device. Our study provides a feasible strategy for designing multiaxial MFP ferroelectrics and highlights their great promise for use in microelectromechanical, sensing, and body-compatible devices.

RESUMEN

In this study, we optimized the parameters of diffusion bonding on multi-layered stainless steel 316L and 430 stacks. The preparation process for diffusion bonding is crucial, as the bonding surfaces need to be polished and meticulously cleaned to ensure a smooth bonding process. We fabricated twelve-layer plates consisting of 55 mm × 55 mm × 3 mm and 100 mm × 50 mm × 3 mm dimensions, and the bonding response was investigated by evaluating the tensile strength of the bonding zone under varying bonding conditions, with a bonding temperature ranging from 1000 to 1048 °C, a bond time ranging from 15 to 60 min, pressure ranging from 10 to 25.3 MPa, and under a vacuum environment. SS430 exhibits a significantly higher compression creep rate than SS316L. The compressibility of diffusion welding materials does not impact the diffusion bonding strength. Multi-axial tensile strength tests confirmed strong bonding joint strength in various axes. The tensile strengths of monolithic and Diffusion bonding (DB) specimens tested in parallel are essentially identical. The optimized diffusion bonding parameters (Condition G2C: 1048 °C/25.3 MPa/15 min) are ideal for producing SS316L stainless steel cores in compact heat exchangers, offering a superior bonding quality and reduced costs. These findings have practical implications for the production of stainless steel cores in compact heat exchangers, demonstrating the relevance and applicability of our research.

RESUMEN

Dracaena cambodiana Pierre ex Gagn. (Asparagaceae) is the source plant of Dragon's blood and has high ornamental values in gardening. Currently, this species is classified as the second-class state-protected species in the National Key Protected Wild Plants (NKPWP) of China. However, limited genomic data has hindered a more comprehensive scientific understanding of the processes involved in the production of Dragon's blood and the related conservation genomics research. In this study, we assembled a haplotype-resolved genome of D. cambodiana. The haploid genomes, haplotype A and haplotype B, are 1,015.22 Mb and 1,003.13 Mb in size, respectively. The completeness of haplotype A and haplotype B genomes was 98.60% and 98.20%, respectively, using the "embryophyta_10" dataset. Haplotype A and haplotype B genomes contained 27,361 and 27,066 protein-coding genes, respectively, with nearly all being functionally annotated. These findings provide new insights into the genomic characteristics of D. cambodiana and will offer additional genomic resources for studying the biosynthesis mechanism of Dragon's blood and the horticultural application of Dragon trees.
