To study the correlation between the level of Bordetella pertussis nucleic acid and clinical features of the disease in infants and young children and to investigate the risk factors for the development of severe pertussis. Using retrospective research methods, children aged 1 month-3 years who came to Hunan Children's Hospital from August 2023 to February 2024 and were diagnosed with pertussis for analysis. According to the logarithmic value of BP-DNA (log10 copies/ml), 35 cases were divided into the low load group, 78 cases were divided into the medium load group and 94 cases were divided into the high load group; 54 cases were divided into the severe whooping cough group and 153 cases were divided into the general group according to the severity of the disease; the clinical characteristics and laboratory data of the groups were compared, and the risk factors for the occurrence of severe whooping cough were analyzed at the same time. The ROC was used to evaluate the predictive efficacy of BP-DNA and WBC count for the development of severe pertussis. The results showed that in the high-dose group, the WBC count(22.59×109/L), L/N ratio(3.31), and hospitalization days(9.0 d) were significantly higher than those in the medium-dose group and low-dose group (F=6.309, 2.825, 15.149, all P<0.05). The hospitalization rate (100%), combined infection rate (64.96%), incidence of severe whooping cough (31.9%), pyrexia rate (29.8%), and corticosteroid use rate (57.4%) were also significantly higher than the other two groups (χ²=25.977, 9.163, 9.371, 8.299, 20.332, all P<0.05), and the complete immunity rate (9.6%) was significantly lower than the other two groups (χ²=11.632, P<0.05). Compared with the group of common whooping cough, the proportion of children under 1 year old (100%, χ²=9.581), the BP-DNA load (6.56 log10 copies/ml, Z=4.004), the WBC count(31.34×109/L, t=7.513), the PCT level(0.07 ng/ml, Z=2.626), the IL-6 level (6.65 ng/ml, Z=4.336), the combined infection rate (88.9%, χ²=36.536), the incidence of wheezing or dyspnea (55.6%, χ²=42.972), the rate of no improvement of symptoms with macrolides prior to the visit (77.8%, χ²=26.266), and the incidence of fever (55.6%, χ²=42.972) were all significantly higher;the complete immunity rate was significantly lower (5.6%, χ²=9.581) in the severe whooping cough group, the differences were all statistically significant(all P<0.05).The result of logistic regression analysis showed severe elevation of BP-DNA, high leukocyte count, co-infection, wheezing or shortness of breath, pyrexia and no improvement of symptoms with macrolides before the treatment were the risk factors for the development of severe pertussis and the logistic regressive model predicts a sensitivity and specificity of 0.83 and 0.90 for severe whooping cough, respectively. The sensitivity of BP-DNA>1.91×106 copies/ml, WBC count >19.97×109/L and the binominal combined test to predict the occurrence of severe pertussis were 0.87, 0.61 and 0.80, and the specificity were 0.43, 0.86 and 0.73, respectively. In conclusion, nucleic acid load in infants with pertussis correlated with clinical characteristics such as the active immunity status, fever, co-infections and hospitalisation and days in hospital. Children with high nucleic acid load, high white blood cell counts, co-infections, fever and no improvement of symptoms with macrolides prior to seeing a doctor were more likely to develop the severe pertussis. When BP-DNA >1.91×106 copies/ml or WBC counts>19.97×109/L, they have the highest predictive efficacy for severe pertussis respectively, and combined detection is better.

Objective: To explore the application of COVID-19-specific IgG antibody in identifying epidemic Omicron BA.5 strain infection. Method: Omicron BF.7/BA.5 naturally infected population, healthy population vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, and Omicron BF.7/BA.5 breakthrough cases were enrolled into this study. The serum WT-S-IgG and BA.5-S-IgG were detected by indirect ELISA, and the serum-specific IgG antibody levels of different populations were compared. The application value of the two antibody titers and the ratio of the two antibodies in identifying Omicron BA.5 epidemic strain infection were explored by the ROC curve, aiming to provide technical support for pathogen diagnosis. Results: The antibody titers of WT-S-IgG and BA.5-S-IgG in the breakthrough cases were higher than those in the naturally infected population and the healthy population (P<0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) of WT-S-IgG and BA.5-S-IgG in identifying epidemic Omicron BA.5 strain infection was 0.947 and 0.961, respectively. The AUC of BA.5-S-IgG and WT-S-IgG antibody titer ratio was 0.873. When the antibody titer ratio was 0.855, the sensitivity and specificity were 80.00% and 90.00%, respectively. According to the interval since the last infection, the AUC of the ratio of BA.5-S-IgG to WT-S-IgG antibody titer to identify the infection of epidemic strains less than 30 days and more than 30 days was 0.887 and 0.863, respectively, and the sensitivity and specificity were both above 80%. Conclusion: Both BA.5-S-IgG and WT-S-IgG, as well as the combination of these two antibodies, are of high value in the identification of epidemic strains.

AIMS: To assess the feasibility of using a generative adversarial network (GAN) to improve diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) resolution in rectal MR scans for rectal carcinoma (RC), and to evaluate both the image quality and the diagnostic utility of super-resolution DWI (SR-DWI) in T stage assessment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this retrospective investigation, a total of 291 patients diagnosed with RC during the period spanning May 2018 to December 2021 were included. The generated SR-DWI was evaluated against the original DWI using multi-scale structural similarity and peak signal-to-noise ratio. Two radiologists scored the SR-DWI and original DWI using a 4-point Likert scale in image quality. Moreover, both radiologists independently evaluated the T category staging based on T2WI and SR-DWI. Interobserver agreement was assessed using Cohen's kappa. RESULTS: The PSRN and MS-SSIM values of SR-DWI (4 ×) were significantly higher compared to those of SR-DWI (16 ×). Regarding the details of anatomic structures and overall image quality parameters, both radiologists exhibited a preference for SR DWI with 16 × enlargement over SR DWI with 4 × enlargement, yielding significantly superior ratings (both p < 0.001). The T-staging accuracy rates of SR-DWI (16 ×) performed by radiologist 1 and radiologist 2 were significantly superior to those achieved with T2WI (0.621 vs. 0.768, p = 0.027; 0.653 vs 0.810, p = 0.014). CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates that the adapted super-resolution approach can significantly improve the overall image quality and details of anatomic structure of DWI in rectal MR. And SR-DWI offer better diagnostic accuracy in RC T staging when compared with T2WI.

Metal oxide composites with graphene/graphene oxide have increasingly gained popularity in enhancing the photocatalytic degradation of several existing harmful dyes. Moreover, identifying the role of carbon networks and their interactions in composite formation would assist in the design and development of photocatalysts. In the present study, we investigated the role of carbon networks in improving photocatalytic properties. Electronic structure analysis of cobalt oxide-graphene (C2)/graphene oxide (C3) nanocomposites using XAS suggested possible charge transfer from cobalt oxide nanoparticles to the carbon network during composite formation. The photocatalytic degradation of C3 towards phenol dye (1 × 10-3 M) was >50% and improved the degradation rate with k = 0.231 h-1.In the quest to understand the mechanism unfolding on its surface, in situ XAS under UV-visible irradiation was performed, which shed light on delayed excitonic recombination in the synthesized nanocomposites. This enabled hydroxy radicals (ËOH) to play a preeminent role in the cleavage of the phenol ring and its intermediaries. Based on these observations, a detailed mechanism for charge transfer occurring during nanocomposite formation and the mechanism involved in the enhanced photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite photocatalyst towards phenol degradation under the influence of UV-visible irradiation are discussed.

Objective: To explore the optimization of the standardized assessment tool for clinical diagnosis of Chinese developmental dyslexia (DD). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from May to December 2023, in which 130 primary school children in grades 1 to 3 with clinical signs of literacy lag and positive screening results on the screening scales were recruited from the outpatient clinic of Child Health Care Medical Division, Shanghai Children's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Chinese dyslexia screening behavior checklist for primary students (CDSBC) was used as the screening scales, and supplemented by dyslexia checklist for Chinese children. Referring to the standard procedure of the"expert advice on diagnosis and intervention of Chinese developmental dyslexia", the developmental dyslexia scale for standard mandarin (DDSSM) was used to evaluate the children's literacy-related cognitive abilities and conduct the diagnostic assessment, and divided the children into learning backward group and the DD group. The t-test and χ2 test were used to compare the differences in the distribution of intelligence, literacy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder between the two groups. Spearman's correlation was used to analyze the correlation between the scores for each cognitive ability in the DDSSM and the CDSBC. Results: Of the 130 children, 90 were male, aged (8.3±1.0) years; 40 were female, aged (8.1±0.9) years. A final diagnosis of DD was made in 59 cases, of which 41 were males. There was no statistically significant difference in operational intelligence quotient (101±15 vs.100±15, t=0.53, P>0.05) and statistically significant difference in literacy of DDSSM (32±5 vs.21±4, t=11.56, P<0.001) between the learning backward group and the DD group. Eighteen cases (25.4%) of the learning backward group were children with attention deficit subtype attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD-I), and 16 cases (27.1%) in DD group, the difference in incidence between the two groups was not statistically significant (χ2=0.05, P>0.05). There were correlations between the DDSSM (for oral vocabulary, morphological awareness and orthographic awareness) and the CDSBC total score (r=-0.42, -0.32, -0.35, all P<0.01), but the correlations for visuospatial perception and rapid automatized naming with CDSBC total score were not statistically significant (r=-0.09 and -0.20,both P>0.05). Conclusion: For literacy-related cognitive abilities, screening scales CDSBC are not sufficiently useful for assessment, so the introduction of standardized assessment tools DDSSM is an optimization of the clinical diagnosis of Chinese DD, which is crucial for achieving accurate diagnosis and intervention.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: LPAC (low phospholipid-associated cholelithiasis) syndrome is a rare genetic form of cholelithiasis. ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) is often used to remove gallstones in the bile duct. No published data is available on the role of ERCP in LPAC syndrome. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this retrospective cohort study, we included patients diagnosed with LPAC syndrome in a single tertiary referral center between 2009 and 2021. Our aim was to assess the frequency, indications, modalities, results, and complications of ERCP, as well as predictive factors for ERCP, in LPAC syndrome. Independent factors associated with ERCP occurrence were identified using a multivariable Cox regression analysis. RESULTS: ERCP was required in 31.2 % of the 269 patients included for analysis. Among patients who required ERCPs, 78.6 % had the procedure before diagnosis (i.e., starting UDCA). Most common indications were choledocholithiasis (53.6 %) and acute cholangitis (29.5 %). Post ERCP pancreatitis, perforation and bleeding rates were 7.2 %, 2.6 %, and 1.3 %, respectively. Age and history of cholelithiasis in first-degree relatives were associated with a higher risk of ERCP (Hazard-ratio [HR]=1.30 [95 %confidence-interval [CI] 1.04-1.62] and HR=1.88 [95 %CI 1.15-3.07] respectively). Female gender and UDCA intake ≥ 1 year were associated with a lower risk of ERCP (HR=0.49 [95 %CI 0.29-0.82] and HR=0.44 [95 %CI 0.22-0.90] respectively). Median follow-up was 10.8 years. CONCLUSION: One-third of patients with LPAC syndrome undergo sphincterotomy. However, most procedures are performed before diagnosis and UDCA is associated with a lower risk of endoscopic procedure. Earlier diagnosis and treatment with UDCA may further reduce the need for ERCP in patients with LPAC syndrome.

Objective: To investigate the clinicopathological features, classification, and genetic characteristics of common lymphatic malformation (CLM) in superficial soft tissue. Methods: A retrospective study of 110 patients with the diagnosis of CLM at the Henan Province People's Hospital, China from August 2019 to August 2022 was performed. The clinicopathological features, relevant immunohistochemical (IHC) staining results, and fluorescence quantitative PCR of PIK3CA mutation were analyzed, and patients were followed up. Results: Among the 110 CLM patients, there were 53 males and 57 females; 65 cases (65/110, 59.1%) were first detected when the patients were≤2 years old. The most common location was the head and neck in 41 cases (41/110, 37.3%). Clinically, 102 cases (102/110, 92.7%) were solitary, 83 cases (83/110, 75.5%) were skin-colored, 69 cases (69/110, 62.7%) had indistinct borders, and 10 cases (10/110, 9.1%) had diffuse and severe macroscopic manifestations. There were 52 macrocystic type (52/110, 47.3%), 23 microcystic type (23/110, 20.9%), and 35 combined type (35/110, 31.8%). The macrocystic CLM presented as soft, translucent masses with large cystic cavities on the cut surface, and histologically they were composed of large, irregularly dilated channels that were thicker with irregular smooth muscle and lymphocytic infiltration. Microcystic CLM showed wartlike projections or translucent blisters on the skin, with small honeycomb structures on the cut surface, and histologically consisted of round or angular dilated small lymphatic vessels with little or no smooth muscle. The combined CLM had both macrocystic and microcystic morphologies. IHC staining showed that the lymphatic endothelial cells were positive for LYVE-1, D2-40, PROX1, CD31, and VEGFR3 but negative for CD34; in the macrocystic and combined CLM vessel walls were positive for SMA. Eight of 13 CLM had PIK3CA mutation. All patients were followed up, and 24 (24/110, 21.8%) had relapses, which more frequently occurred in combined type, followed by microcystic type. Conclusions: CLM is a congenital vascular malformation composed of dilated, abnormal lymphatic channels, with PIK3CA mutation. There are significant differences in clinicopathological characteristics among the different types. Since microcystic and combined CLM are prone to recurrence, accurate pathological subtyping is necessary to guide treatment and to predict prognosis.

Objective: The ultrasonography features of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) and intramuscular capillary-type hemangiomas (ICTH) were analyzed, and the diagnostic model of ASPS was established. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out. The clinical data of 52 patients [28 males and 24 females, aged (20.7±15.1) years] with pathologically confirmed ASPS and ICTH admitted to People's Hospital of Henan Province from January 2005 to February 2023 were included in the study. According to pathological types, the patients were divided into ASPS group and ICTH group. Clinical data of patients were retrospectively collected, and meaningful indicators in the univariate analysis were included in the regression analysis for screening. After comprehensive consideration of clinical significance and statistical significance, eligible indicators were selected for inclusion in the regression analysis. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to screen the factors that distinguished the pathological types of ASPS and ICTH, and the diagnostic model was established. The area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic effectiveness of the diagnostic model in distinguishing ASPS from ICTH. Results: There were 20 patients in ASPS group, 10 males and 10 females, aged (26.9±13.5) years, and 32 patients in ICTH group, 18 males and 14 females, aged (16.8±15.0) years. The age difference between the ASPS group and the ICTH group was statistically significant (P<0.05), and there were statistically significant differences in the ultrasound imaging features of "clear boundary" "peripheral lobe" "thin blood vessels inside the lesion are straight and out of shape" "intra-lesion liquification" "peripheral thick blood vessels" and "peripheral muscle fiber disruption" between the two groups (all P<0.001).Variables with clinical and statistical significance were selected as independent variables. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that peripheral muscle fiber interruption (OR=97.358, 95%CI:6.833-1 387.249) and internal thin blood vessels were flat and out of shape (OR=0.052, 95%CI:0.003-0.921) was the correlation factor to distinguish the pathological types of ASPS and ICTH. Two ultrasonic image features of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" and "internal thin blood vessels are straight and out of shape" were used to establish the diagnostic model. The sensitivity of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" diagnostic model was 81.3%, and the specificity was 95.0%. The AUC was 0.811(95%CI: 0.761-0.954). The sensitivity, specificity and AUC of the diagnosis model of "internal thin vessels with flat misshape" were 90.0%, 96.9% and 0.934(95%CI: 0.830-0.984). The sensitivity, specificity and AUC of the combined diagnosis model of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" and "internal thin blood vessel straight out of shape" were 96.9%, 90.0% and 0.974(95%CI:0.877-0.999). Conclusion: Ultrasonography can be used to distinguish ASPS from ICTH, and the combined diagnostic model based on the two ultrasonic imaging features of "peripheral muscle fiber interruption" and "internal thin blood vessel straight out of shape" can further improve the diagnostic efficiency.

Chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have become diseases that seriously threaten the health and quality of life of the Chinese population, and also become a major public health problem affecting the national economic and social development. With the intensification of China's population aging, the economic burden caused by NCDs will further increase. More and more evidence has shown that NCDs could be prevented, and the prevention and control of NCDs have been considered as a core task of building a healthy China. Therefore, precise personalized nutrition and the prevention of NCDs from the age of zero, which is called the "Double Zero Strategy", would provide a well-consolidated basis for body tissue structure, and prevention of NCDs should also begin at age zero, and then extend to the first 1 000 days of life. The "Double Zero Strategy" preventive intervention can improve the nutritional status, balance diet and nutrition, and increase physical activity among children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, all of which can reduce the risk of chronic disease, disability, and death. Therefore, launching the "Double Zero Strategy" for full life cycle prevention will help to achieve China's health goals in the new era, and provide more comprehensive measures and plans for implementing the goal of a healthy China.

Single crystals of GaKCu(PO4)2were synthesized using the hydrothermal method, and subsequent measurements of specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, and high-field magnetization were performed. A broad peak is observed in the magnetic susceptibility and specific heat curves, with the maximum values appearing at about 11.5 K and 5.29 K, respectively. The highest maximum peak value of susceptibility is observed when the magnetic field is applied along thec-axis, followed by thea-axis,b-axis, and polycrystalline samples. These indicate that the system exhibits one-dimensional magnetism and the magnetic easy axis is thecaxis. The magnetization at 2 K reveals the occurrence of a field-induced Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) phase within the magnetic field range of approximately 8-12 T. High-field magnetization up to 40 T indicates that the compound reaches magnetization saturation as the field exceedsHs= 12 T. Through systematic measurements, a field-temperature (H-T) phase diagram was constructed, and dome-like phase boundaries were observed. The findings suggest that GaKCu(PO4)2is a spin gap system and a promising candidate for studying BEC of magnons due to its phase transition boundary occurring at low magnetic fields.

Synaptic plasticity is widely thought to support memory storage in the brain, but the rules determining impactful synaptic changes in-vivo are not known. We considered the trial-by-trial shifting dynamics of hippocampal place fields (PFs) as an indicator of ongoing plasticity during memory formation. By implementing different plasticity rules in computational models of spiking place cells and comparing to experimentally measured PFs from mice navigating familiar and novel environments, we found that Behavioral-Timescale-Synaptic-Plasticity (BTSP), rather than Hebbian Spike-Timing-Dependent-Plasticity, is the principal mechanism governing PF shifting dynamics. BTSP-triggering events are rare, but more frequent during novel experiences. During exploration, their probability is dynamic: it decays after PF onset, but continually drives a population-level representational drift. Finally, our results show that BTSP occurs in CA3 but is less frequent and phenomenologically different than in CA1. Overall, our study provides a new framework to understand how synaptic plasticity shapes neuronal representations during learning.

In the present study, synchrotron-based X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray excited optical luminescence (XEOL) have been used to investigate the induced defect states in metal oxide nanomaterials. Specifically, two synthesis approaches have been followed to develop unique nano-sized peanut-shaped (N-ZnO) nanostructures and micron-sized hexagonal rods (M-ZnO). XANES analysis at the Zn K-edge revealed the presence of defect states with a divalent oxidation state of zinc (Zn2+) in a tetrahedral structure. Furthermore, XAS measurements performed at the Zn L3,2-edge and O K-edge confirm higher oxygen-related defects in M-ZnO, while N-ZnO appeared to have a higher concentration of surface defects due to size confinement. Moreover, the in-line XEOL and time dependent-XEOL measurements exposed the radiative excitonic recombination phenomena occurring in the band-tailing region as a function of absorption length, X-ray energy excitation, and time. Based on the chronology developed in the defect state improvement, a possible energy band diagram is proposed to accurately locate the defect states in the two systems. Furthermore, the increased absorption intensity at the Zn L3,2-edge and the O K-edge under the UV lamp suggests delayed recombination of electrons and holes, highlighting their potential use as photo catalysts. The photocatalytic activity degrading the rhodamine B dye established M-ZnO as a superior catalyst with a rapid degradation rate and significant mineralization. Overall, this work provides valuable insights into ZnO defect states and provides a foundation for efficient advanced materials for environmental or other optoelectronic applications.

Objective: To clarify the clinical efficacy of first-line oral antiviral drugs tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF), and entecavir (ETV) in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and their safety profiles with lipid, bone, and kidney metabolism. Methods: 458 CHB cases diagnosed and treated at the Department of Hepatology of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University from February 2010 to November 2022 were selected. TAF (175 cases), TDF (124 cases), and ETV (159 cases) were used as therapies. At 24 and 48 weeks, the virology, biochemical response, changes in liver stiffness measurement (LSM), and bone, kidney, and blood lipid metabolism safety profiles were compared and analyzed. Results: After 24 and 48 weeks of TAF, TDF, and ETV therapy, HBV DNA load decreased by 3.28, 2.69, and 3.14 log10 IU/ml and 3.28, 2.83, and 3.65 log10 IU/ml, respectively, compared with the baseline, and the differences between the three groups were statistically significant, P < 0.001. The complete virological response rates were 73.95%, 66.09%, 67.19%, and 82.22%, 72.48%, and 70.49%, respectively. The incidence rates of low-level viremia were 16.67%, 21.70%, and 23.08%, while poor response rates were 1.11%, 3.67%, and 4.10%. ALT normalization rates were 64.00%, 63.89%, 67.96%, and 85.33%, 80.56%, 78.64%, respectively, and there was no statistically significant difference among the groups. LSM was significantly improved in patients treated with TAF for 48 weeks, P = 0.022. Serum phosphorus level gradually decreased with the prolongation of TDF treatment. The TAF treatment group had a good safety profile for kidney, bone, and phosphorus metabolism, with no dyslipidemia or related occurrences of risk. Conclusion: There are some differences in the therapeutic effects of first-line anti-HBV drugs. TAF has the lowest incidence of low-level viremia after 48 weeks of treatment and has a good safety profile in kidney, bone, and blood lipid metabolism.

Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV), based on tandem PV cells, is considered a new alternative for combining solar energy with buildings. Accurately predicting the BIPV-harvested annual output energy (Eout,annual) is crucial for evaluating the BIPV performance. Machine learning (ML) is a potential candidate for solving such a problem without the time-consuming process of experimental investigations. This contribution proposes an artificial neural network (ANN) to predict the Eout,annual of 4-terminal perovskite/silicon (psk/Si) PV cells under realistic environmental conditions. The input variables of the proposed model consist of the input solar irradiance (Pin), incident light's angle (Ain), the PV module's temperature (Tmod), the psk absorber's thickness (Thpsk), and the psk absorber's bandgap (Bpsk). The input data were received from the simulated results. This work also evaluates the degree of importance of each input variable and optimizes the architecture of the ANN using the surrogate algorithm before predictions. The optimized ANN-3 (three hidden layers) model shows superior performance indicators, including a mean squared error of MSE = 0.02283, correlation coefficient R = 0.99999, and Willmott's index of agreement Iw = 0.99999. Consequently, the predicted highest Eout,annual at Bpsk of 1.71 eV is 297.73, 115.01, 193.98, and 97.6 kWh/m2 for the rooftop, east, south, and west facades, respectively.
RESUMEN
Objective: To compare the volumetric changes of cervical disc herniation (CDH) after cervical microendoscopic laminoplasty(CMEL),expansive open-door laminoplasty (EOLP) and conservative treatment. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted involving 101 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy(CSM),at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery,the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from April 2012 to April 2021. The patients included 52 males and 49 females with an age of (54.7±11.8) years(range:25 to 86 years). Among them, 35 patients accepted CMEL treatment,33 patients accepted EOLP treatment,while 33 patients accepted conservative treatment. Volume data of CDH were measured by three-dimensional analysis of the initial and follow-up MRI images. The absorption rate and reprotrusion rate of CDH were calculated. The happening of resorption or reprotrusion was defined when the ratio was greater than 5%. The clinical outcomes and quality of life were evaluated by the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score and the neck disability index (NDI).Quantitative data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA with post LSD-t test (multiple comparison) or Kruskal-Wallis test. Categorical data was analyzed by χ2 test. Results: The follow-up time of the CMEL group,EOLP group and the conservative treatment group were (27.6±18.8)months,(21.6±6.9)months and(24.9±16.3)months respectively with no significant difference(P>0.05). Changes of CDH volume in patients:(1) There were 96 CDH of 35 patients in the CMEL group,among which 78 showed absorption. The absorption frequency was 81.3%(78/96) and the absorption rate was ranged 5.9% to 90.9%;9 CDH showed reprotrusion,the reprotrusion frequency was 9.4% (9/96) and the reprotrusion rate was 5.9% to 13.3%;(2) There were 94 CDH of 33 patients in the EOLP group,of which 45 showed absorption. The absorption prevalence was 47.9% (45/94) and the absorption rate was 5.0% to 26.7%;20 CDH showed reprotruded,with the reprotrusion frequency of 21.3% (20/94) and the reprotrusion rate was 5.8% to 28.3%;(3) There were 102 CDH in 33 patients of the conservative group. Among them, 5 showed absorption. The absorption frequency was 4.9% (5/102),and the absorption rate was 7.2% to 14.3%;58 CDH showed reprotruded with the re-protrusion ratio of 56.9% (58/102) and the re-protrusion rate was 5.4% to 174.1%. The absorption ratio and reprotrusion ratio of the CMEL group were statistically different from EOLP group or the conservative group (P<0.01).The absorption ratio and reprotrusion ratio of the EOLP group was different from conservative group (all P<0.01). In terms of clinical outcomes, the excellent/good rate of the JOA score and NDI scores in the CMEL group were different from that of conservative group (all P<0.01) but not from that of the EOLP group(P>0.05). Conclusions: CMEL is an effective method for the treatment of CSM,making CDH easier to resorption compared to the EOLP or conservative treatment,thus making a better decompression effect on the nerves. This study enlightened on a new strategy for the clinical treatment of CSM.

Objective: To investigate the clinical value of plasma scaffold protein SEC16A level and related models in the diagnosis of hepatitis B virus-related liver cirrhosis (HBV-LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC). Methods: Patients with HBV-LC and HBV-HCC and a healthy control group diagnosed by clinical, laboratory examination, imaging, and liver histopathology at the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University between June 2017 and October 2021 were selected. Plasma SEC16A level was detected using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) was detected using an electrochemiluminescence instrument. SPSS 26.0 and MedCalc 15.0 statistical software were used to analyze the relationship between plasma SEC16A levels and the occurrence and development of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. A sequential logistic regression model was used to analyze relevant factors. SEC16A was established through a joint diagnostic model. Receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the model for liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma diagnosis. Pearson correlation analysis was used to identify the influencing factors of novel diagnostic biomarkers. Results: A total of 60 cases of healthy controls, 60 cases of HBV-LC, and 52 cases of HBV-HCC were included. The average levels of plasma SEC16A were (7.41 ± 1.66) ng/ml, (10.26 ± 1.86) ng/ml, (12.79 ± 1.49) ng /ml, respectively, with P < 0.001. The sensitivity and specificity of SEC16A in the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma were 69.44% and 71.05%, and 89.36% and 88.89%, respectively. SEC16A, age, and AFP were independent risk factors for the occurrence of HBV-LC and HCC. SAA diagnostic cut-off values, sensitivity, and specificity were 26.21 and 31.46, 77.78% and 81.58%, and 87.23% and 97.22%, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity for HBV-HCC early diagnosis were 80.95% and 97.22%, respectively. Pearson correlation analysis showed that AFP level was positively correlated with alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total bilirubin (TBil), and γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) with P < 0.01, while the serum SEC16A level was only slightly positively correlated with ALT and AST in the liver cirrhosis group (r = 0.268 and 0.260, respectively, P < 0.05). Conclusion: Plasma SEC16A can be used as a diagnostic marker for hepatitis B-related liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. SEC16A, combined with age and the AFP diagnostic model with SAA, can significantly improve the rate of HBV-LC and HBV-HCC early diagnosis. Additionally, its application is helpful for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the progression of HBV-related diseases.

Because of the half-filled t_{2g}-electron configuration, the BO_{6} octahedral distortion in a 3d^{3} perovskite system is usually very limited. In this Letter, a perovskitelike oxide Hg_{0.75}Pb_{0.25}MnO_{3} (HPMO) with a 3d^{3} Mn^{4+} state was synthesized by using high pressure and high temperature methods. This compound exhibits an unusually large octahedral distortion enhanced by approximately 2 orders of magnitude compared with that observed in other 3d^{3} perovskite systems like RCr^{3+}O_{3} (R=rare earth). Essentially different from centrosymmetric HgMnO_{3} and PbMnO_{3}, the A-site doped HPMO presents a polar crystal structure with the space group Ama2 and a substantial spontaneous electric polarization (26.5 µC/cm^{2} in theory) arising from the off-center displacements of A- and B-site ions. More interestingly, a prominent net photocurrent and switchable photovoltaic effect with a sustainable photoresponse were observed in the current polycrystalline HPMO. This Letter provides an exceptional d^{3} material system which shows unusually large octahedral distortion and displacement-type ferroelectricity violating the "d^{0}-ness" rule.

We report the single-crystal growth of Mn2V2O7and the results of magnetic susceptibility, high-field magnetization up to 55 T and high-frequency electric spin resonance (ESR) measurements for its low-temperatureαphase. Two antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering at 17.5 K and 3 K and obvious magnetic anisotropy are observed inα-Mn2V2O7upon cooling. In pulsed high magnetic fields, the compound reaches the saturation magnetic moment of â¼10.5µBfor each molecular formula at around 45 T after two undergoing AFM phase transitions atHc1≈ 16 T,Hc2≈ 34.5 T forH//[11-0] andHsf1= 2.5 T,Hsf2= 7 T forH//[001]. In these two directions, two and seven resonance modes are detected by ESR spectroscopy, respectively. Theω1andω2modes ofH//[11-0] can be well described by two-sublattice AFM resonance mode with two zero-field gaps at 94.51 GHz and 169.28 GHz, indicating a hard-axis feature. The seven modes forH//[001] are partially separated by the critical fields ofHsf1andHsf2, displaying the two signs of spin-flop transition. The fittings ofωc1andωc2modes yield zero-field gaps at 69.50 GHz and 84.73 GHz forH//[001], confirming the axis-type anisotropy. The saturated moment and gyromagnetic ratio indicate the Mn2+ion inα-Mn2V2O7is in a high spin state with orbital moment completely quenched. A quasi-one-dimensional magnetism with a zig-zag-chain spin configuration is suggested inα-Mn2V2O7, due to the special neighbor interactions caused by a distorted network structure with honeycomb layer.
