RESUMEN

The hybrid composed of anisotropic niobate layers modified with MoC nanoparticles is synthesized by multistep reactions. The stepwise interlayer reactions for layered hexaniobate induce selective surface modification at the alternate interlayers, and the following ultrasonication leads to the formation of double-layered nanosheets. The further liquid phase MoC deposition with the double-layered nanosheets leads to the decoration of MoC nanoparticles on the surfaces of the double-layered nanosheets. The new hybrid can be regarded as a stacking of the two layers with anisotropically modified nanoparticles. The relatively high temperature in the MoC synthesis causes partial leaching of the grafted phosphonate groups. The exposed surface of the niobate nanosheets due to the partial leaching may interact with MoC to succeed in the hybridization. The hybrid after heating exhibits photocatalytic activity, indicating that this hybridization method can be useful for hybrid synthesis of semiconductor nanosheets and co-catalyst nanoparticles toward photocatalytic application.

RESUMEN

Microbial necromass is an important source and component of soil organic matter (SOM), especially within the most stable pools. Global change factors such as anthropogenic nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) inputs, climate warming, elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide (eCO2 ), and periodic precipitation reduction (drought) strongly affect soil microorganisms and consequently, influence microbial necromass formation. The impacts of these global change factors on microbial necromass are poorly understood despite their critical role in the cycling and sequestration of soil carbon (C) and nutrients. Here, we conducted a meta-analysis to reveal general patterns of the effects of nutrient addition, warming, eCO2 , and drought on amino sugars (biomarkers of microbial necromass) in soils under croplands, forests, and grasslands. Nitrogen addition combined with P and K increased the content of fungal (+21%), bacterial (+22%), and total amino sugars (+9%), consequently leading to increased SOM formation. Nitrogen addition alone increased solely bacterial necromass (+10%) because the decrease of N limitation stimulated bacterial more than fungal growth. Warming increased bacterial necromass, because bacteria have competitive advantages at high temperatures compared to fungi. Other global change factors (P and NP addition, eCO2 , and drought) had minor effects on microbial necromass because of: (i) compensation of the impacts by opposite processes, and (ii) the short duration of experiments compared to the slow microbial necromass turnover. Future studies should focus on: (i) the stronger response of bacterial necromass to N addition and warming compared to that of fungi, and (ii) the increased microbial necromass contribution to SOM accumulation and stability under NPK fertilization, and thereby for negative feedback to climate warming.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of novel RNAs with important biologic functions. The aberrant expression of circRNAs has been implicated in human diseases; however, the clinical significance of circRNAs in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the expression and clinical implications of novel_circ_0005280 in patients with NSCLC. METHODS: We evaluated differential circRNA expression in cancer and adjacent normal tissues from 3 patients with NSCLC via RNA sequencing. Among these circRNAs, 17 and 64 circRNAs showed higher and lower expressions, respectively. Novel_circ_0005280 expression in cancer tissues (n=41) was examined using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, and the results are presented in the form of paired graph and scatter graph and its correlation with clinicopathological features and patient prognosis was analyzed by drawing receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. RESULTS: Novel_circ_0005280 expression was significantly decreased in NSCLC tumor tissues (n=41, obtained via biopsies), compared with adjacent normal tissues (n=27). Novel_circ_0005280 expression was correlated with tumor diameter and age. The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve, cutoff, sensitivity, and specificity of novel_circ_0005280 were 0.944, 10.23, 85.2%, and 95.1%, respectively. Low novel_circ_0005280 expression was associated with a worse prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: Novel_circ_0005280 may be a useful biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of NSCLC.
