RESUMEN

Lewy body dementia (LBD), a class of disorders comprising Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), features substantial clinical and pathological overlap with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The identification of biomarkers unique to LBD pathophysiology could meaningfully advance its diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. Using quantitative mass spectrometry (MS), we measured over 9,000 proteins across 138 dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) tissues from a University of Pennsylvania autopsy collection comprising control, Parkinson's disease (PD), PDD, and DLB diagnoses. We then analyzed co-expression network protein alterations in those with LBD, validated these disease signatures in two independent LBD datasets, and compared these findings to those observed in network analyses of AD cases. The LBD network revealed numerous groups or "modules" of co-expressed proteins significantly altered in PDD and DLB, representing synaptic, metabolic, and inflammatory pathophysiology. A comparison of validated LBD signatures to those of AD identified distinct differences between the two diseases. Notably, synuclein-associated presynaptic modules were elevated in LBD but decreased in AD relative to controls. We also found that glial-associated matrisome signatures consistently elevated in AD were more variably altered in LBD, ultimately stratifying those LBD cases with low versus high burdens of concurrent beta-amyloid deposition. In conclusion, unbiased network proteomic analysis revealed diverse pathophysiological changes in the LBD frontal cortex distinct from alterations in AD. These results highlight the LBD brain network proteome as a promising source of biomarkers that could enhance clinical recognition and management.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder that develops over decades. AD brain proteomics reveals vast alterations in protein levels and numerous altered biologic pathways. Here, we compare AD brain proteome and network changes with the brain proteomes of amyloid ß (Aß)-depositing mice to identify conserved and divergent protein networks with the conserved networks identifying an Aß amyloid responsome. Proteins in the most conserved network (M42) accumulate in plaques, cerebrovascular amyloid (CAA), and/or dystrophic neuronal processes, and overexpression of two M42 proteins, midkine (Mdk) and pleiotrophin (PTN), increases the accumulation of Aß in plaques and CAA. M42 proteins bind amyloid fibrils in vitro, and MDK and PTN co-accumulate with cardiac transthyretin amyloid. M42 proteins appear intimately linked to amyloid deposition and can regulate amyloid deposition, suggesting that they are pathology modifiers and thus putative therapeutic targets. We posit that amyloid-scaffolded accumulation of numerous M42+ proteins is a central mechanism mediating downstream pathophysiology in AD.

INTRODUCTION: CT1812 is in clinical development for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) exploratory proteomics was employed to identify pharmacodynamic biomarkers of CT1812 in mild to moderate AD from two independent clinical trials. METHODS: Unbiased analysis of tandem-mass tag mass spectrometry (TMT-MS) quantitative proteomics, pathway analysis and correlation analyses with volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (vMRI) were performed for the SPARC cohort (NCT03493282). Comparative analyses and a meta-analysis with the interim SHINE cohort (NCT03507790; SHINE-A) followed by network analysis (weighted gene co-expression network analysis [WGCNA]) were used to understand the biological impact of CT1812. RESULTS: CT1812 pharmacodynamic biomarkers and biological pathways were identified that replicate across two clinical cohorts. The meta-analysis revealed novel candidate biomarkers linked to S2R biology and AD, and network analysis revealed treatment-associated networks driven by S2R.  DISCUSSION: Early clinical validation of CT1812 candidate biomarkers replicating in independent cohorts strengthens the understanding of the biological impact of CT1812 in patients with AD, and supports CT1812's synaptoprotective mechanism of action and its continued clinical development. CD2-Associated protein (CD2AP) is a candidate susceptibility gene for Alzheimer's disease, but its role in the mammalian central nervous system remains largely unknown. We show that CD2AP protein is broadly expressed in the adult mouse brain, including within cortical and hippocampal neurons, where it is detected at pre-synaptic terminals. Deletion of Cd2ap altered dendritic branching and spine density, and impaired ubiquitin-proteasome system activity. Moreover, in mice harboring either one or two copies of a germline Cd2ap null allele, we noted increased paired-pulse facilitation at hippocampal Schaffer-collateral synapses, consistent with a haploinsufficient requirement for pre-synaptic release. Whereas conditional Cd2ap knockout in the brain revealed no gross behavioral deficits in either 3.5- or 12-month-old mice, Cd2ap heterozygous mice demonstrated subtle impairments in discrimination learning using a touchscreen task. Based on unbiased proteomics, partial or complete loss of Cd2ap triggered perturbation of proteins with roles in protein folding, lipid metabolism, proteostasis, and synaptic function. Overall, our results reveal conserved, dose-sensitive requirements for CD2AP in the maintenance of neuronal structure and function, including synaptic homeostasis and plasticity, and inform our understanding of possible cell-type specific mechanisms in Alzheimer's Disease.

In this study, we examine the effectiveness of using a combination of a sono-photo-Fenton-like procedure and nano zero-valent iron catalyst (nZVI) to treat 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) in an aquatic environment. Zero-valent iron particles were generated by a chemical reduction technique. nZVI nanoparticles were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to characterize the nanocatalyst. The resulting nZVI nanoparticles were used as an addition in a sono-photo-Fenton method to remediate an aqueous solution contaminated with TNT. Furthermore, influences of operational factors such as temperature, catalyst dosage, wavelength, ultraviolet power, ultrasonic frequency and power, pH level, H2O2/nZVI ratio, initial TNT concentration, and reaction duration on the treatment of TNT were investigated. Under the conditions of an ideal pH of 3, temperature range of 40-45 °C, concentration of 50 mg per L TNT, dose of 2 mM of nZVI, and ratio of H2O2/Fe0 of 20, a treatment efficiency of 95.2% was achieved after a duration of 30 minutes. The sono-photo-Fenton process combined with nZVI showed a higher TNT removal efficiency compared to the Fenton, sono-Fenton, and photo-Fenton processes under the same conditions. Moreover, it promises a potential solution to treat TNT at the pilot scale while allowing reuse of the nZVI catalyst and the limitation of sludge.

Gross hematuria is one of the most common complications in postrenal transplant patients, accounting for 12% of all renal recipients. The management plan in these cases varies depending on different entities, including infection, renal cell carcinoma, chronic graft rejection, kidney calculus, or recurrence of primary disease. On the other hand, vascular malformation like arteriovenous malformation was less likely to be mentioned due to a lack of consensus in the natural history, pathogenesis, and current management. In this article, we report a 62-year-old man presenting with spontaneous hematuria for a week and 2 days of anuria after 3 years of renal transplantation. Abdominal ultrasound and abdominopelvic computed tomography noted an obstruction of the renal pelvis due to blood clots without signs of vascular injuries. An emergency operation was performed to remove blood clots in the renal pelvis, but after that, hematuria was still recurrence. A digital renal graft subtraction angiography (DSA) revealed an arteriovenous malformation (AVM)in the kidney allograft. This lesion was then successfully selective embolized with glue. Given the high accuracy of DSA, our case highlights the potential role of this imaging modality in diagnosing and treating AVM after failure with other modalities.

BACKGROUND: Gene expression can provide distinct information compared to clinical biomarkers in the context of longitudinal clinical outcomes in asthma patients. OBJECTIVE: This study examined the association between the gene expression levels of upstream (IL-25, IL-33, and TSLP) and downstream cytokines (IL-5, IL-4, and IL-13) in the T2 inflammatory pathway with a 12-month follow-up of exacerbation, lung function, and steroid use. METHODS: Transcriptomic sequencing analysis was performed on peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 279 adult asthmatics. Survival analysis and linear mixed-effect models were used to investigate potential differences between the high-level and low-level gene expression groups and the clinical outcomes. Analysis was performed separately for the upstream, downstream, and all 6 cytokines. RESULTS: In general, T2 inflammatory cytokine gene expression showed a weak correlation with blood eosinophil counts (all r < 0.1) and clinical outcomes. Among moderate-to-severe eosinophilic asthma (MSEA) patients, individuals with elevated levels of downstream cytokines were at increased risk of time-to-first exacerbation (p = 0.044) and a greater increase of inhaled corticosteroid use over time (p = 0.002) compared to those with lower gene expression. There was no association between baseline T2 inflammatory cytokine gene expression and the longitudinal changes in lung function over time among MSEA patients. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that, among MSEA patients, the gene expression levels of downstream cytokines in the T2 inflammatory pathway may serve as indicators for endotyping asthma.

Objective: To identify the association of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features with molecular subtypes of breast cancer (BC). Materials and methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 112 invasive BC patients with preoperative breast MRI. The confirmed diagnosis and molecular subtypes of BC were based on the postoperative specimens. MRI features were collected by experienced radiologists. The association of MRI features of each subtype was compared to other molecular subtypes in univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results: The proportions of luminal A, luminal B HER2-negative, luminal B HER2-positive, HER2-enriched, and triple-negative BC were 14.3 %, 52.7 %, 12.5 %, 10.7 %, and 9.8 %, respectively. Luminal A was associated with hypo-isointensityon T2-weighted images (OR=6.214, 95 % CI: 1.163-33.215) and non-restricted diffusion on DWI-ADC (OR=6.694, 95 % CI: 1.172-38.235). Luminal B HER2-negative was related to the presence of mass (OR=7.245, 95 % CI: 1.760-29.889) and slow/medium initial enhancement pattern (OR=3.654, 95 % CI: 1.588-8.407). There were no associations between MRI features and luminal B HER2-positive. HER2-enriched tended to present as non-mass enhancement lesions (OR=20.498, 95 % CI: 3.145-133.584) with fast uptake in the initial postcontrast phase (OR=9.788, 95 % CI: 1.689-56.740), and distortion (OR=11.471, 95 % CI: 2.250-58.493). Triple-negative were associated with unifocal (OR=7.877, 95 % CI: 1.180-52.589), hyperintensityon T2-weighted images (OR=14.496, 95 % CI: 1.303-161.328), rim-enhanced lesions (OR=18.706, 95 % CI: 1.915-182.764), and surrounding tissue edema (OR=5.768, 95 % CI: 1.040-31.987). Conclusion: Each molecular subtype of BC has distinct features on breast MRI. These characteristics can serve as an adjunct to immunohistochemistry in diagnosing molecular subtypes, particularly in cases, where traditional methods yield equivocal results.

Graphite is a versatile material used in various fields, particularly in the power source manufacturing industry. Nowadays, graphite holds a unique position in materials for anode electrodes in lithium-ion batteries. With a carbon content of over 99% being a requirement for graphite to serve as an electrode material, the graphite refinement process plays a pivotal role in the research and development of anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. This study used three different processes to purify spherical graphite through wet chemical methods. The spherical graphite after the purification processes was analysed for carbon content by using energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and was evaluated for structural and morphological characteristics through X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses. The analyses results indicate that the three-step process via H2SO4-NaOH-HCl cleaning can elevate the carbon content from 90% to above 99.9% while still maintaining the graphite structure and spherical morphology, thus enhancing the surface area of the material for anode application. Furthermore, the spherical graphite was studied for electrochemical properties when used as an anode for Li-ion batteries using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) measurements. The results demonstrated that the purification process significantly improves the material's capacity with a specific capacity of 350 mAh/g compared to the 280 mAh/g capacity of the anode made of spherical graphite without purification.

Preventative treatment for Alzheimer's Disease is of dire importance, and yet, cellular mechanisms underlying early regional vulnerability in Alzheimer's Disease remain unknown. In human patients with Alzheimer's Disease, one of the earliest observed pathophysiological correlates to cognitive decline is hyperexcitability. In mouse models, early hyperexcitability has been shown in the entorhinal cortex, the first cortical region impacted by Alzheimer's Disease. The origin of hyperexcitability in early-stage disease and why it preferentially emerges in specific regions is unclear. Using cortical-region and cell-type-specific proteomics coupled with ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology, we uncovered differential susceptibility to human-specific amyloid precursor protein (hAPP) in a model of sporadic Alzheimer's. Unexpectedly, our findings reveal that early entorhinal hyperexcitability may result from intrinsic vulnerability of parvalbumin (PV) interneurons, rather than the suspected layer II excitatory neurons. This vulnerability of entorhinal PV interneurons is specific to hAPP, as it could not be recapitulated with increased murine APP expression. However, partial replication of the findings could be seen after introduction of a murine APP chimera containing a humanized amyloid-beta sequence. Surprisingly, neurons in the Somatosensory Cortex showed no such vulnerability to adult-onset hAPP expression. hAPP-induced hyperexcitability in entorhinal cortex could be ameliorated by enhancing PV interneuron excitability in vivo. Co-expression of human Tau with hAPP decreased circuit hyperexcitability, but at the expense of increased pathological tau species. This study suggests early disease interventions targeting non-excitatory cell types may protect regions with early vulnerability to pathological symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease and downstream cognitive decline.

Objective: Our study aims to evaluate the value of 256-slice dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) in supporting prostatic artery embolization (PAE) under digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods: The study was conducted on 88 patients who underwent PAE to treat BPH from January 2022 to November 2023. Of these, 38 patients who had PAE without DECT were placed in group 1, while the other 50 patients with pre-interventional DECT were assigned to group 2. The results of DECT imaging of the prostate artery (PA) were compared with the results of DSA imaging. Test for statistically significant differences between the variables of the two research groups using the T - student test and Mann-Whitney test algorithms with p < 0.05 corresponding to a 95% confidence interval. The data were analyzed according to medical statistical methods using SPSS 20.0 software. Results: DECT can detect the PA origin in 96.1% of cases, identify atherosclerosis at the root of the artery with a sensitivity of 66.7% and a specificity of 89.5%, and present anastomosis with a sensitivity of 72.7% and a specificity of 72.2%. There is no statistically significant difference in PA diameter on DECT compared to DSA with 95% confidence. Group 2 used DECT for 3D rendering of the PA before PAE had procedure time reduced by 25.8%, fluoroscopy time reduced by 23.2%, dose-area product (DAP) reduced by 25.6%, contrast medium volume reduced by 33.1% compared to group 1 not using DECT, statistically significant with 95% confidence. Conclusion: DECT is a valuable method for planning before PAE to treat BPH. 3D rendering DECT of PA provides anatomical information that minimizes procedure time, fluoroscopy time, dose-area product, and contrast medium volume.

Psychosocial experiences affect brain health and aging trajectories, but the molecular pathways underlying these associations remain unclear. Normal brain function relies on energy transformation by mitochondria oxidative phosphorylation (OxPhos). Two main lines of evidence position mitochondria both as targets and drivers of psychosocial experiences. On the one hand, chronic stress exposure and mood states may alter multiple aspects of mitochondrial biology; on the other hand, functional variations in mitochondrial OxPhos capacity may alter social behavior, stress reactivity, and mood. But are psychosocial exposures and subjective experiences linked to mitochondrial biology in the human brain? By combining longitudinal antemortem assessments of psychosocial factors with postmortem brain (dorsolateral prefrontal cortex) proteomics in older adults, we find that higher well-being is linked to greater abundance of the mitochondrial OxPhos machinery, whereas higher negative mood is linked to lower OxPhos protein content. Combined, positive and negative psychosocial factors explained 18 to 25% of the variance in the abundance of OxPhos complex I, the primary biochemical entry point that energizes brain mitochondria. Moreover, interrogating mitochondrial psychobiological associations in specific neuronal and nonneuronal brain cells with single-nucleus RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) revealed strong cell-type-specific associations for positive psychosocial experiences and mitochondria in glia but opposite associations in neurons. As a result, these "mind-mitochondria" associations were masked in bulk RNA-seq, highlighting the likely underestimation of true psychobiological effect sizes in bulk brain tissues. Thus, self-reported psychosocial experiences are linked to human brain mitochondrial phenotypes.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is currently defined by the aggregation of amyloid-ß (Aß) and tau proteins in the brain. Although biofluid biomarkers are available to measure Aß and tau pathology, few markers are available to measure the complex pathophysiology that is associated with these two cardinal neuropathologies. Here, we characterized the proteomic landscape of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) changes associated with Aß and tau pathology in 300 individuals using two different proteomic technologies-tandem mass tag mass spectrometry and SomaScan. Integration of both data types allowed for generation of a robust protein coexpression network consisting of 34 modules derived from 5242 protein measurements, including disease-relevant modules associated with autophagy, ubiquitination, endocytosis, and glycolysis. Three modules strongly associated with the apolipoprotein E ε4 (APOE ε4) AD risk genotype mapped to oxidant detoxification, mitogen-associated protein kinase signaling, neddylation, and mitochondrial biology and overlapped with a previously described lipoprotein module in serum. Alterations of all three modules in blood were associated with dementia more than 20 years before diagnosis. Analysis of CSF samples from an AD phase 2 clinical trial of atomoxetine (ATX) demonstrated that abnormal elevations in the glycolysis CSF module-the network module most strongly correlated to cognitive function-were reduced by ATX treatment. Clustering of individuals based on their CSF proteomic profiles revealed heterogeneity of pathological changes not fully reflected by Aß and tau.

Although organ transplantation is associated with significant survival rates and cost benefits, postoperative complications still occur. Gastrointestinal complications, including those involving the stomach and intestines, account for 1-6% of posttransplant complications, with intestinal perforation specifically accounting for approximately 9%, depending on the center. In Vietnam, there are no comprehensive reports on these complications. Therefore, we report three clinical cases of gastrointestinal perforation following transplantation. Three cases of intestinal perforation are described in this case series. In 2023, a 16-year-old female patient who underwent heart transplantation for congenital heart disease was diagnosed with intestinal perforation on the 12th day. The patient required continued blood filtration support after surgery. In 2018, six days after liver transplantation, a 56-year-old male patient was diagnosed with intestinal perforation, which was subsequently repaired, and the ends of his intestines were removed. The patient was discharged in stable condition after 30 days. In 2017, five days after kidney transplantation, a 46-year-old female patient was diagnosed with intestinal perforation, which was repaired, and the perforation site was left open. The patient was discharged in stable condition after 40 days. Intestinal perforation is a relatively rare, but not uncommon, complication. Early diagnosis is challenging due to nonspecific clinical symptoms and signs. Considering the possibility of intestinal perforation and obtaining early abdominal computed tomography imaging can help prevent delayed diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE: To define tauopathy-associated changes in the human gray and white matter proteome. METHOD: We applied tandem mass tagged labeling and mass spectrometry, consensus, and ratio weighted gene correlation network analysis (WGCNA) to gray and white matter sampled from postmortem human dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. The sampled tissues included control as well as Alzheimer's disease, corticobasal degeneration, progressive supranuclear palsy, frontotemporal degeneration with tau pathology, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. RESULTS: Only eight proteins were unique to gray matter while six were unique to white matter. Comparison of the gray and white matter proteome revealed an enrichment of microglial proteins in the white matter. Consensus WGCNA sorted over 6700 protein isoforms into 46 consensus modules across the gray and white matter proteomic networks. Consensus network modules demonstrated unique and shared disease-associated microglial and endothelial protein changes. Ratio WGCNA sorted over 6500 protein ratios (white:gray) into 33 modules. Modules associated with mitochondrial proteins and processes demonstrated higher white:gray ratios in diseased tissues relative to control, driven by mitochondrial protein downregulation in gray and upregulation in white. INTERPRETATION: The dataset is a valuable resource for understanding proteomic changes in human tauopathy gray and white matter. The identification of unique and shared disease-associated changes across gray and white matter emphasizes the utility of examining both tissue types. Future studies of microglial, endothelial, and mitochondrial changes in white matter may provide novel insights into tauopathy-associated changes in human brain.

Aeromonas hydrophila has been identified as a causative agent of necrotizing fasciitis and myonecrosis, with most reported cases having a connection to aquatic-related trauma. Cases without such trauma history are rare in existing literature. Here, we present the case of a 56-year-old cirrhotic patient who lacked any prior aquatic-related trauma and arrived at the emergency department in a state of septic shock. The suspected route of entry was through necrotizing fasciitis and myonecrosis in his left forearm. Unfortunately, the patient succumbed to multi-organ failure and passed away within 12 hours of admission to the emergency department.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease, yet our comprehension predominantly relies on studies within the non-Hispanic White (NHW) population. Here we aimed to provide comprehensive insights into the proteomic landscape of AD across diverse racial and ethnic groups. Methods: Dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and superior temporal gyrus (STG) brain tissues were donated from multiple centers (Mayo Clinic, Emory University, Rush University, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine) and were harmonized through neuropathological evaluation, specifically adhering to the Braak staging and CERAD criteria. Among 1105 DLPFC tissue samples (998 unique individuals), 333 were from African American donors, 223 from Latino Americans, 529 from NHW donors, and the rest were from a mixed or unknown racial background. Among 280 STG tissue samples (244 unique individuals), 86 were African American, 76 Latino American, 116 NHW and the rest were mixed or unknown ethnicity. All tissues were uniformly homogenized and analyzed by tandem mass tag mass spectrometry (TMT-MS). Results: As a Quality control (QC) measure, proteins with more than 50% missing values were removed and iterative principal component analysis was conducted to remove outliers within brain regions. After QC, 9,180 and 9,734 proteins remained in the DLPC and STG proteome, respectively, of which approximately 9,000 proteins were shared between regions. Protein levels of microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT) and amyloid-precursor protein (APP) demonstrated AD-related elevations in DLPFC tissues with a strong association with CERAD and Braak across racial groups. APOE4 protein levels in brain were highly concordant with APOE genotype of the individuals. Discussion: This comprehensive region resolved large-scale proteomic dataset provides a resource for the understanding of ethnoracial-specific protein differences in AD brain.

INTRODUCTION: Oral hygiene is a crucial factor in oral health, especially in children. To increase the awareness of oral care behaviour among children, oral care motivation plays a critical role in daily dental practices. Therefore, this cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the current oral hygiene status and evaluate the association between oral care motivation and oral hygiene index in 7-9-year-old children at Primary School in Hanoi, Vietnam. METHODS: Clinical examinations were performed on 200 randomly selected children to assess the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S). Face-to-face interviews were applied to record students' intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for oral care through a questionnaire, which consisted of questions regarding demographic characteristics and oral care motivation. Data were analyzed using STATA 15.0 software and a p-value < 0.05 was statistically significant. RESULTS: The mean OHI-S score was 2.48 ± 0.72. Good and fair oral hygiene were observed in 7.5 % and 66 % of participants, respectively. Students' motivation for dental care was predominantly extrinsic, with a mean score of 15.87 ± 1.322. Higher motivation in dental care is statistically significantly associated with oral hygiene index score (Coef=-0.27). CONCLUSION: These results indicate that students with intrinsic motivation exhibit better oral hygiene practices. Consequently, strengthening oral health educational programs in primary schools based on intrinsic motivation could be helped improve the oral hygiene status and oral care behaviours of children.

INTRODUCTION: Cerebrovascular dysfunction is a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Nevertheless, detecting cerebrovascular changes within bulk tissues has limited our ability to characterize proteomic alterations from less abundant cell types. METHODS: We conducted quantitative proteomics on bulk brain tissues and isolated cerebrovasculature from the same individuals, encompassing control (N = 28), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) (N = 18), and AD (N = 21) cases. RESULTS: Protein co-expression network analysis identified unique cerebrovascular modules significantly correlated with amyloid plaques, cerebrovascular amyloid angiopathy (CAA), and/or tau pathology. The protein products within AD genetic risk loci were concentrated within cerebrovascular modules. The overlap between differentially abundant proteins in AD cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma with cerebrovascular network highlighted a significant increase of matrisome proteins, SMOC1 and SMOC2, in CSF, plasma, and brain. DISCUSSION: These findings enhance our understanding of cerebrovascular deficits in AD, shedding light on potential biomarkers associated with CAA and vascular dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics, patient's management approaches, and outcomes of the COVID-19 patients in Phu Tho Province, Vietnam. Methods: A retrospective, multicenter study of 2166 COVID-19 patients in 13 hospitals in Phutho Province, Vietnam. The subjects were divided into 3 groups based on vaccination status: unvaccinated group, 1st dose of vaccine group, 2nd dose of vaccine group. The clinical characteristics, management approaches, and outcomes were collected and compared between the 3 groups. Results: The hospitalization rate of the 3 groups decreased from the unvaccinated group, the 1st dose of vaccinated group, to the 2nd dose of vaccinated group, 42.61%; 30,24% and 27,15% respectively. The 19-40 years old group had the highest hospitalization rate (38,1%) together with the group that had not accepted the full COVID 19 vaccination dose (57,64%). The 2nd dose of vaccinated group had the lowest percentages of high temperature, cough, dyspnea, chest pain and sore throat. The unvaccinated group had the highest heart rate, respiratory rate and SpO2 compared to the two other groups. The percentage needing Immunomodulation and Anticoagulant Therapy was highest (6.8% and 1.4 % respectively) in the unvaccinated group. The percentage receiving Antiviral Therapy was highest (42,5%) in those who had received the 2nd dose of vaccine. Conclusions: COVID-19 vaccination improved the symptoms of the patients and should be accepted in all ages.
