BACKGROUND AND AIM: Severe hemodynamic fluctuations during dental treatment can trigger highly undesirable physical reactions. A study was made to determine whether the administration of propofol and sevoflurane contributes to the stabilization of hemodynamic parameters during dental treatment in pediatric patients versus the use of local anesthesia alone. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty pediatric patients needing dental treatment were assigned to either general anesthesia with local anesthesia (study group [SG]) or local anesthesia alone (control group [CG]). Two percent sevoflurane in oxygen (100% oxygen, 5 L/min) and continuous propofol infusion (target-controlled infusion [TCI], 2 µg/mL) were used as general anesthesia agents in SG; and 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 adrenaline was used as local anesthesia in both groups. Heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation were measured before starting dental treatment (baseline) and every 10 min during dental treatment. RESULTS: Blood pressure (p < .001), heart rate (p = .021) and oxygen saturation (p = .007) decreased substantially after the administration of general anesthesia. The levels of these parameters subsequently remained low and then recovered at the end of the procedure. On the other hand, the oxygen saturation values remained closer to baseline in SG versus CG. In contrast, the hemodynamic parameters experienced lesser fluctuations in CG than in SG. CONCLUSIONS: General anesthesia affords more favorable cardiovascular parameters during the entire dental treatment in comparison to local anesthesia alone (blood pressure and heart rate decrease significantly and oxygen saturation proves more stable and with values closer to baseline), and allows dental treatment to be performed on healthy, lacking cooperative ability children who otherwise could not be treated with local anesthesia alone. No side effects were observed in either group.

OBJECTIVES: To determine whether intravenous (IV) sedation would contribute to the stabilization of patients' hemodynamics during periodontal and oral surgical procedures, and to evaluate the patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Periodontal or oral surgery patients were recruited and distributed into two groups: (1) sedation group (SG): intravenous sedation plus local anesthesia; (2) control group (CG): local anesthesia only. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP), heart rate (HR), and oxygen saturation (SaO2), were monitored at 15-min intervals from sitting in the dental chair (baseline) until the end of the treatment. In addition, a subjective assessment of PROMs was obtained through a post-operative questionnaire. RESULTS: Forty-nine patients (25 in SG and 24 in CG) were included. The highest SBP and DBP were significantly higher in CG compared to the SG (141.1 ± 18.4 and 133.6 ± 15.1, respectively in SBP; and 85.5 ± 11.0 and 82.9 ± 10.1, respectively in DBP), but no mean significant differences were found between groups (P value of 0.85 and 0.72 for systolic and diastolic BP, respectively). HR and SaO2 did not show statistical intra- and inter-group differences. The overall patient satisfaction score was significantly higher in the SG group compared to CG. CONCLUSIONS: Intravenous moderate sedation seems to contribute to the stabilization of patient's hemodynamics, especially the systolic blood pressure, although small differences have been found. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Intravenous sedation seems to contribute to stabilize the hemodynamic values, and enhances the patient satisfaction after periodontal and oral surgical treatment in the dental office.

PURPOSE: To realize a systematic review with prospective meta-analysis aiming to compare the accuracy of static fully guided implant placement depending on the drill key modality (conventional drill key surgery systems versus newer keyless systems) and evaluate the impact of deviations factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An electronic systematic search was conducted to identify prospective clinical trials matching inclusion criteria. The variables of interest were coronal global, apical, vertical, and angular deviations. The types of edentulism, and surgical guide support were investigated as deviation factors. Meta-regression (mixed-effect model) was performed. Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochrane's I² test and interpretation thresholds. RESULTS: A total of 1233 implants in 475 patients were analyzed (18 studies included). Coronal global deviation was significantly lower in the keyless group than in the key group (-0.36 mm; 95% confidence interval [CI] -0.62, -0.09; p=0.008). Angulation control of the keyless system was superior to that of the key system (-0.36 degrees; 95% CI -0.75, 0.02; p=0.063). Non-significant differences were found between both groups in apical (p=0.684) and vertical deviations (p=0.958). Significant influence of the type of edentulism (single, partial, total) and surgical guide support (tooth, mucosa, bone) on the overall amount of coronal global, apical, and angular deviations was found (p<0.001). Lowest deviations were found in partial edentulism and tooth-supported surgical guide groups. (p<0.001). CONCLUSION: Keyless static fully guided surgical systems allowed significantly better control of coronal and angular deviations than conventional systems. The types of edentulism and surgical guide support seemed to influence the positioning accuracy.

(1) Background: Dynamic guided surgery is a computer-guided freehand technology that allows highly accurate procedures to be carried out in real time through motion-tracking instruments. The aim of this research was to compare the accuracy between dynamic guided surgery (DGS) and alternative implant guidance methods, namely, static guided surgery (SGS) and freehand (FH). (2) Methods: Searches were conducted in the Cochrane and Medline databases to identify randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) and prospective and retrospective case series and to answer the following focused question: "What implant guidance tool is more accurate and secure with regard to implant placement surgery?" The implant deviation coefficient was calculated for four different parameters: coronal and apical horizontal, angular, and vertical deviations. Statistical significance was set at a p-value of 0.05 following application of the eligibility criteria. (3) Results: Twenty-five publications were included in this systematic review. The results show a non-significant weighted mean difference (WMD) between the DGS and the SGS in all of the assessed parameters: coronal (n = 4 WMD = 0.02 mm; p = 0.903), angular (n = 4 WMD = -0.62°; p = 0.085), and apical (n = 3 WMD = 0.08 mm; p = 0.401). In terms of vertical deviation, not enough data were available for a meta-analysis. However, no significant differences were found among the techniques (p = 0.820). The WMD between DGS and FH demonstrated significant differences favoring DGS in three parameters as follows: coronal (n = 3 WMD = -0.66 mm; p =< 0.001), angular (n = 3 WMD = -3.52°; p < 0.001), and apical (n = 2 WMD = -0.73 mm; p =< 0.001). No WMD was observed regarding the vertical deviation analysis, but significant differences were seen among the different techniques (p = 0.038). (4) Conclusions: DGS is a valid alternative treatment achieving similar accuracy to SGS. DGS is also more accurate, secure, and precise than the FH method when transferring the presurgical virtual implant plan to the patient.

PURPOSE: To demonstrate the likelihood of the polyetheretherketone (PEEK), zirconia (ZrO2), and titanium (Ti) disks to support proliferation and hemidesmosome formation of gingival cells. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Water contact angle was performed on each material, and surface roughness (Ra) was measured. Scanning electron microscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used. Later, oral keratinocyte cells were cultured on disks, and metabolic activity and expression of hemidesmosome markers, integrin α6 and ß4, in relation to the biomaterial disks at 1, 3, and 5 days of cell culture were quantified. Tissue culture polystyrene was used as the control. Statistical analysis was performed with analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Tukey post hoc comparison test. A P value of < .05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: The water contact angle ranged from 70.2 degrees (Ti) to a maximum of hydrophobicity of 93.3 degrees (PEEK). Ra was highest on ZrO2, followed by PEEK. Ti showed the most keratinocyte metabolic activity at 1, 3, and 5 culture periods. Contrarily, ZrO2 and PEEK disks had lower keratinocyte metabolic activity at all observation times, with no statistical differences between both groups. Integrin α6 and ß4 expression was highest on TCPS and ZrO2 compared to Ti and PEEK. CONCLUSION: Keratinocytes proliferated faster on Ti than on ZrO2 and PEEK substrates, and expression of hemidesmosome formation markers, integrin α6 and ß4, were higher on ZrO2 than either Ti or PEEK. Background: Very limited data are available on the hemodynamic and ventilatory changes during sedation and general anesthesia using bispectral index (BIS) monitoring in intellectually disabled children. The purpose was to determine the hemodynamic and ventilatory changes after propofol and sevoflurane administration in children with special needs (CSN) versus healthy children (HC) during dental treatment. Material and Methods: Forty pediatric patients needing dental treatment were allocated into two groups: children without systemic disease (healthy children [HC]) and mentally disabled children (children with special needs [CSN]). Sevoflurane in oxygen (100% oxygen, 5 l/min) and continuous propofol infusion (target-controlled infusion [TCI], 2 µg/ml) were used as sedative agents, and 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 adrenaline was used as local anesthesia in both groups. Heart rate (HR), oxygen saturation (SaO2), respiratory rate (RR), exhaled carbon dioxide (CO2), blood pressure (BP) and bispectral monitoring (BIS) values were recorded during the entire dental treatment procedure. Results: A statistically significant decrease in systolic BP, diastolic BP and RR was observed, with no significant differences between the healthy and disabled groups. In contrast, the HR and BIS values were lower in the CSN group than in the healthy patients (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: Patients with special needs had lower HR and BIS values than healthy patients, while BP, SaO2 and exhaled CO2 showed similar results in both groups. RESUMEN
PURPOSE: To assess the cumulative failure rate of 4,842 implants comprising six commercial implant brands in a university setting, and to evaluate the influence of different risk factors on the implant failure rate. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective chart review was conducted in patients receiving dental implants at the School of Dentistry of the International University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) from 2011 to 2018. The inclusion criterion was patients presenting at least one failed implant. RESULTS: The cohort study included 1,510 patients who received a total of 4,842 implants. The cumulative failure rate was 4.9% and 10.8% at the implant and patient levels, respectively. The multiple regression analysis showed that for the same number of implants per patient, variables such as age and sex were not associated with higher implant failure rates. Furthermore, in considering the combination of arch-sector, a statistically significant reduction in failure rate was observed in the posterior maxilla (OR = 0.66, P = .038) and in the posterior mandible (OR = 0.64, P = .037). The results showed all implant brands offering high implant survival rates (> 91%). Nobel Biocare and Straumann implants significantly reduced the risk of implant failure (OR = 0.37, P = .021 and OR = 0.53, P = .024, respectively), while no significant differences were recorded among Klockner (2.8%), MIS (5.4%), Biomet 3i (7.1%), and Astra Tech (8.4%; P ≥ .05). No association was found between implant loss and bone augmentation, time of implant placement, smoking, and history of periodontal disease. CONCLUSION: The implant failure rates obtained in a university setting resulted in overall cumulative rates of 4.9% and 10.8% at the implant and patient levels, respectively, over a 7-year period. Male sex and implants placed in the anterior mandible may be associated with a higher risk of implant failure. Nobel Biocare and Straumann implants seem to positively affect implant survival rate.

Background: Tooth autotransplantation is defined as the surgical repositioning of an autogenous tooth in another surgical site within the same individual. Aim: The aim of this research was to analyze the outcome of tooth transplantation using immature donor teeth compared with closed apex teeth and to compare differences between donor tooth positions on the arch. Methods: Electronic and manual literature searches were performed in different databases, including the National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE), EMBASE (OVID), Cochrane Central (CENTRAL), and the digital library of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC University) from 1978 to March 2021. Studies were selected when they fulfilled the following criteria: only human prospective clinical studies, minimum sample size of 10 patients, minimum follow-up of 1 year, studies reporting or with at least deducible data on survival rates, immediate tooth autotransplantation with completed or incomplete root formation, and publications in the English language. A meta-analysis of random effects was developed to estimate the global effect measure of the survival rate, success rate, and root resorption involving the total sample, as well as open- and closed-apex groups. Results: Twenty-four articles were eligible for analysis. The Cohen's kappa corresponding to this review was 0.87, and the risk assessment was considered low-moderate for the included studies. Overall survival and success rates were 95.9% and 89.4%, respectively, with a mean follow-up of 4 years and an overall mean age of 25.2 ± 12.3 years. Closed apex teeth showed a survival rate of 3.9% lower than that of open apex teeth. Higher complication rates were found for both inflammatory external root resorption and replacement root resorption in the closed-apex group, without reaching statistical significance. Conclusions: Tooth autotransplantation is a viable treatment alternative, regardless of the apical condition, with high survival and success rates after a mean follow-up of 4 years. Open-apex donor teeth could be considered the gold-standard option, showing lower complication rates when compared to closed-apex donor teeth. Future randomized controlled clinical studies are needed to examine the long-term prognosis of this technique.
RESUMEN
The purpose of this clinical series was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of 20 zirconia dental implants, with a minimum follow-up of two years. Patients with at least one zirconia dental implant were included, with a mean follow-up of 34.05 months. The patient complaints such as pain and foreign body sensation, as well as clinical parameters including peri-implant infections with suppuration, implant mobility, gingival index (GI), modified plaque index (mPI), modified sulcus bleeding index (mBI), probing depth (PD) and radiological distance between the implant shoulder to the closest mesial and distal bone-to-implant contact (BIC), were assessed. All zirconia implants were successfully integrated without any pain or foreign body sensation. No mobility was detected in any of the 20 implants. Clinical examination revealed a mean PD of 2.56 mm and a radiological mean distance between the implant shoulder and the initial site of visible bone-to-implant contact (BIC) of 1.44 mm. In addition, GI, mPI and mBI indicated minimal to no inflammation. Results obtained from this series suggest that one-piece zirconia dental implants achieve good clinical and radiographic outcomes over a mean follow-up of 34 months and may be deemed a good option in patients with favorable bone conditions.

AIM: The main objective was to evaluate the accuracy of dynamic navigation-guided surgery (DNGS) for implant positioning performed by a novice operator. The secondary objectives were to analyze the operator's learning curve and identify possible complications deriving from the technique. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-five implants were placed in eight partially edentulous human heads. Preoperative CBCT scans were imported to planning software to determine the implant positions. Implants were placed using a dynamic navigation system. Postoperative CBCTs were superimposed onto the implant planning images. Discrepancies between the virtually planned implant positions and the postoperative positions were evaluated by measuring horizontal platform deviation, apex deviation, apicocoronal (vertical) deviation, and angular deviation. RESULTS: Mean platform, apex, vertical, and angle deviations were 1.55 ± 0.81 mm, 2.45 ± 0.84 mm, 1.59 ± 0.70 mm, and 5.56 ± 4.03 degrees, respectively. No significant differences were found between the maxilla and mandible or between anterior and posterior sites. A flat learning curve was observed, with the exception of the implant platform, where a tendency toward improvement in accuracy was observed between the 8th and the 17th implant placed. No complications were reported. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results of a study performed by a novice operator on a cadaveric model, DNGS allows accurate implant placement within a 2-mm safety margin in terms of implant platform and vertical positions, and a 3-mm margin in apical vicinities. OBJECTIVE: A cohort prospective study was conducted to assess the three-dimensional positioning accuracy of the implant between pre-surgical and the final implant position using a static fully guided approach in the posterior area of the jaws. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 60 implants (30 patients) were digitally analyzed after superimposing the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) files obtained from the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) pre- and post-implant placement. The software calculations included deviations at the implant shoulder and at the implant apex, global deviation (3D offset), and angle deviation. Statistical analysis was performed with α = 0.05. RESULTS: Considering the total number of implants, mesiodistal, buccolingual, and apicocoronal mean deviations at the shoulder and implant apex were equal or below 0.21 ± 0.69 mm, and only the buccolingual mean deviation at the apex reached up to 0.67 ± 1.06 mm. The mesiodistal and apicocoronal deviations were not statistically significant at both the shoulder and apex levels of the implant. The mean total angular deviation was 5.62° ± 4.09. The main limitation of this surgical approach was the requirement for a wide mouth opening. CONCLUSIONS: Static fully guided surgery for dental implant placement exhibits minimum deviations respect to presurgical planning. The main limitation in the posterior areas is the requirement for a wide mouth opening. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Even with minimum deviations clinically acceptable, precautions and safety margins must be respected when using static full-guided surgery to place dental implants.

BACKGROUND: The current evidence regarding the alterations experienced by the alveolar ridge (hard tissue changes) after implant removal due to peri-implantitis is limited. PURPOSE: To assess the hard tissue dimensional changes following implant removal due to peri-implantitis. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Clinical records were examined to identify patients with implants that had to be removed due to a hopeless prognosis secondary to peri-implantitis due to expendability of peri-implantitis implants for functional reasons. Patients with preoperative and postoperative cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were included. Patient-related, implant-related, and surgery-related factors were assessed based on the clinical records. Linear measurements were made to evaluate the influence of bone plate thickness (BPT), ridge width (RW), and ridge height (RH) at various levels upon the outcome of implant removal. A descriptive statistical analysis of the quantitative and qualitative variables was performed. Correlations of the variables with the primary outcome (dimensional changes) were tested using univariate and multivariate analyses (multinomial random intercept mixed model linear regressions). RESULTS: A total of 26 patients (nimplants = 79) met the eligibility criteria. The mean decrease in RW at 1 and 3 mm below the crest was 11.3% and 4.4%, respectively (P < 0.001). Buccal and lingual RH was significantly reduced by 2.2% and 6.3%, respectively (P < 0.001). Few patient-related, implant-related, and surgery-related factors appeared to have an impact upon the hard tissue dimensional changes. Bone regeneration simultaneous to implant removal minimized the dimensional changes of the ridge both vertically (5% lesser buccal RH reduction) and horizontally (12% lesser RW reduction) when compared with spontaneous healing. The use of a reverse-torque removal kit seemed to be critical in limiting the dimensional changes of the ridge. CONCLUSIONS: Minimal hard tissue changes can be expected following implant removal due to peri-implantitis. Simultaneous bone regeneration procedures and the use of a removal kit may considerably reduce the impact upon the dimensional changes (NCT04534361).

BACKGROUND: Tooth autotransplantation is a valid method for replacing non-restorable teeth. This study aimed to assess mid-term survival and success of autotransplanted third molars and the clinical periodontal parameters and factors predicting successful periodontal attachment apparatus regeneration. METHODS: In total, 36 patients who had undergone extraction and subsequent autotransplantation of 36 third molars using virtual planning and computer-aided rapid prototyping models by an oral surgeon and endodontist were eligible. Probing pocket depth (PPD), gingival recession (REC), clinical attachment level (CAL), pulpal and periapical healing, root resorption, and radiographic bone loss (RBL) were evaluated. Additionally, a questionnaire evaluated patient-reported outcomes. RESULTS: The mean age of the participants was 30.2 years with a mean follow-up duration of 29.42 ± 14.56 months. The overall survival and success rates were 97.2% and 91.7%, respectively. No statistically significant differences were found in success and survival rates between open and closed apex groups or between compromised and intact buccal bone groups. No signs of pulp necrosis were found in the open apex group. Progressive replacement resorption was detected in one closed apex case. The mean PPD was 2.7 ± 0.45 mm for all transplanted teeth. REC was 0.13 mm higher in transplanted teeth than in previous hopeless teeth. CAL changes were neither clinically relevant (-0.17 ± 0.66 mm) nor statistically significant. The reported patient satisfaction was high. CONCLUSIONS: Autotransplantation of third molars is a predictable treatment method, with a 2.5-year cumulative tooth survival and success of 97.2% and 91.7%, respectively, which were not influenced by recipient site integrity or root development.

OBJECTIVES: To compare the intra-osseous temperature reached during bone drilling for dental implant placement using open versus closed static surgical guides and evaluate the influence of bone density, osteotomy drilling depth, and irrigation fluid temperature. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 960 osteotomies were performed with 2 mm pilot drills in 16 solid rigid polyurethane foam blocks. Two main variables were considered: the guide type (open or closed guide) and bone density (hard (D1) or soft (D4). The blocks were divided into four groups according to the type of surgical template and bone density as follows: group one: closed guide and hard bone; group two: open guide and hard bone; group three: closed guide and soft bone; and group four: open guide and soft bone. A combination of different experimental conditions was used, including different bone osteotomy depths (6 or 13 mm) and irrigation fluid temperatures (5°C or 21°C). RESULTS: The highest mean temperature was found in group one (28.29 ± 4.02°C). In the soft bone groups (three and four), the mean maximum temperature decreased compared to groups one and two (dense bone) and was always higher with closed guides (23.38 ± 1.92°C) compared to open guides (21.97 ± 1.22°C) (p < .001). The osteotomy depth and irrigation fluid temperature also significantly influenced the bone temperature (p < .001), especially in hard bone. CONCLUSIONS: The greatest heat generation was observed in high-density bone. The final intra-bone temperature was about 1°C higher with a closed static surgical guide than with an open guide. The heat generation in osteotomy sites was substantially reduced by cooling the irrigation fluid to 5°C.

BACKGROUND: A cross-sectional study was designed to shed light on the clinical sequelae and patient satisfaction after dental implant removal (IR). METHODS: Patients undergoing ≥1 IRs were eligible. The reasons for implant failure, clinical and radiological parameters before and after IR, and the surgical and prosthetic treatments offered after IR was assessed. Patient satisfaction was recorded and the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP)-14 was used to document patient self-reported dysfunction and discomfort attributed to IR. Lastly, patient expectations after IR were also evaluated. RESULTS: Thirty-one patients with 45 implants were analyzed. Peri-implantitis was the main reason for IR (64.5%). The average implant survival time before IR was 120.3 ± 88.2 months. Signs of infection (51.7%) and bleeding on probing (37.5%) were common signs detected at the time of IR. Guided bone regeneration was the intervention most commonly applied simultaneously to IR (74.1%). The reported degree of satisfaction was high, and the overall OHIP-14 score was low. However, a certain patient reluctance to undergo future implant placement in the same clinic or with the same professional was recorded, and a statistically significant increase in adherence to the implant maintenance routine was observed after IR. CONCLUSIONS: Peri-implantitis is the leading cause for IR. Guided bone regeneration is commonly applied to attenuate the clinical sequelae of IR. Nonetheless, IR does not seem to affect patients' satisfaction nor their quality of life, though a certain patient reluctance to undergo future implant placement in the same clinic or with the same professional was reported.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of bone type, drill diameter, drilling speed, and irrigation on heat generation while performing osteotomy for dental implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Six polyurethane foam blocks simulating type I (dense) and type IV (soft) bone were selected for the study. Each block was subjected to two different experimental conditions for each drill (2- and 3.5-mm diameter): three sub-groups were created: (a) revolutions per minute (50, 100, or 800 rpm) and (b) irrigation (with or without irrigation). RESULTS: In 2-mm drill group, maximum temperature attained was practically identical: 23.73 ± 2.28 °C in the cortical bone and 23.74 ± 2.03 °C in the cancellous bone. For 3.5-mm, groups showed similar results (25.01 ± 1.88 °C for cortical and 24.05 ± 1.94 °C for trabecular bone). In any type of bone, the presence of irrigating fluid helped to control the maximum temperature (p = 0.001). When comparing the 2-mm and 3.5-mm drills, most differences were found at 100 rpm without irrigation (p < 0.001) and at 800 rpm with irrigation (p = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Maximum temperature attained was always below the critical threshold that can cause osteonecrosis, showing that both external irrigation with higher drilling speeds and no irrigation with lower speeds were effective methods to avoid excessive heat generation. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Despite being always below the critical temperature, bone type, drill diameter, drilling speed, and irrigation must be considered temperature-influencing factors during implant osteotomies.

PURPOSE: To compare the accuracy of different modalities of implant placement-static fully guided, static half-guided, and freehand surgery-through meta-analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A thorough electronic and manual systematic search was conducted to identify applicable randomized clinical trials (RCTs) for evaluating the implant positioning accuracy between different static implant navigation surgeries. The coronal and apical horizontal deviation, vertical deviation, apical angle, and chair time were estimated as the weighted mean differences and standard deviation with confidence intervals. A P value of .05 was set for statistical significance. RESULTS: Based on the 10 RCTs that met the inclusion criteria for the quantitative analyses, results from the meta-analyses demonstrated the following: (1) a coronal deviation significant difference favoring the fully guided approach compared with the half-guided (weighted mean difference of -0.51 mm) and freehand approaches (weighted mean difference of -1.18 mm); (2) a significant weighted mean difference between the fully guided and half-guided approaches in relation to the apical deviation (weighted mean difference of -0.75 mm); (3) the vertical comparison did not yield significant weighted mean differences between the fully guided and half-guided techniques (-0.23 mm) and lacked statistically significant difference between the fully guided and freehand techniques (weighted mean difference of -0.17 mm); (4) the apical angle deviation demonstrated a significant weighted mean difference in favor of the fully guided approach compared with the half-guided group (weighted mean difference of -3.63 degrees); and (5) the comparison of chair time between the investigated groups did not exhibit a significant difference in any of the techniques. CONCLUSION: Static fully guided implant navigation surgery has the highest accuracy for transmitting the presurgical positioning planning to the patient, followed by static half-guided surgery, while the freehand implant placement provides the least accuracy.
