RESUMEN

Human hippocampal organoids (hHOs) derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) have emerged as promising models for investigating neurodegenerative disorders, such as schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. However, obtaining the electrical information of these free-floating organoids in a noninvasive manner remains a challenge using commercial multi-electrode arrays (MEAs). The three-dimensional (3D) MEAs developed recently acquired only a few neural signals due to limited channel numbers. Here, we report a hippocampal cyborg organoid (cyb-organoid) platform coupling a liquid metal-polymer conductor (MPC)-based mesh neuro-interface with hHOs. The mesh MPC (mMPC) integrates 128-channel multielectrode arrays distributed on a small surface area (~2*2 mm). Stretchability (up to 500%) and flexibility of the mMPC enable its attachment to hHOs. Furthermore, we show that under Wnt3a and SHH activator induction, hHOs produce HOPX+ and PAX6+ progenitors and ZBTB20+PROX1+ dentate gyrus (DG) granule neurons. The transcriptomic signatures of hHOs reveal high similarity to the developing human hippocampus. We successfully detect neural activities from hHOs via the mMPC from this cyb-organoid. Compared with traditional planar devices, our non-invasive coupling offers an adaptor for recording neural signals from 3D models.

RESUMEN

This work was to demonstrate the relationship between serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3), serum phosphorus (SP), and parathyroid hormone (PTH) and parathyroid function after central lymph node dissection (CLND) in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). 200 PTC patients after CLND were included, who were rolled into a control group (CG) (n = 89 cases without hypoparathyroidism) and an observation group (OG) (n = 111 cases with complicated hypoparathyroidism). The 1,25(OH)2D3, SP, and PTH levels were detected, and the diagnostic effect of these indicators was assessed. The serum PTH levels of patients in CG after surgery were normal relative to those before surgery, while the serum PTH of patients in OG was relatively lower. 1,25(OH)2D3 concentration of patients in OG was also inferior to CG, while the SP level was superior (P < 0.05). Hypoparathyroidism was positively correlated with serum PTH (r = 0.382) and 1,25(OH)2D3 (r = 0.321) and negatively correlated with SP (r = - 0.211). The area under the curve (AUC) (0.893), sensitivity (90.83%), and specificity (94.77%) of the joint diagnosis of 1,25(OH)2D3 + SP + PTH were greatly superior to those of the single diagnosis and the pairwise diagnosis with the three indicators (P < 0.05). Hypoparathyroidism in patients with PTC after CLND surgery was positively correlated with 1,25(OH)2D3 and PTH and negatively correlated with SP concentration. In addition, the combination diagnosis of 1,25(OH)2D3, PTH, and SP worked well.

RESUMEN

Surface electromyography (sEMG) can provide multiplexed information about muscle performance. If current sEMG electrodes are stretchable, arrayed, and able to be used multiple times, they would offer adequate high-quality data for continuous monitoring. The lack of these properties delays the widespread use of sEMG in clinics and in everyday life. Here, we address these constraints by design of an adhesive dry electrode using tannic acid, polyvinyl alcohol, and PEDOT:PSS (TPP). The TPP electrode offers superior stretchability (~200%) and adhesiveness (0.58 N/cm) compared to current electrodes, ensuring stable and long-term contact with the skin for recording (>20 dB; >5 days). In addition, we developed a metal-polymer electrode array patch (MEAP) comprising liquid metal (LM) circuits and TPP electrodes. The MEAP demonstrated better conformability than commercial arrays, resulting in higher signal-to-noise ratio and more stable recordings during muscle movements. Manufactured using scalable screen-printing, these MEAPs feature a completely stretchable material and array architecture, enabling real-time monitoring of muscle stress, fatigue, and tendon displacement. Their potential to reduce muscle and tendon injuries and enhance performance in daily exercise and professional sports holds great promise.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to explore the changes of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and programmed death-1 (PD-1) expression on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and evaluate their association with organ failure and mortality during early sepsis. METHODS: In total, 40 healthy controls and 198 patients with sepsis were included in this study. Peripheral blood was collected within the first 24 h after the diagnosis of sepsis. The expression of PD-L1 and PD-1 was determined on APCs, such as B cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells (DCs), by flow cytometry. Cytokines in plasma, such as interferon-γ (IFN-γ), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-6, IL-10, and IL-17A were determined by Luminex assay. RESULTS: PD-1 expression decreased significantly on B cells, monocytes, myeloid DCs (mDCs), and plasmacytoid DCs (pDCs) as the severity of sepsis increased. PD-1 expression was also markedly decreased in non-survivors compared with survivors. In contrast, PD-L1 expression was markedly higher on mDCs, pDCs, and monocytes in patients with sepsis than in healthy controls and in non-survivors than in survivors. The PD-L1 expression on APCs (monocytes and DCs) was weakly related to organ dysfunction and inflammation. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the PD-1 percentage of monocytes (monocyte PD-1%)+APACHE II model (0.823) and monocyte PD-1%+SOFA model (0.816) had higher prognostic value than other parameters alone. Monocyte PD-1% was an independent risk factor for 28-day mortality. CONCLUSION: The severity of sepsis was correlated with PD-L1 or PD-1 over-expression on APCs. PD-L1 in monocytes and DCs was weakly correlated with inflammation and organ dysfunction during early sepsis. The combination of SOFA or APACHE II scores with monocyte PD-1% could improve the prediction ability for mortality.

RESUMEN

High biocompatibility and stability against water and scratch are crucial for liquid metal-based flexible electronics. Although previous studies have reported the chemical modification of liquid metal nanoparticles which can promote their water-stability and solution-processability, the modification process is complicated and hard to scale up. In particular, polydopamine (PD)-coated liquid metal nanoparticles (LMNPs) have not been used in flexible devices. We report the synthesis of the PD on LMNPs by thermal processing, which is controllable, fast, straightforward, and scalable. Because of the adhesiveness of PD, the PD@LM ink enables high-resolution printing on many substrates. The circuit printed by PD@LM shows high stability against repeated stretch in water (sustaining cardiomyocyte beating for 1 month─around 3 million times) and scratch. This conductive ink is highly biocompatible, conductive (4000 s/cm), and stretchable (up to 800% elongation). We cultured cardiomyocytes onto the PD@LM electrode and recorded the membrane potential change under electrical stimulation. For in vivo use, we fabricated a stable electrode to detect the electrocardiogram signal of a beating heart.

RESUMEN

Natural killer (NK) cells are the critical elements of the innate immune response and implicated in rapidly recognizing and eliminating cancer cells. However, the tumor-suppressive ability of NK cells is often impaired in several cancer types. The critical roles of microRNAs have been elucidated by increasing evidences, while the regulation of miR-338-3p in anti-tumor activation of NK cells and its relationship with estrogen in breast cancer (BC) are still confusing. Here, miR-338-3p level was found to be significantly downregulated in BC tissues and estrogen receptor positive (ER+ ) cells, this difference was more obvious in ER+ patients or BC patients at advanced stage (TNM III and IV). MiR-338-3p level was shown to be downregulated by 17ß-estradiol in BC cells (MDA-MB-231 cells and MCF-7) in vitro. MiR-338-3p overexpression decreased disintegrin and metalloprotease-17 (ADAM17) secretion in MDA-MB-231 (ER- ) and MCF-7 (ER+ ) cells. In addition, miR-338-3p overexpression or treatment with anti-ADAM17 antibody could down-regulate granzyme B, CD16, and NKG2D in NK cells, which was reversed by human recombinant ADAM17. Furthermore, these educated NK cells could promote the viability of MDA-MB-231 or MCF-7 cells. Taken together, our results demonstrate that miR-338-3p was negatively regulated by estrogen in BC cells, impairing NK cell's activity by the up-regulation of ADAM17, and conversely promoted the viability of BC cells. Therefore, the estrogen/miR-338-3p/ADAM17 axis is critically implicated in BC pathogenesis and may provide potential targets for BC diagnosis and treatment.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of acupotomy on the fat infiltration degree of lumbar multifidus muscle (LMM) in patients with lumbar disc herniation after percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED). METHODS: A total of 104 patients with lumbar disc herniation treated with PTED were randomly divided into an observation group (52 cases, 3 cases dropped off) and a control group (52 cases, 4 cases dropped off). Patients of both groups received rehabilitation training of two weeks 48 h after PTED treatment. The observation group was treated with acupotomy (L3-L5 Jiaji [EX-B 2]) once within 24 h after PTED. In the two groups, the fat infiltration cross sectional area (CSA) of LMM was compared before and 6 months after PTED, the visual analogue scale (VAS) score and Oswestry disability index (ODI) score were observed before and 1, 6 months after PTED. The correlation between fat infiltration CSA of LMM in each segment and VAS score was analyzed. RESULTS: Six months after PTED, the fat infiltration CSA of LMM in L4/L5 and the total L3-S1 segments of the observation group was lower than that before PTED (P<0.05), and the fat infiltration CSA of LMM in L4/L5 of the observation group was lower than the control group (P<0.01). One month after PTED, the ODI and VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before PTED (P<0.01), and those in the observation group were lower than the control group (P<0.05). Six months after PTED, the ODI and VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before PTED and 1 month after PTED (P<0.01), and those in the observation group were lower than the control group (P<0.01). There was a positive correlation between the fat infiltration CSA of LMM in the total L3-S1 segments and VAS scores in the two groups before PTED (r = 0.64, P<0.01). Six months after PTED, there was no correlation between the fat infiltration CSA of LMM in each segment and VAS scores in the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Acupotomy can improve the fat infiltration degree of LMM, pain symptoms and activities of daily living in patients with lumbar disc herniation after PTED.

RESUMEN

Global emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacteria triggers severe infections that result in an epidemic. It is urgent to discover novel classes of antibacterial agents. Here, a green route for synthesizing polyethylene glycol-based carbon dots (PEG-CDs) doped with liquid metal (LM-Cdots) via a solvent-free system is presented. LM-Cdots synthesized via ultrasound exhibit great antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, P. aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae, and A. baumannii) and their multidrug-resistant (MDR) clinical isolates. In the in vitro antibacterial test with MDR K. pneumoniae, LM-Cdots show an extremely low minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) of 0.63 µg mL-1 . Compared to naked PEG-CDs, the MIC is improved by 1000 times. In vivo results reveal that LM-Cdots can accelerate wound healing with low biotoxicity and inflammation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) via percutaneous plate placement on the distal medial tibia can be performed with minimizes soft tissue injury and produces good clinical results. However, the difficulty with MIPO lies in how to achieve satisfactory fracture reduction and maintain that reduction via indirect reduction techniques to facilitate internal fixation. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of AO distractor and manual traction reduction techniques combined with MIPO in the treatment of distal tibia fractures. METHODS: Between January 2013 and December 2019, 58 patients with a distal tibia fracture were treated using MIPO. Patients were divided into two groups according to the indirect reduction method that was used: 26 patients were reduced with manual traction(group M), and 32 were reduced with an AO distractor (group A).Time until union and clinical outcomes including AOFAS ankle-rating score and ankle range of ankle motion at final follow-up were compared. Mean operative time, incision length, blood loss and postoperative complications were recorded via chart review. Radiographic results at final follow-up were assessed for tibial angulation and shortening by a blinded reader. RESULTS: Mean operative time, incision length, and blood loss in group A were significantly lower than in group M(p = 0.019, 0.018 and 0.016, respectively).Radiographic evidence of bony union was seen in all cases, and mean time until union was equivalent between the two groups (p = 0.384).Skin irritation was noted in one case(3.1%) in group A and three cases(11.5%)in group M, but the symptoms were not severe and the plate was removed after bony union. There was no statistically significant difference in postoperative complications between the two groups(p = 0.461). Mean AOFAS score and range of ankle motion were equivalent between the two groups, as were varus deformity, valgus deformity, anterior angulation and posterior angulation. No patients had gross angular deformity. Mean tibial shortening was not significantly different between the two groups, and no patients had tibial shortening > 10 mm. CONCLUSION: Both an AO distractor and manual traction reduction techniques prior to MIPO in the treatment of distal tibial fractures permit a high fracture healing rate and satisfying functional outcomes with few wound healing complications. An AO distractor is an excellent indirect reduction method that may improve operative efficiency and reduce the risk of soft tissue injury.

RESUMEN

Safe and effective local drug delivery is challenging due to complex physiological barriers that limit the entry of drugs. Here, we report the metal-polymer conductors (MPCs) for local drug delivery via iontophoresis or electroporation. The MPCs are stretchable, conductive, and biocompatible. The flexible MPCs of different geometries are used both on a dry, flat surface (skin) and a moist, curved surface (cornea) with conformability. Conformal integration with the tissues enables good mechanical/electrical properties and realizes application of electrical voltage to the target areas for local drug delivery. By iontophoresis and electroporation, the MPCs achieve efficient delivery of doxorubicin and siRNA, leading to tumor regression and inhibition of corneal neovascularization, respectively. Our work presents an efficient strategy to harness the power of the MPCs to broaden the scope of local drug delivery to dry and wet organs with different surface topography.

RESUMEN

Comfort and mechanical stability are vital for epidermal electronics in daily use. In situ deposition of circuitry without the protection of substrates or encapsulation can produce imperceptible, conformal, and permeable epidermal electronics. However, they are easily destroyed by daily wear because the binding force between deposited materials and skin is usually weak. Here, we in situ deposited skin-adhesive liquid metal particles (ALMP) to fabricate epidermal electronics with robust wear resistance. It represents the most wear-resistant in situ deposited epidermal electronic materials. It can withstand ∼1600 cm, 175 g loaded paper tape wearing by a standard abrasion wear tester. Stretchability, conformality, permeability, and thinness of the ALMP coating provide an imperceptible and comfortable wearing experience. Without degradation of electrical property caused by solvent evaporation, the dry ALMP coating possesses natural advantages over gel electrodes. In situ deposited ALMP is an ideal material for fabricating comfortable epidermal electronics.

RESUMEN

Background: Tumor-infiltrating immune cells are instrumental in the spread, resurgence, metastasis, and immunotherapy responsiveness of endometrial cancer (EC), which is a prevalent, malignant gynecologic tumor with a dismal prognosis. Many questions remain about the safety and effectiveness of immunotherapy, so we investigated both the patients' immunological condition and the molecular subtypes of EC. Methods: Relevant data sets were collected from the The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and the CIBERSORT and ESTIMATE methods were used to assess the immune microenvironment and immune cell infiltration (ICI) in uterine corpus EC (UCEC) tumors. Using the immunophenoscore (IPS), the differentially expressed genes between low and high IPS were identified, and the immune gene subtypes of UCEC were further explored. Based on the main effect genes among the immune molecular subtypes, a tumor ICI scoring model was constructed. Results: There was individual heterogeneity in the characteristics of ICI in the tumor samples, and these characteristics were associated with overall survival (OS). The IPS was quantified by the pattern of gene differential expression, and five immune molecular subtypes were constructed. The levels of PD1/PD-L1 expression in these subtypes showed significant differences, and there were also differences in gene mutation profiles between low- and high-ICI scores. Conclusions: The ICI score of UCEC samples can be used to predict the benefit of immunotherapy.

RESUMEN

In recent years, an increasing number of new synthetic cannabinoids have appeared on the drug trade market. Many of the new synthetic cannabinoids have not previously been reported. At present, there are relatively few methods available for detecting synthetic cannabinoids and their metabolites in hair matrices. Therefore, we established a simple and fast method to simultaneously identify 29 synthetic cannabinoids and their metabolites in human hair by UPLC-MS/MS. Twenty milligrams of hair was used and processed by cryo-grinding and extraction with methanol. A Waters Acquity UPLC HSS T3 column (100 mm × 2.1 mm, 1.8 µm) was used for chromatographic separation. Mobile phase A was comprised of 20 mmol/L ammonium acetate, 0.1% formic acid, and 5% acetonitrile and water, and mobile phase B was acetonitrile. The method was fully validated and proved to have good selectivity, accuracy, precision, and satisfactory linearity within the calibrated range. The limit of detection (LOD) ranged from 0.5 to 5 pg/mg, and the lower limit of quantitation (LLOQ) ranged from 1 to 10 pg/mg. The extraction recovery was 36.1-93.3%, and the matrix effect was 19.1-110.0%. The validated method was successfully used to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze 29 synthetic cannabinoids and their metabolites in 59 actual hair samples. MDMB-4en-PINACA had the highest positive detection rate followed by ADB-BUTINACA, and there are multiple synthetic cannabinoid mixed ingestions. This methodology has great potential for the detection of 29 synthetic cannabinoids and their metabolites in forensic cases.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: Rapid changes in glucocorticoid (GC) levels and adrenal insufficiency are related to the development of post-cardiac arrest (CA) syndrome. However, GC receptor (GR) expression changes have not been studied. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the association of early changes in GR expression and prognosis and immune response in patients who experienced CA. DESIGN: Prospective observational study. SETTING: Emergency department. PARTICIPANTS: Patients (85) in the early period of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after CA were admitted between October 2018 and October 2019. After a physical examination, age-matched and sex-matched healthy individuals (40) were recruited for the control group. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES: GR expression and cell counts of circulatory T and B lymphocytes, natural killer cells and regulatory T (Treg) cells were assessed. Plasma total cortisol and adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) levels were also tested. RESULTS: All cell counts were lower, and plasma total cortisol levels were higher (p<0.001) in patients who experienced CA than in the healthy control group. GR expression in Treg cells and CD3+CD4+ T lymphocytes were not significantly different, but the mean fluorescence intensity and GR expression in other cells were lower in patients who experienced CA (p<0.05) than in the healthy control group. ACTH levels were not different. There were no significant differences between survivors and non-survivors. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that GR expression and cell counts rapidly decreased, whereas plasma total cortisol levels increased in the early period after ROSC among patients who experienced CA. Our findings provide important information about GR level and function, and immunosuppressive status in these patients. Assessing GR expression in patients who experienced CA may help screening for those who are more sensitive to GC therapy.

RESUMEN

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of ulinastatin (UTI) on renal perfusion using Doppler ultrasonography in a porcine model of septic shock induced by smoking inhalation and live methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus instillation. A total of 32 healthy Landrace pigs were randomly assigned into the following four groups: Sham group (SH; n=5), septic shock group (SS; n=9), septic shock treated with vancomycin (15 mg/kg) group (VAN; n=9) and septic shock treated with UTI (50,000 U/kg) + vancomycin (UTI; n=9) group. Renal perfusion was evaluated by contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) at baseline and at the end of the protocol (24 h). The spectrum of interlobar or arcuate artery was selected to calculate the corrected resistive index (cRI). Sulphur hexafluoride microbubbles were bolus injected via a venous catheter. The peak intensity (Pi) and area under curve (AUC) were calculated using a time-intensity curve. Compared with the baseline group, cRI was increased significantly at the end of the protocol, except for that in the SH group, whereas Pi decreased significantly after injury in all experimental groups but was higher in the UTI group compared with that in the SS and VAN groups (both P<0.001). Linear correlation was found between the cardiac output (CO) and Pi (R2=0.752; P<0.001). The AUC was significantly decreased after injury in the SS and VAN groups compared with the baseline group. All parameters detected by CEUS were improved in the UTI group, and significant differences were found between the UTI and SS or VAN group (all P<0.05). In conclusion, acute renal injury, which occasionally occurs during septic shock, is accompanied with a significantly lower perfusion rate in the renal microcirculation. By contrast, UTI can significantly improve renal perfusion, which can be reliably evaluated using CEUS.

RESUMEN

Existing temporary epicardial pacing wires (TPWs) are rigid and non-absorbable, such that they can cause severe complications after cardiac surgery. Here, a soft and absorbable temporary epicardial pacing wire (saTPW) for effectively correcting abnormal heart rates in a rabbit model, such as bradycardia and ventricular premature beat, is developed. The saTPW exhibits excellent conductivity, flexibility, cycling stability (>100 000 cycles), and less inflammatory response during two-month subcutaneous implantation in a rat model. The saTPW which consists of poly(l-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) and liquid metal, can degrade about 13% (mass loss) in the rats over a two-month subcutaneous implantation. It can be absorbed over time in the body. The cytocompatibility and absorbability avoid secondary injuries caused by remaining wires which are permanently left in the body. The saTPW will provide a great platform for diagnosis and treatments in cardiovascular diseases by delivering the physiological signal and applying electrical stimulation for therapy.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The abnormal increase in serum IgG4 level is an important clinical symptom of IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD), and the detection of serum IgG4 level is a powerful tool for the diagnosis of IgG4-RD. This study was conducted to establish a simple and rapid immunoassay for the determination of human serum IgG4 levels. METHODS: Based on the competition method, a novel immunoassay was established for the determination of human serum IgG4 using a combination of time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA) and magnetic microspheres. IgG4 was coupled with magnetic microspheres and competed with IgG4 in the samples to bind the Eu3+ -labeled anti-IgG4 antibody. The immunocomplex was separated and washed in a magnetic field, and the fluorescence counts were measured according to the number of dissociated europium ions. RESULTS: The analytical sensitivity of IgG4-TRFIA based on magnetic microspheres was 0.006 g/L, and the detection range was 0.006-20 g/L under optimal conditions. The precision, recovery, and specificity of this immunoassay were demonstrated to be acceptable. The clinical application of IgG4-TRFIA based on magnetic microspheres was evaluated and compared with that of immunonephelometry. The results showed that the two detection methods had a good correlation, with a correlation coefficient of .9871. CONCLUSION: IgG4-TRFIA based on magnetic microspheres has the advantages of high sensitivity, wide detection range, and short analysis time and has the potential to become a useful tool for the diagnosis of IgG4-RD.

RESUMEN

The adoption of neural interfacing into neurological diagnosis is severely hampered by the complex, costly, and error-prone manufacturing methods, requiring new fabrication processes and materials for flexible neural interfacing. Here a strategy for fabricating highly stretchable neural electrode arrays based on screen printing of liquid metal conductors onto polydimethylsiloxane substrates is presented. The screen-printed electrode arrays show a resolution of 50 µm, which is ideally applicable to neural interfaces. The integration of liquid metal-polymer conductor enables the neural electrode arrays to retain stable electrical properties and compliant mechanical performance under a significant (≈108%) strain. Taking advantage of its high biocompatibility, liquid metal electrode arrays exhibit excellent performance for neurite growth and long-term implantation. The stretchable electrode arrays can spontaneously conformally come in touch with the brain surface, and high-throughput electrocorticogram signals are recorded. Based on stretchable electrode arrays, real-time monitoring of epileptiform activities can be provided at different states of seizure. The method reported here offers a new fabrication strategy to manufacture stretchable neural electrodes, with additional potential utility in diagnostic brain-machine interfaces.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer (BrCa) is the most common female malignancy worldwide and has the highest morbidity among all cancers in females. Unfortunately, the mechanisms of BrCa growth and metastasis, which lead to a poor prognosis in BrCa patients, have not been well characterized. METHODS: Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed on a BrCa tissue microarray (TMA) containing 80 samples to evaluate ubiquitin protein ligase E3C (UBE3C) expression. In addition, a series of cellular experiments were conducted to reveal the role of UBE3C in BrCa. RESULTS: In this research, we identified UBE3C as an oncogenic factor in BrCa growth and metastasis for the first time. UBE3C expression was upregulated in BrCa tissues compared with adjacent breast tissues. BrCa patients with high nuclear UBE3C expression in tumors showed remarkably worse overall survival (OS) than those with low nuclear expression. Knockdown of UBE3C expression in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-453 BrCa cells inhibited cell proliferation, migration and invasion in vitro, while overexpression of UBE3C in these cells exerted the opposite effects. Moreover, UBE3C promoted ß-catenin nuclear accumulation, leading to the activation of the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in BrCa cells. CONCLUSION: Collectively, these results imply that UBE3C plays crucial roles in BrCa development and progression and that UBE3C may be a novel target for the prevention and treatment of BrCa.
