AIM: To explore the relationships of multiple reproductive factors with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk and the joint effects of reproductive factors and genetic susceptibility. METHODS: We included 262,368 women without prevalent T2DM from the UK biobank. Cox proportional hazards regression models were employed to estimate the relationships of reproductive factors with T2DM risk and the joint effects of reproductive factors and genetic susceptibility. RESULTS: During a mean follow-up of 12.2 years, 8,996 T2DM cases were identified. Early menarche (<12 years, hazard ratio (HR) 1.08 [95 % confidence interval (CI) 1.02;1.13]), late menarche (≥15 years, HR 1.11 [1.04;1.17]), early menopause (<45 years, HR 1.20 [1.12;1.29]), short reproductive lifespan (<30 years, HR 1.25 [1.16;1.35]), hysterectomy (1.31, HR [1.23;1.40]), oophorectomy (HR 1.28 [1.20;1.36]), high parity (≥4, HR 1.25 [1.17;1.34]), early age at first live birth (<20 years, HR 1.23 [1.16;1.31]), miscarriage (HR 1.13 [1.07;1.19]), stillbirth (HR 1.14 [1.03;1.27]), and ever used hormonal replacement therapy (HR 1.19 [1.14;1.24]) were related to a higher T2DM risk, while ever used oral contraceptives (HR 0.93 [0.89;0.98]) was related to a lower T2DM risk. Furthermore, women with reproductive risk factors and high genetic risk had the highest T2DM risk compared to those with low genetic risk and without reproductive risk factors. CONCLUSION: Our findings show that multiple reproductive factors are related to T2DM risk, particularly in women with high genetic risk.

The incidence of lung cancer brain metastasis combined with hemorrhagic cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is very rare, and the understanding and treatment experience of this case is insufficient. We reported a case of lung cancer brain metastasis accompanied by venous sinus thrombosis, and describe the diagnosis and treatment plan for colleagues to learn from experience and lessons.

BACKGROUND: Apoptosis can fuel oncogenesis by the education of surrounding stromal cells. However, the function of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), which interacted with apoptotic cancer cells, in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) progression is still unknown. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to explore the prognostic value of apoptosis and the biological effects of CAFs, interacted with apoptotic cancer cells, on OSCC. METHODS: A total of 166 samples from OSCC patients were stained via TUNEL reaction to evaluate the correlation between apoptosis and clinical characteristics. Cell viability and proliferation were assessed through flow cytometry and CCK-8 assays, respectively. Levels of mRNA and protein were examined through qRT-PCR, western blot and immunofluorescence. RESULTS: Higher percentage of apoptotic cancer cells in OSCC positively correlated with more Ki67+ cells and predicted poor clinical outcomes. Conditioned medium from CAFs exposed to apoptotic cancer cells significantly facilitated cell proliferation. Co-culture CAFs with apoptotic cancer cells dampened the phosphorylation of STING/IRF3 signaling, as well as the production of type I interferon, which was required for the inhibition of OSCC cell proliferation. CONCLUSION: These results demonstrate the interplay between apoptotic cancer cells and CAFs promotes OSCC proliferation via STING signaling, identifying a potential therapy targeted CAFs surrounded with apoptotic cancer cells for OSCC.

Herbal medicine has been widely valued because of its remarkable efficacy and minimal side effects. The quantitative analysis of herbal medicines is essential to ensure their safety and efficacy. The simultaneous detection of multiple quality markers (Q-markers) has emerged as an important approach and trend in herbal medicine quality control. In recent years, non-targeted screening has become an effective strategy for the discovery and identification of unknown compounds. This study developed a non-targeted screening and quantitative analysis strategy to discover, identify and quantify the multiple components that truly represent the efficacy of Wuling capsule. Within this strategy, 18 types of flavonoids were tentatively discovered and identified from Wuling capsule by analyzing mass cleavage pathways, the precise molecular weights of compounds, and comparing the data with a database. Ten types of flavonoids were determined after the comparison of the standards. Additionally, following the evaluation of the regression equation, linear range, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantitation (LOQ), precision, repeatability, and recovery of the proposed quantitative method, six flavonoids were quantified. This method successfully screened, identified, and quantified the potential active components in Wuling capsule, providing insights for improving the quality control standards in other herbal medicines.

Stem cells demonstrate differentiation and regulatory functions. In this discussion, we will explore the impacts of cell culture density on stem cell proliferation, adipogenesis, and regulatory abilities. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the initial culture density of human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) on the adipogenic differentiation of autologous cells. Our findings indicate that the proliferation rate of hPDLSCs increased with increasing initial cell density (0.5-8 × 104 cells/cm2). After adipogenic differentiation induced by different initial cell densities of hPDLSC, we found that the mean adipose concentration and the expression levels of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α (CEBPα), and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPAR-γ) genes all increased with increasing cell density. To investigate the regulatory role of hPDLSCs in the adipogenic differentiation of other cells, we used secreted exocrine vesicles derived from hPDLSCs cultivated at different initial cell densities of 50 µg/mL to induce the adipogenic differentiation of human bone marrow stromal cells. We also found that the mean adipose concentration and expression of LPL, CEBPα, and PPARγ genes increased with increasing cell density, with an optimal culture density of 8 × 104 cells/cm2. This study provides a foundation for the application of adipogenic differentiation in stem cells.

BACKGROUND: ANXA5, a notable tumor marker, displays irregular expression in diverse solid cancers, and links to local recurrence and metastasis rates. We aimed study the expression of ANXA5 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and its diagnostic and prognostic values. METHODS: 520 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients in TCGA database and 124 OSCC patients in Nanjing stomatology hospital were enrolled in our study. Immunohistochemical analyses were performed using ANXA5 antibodies. Chi-square test was used to analyze the clinicopathological features. Survival rates were determined using the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test. RESULTS: Our results showed significantly elevated ANXA5 at the gene and protein levels in HNSCC and OSCC compared to non-tumor tissues. Histopathologically, ANXA5 was broadly present in OSCC tumor cells and fibroblast-like cells but absent in tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, particularly at the invasive tumor front. Patients exhibiting high ANXA5 expression in these cells demonstrated poor differentiation, aggressive invasion patterns, and heightened lymph node metastasis risk, contributing to poorer postoperative outcomes. Remarkably, ANXA5 in fibroblast-like cells emerged as an independent risk factor impacting survival in OSCC patients. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) highlighted ANXA5's involvement in key pathways like epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT), TGF-beta signaling, and hypoxia, which correlated with adverse clinical outcomes in OSCC. CONCLUSION: ANXA5 emerges as a significant prognostic biomarker for OSCC, potentially influencing its metastasis via the EMT pathway.

BACKGROUND: Failure of orthodontic bracket bonds is a common occurrence during orthodontic treatment. This study investigated the impact of Er: YAG laser-based removal of adhesive from the bases of metal and ceramic brackets for re-bonding. METHODS: A total of 168 extracted premolars were collected from patients. 84 metal brackets were used to be bonded on the buccal surface of the premolars in Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, while 84 ceramic brackets were applied in Groups I, II, III and IV. Group 1/I represented the initial bonding group, with Group 2/II being the re-bonding group with new brackets, while Groups 3/III and 4/ IV received recycled brackets treated by Er: YAG laser or flaming respectively. Both the first and second de-bonding were performed in all samples using a universal testing machine to determine the shear bond strength (SBS). The adhesive remnant index (ARI) was evaluated using a stereo-microscope. The new and the treated bracket bases were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Differences in initial bonding and re-bonding ability were analyzed through one-way ANOVAs, and differences in ARI were assessed with the Kruskal-Wallis test. RESULTS: Greater amounts of adhesive residue were observed on ceramic brackets treated by laser. The SBS values for recycled metal brackets in Group 3 (26.13 MPa) were comparable to Group 1 (23.62 MPa) whereas they differed significantly from Group 4 (12.54 MPa). No significant differences in these values were observed when comparing the 4 groups with ceramic brackets. ARI score in Group 4 (2-3 points) differed significantly from the three other groups (P < 0.05). For Group I, II, III and IV, similar ARI scores were observed (P > 0.05). SEM analysis didn't show apparent damage of bracket bases consisting of either metal or ceramic material treated by Er: YAG laser. CONCLUSIONS: Er: YAG laser treatment was superior to flame treatment as a means of removing adhesive without damaging the brackets. SBS values and ARI scores following Er: YAG laser treatment were similar to those for new brackets, offering further support for Er: YAG laser treatment as a viable means of recycling debonded brackets.

The sensitivity of tropospheric ozone (O3) to its precursors volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) determines the emission reduction strategy for O3 mitigation. Due to the lack of comprehensive vertical measurements of VOCs, the vertical distribution of O3 sensitivity regimes has not been well understood. O3 precursor sensitivity determined by ground-level measurements has been generally used to guide O3 control strategy. Here, to precisely diagnose O3 sensitivity regimes at different heights in the planetary boundary layer (PBL), we developed a vertical measurement system based on an unmanned aerial vehicle platform to conduct comprehensive vertical measurements of VOCs, NOX and other relevant parameters. Our results suggest that the O3 precursor sensitivity shifts from a VOC-limited regime at the ground to a NOX-limited regime at upper layers, indicating that the ground-level O3 sensitivity cannot represent the situation of the whole PBL. We also found that the state-of-the-art photochemical model tends to underestimate oxygenated VOCs at upper layers, resulting in overestimation of the degree of VOCs-limited regime. Therefore, thorough vertical measurements of VOCs to accurately diagnose O3 precursor sensitivity is in urgent need for the development of effective O3 control strategies.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have linked single metal to hemoglobin levels in children and adolescents; however, studies with regards to metal mixtures are still limited. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the associations of single metal and metal mixtures with hemoglobin levels in children and adolescents. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 2064 children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years in Liuzhou, China in 2018. The concentrations of 15 metals in urine were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Generalized linear regression and weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression were used to estimate the associations of single metal and metal mixtures with hemoglobin levels, respectively. RESULTS: The multivariable-adjusted ß-values for the highest versus the first quartiles of urinary metal concentrations were - 1.57 (95 % confidence interval [CI]: -3.01, -0.13) for chromium, -2.47 (95 % CI: -3.90, -1.05) for nickel and 1.88 (95 % CI: 0.49, 3.28) for copper. In addition, we found a significant negative association between the WQS index and hemoglobin levels (adjusted ß = -0.93, 95 % CI: -1.69, -0.19), with nickel contributing the most to the WQS index at 59.0 %. Subgroup analyses showed that exposure to urinary nickel or metal mixtures were associated with decreased hemoglobin levels in adolescents, but not in children (all Pinteration < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Among children and adolescents, urinary chromium and nickel concentrations were associated with decreased hemoglobin levels, while copper showed a positive relationship. Moreover, a negative association was observed between exposure to metal mixtures and hemoglobin levels. These findings need to be further validated in prospective studies.

AIM: The aim of the present work was to find an efficient method for safe and reliable expansion of human dental pulp cells (hDPCs) in vitro. Here, we examined the effect of a novel recombinant E8 fragment of Laminin-511 (iMatrix-511) in hDPCs regarding viability and cell spreading. Further, we investigated the underlying mechanisms governing its effects in hDPCs using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). METHODOLOGY: hDPCs were obtained from caries-free maxilla third molars (n = 3). CCK-8 assay was conducted to measure the viability of cells cultured on iMatrix-511 and two other ECM proteins. Cell morphology was observed by phase contrast microscope. RNA-seq of hDPCs cultured on iMatrix-511 or noncoated control was performed on Illumina NovaseqTM 6000 platform. RESULTS: iMatrix-511 (0.5 µg/cm2) enhanced the viability of hDPCs to an extent better than COL-1 and gelatin. Short term culture of hDPCs on iMatrix-511 resulted in 233 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The top 12 most upregulated genes were XIAP, AL354740, MRFAP1, AC012321, KCND3, TMEM120B, AC009812, GET1-SH3BGR, CNTN3, AC090409, GEN1 and PIK3IP1, whereas the top 12 most downregulated genes were SFN, KRT17, RAB4B-EGLN2, CSTA, KCTD11, ATP6V1G2-DDX39B, AC010323, SBSN, LYPD3, FOSB, AC022400 and CHI3L1. qPCR validation confirmed the significant upregulation of GEN1, KCND3, PIK3IP1 and MRFAP1. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed, with genes enriched in various extracellular matrix interaction, estrogen and fat metabolism-related functions and pathways. CONCLUSIONS: iMatrix-511 facilitated spreading and proliferation of hDPCs. It enhances expression of anti-apoptotic genes, while inhibits expression of epidermis development-related genes.

Pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are crucial for the structural and functional integrity of flexible displays. Investigating the intricate mechanical properties of PSAs can help enhance product quality and performance. This study conducts systematic mechanical tests, including uniaxial tensile, compression, planar shear, and stress relaxation, on PSAs at temperatures ranging from - 25 to 85 â„ƒ and relative humidity levels from 0 to 90%. Our findings reveal that the Anssari-Benam model accurately describes the hyperelastic behavior of PSA materials under large deformation, outperforming the Ogden model by requiring fewer parameters and better preserving convexity. Moreover the results show that temperature markedly affects PSA properties, particularly near the glass transition temperature (Tg), with lower temperatures leading to decreased elasticity and higher temperatures aiding in stress relaxation. Similarly, humidity impacts PSA behavior, increasing elasticity and decreasing stiffness, especially noticeable in stress relaxation tests. These findings highlight the substantial influence of environmental conditions on the material properties of PSAs and underscore the necessity of understanding both hyperelastic and viscoelastic responses for their application in flexible technologies. This research provides critical insights for the optimal utilization of PSAs in the rapidly evolving field of flexible electronics, including OLED displays.

Accurate identification and rapid analysis of PM2.5 sources and formation mechanisms are essential to mitigate PM2.5 pollution. However, studies were limited in developing a method to apportion sources to the total PM2.5 mass in real-time. In this study, we developed a real-time source apportionment method based on chemical mass balance (CMB) modeling and a mass-closure PM2.5 composition online monitoring system in Shenzhen, China. Results showed that secondary sulfate, secondary organic aerosol (SOA), vehicle emissions and secondary nitrate were the four major PM2.5 sources during autumn 2019 in Shenzhen, together contributed 76 % of PM2.5 mass. The novel method was verified by comparing with other source apportionment methods, including offline filter analysis, aerosol mass spectrometry, and carbon isotopic analysis. The comparison of these methods showed that the new real-time method obtained results generally consistent with the others, and the differences were interpretable and implicative. SOA and vehicle emissions were the major PM2.5 and OA contributors by all methods. Further investigation on the OA sources indicated that vehicle emissions were not only the main source of primary organic aerosol (POA), but also the main contributor to SOA by rapid aging of the exhaust in the atmosphere. Our results demonstrated the great potential of the new real-time source apportionment method for aerosol pollution control and deep understandings on emission sources.

Surface ozone pollution, as a pressing environmental concern, has garnered widespread attention across China. Due to air mass transport, effective control of ozone pollution is highly dependent on collaborative efforts across neighboring regions. However, specific regions with strong internal interactions of ozone pollution are not yet well identified. Here, we introduced the Geospatial SHapley Additive exPlanation (GeoSHAP) approach, which primarily involves machine learning and geostatistical algorithms. Based on extensive atmospheric environmental monitoring data from 2017 to 2021, machine learning models were employed to train and predict ozone concentrations at the target location. The R2 values on the test sets of different scale regions all reached 0.98 in the overall condition, indicating that the core model has good accuracy and generalization ability. The results highlight key regions with high ozone geospatial relationship (OGR) index, predominantly located in the Northern District (ND), spanning the Fen-Wei Plain, the Loess Plateau, and the North China Plain, as well as within portions of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) and the Pearl River Delta (PRD). Further investigation indicated that high geospatial relationships stem from a synergy between anthropogenic and natural factors, with anthropogenic factors serving as a pivotal element. This study revealed key regions with the most urgent need for joint control of anthropogenic sources to mitigate ozone pollution.

BACKGROUND: As an important medical personnel training system in China, standardized residency training plays an important role in enriching residents' clinical experience, improving their ability to communicate with patients and their clinical expertise. The difficulty of teaching neurology lies in the fact that there are many types of diseases, complicated conditions, and strong specialisation, which puts higher requirements on residents' independent learning ability, the cultivation of critical thinking, and the learning effect. Based on the concept of ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation), this study combines the theory and clinical practice of flipped classroom teaching method to evaluate the teaching effect, so as to provide a basis and reference for the implementation of flipped classroom in the future of neurology residency training teaching. METHODS: The participants of the study were 90 neurology residents in standardised training in our hospital in the classes of 2019 and 2020. A total of 90 residents were divided into a control group and an observation group of 45 cases each using the random number table method. The control group used traditional teaching methods, including problem based learning (PBL), case-based learning (CBL), and lecture-based learning (LBL). The observation group adopted the flipped classroom teaching method based on the ADDIE teaching concept. A unified assessment of the learning outcomes of the residents was conducted before they left the department in the fourth week, including the assessment of theoretical and skill knowledge, the assessment of independent learning ability, the assessment of critical thinking ability, and the assessment of clinical practice ability. Finally, the overall quality of teaching was assessed. RESULTS: The theoretical and clinical skills assessment scores achieved by the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the results were statistically significant (P < 0.001). The scores of independent learning ability and critical thinking ability of the observation group were better than those of the control group, showing statistically significant differences (P < 0.001). The observation group was better than the control group in all indicators in terms of Mini-Cex score (P < 0.05). In addition, the observation group had better teaching quality compared to the control group (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Based on the concept of ADDIE combined with flipped classroom teaching method can effectively improve the teaching effect of standardized training of neurology residents, and had a positive effect on the improvement of residents' autonomous learning ability, critical thinking ability, theoretical knowledge and clinical comprehensive ability.

Metal halide perovskite materials inherently possess imperfections, particularly under nonequilibrium conditions, such as exposure to light or heat. To tackle this challenge, we introduced stearate ligand-capped nickel oxide (NiOx), a redox-sensitive metal oxide with variable valence, into perovskite intermediate films. The integration of NiOx improved the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by offering multifunctional roles: (1) chemical passivation for ongoing defect repair, (2) energetic passivation to bolster defect tolerance, and (3) field-effect passivation to mitigate charge accumulation. Employing a synergistic approach that tailored these three passivation mechanisms led to a substantial increase in the devices' efficiencies. The target cell (0.12 cm2) and module (18 cm2) exhibited efficiencies of 24.0 and 22.9%, respectively. Notably, the encapsulated modules maintained almost 100 and 87% of the initial efficiencies after operating for 1100 h at the maximum power point (60 °C, 50% RH) and 2000 h of damp-heat testing (85 °C, 85% RH), respectively. Outdoor real-time tests further validated the commercial viability of the NiOx-assisted PSMs. The proposed passivation strategy provides a practical and uncomplicated approach for fabricating high-efficiency and stable photovoltaics.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) in the treatment of diabetic patients with refractory wound. Background: Refractory wound is one of the most challenging clinical complications of diabetes mellitus. Studies have shown that PBMT can promote wound healing in many ways. Methods: We reported a 55-year-old male patient with refractory diabetic wound after secretory carcinoma of the parotid gland surgery responding to 810 nm laser. Results: After PBMT, the refractory diabetic wound healed gradually without adverse events. During follow-up 5-years, the healed wound remained stable and showed no signs of recurrence. Conclusions: PBMT can be potentially considered as a therapeutic method in diabetic patients with refractory diabetic wound.

Plasticity among cell lineages is a fundamental, but poorly understood, property of regenerative tissues. In the gut tube, the small intestine absorbs nutrients, whereas the colon absorbs electrolytes. In a striking display of inherent plasticity, adult colonic mucosa lacking the chromatin factor SATB2 is converted to small intestine. Using proteomics and CRISPR-Cas9 screening, we identify MTA2 as a crucial component of the molecular machinery that, together with SATB2, restrains colonic plasticity. MTA2 loss in the adult mouse colon activated lipid absorptive genes and functional lipid uptake. Mechanistically, MTA2 co-occupies DNA with HNF4A, an activating pan-intestinal transcription factor (TF), on colonic chromatin. MTA2 loss leads to HNF4A release from colonic chromatin, and accumulation on small intestinal chromatin. SATB2 similarly restrains colonic plasticity through an HNF4A-dependent mechanism. Our study provides a generalizable model of lineage plasticity in which broadly-expressed TFs are retained on tissue-specific enhancers to maintain cell identity and prevent activation of alternative lineages, and their release unleashes plasticity.

Manganese (Mn) is an essential micronutrient required for various biological processes but excess exposure to Mn can cause neurotoxicity. However, there are few reports regarding the toxicity effect of Mn on the kidney as well as the underlying molecule mechanism. Herein, in vivo experiments were adopted to assess the toxicity effects associated with Mn, and found that chronic Mn treatment induced the injury of glomerular podocytes but not renal tubule in rats. Genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 knockout screen was then employed to explore the biotargets of the toxic effect of Mn on podocytes. Through functional analyses of the enriched candidate genes, NLRP10 was found to be significantly up-regulated and mediated Mn-induced podocyte apoptosis. Further mechanism investigation revealed that NLRP10 expression was regulated by demethylase AlkB homolog 5 (ALKBH5) in an m6A-dependent fashion upon Mn treatment. Moreover, Mn could directly bind to Metadherin (MTDH) and promoted its combination with ALKBH5 to promote NLRP10 expression and cell apoptosis. Finally, logistic regressions, restricted cubic spline regressions and uniform cubic B-spline were used to investigate the association between Mn exposure and the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD). A U-shaped nonlinear relationship between CKD risk and plasma Mn level, and a positive linear relationship between CKD risk and urinary Mn levels was found in our case-control study. To sum up, our findings illustrated that m6A-dependent NLRP10 regulation is indispensable for podocyte apoptosis and nephrotoxicity induced by Mn, providing fresh insight into understanding the health risk of Mn and a novel target for preventing renal injury in Mn-intoxicated patients.

Triterpenoids widely exist in nature, displaying a variety of pharmacological activities. Determining triterpenoids in different matrices, especially in biological samples holds great significance. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has become the predominant method for triterpenoids analysis due to its exceptional analytical performance. However, due to the structural similarities among botanical samples, achieving effective separation of each triterpenoid proves challenging, necessitating significant improvements in analytical methods. Additionally, triterpenoids are characterized by a lack of ultraviolet (UV) absorption groups and chromophores, along with low ionization efficiency in mass spectrometry. Consequently, routine HPLC analysis suffers from poor sensitivity. Chemical derivatization emerges as an indispensable technique in HPLC analysis to enhance its performance. Considering the structural characteristics of triterpenoids, various derivatization reagents such as acid chlorides, rhodamines, isocyanates, sulfonic esters, and amines have been employed for the derivatization analysis of triterpenoids. This review comprehensively summarized the research progress made in derivatization strategies for HPLC detection of triterpenoids. Moreover, the limitations and challenges encountered in previous studies are discussed, and future research directions are proposed to develop more effective derivatization methods.

Lysosomes-associated membrane proteins (LAMPs), a family of glycosylated proteins and major constituents of the lysosomal membranes, play a dominant role in various cellular processes, including phagocytosis, autophagy and immunity in mammals. However, their roles in aquatic species remain poorly known. In the present study, three lamp genes were cloned and characterized from Micropterus salmoides. Subsequently, their transcriptional levels in response to different nutritional status were investigated. The full-length coding sequences of lamp1, lamp2 and lamp3 were 1251bp, 1224bp and 771bp, encoding 416, 407 and 256 amino acids, respectively. Multiple sequence alignment showed that LAMP1-3 were highly conserved among the different fish species, respectively. 3-D structure prediction, genomic survey, and phylogenetic analysis were further confirmed that these genes are widely existed in vertebrates. The mRNA expression of the three genes was ubiquitously expressed in all selected tissues, including liver, brain, gill, heart, muscle, spleen, kidney, stomach, adipose and intestine, lamp1 shows highly transcript levels in brain and muscle, lamp2 displays highly expression level in heart, muscle and spleen, but lamp3 shows highly transcript level in spleen, liver and kidney. To analyze the function of the three genes under starvation stress in largemouth bass, three experimental treatment groups (fasted group and refeeding group, control group) were established in the current study. The results indicated that the expression of lamp1 was significant induced after starvation, and then returned to normal levels after refeeding in the liver. The expression of lamp2 and lamp3 exhibited the same trend in the liver. In addition, in the spleen and the kidney, the transcript level of lamp1 and lamp2 was remarkably increased in the fasted treatment group and slightly decreased in the refed treatment group, respectively. Collectively, our findings suggest that three lamp genes may have differential function in the immune and energetic organism in largemouth bass, which is helpful in understanding roles of lamps in aquatic species.
