RESUMEN

Preeclampsia (PE) is associated with increased angiotensin II sensitivity and poor neurological outcomes marked by temporal loss of neural control of blood pressure. Yet the role of centrally expressed angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) within the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus (PVN) in the PE model is not understood. In a PE rat model with reduced placental perfusion pressure (RUPP) induced on gestational day 14 (GD14), the PVN expression and cellular localization of AT1R were assessed using immunofluorescence and western blotting. The sensitivity of RUPP to acute angiotensin II infusion was assessed. AT1R was antagonized by losartan (100 µg/kg/day) for 5 days intracerebroventricularly (ICV). Hemodynamic data and samples were collected on GD19 for further analysis. RUPP upregulated (p < 0.05) mRNA and protein of AT1R within the PVN and lowered (p < 0.05) circulating angiotensin II in rats. RUPP increased neural and microglial activation. Cellular localization assessment revealed that AT1R was primarily expressed in neurons and slightly in microglia and astrocytes. Infusion of 100 ng/kg as bolus increased the mean arterial pressure (MAP in mmHg) in both RUPP and Sham. ICV losartan infusion attenuated RUPP-increased MAP (113.6 ± 6.22 in RUPP vs. 92.16 ± 5.30 in RUPP + Los, p = 0.021) and the expression of nuclear transcription factor NF-κB, tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the PVN. Our data suggest that centrally expressed AT1R, within the PVN, contributes to placental ischemia-induced hypertension in RUPP rats highlighting its therapeutic potential in PE.

RESUMEN

We have developed a mid-infrared Doppler-free saturation absorption spectroscopy apparatus that employs a commercial continuous-wave optical parametric oscillator (CW OPO), complemented by a home-built automation and wavelength scanning system. Here, we report a comprehensive spectral scan of the Q branch transitions of the ν3 = 1 band of methane (CH4) with an average linewidth (FWHM) of 4.5 MHz. The absolute frequency calibration was achieved using previously reported transition frequencies determined using optical frequency combs, while a Fabry-Perot etalon was used for the relative frequency calibration. We report 15 transitions with improved accuracies of 1.13 MHz (3.76 × 10-5 cm-1).

RESUMEN

Activation of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) triggers oxidative stress and an inflammatory response in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN), in turn increasing the sympathetic hyperactivity that is a major cause of hypertension. Pyridostigmine has cardioprotective effects by suppressing the RAS of myocardial tissue. However, whether pyridostigmine attenuates hypertension by inhibiting the RAS of the PVN remains unclear. We thus investigated the effect and mechanism of pyridostigmine on two-kidney one-clip (2K1C)-induced hypertension. 2K1C rats received pyridostigmine, or not, for 8 weeks. Cardiovascular function, hemodynamic parameters, and autonomic activity were measured. The PVN levels of pro-/anti-inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress, and RAS signaling molecules were evaluated. Our results showed that hypertension was accompanied by cardiovascular dysfunction and an autonomic imbalance characterized by enhanced sympathetic but diminished vagal activity. The PVN levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), reactive oxygen species (ROS), NOX-2, and malondialdehyde (MDA) increased; those of IL-10 and superoxide dismutase (SOD) decreased. Moreover, the RAS signaling pathway was activated, as evidenced by increased levels of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), angiotensin II (Ang II), and the Ang II type 1 receptor (AT1R) and a decreased AT2R level. Pyridostigmine lowered blood pressure and improved cardiovascular function, associated with restoration of the autonomic balance. Meanwhile, pyridostigmine decreased PVN IL-6, TNF-α, ROS, NOX-2, and MDA levels and increased IL-10 and SOD levels. Additionally, pyridostigmine suppressed PVN ACE, Ang II, and AT1R levels and increased AT2R expression. Pyridostigmine attenuated hypertension by inhibiting PVN oxidative stress and inflammation induced by the RAS.

RESUMEN

Film capacitors have become key electronic components for electrical energy storage installations and high-power electronic systems. Nonetheless, high-temperature and high-electric-field environments would cause a surge of the energy loss, placing a fundamental challenge for film capacitors applied in harsh environments. Here, we constructed a composite film, combining poly(ether sulfone) (PESU) with excellent thermal stability and large-band-gap filler boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs). The introduction of BNNSs would form deep/shallow traps inside the dielectric polymer matrix, effectively affecting charge migration. Via density functional theory (DFT) calculation, the higher highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels of the BNNS than the matrix facilitate scattering electrons and attracting holes. The resultant composite obtains the desired discharged energy densities (Ud) of 5.89 and 3.86 J/cm3 accompanied by an efficiency above 90% at 150 and 200 °C, respectively, surpassing those of existing dielectric materials at the high-temperature conditions. The paper provides a promising composite dielectric material for high-performance film capacitors capable of operating in harsh environments.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: With the development of online technology and the increase in real-world needs, conducting psychotherapy on online platforms has become a popular trend. The present study followed the schedule and content of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and only changed the treatment format (from offline to online) to investigate the effectiveness of online group MBCT for Chinese outpatients with depression. METHODS: The study used before-and-after controlled design, and included 88 depressed outpatients, of which 75 formally underwent a 10-week online group MBCT. The 24-item Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD-24), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Self-Depression Rating Scale (SDS), Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), and Self-Acceptance Questionnaire (SAQ) were administered to patients one week prior to treatment, the fifth week of treatment, and the tenth week of treatment. Repeated-measures data were processed using linear mixed-effects models. RESULTS: 75 patients (85.23 %) attended >4 sessions, 44 of whom were taking psychotropic medication during treatment. HAMD-24 and HAMA scores decreased significantly in both medicated and unmedicated patients (w10 < w1, p < 0.05). HAMD-24 and HAMA scores declined more rapidly in patients taking medication, with significant decreases in the fifth week (w5 < w1, p < 0.05). The remarkable effectiveness of treatment (HAMD-24 score reduction >50 %) was >30 %, but there were no significant changes in patients' SDS, MAAS, or SAQ scores. CONCLUSIONS: This study supports the effectiveness of online group MBCT for outpatients with depression and the adherence of depressed patients to participate in online group MBCT was high.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The skin condition of women is different at different ages, and skin surface lipids are also different. According to the "7-7 theory" of the Huangdi Neijing, the physiological condition of women changes significantly every 7 years, and women aged 22-28 are in the "4-7" stage as mentioned in the "7-7 theory" of the Huangdi Neijing. Women's skin is in different states at different ages and produces different lipids. OBJECTIVES: To explore the key lipids that contribute to skin differences between women aged 22-28 and 29-35 years, and to explore the relationship with physiological parameters and daily routine. METHODS: Differential lipids were detected and screened between 22-28 year old (group D1) and 29-35 year old (group D2) dry-skinned women using UPLC-Q-TOF-MS and correlated between the two groups with questionnaires and physiological parameters based on basic information, lifestyle habits, work situation, and emotional stress. RESULTS: The results showed that all of the eight major classes of lipids had the highest expression in the D2 group, with the largest differences in glycerophospholipids, glycerol esters, and fatty acids. The BMI value of D2 group was higher than that of D1 group, the skin elasticity index (R2) and brightness index (L, a, ITA values) were lower than that of D1 group, and Cer (d18:0/16:0) was positively correlated with the R2, L, a, and ITA, and LMSP01080056 (N,N-dimethyl-Safingol) was positively correlated with the b-value, the LMSPGP03020013, LMSPGP03020014, LMSP03020024 were significantly negatively correlated with R2. CONCLUSIONS: Cer(d18:0/16:0) is a neurosphingol that inhibits elastase expression. N,N-dimethyl-Safingol readily undergoes oxidation to form yellow-brown solids. The macromolecular structure and excessive carbonyl structure of [LMGP0302] are susceptible to cross-linking and carbonyl stress reactions, which accelerate skin aging and reduce skin elasticity, and thus, they may be key lipids contributing to skin differences between the two age groups.

RESUMEN

Cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) regulates cholesterol efflux, chronic inflammation, and reendothelialization in various atherosclerotic diseases. This study aimed to investigate the correlation of serum CDC42 with myocardial injury indicators and major adverse cardiac event (MACE) in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients who were treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In 250 STEMI patients about to receive PCI, serum samples were collected at enrollment before PCI treatment, and the serum samples were also obtained from 100 healthy controls (HCs) at enrollment. Serum CDC42 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Serum CDC42 was decreased (versus HCs, P < 0.001) and negatively correlated with diabetes mellitus (P = 0.017), multivessel disease (P = 0.016), cardiac troponin I (P < 0.001), creatine kinase MB (P = 0.012), stent diameter ≥ 3.5 mm (P = 0.039), white blood cell (P < 0.001), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (P = 0.049), and C-reactive protein (P < 0.001) in STEMI patients. Besides, 29 (11.6%) STEMI patients experienced MACE. The 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year accumulating MACE rates were 7.5%, 17.3%, and 19.3%, accordingly. Serum CDC42 was reduced in STEMI patients who experienced MACE compared to those who did not (P = 0.001). Serum CDC42 ≥ 250 pg/mL, ≥ 400 pg/mL, ≥ 700 pg/mL (cut by near integer value of 1/4th quartile, median, and 3/4th quartile) were associated with decreased accumulating MACE rates in STEMI patients (all P < 0.050). Notably, serum CDC42 ≥ 250 pg/mL (hazard ratio = 0.435, P = 0.031) was independently related to reduced accumulating MACE risk in STEMI patients. A serum CDC42 level of ≥ 250 pg/mL well predicts decreased MACE risk in STEMI patients who are treated with PCI.

RESUMEN

Bivalirudin, as a direct thrombin inhibitor, is considered to be safer compared with other anticoagulants, such as heparin; however, relevant data in China are unclear. The present study aimed to compare the safety of bivalirudin and heparin as anticoagulants in Chinese patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In the present study, 2,377 patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), unstable angina, non-STEMI or stable coronary artery disease who underwent primary PCI while receiving bivalirudin or heparin (low molecular weight heparin or unfractionated heparin) were reviewed, and then analyzed as the bivalirudin group (n=944) and heparin group (n=1,433). The net adverse clinical events (NACEs) within 30 days were obtained, which were defined as major adverse cardiac and cerebral events (MACCEs) + Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) grade 2-5 bleeding events. Compared with the heparin group, the incidence of NACEs was reduced in the bivalirudin group (9.3 vs. 13.4%; P=0.003). However, no discrepancy was found in the incidence of MACCEs between the groups (5.9 vs. 7.6%; P=0.116). Moreover, the incidences of BARC 2-5 (4.8 vs. 8.7%; P<0.001) and BARC 3-5 bleeding events (1.9 vs. 4.4%; P=0.001) were decreased in the bivalirudin group compared with the heparin group. Following adjustment using multivariate logistic regression analysis, bivalirudin treatment (vs. heparin treatment) was independently associated with lower risks of NACEs [odds ratio (OR), 0.587; P<0.001], MACCEs (OR, 0.689; P=0.041) and BARC 2-5 (OR, 0.459; P<0.001) and 3-5 bleeding events (OR, 0.386; P=0.002). Overall, the present study demonstrated that bivalirudin decreased the risks of NACEs and bleeding events compared with heparin in Chinese patients who undergo PCI. However, further validation is required.

RESUMEN

Electrostatic capacitors based on dielectric materials are essential for enabling technological advances, including miniaturization and integration of electronic devices. However, maintaining a high polarization and breakdown field strength simultaneously in electrostatic capacitors remains a major challenge for industrial applications. Herein, a universal approach to delaying saturation polarization in BaTiO3-based ceramic is reported via tailoring phase fraction to improve capacitive performance. The ceramic of 0.85(0.7BaTiO3-0.3Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3)-0.15Bi0.5Li0.5(Ti0.75Ta0.2)O3 delivers an ultrahigh recoverable energy density (Wrec) of 7.16 J cm-3 along with an efficiency (η) of approximately 90% at a breakdown electric field of 700 kV cm-1, outperforming the current BaTiO3-based ceramics and other lead-free ceramics. Meanwhile, the Wrec and η exhibit wide frequency, temperature, and cycling fatigue stability. Additionally, both an extremely fast discharge time of 115 ns and a large power density of 106.16 MW cm-3 are concurrently attained. This work offers a promising pathway for delaying saturation polarization design in order to create scalable high-energy-density ceramics capacitors and highlight the research prospects of pulse power applications.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation protein 1 (MALT1) promotes CD4+ T cell differentiation, vascular inflammation, and atherogenesis to engage in coronary heart disease (CHD) progression. This study intended to explore the correlation of blood MALT1 with clinical characteristics, CD4+ T cell subset and prognosis in CHD patients. METHODS: MALT1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of 258 CHD patients and 50 healthy controls (HCs) was determined by RT-qPCR. Additionally, blood T helper (Th)1, Th2, Th17, and regulatory T (Treg) cells were measured through flow cytometry; major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) were recorded during the routine follow up in CHD patients. RESULTS: Blood MALT1 was elevated in CHD patients compared to HCs. Interestingly, blood MALT1 positively associated with hyperlipidemia, triglyceride, C-reactive protein, and Gensini score in CHD patients. It also negatively linked with Th2 cells, Treg cells, and positively related to Th17 cells but not Th1 cells in CHD patients. More importantly, MACE-free survival was shortened in CHD patients with high blood MALT1 compared to those with low blood MALT1 (cut off by the median) while less significance was observed when cut off by quartiles. Separately, blood MALT1 was elevated in CHD patients occurred MACE within 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, and 4-year duration compared to those who did not. CONCLUSION: Blood MALT1 links with unbalanced CD4+ T-cell subset, elevated inflammation, and coronary-artery stenosis serving as a candidate biomarker for predicting MACE risk in CHD patients.

RESUMEN

Driven by the information industry, advanced electronic devices require dielectric materials which combine both excellent energy storage properties and high temperature stability. These requirements hold the most promise for ceramic capacitors. Among these, the modulated Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 (BNT)-based ceramics can demonstrate favorable energy storage properties with antiferroelectric-like properties, simultaneously, attaching superior temperature stability resulted from the high Curie temperature. Inspired by the above properties, a strategy is proposed to modulate antiferroelectric-like properties via introducing Ca0.7 La0.2 TiO3 (CLT) into Bi0.395 Na0.325 Sr0.245 TiO3 (BNST) ((1-x)BNST-xCLT, x = 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25). Combining both orthorhombic phase and defect dipole designs successfully achieve antiferroelectric-like properties in BNST-CLT ceramics. The results illustrate that 0.8BNST-0.2CLT presents superior recoverable energy storage density ≈8.3 J cm-3 with the ideal η ≈ 80% at 660 kV cm-1 . Structural characterizations demonstrate that there is the intermediate modulated phase with the coexistence of the antiferroelectric and ferroelectric phases. In addition, in situ temperature measurements prove that BNST-CLT ceramics exhibit favorable temperature stability over a wide temperature range. The present work illustrates that BNT-based ceramics with antiferroelectric-like properties can effectively enhance the energy storage performance, which provides novel perspectives for the subsequent development of advanced pulsed capacitors.

RESUMEN

Absorption spectroscopy has long been known as a technique for making molecular concentration measurements and has received enhanced visibility in recent years with the advent of new techniques, like cavity ring-down spectroscopy, that have increased its sensitivity. To apply the method, it is necessary to have a known molecular absorption cross section for the species of interest, which typically is obtained by measurements of a standard sample of known concentration. However, this method fails if the species is highly reactive, and indirect means for attaining the cross section must be employed. The HO2 and alkyl peroxy radicals are examples of reactive species for which absorption cross sections have been reported. This work explores and describes for these peroxy radicals the details of an alternative approach for obtaining these cross sections using quantum chemistry methods for the calculation of the transition dipole moment upon whose square the cross section depends. Likewise, details are given for obtaining the transition moment from the experimentally measured cross sections of individual rovibronic lines in the near-IR Ã-X̃ electronic spectrum of HO2 and the peaks of the rotational contours in the corresponding electronic transitions for the alkyl (methyl, ethyl, and acetyl) peroxy radicals. In the case of the alkyl peroxy radicals, good agreement for the transition moments, ≈20%, is found between the two methods. However, rather surprisingly, the agreement is significantly poorer, ≈40%, for the HO2 radical. Possible reasons for this disagreement are discussed.

RESUMEN

Introduction: Preeclampsia (PE) is gestation-specific hypertension coupled by systemic multiple organ damages, remaining the leading causes of maternal and infant death worldwide.Materials and methods: Though numerous pathogenetic mechanisms have been engaged in this disorder and several methods have been undertaken to treat PE, few clinical strategies are effective in PE management, suggesting more studies from novel perspective being in great need to decipher the underlying mechanisms of PE.Results: Growing evidence shows that women with periodontitis, an oral microflora-induced chronic inflammation of the periodontal tissues, are more inclined to suffer PE, which may be tightly associated with microflora-derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). Latest studies reveal that OMVs are spherical membrane-enclosed entities released by bacteria and can gain free access to the circulation of the host and therefore reach the remote tissue of the host, participating the interaction among oral bacterial with the host and contribute to some systemic disease with carried bioactive materials. Conclusions: OMVs may be the underlying mechanism linking oral flora-induced periodontitis with dysfunction trophoblast and finally contributes to the pathogenesis of in PE. Here we provide evidence to support the potential roles of OMVs linking periodontal disease between PE.

RESUMEN

Bitumen emits a large amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the production and construction of asphalt mixture, which can cause both environmental hazards and health risks. In this study, a setup was designed to collect the VOCs released by base and crumb rubber-modified bitumen (CRMB) binders and their composition was characterized by thermal desorption-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (TD-GC-MS). Next, organic montmorillonite (Mt) nanoclay was added into CRMB binder and its inhibiting effect on the VOCs emission of the binder was investigated. Finally, the VOCs emission models for the CRMB and Mt-modified CRMB (Mt-CRMB) binders were established according to reasonable assumptions. The results indicated that the VOCs emission of CRMB binder was 3.2 times larger than that of the base binder. Due to its intercalated structure, the nanoclay can reduce the VOCs emission of CRMB binder by 30.6%. Especially, its inhibition effects on alkanes, olefins, and aromatic hydrocarbons were more significant. After finite element verification, the established model based on the Fick's second law can describe the emission behavior of CRMB and Mt-CRMB binders well. Overall, the Mt nanoclay can be used as an effective modifier to inhibit the VOCs emission of CRMB binder.

RESUMEN

Hypertension remains a threat for society due to its unknown causes, preventing proper management, for the growing number of patients, for its state as a high-risk factor for stroke, cardiac and renal complication and as cause of disability. Data from clinical and animal researches have suggested the important role of many soluble factors in the pathophysiology of hypertension through their neuro-stimulating effects. Central targets of these factors are of molecular, cellular and structural nature. Preeclampsia (PE) is characterized by high level of soluble factors with strong pro-hypertensive activity and includes immune factors such as proinflammatory cytokines (PICs). The potential neural effect of those factors in PE is still poorly understood. Shedding light into the potential central effect of the soluble factors in PE may advance our current comprehension of the pathophysiology of hypertension in PE, which will contribute to better management of the disease. In this paper, we summarized existing data in respect of hypothesis of this review, that is, the existence of the neural component in the pathophysiology of the hypertension in PE. Future studies would address this hypothesis to broaden our understanding of the pathophysiology of hypertension in PE.

RESUMEN

Electrostatic capacitors are emerging as a highly promising technology for large-scale energy storage applications. However, it remains a significant challenge to improve their energy densities. Here, an effective strategy of introducing non-isovalent ions into the BiFeO3 -based (BFO) ceramic to improve energy storage capability via delaying polarization saturation is demonstrated. Accordingly, an ultra-high energy density of up to 7.4 J cm-3 and high efficiency ≈ 81% at 680 kV m-1 are realized, which is one of the best energy storage performances recorded for BFO-based ceramics. The outstanding comprehensive energy storage performance is attributed to inhibiting the polarization hysteresis resulting from generation ergodic relaxor zone and random field, and generating highly-delayed polarization saturation with continuously-increased polarization magnitudes with the electric field of supercritical evolution. The contributions demonstrate that delaying the polarization saturation is a consideration for designing the next generation of lead-free dielectric materials with ultra-high energy storage performance.

RESUMEN

As a powerful feature extraction tool, a convolutional neural network (CNN) has strong adaptability for big data applications such as bearing fault diagnosis, whereas the classification performance is limited when the quality of raw signals is poor. In this paper, stochastic resonance (SR), which provides an advanced feature enhancement approach for weak signals with strong background noise, is introduced as a data pre-processing method for the CNN to improve its classification performance. First, a multiparameter adjusting bistable Duffing system that can achieve SR under large-parameter weak signals is introduced. A hybrid optimization algorithm (HOA) combining the genetic algorithm (GA) and the simulated annealing (SA) is proposed to adaptively obtain the optimized parameters and output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the Duffing system. Therefore, the data optimization based on the multiparameter-adjusting SR of Duffing system can be realized. An SR-based mapping method is further proposed to convert the outputs of the Duffing system into grey images, which can be further processed by a normal CNN with batch normalization (BN) layers and dropout layers. After verifying the feasibility of the HOA in multiparameter optimization of the Duffing system, the bearing fault data set from the CWRU bearing data center was processed by the proposed fault enhancement classification and identification method. The research showed that the weak features of the bearing signals could be enhanced significantly through the adaptive multiparameter optimization of SR, and classification accuracies for 10 categories of bearing signals could achieve 100% and those for 20 categories could achieve more than 96.9%, which is better than other methods. The influences of the population number on the classification accuracies and calculation time were further studied, and the feature map and network visualization are presented. It was demonstrated that the proposed method can realize high-performance fault enhancement classification and identification.

RESUMEN

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Despite progress in pandemic prevention and control, it has always been a difficult task for China to pursue a 'zero COVID-19' strategy. Given the aerosol transmission of COVID-19 and the strict nosocomial infection control in dental hospitals, the execution of clinical trials in oral, dental and craniofacial research have encountered heightened difficulties. During this wave of the pandemic, the Institute of Clinical Trials in our hospital has continuously organised experts to discuss how to improve the management of clinical trials and we have made improvements in their management with the following principles: subject protection being our priority, humanised service being our pursuit and the quality of clinical trials being the cornerstone. Here, we share our experiences and current practices in clinical trial management with our peers worldwide, aiming to promote the management of clinical trials and contribute to the development of stomatology under the constraints of COVID-19 waves.
