RESUMEN

The performance of dynamic body-feed filtration (DBF) in the removal of bulky solids produced during the manufacturing of snake antivenoms using the caprylic acid method was evaluated. For this purpose, diatomites with different filterability properties were compared in a bench-scale study to assess their effectiveness in removing the precipitated material formed after the addition of caprylic acid to equine hyperimmune plasma. C1000 diatomite at a concentration of 90 g/L of precipitated plasma showed the best performance. Then, the process was scaled up to three batches of 50 L of hyperimmune horse plasma. At this pilot scale, 108 ± 4% of the immunoglobulins present following plasma precipitation were recovered after DBF. The antivenoms generated using this procedure met quality specifications. When compared to open filtration systems commonly used at an industrial scale by many antivenom manufacturers, DBF has a similar yield and produces filtrates with comparable physicochemical characteristics. However, DBF ensures the microbiological quality of the primary clarification in a way that open systems cannot. This is because: 1) DBF is performed in a single-use closed device of depth filters which prevents microbial contamination, and 2) DBF removes bulky material in few minutes instead of the more than 24 h needed by open filtration systems, thus reducing the risk of contamination. It was concluded that DBF is a cost-effective, easily validated, and GMP-compliant alternative for primary clarification following caprylic acid precipitation of plasma in snake antivenom production.

Chemical conjugation of oligonucleotides is widely used to improve their delivery and therapeutic potential. A variety of strategies are implemented to efficiently modify oligonucleotides with conjugating partners. The linkers typically used for oligonucleotide conjugation have limitations in terms of stability or ease of synthesis, which generates the need for providing new improved linkers for oligonucleotide conjugation. Herein, we report the synthesis of novel vinylpyrimidine phosphoramidite building blocks, which can be incorporated into an oligonucleotide by standard solid-phase synthesis in an automated synthesizer. These linker-bearing oligonucleotides can be easily conjugated in a biocompatible manner with thiol-functionalized molecules leading to the efficient generation of oligonucleotide conjugates.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that has a significant impact on quality of life. The immune response and allergy symptoms in AD are triggered by the recognition of specific allergens by IgE antibodies. Cross-reactivity can lead to auto-IgE responses, potentially worsening AD symptoms. Our research aimed to enhance our understanding of allergenic sources, including A. fumigatus, and their role in AD. We focused on molecular mimicry between human AQP3 and A. fumigatus aquaporin. Methods: In our in-silico analysis, we compared the amino acid sequences of human aquaporin 3 (AQP3) and A. fumigatus aquaporin with 25 aquaporins from various allergenic sources, sourced from the UniProt and NCBI databases. Phylogenetic relationship analysis and homology-based modeling were conducted. We identified conserved antigenic regions located within the 3D structures. Results: The global identity levels among the studied aquaporins averaged 32.6%. One antigenic site exhibited a remarkable local region, with a conserved identity of 71.4%. We categorized the aquaporins into five monophyletic clades (A-E), with group B showing the highest identity (95%), including six mammalian aquaporins, including AQP3. When comparing A. fumigatus aquaporins, the highest identity was observed with Malassezia sympodialis at 35%. Both human and A. fumigatus aquaporins have three linear and three discontinuous epitopes. Conclusions: We identified potential linear and conformational epitopes of AQP3, indicating a possible molecular mimicry between humans and A. fumigatus aquaporins. This suggests autoreactivity and potential cross-reactivity, although further validation using in vitro and in vivo experiments is required.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of different modeling agents on color changes, surface roughness, and translucency parameters over time in Bulkfill resin composites. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Sixty specimens were prepared using three Bulkfill resin composites (Tetric N-Ceram Bulkfill, Filtek One Bulkfill and Opus Bulkfill) and three modeling agents (Wetting Resin, Optibond FL and Ambar APS). All specimens were subjected to a simulated tooth-brushing (Baseline, 50.000 cycles, 100.000 cycles), and surface roughness was measured at each interval. Surface topography was evaluated. The translucency parameter and color changes were assessed after 24-h, 7-, 14- and 30-day immersion in water, wine, and coffee. Data was analyzed using ANOVA and Bonferroni test. RESULTS: All specimens increased roughness after simulated tooth-brushing (p < 0.05). Wetting Resin decreased roughness on Tetric N-Ceram Bulkfill (p < 0.05). The translucency parameter remained unaltered for all groups. All groups changed color after 30-days of immersion in wine and coffee (p < 0.05). Ambar APS and Wetting Resin on Tetric N-Ceram Bulkfill showed higher color changes when immersed in coffee (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The use of modeling agents does not jeopardize translucency properties but may affect surface roughness and color properties of Bulkfill resin composites depending on their composition. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The findings of this study suggest that surface roughness and color properties are affected by the differences in the composition between modeling agents and Bulkfill resins composites.

Snakebite in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is a public health problem whose magnitude is not fully known. Several antivenoms are available in these regions, but these formulations are designed for restricted geographical settings. Many countries do not have local production of antivenoms and must access products whose clinical performance has not been demonstrated. We hypothesize that it is possible to unify the treatment for viperid snakebites of MENA in a single antivenom formulation. Hereby we describe the design, development and preclinical evaluation of an antivenom of broad geographical coverage for this region (MENAVip-ICP). We produced this antivenom from the plasma of horses immunized with eight medically important venoms of viperid snake species from MENA. For this, we used a strategy based on two stages: first, immunization of horses with North African (NA) venoms, followed by a second immunization stage, on the same horses, with MENA venoms. We purified antivenoms from both stages: the Anti-NA and the final product Anti-MENA (MENAVip-ICP). Anti-NA was considered as intermediate formulation and was purified with the intention to study the progression of the immunoglobulin immune response of the horses. Antivenoms from both stages neutralized lethal, hemorrhagic, and procoagulant activities of homologous venoms. Compared to Anti-NA, MENAVip-ICP improved the neutralization profile of intravenous lethality and in vitro procoagulant activities of venoms. A notable finding was the difference in the neutralization of lethality when MENAVip-ICP was assessed intraperitoneally versus intravenously in the murine model. Intraperitoneally, MENAVip-ICP appears more effective in neutralizing the lethality of all venoms. Furthermore, MENAVip-ICP neutralized the lethal activity of venoms of species from other regions of MENA, Central/East Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa that were not included in the immunization protocol. Our results showed that MENAVip-ICP neutralizes the main toxic activities induced by viperid MENA venoms at the preclinical level. Consequently, it is a promising product that could be clinically assessed for the treatment of snakebite envenomings in this region.

INTRODUCTION: Multiple antigen environmental sources have been identified as possible causes of allergies, but few studies have evaluated changes in the sensitization profiles over time. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in IgE sensitization and exposure to dust mites, cats, dogs, and cockroaches over a 10-year period. METHODS: During a period of 10 years among patients with asthma, rhinitis and/or atopic dermatitis, we evaluated the annual frequency of atopy to Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Blomia tropicalis, Canis familiaris, Felis domesticus and cockroaches (Periplaneta americana and Blatella germanica). Exposure to sources was also assessed using questionnaires (Pets) or direct counts (House dust mites and cockroaches). The association between some risk factors and the prevalence of atopy was explored. RESULTS: A total of 6,000 records were included. Among the patients, 82% had IgE sensitization to at least one of the six allergenic sources. Sensitization to Dermatophagoides spp. was the most frequent (>78%). Exposure and sensitization in the first decade of life to Dermatophagoides spp. seem to determine the molecular spreading to other allergenic sources. Exposure to Blomia tropical increases significantly over time (year 2015; 38% vs. year 2022; 51%, p 0.03). Exposure to dogs was higher than with cats but association between atopy and exposure was stronger with cats (OR 27.4, 95% CI: 22.3-33.6, p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Exposure and sensitization in the first decade of life to Dermatophagoides spp. determine the molecular spreading of IgE antibodies to other allergenic sources. Household exposure to dogs and cats seems to be important for the subsequent development of atopy. Sensitization to B. tropicalis and cockroach appears to be mostly from cross-reactivity rather than direct exposure.

Considering a circular economy perspective, this study evaluates the possible effect of targeted short-term supplementation with Withania somnifera L. (WS; Ashwagandha) on ram's seminal quality, socio-sexual behaviors, and blood constituents. Black Belly rams (n = 20) received a basal diet comprising feed-leftovers from dairy cows in the north-arid Mexico (i.e., Comarca Lagunera CL). The experimental units, with proven libido and fertility, were homogeneous in terms of age (3.41 ± 0.21 yr.), live weight (LW; 53.8 ± 3.3 kg), body condition (BC; 2.96 ± 0.01 units), initial sperm concentration (2387 ± 804 × 106), and viability (23.9 ± 15.6%). Rams were randomly assigned during the transition reproductive period (i.e., May to Jun; 25° NL) to three treatment groups: non-supplemented control group (CONT; n = 6), low WS-supplemented (LWS; i.e., 100 mg kg LW-1 d-1 × 40 d; n = 7), and high-WS-supplemented (HWS; i.e., 200 mg kg LW-1 d-1 × 40 d; n = 7). The basal leftover diet was offered twice daily (0700 and 1600 h); the experimental period (EP) lasted 47 d. No differences (p > 0.05) among treatments occurred regarding LW and BCS at the onset of the EP. Whereas the greater scrotal circumference (SCRC, cm) arose in the LWS and CONT rams, an increased ejaculated volume (VOLEJA, mL) occurred in the WS-rams. A total of 5/9 (i.e., 55%) appetitive and 3/3 (i.e., 100%) consummatory sexual behaviors favored (p < 0.05) the WS-rams, particularly the HWS rams, towards the final EP. The same was true (p < 0.05) regarding the hemogram variables white blood cell count (×109 cells L-1), hemoglobin concentration (g dL-1), and medium corpuscular volume (fL). This study, based on a rethink-reuse-reduce enquiry approach, enabled connectedness between two noteworthy animal systems in the CL: dairy cows and meat sheep schemes. Certainly, the use of dairy cow feed-leftovers aligned with the short-term supplementation with WS promoted enhanced testicular function, augmented seminal volume, and an increased sexual behavior in Black Belly rams in northern Mexico. Finally, while our research outcomes should enhance not only the resilience and sustainability of sheep production and the well-being of sheep-producers and their families, it may also embrace clinical translational applications.

Isavuconazole is used to treat fungal infections. This study aims to describe isavuconazole pharmacokinetics in critically ill patients and evaluate their relationship with clinical efficacy and patient safety. We conducted a prospective, observational study in patients treated with intravenous isavuconazole. Samples were collected at predose (Cmin), 1 h (Cmax) and 12 h (C50) after the last dose. The plasma concentration was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. The relationship between plasma concentration and clinical and microbiological outcomes and safety was evaluated. The influence of covariates (age, sex, weight, SAPS3, creatinine, liver enzymes and extracorporeal devices: continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)) was analysed. Population pharmacokinetic modelling was performed using NONMEN®. A total of 71 isavuconazole samples from 24 patients were analysed. The mean Cmin was 1.76 (1.02) mg/L; 87.5% reached the optimal therapeutic target and 12.5% were below 1 mg/L. Population pharmacokinetics were best described by a one-compartment model with first-order elimination. No factor had a significant impact on the plasma concentration or pharmacokinetic parameters. Thus, isavuconazole could be safely used in a critically ill population, even in those treated with CRRT and ECMO, from a pharmacokinetic standpoint. Therefore, routine therapeutic drug monitoring may not be strictly necessary in daily clinical practice.

BACKGROUND: Body composition assessment using computed tomography (CT) scans may be hampered by software costs. To facilitate its implementation in resource-limited settings, two open-source segmentation programs (Horos and CoreSlicer) were transversally validated in colorectal cancer patients. METHODS: Contrast-enhanced abdominal CT scans were analyzed following the Alberta protocol. The Cross-Sectional Area (CSA) and intensities of skeletal muscle tissue (MT), subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT), visceral adipose tissue (VAT), and intramuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) were measured. The Skeletal Muscle Index (SMI) was calculated. Cutoff points were applied to the SMI, MT intensity, and VAT CSA to define muscle atrophy, myosteatosis, and abdominal obesity. The inter-software agreement was evaluated using different statistical tools. RESULTS: A total of 68 participants were measured. The MT CSA and SMI displayed no differences. The MT CSA agreement was excellent, and both programs provided equal muscle atrophy prevalences. CoreSlicer underestimated the MT intensity, with a non-significant myosteatosis prevalence increase (+5.88% and +8.82%) using two different operative definitions. CoreSlicer overestimated the CSA and intensity in both VAT and SAT, with a non-significant increase (+2.94%) in the abdominal obesity prevalence. CONCLUSIONS: Both software programs were feasible tools in the study group. The MT CSA showed great inter-software agreement and no muscle atrophy misdiagnosis. Segmentation differences in the MT intensity and VAT CSA caused limited diagnostic misclassification in the study sample.

Renal involvement is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The present study included patients with recently diagnosed Class III and Class IV lupus nephritis (LN) treated by Rheumatology who, upon the detection of alterations in their kidney function, were referred to Nephrology for the joint management of both medical specialties. The purpose of this study was to compare the plasma expression of Toll-Like Receptor 7 (TLR7) and TLR9 in healthy control (HC) subjects and newly diagnosed Class III and Class IV LN patients with 12-month follow-ups. The plasma expression of TLR7 and TLR9 proteins was determined by the ELISA method. A significant increase in the expression of TLR7 protein was found in Class III LN in the basal determination compared to the expression in the HC (p = 0.002) and at 12 months of follow-up (p = 0.03) vs. HC. The expression of TLR9 showed a behavior opposite to that of TLR7. TLR9 showed decreased protein expression in LN Class III patients' baseline and final measurements. The result was similar in the basal and final determinations of LN Class IV compared to the expression in HC. A significant decrease in SLEDAI -2K was observed at 12 months of follow-up in patients in Class III (p = 0.01) and Class IV (p = 0.0001) of LN. Complement C3 levels improved significantly at 12-month follow-up in Class IV patients (p = 0.0001). Complement C4 levels decreased significantly at 12-month follow-up in LN Class III compared to baseline (p = 0.01). Anti-DNA antibodies decreased significantly at 12 months of follow-up in Class IV LN (p = 0.01). A significant increase in proteinuria was found at 12 months of follow-up in Class III LN, compared to the baseline determination (p = 0.02). In LN Class IV, proteinuria decreased at 12 months of follow-up compared to baseline (p = 0.0001). Albuminuria decreased at 12 months of follow-up in LN Class IV (p = 0.006). Class IV LN, albuminuria also decreased at 12 months of follow-up (p = 0.009). Hematuria persisted in all patients and the glomerular filtration rate did not change. Three Class IV patients died before 12 months of follow-up from various causes. In conclusion, although the rheumatologic data appeared to improve, the renal function data remained inconsistent. Decreased expression of TLR9 and increased expression of TLR7 could be useful in the early diagnosis of Class III and Class IV LN is correct.

TDP-43 loss of function induces multiple splicing changes, including a cryptic exon in the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and fronto-temporal lobar degeneration risk gene UNC13A, leading to nonsense-mediated decay of UNC13A transcripts and loss of protein. UNC13A is an active zone protein with an integral role in coordinating pre-synaptic function. Here, we show TDP-43 depletion induces a severe reduction in synaptic transmission, leading to an asynchronous pattern of network activity. We demonstrate that these deficits are largely driven by a single cryptic exon in UNC13A. Antisense oligonucleotides targeting the UNC13A cryptic exon robustly rescue UNC13A protein levels and restore normal synaptic function, providing a potential new therapeutic approach for ALS and other TDP-43-related disorders.

BACKGROUND: Reduced muscle strength (dynapenia) and mass (atrophy) are prognostic factors in oncology. Measuring maximal handgrip strength with dynamometers is feasible but limited by the cost of the reference device (JAMAR). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted on colorectal cancer outpatients treated with chemotherapy or under active surveillance in our center from September 2022 to July 2023. Accuracy, reliability, and concordance were compared for two handheld dynamometers: the JAMAR Plus (the gold-standard device) and the Camry EH101 (a low-cost index device). A simultaneous nutritional diagnosis with GLIM criteria and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) was carried out. RESULTS: A total of 134 participants were included. The median of maximal strength for the JAMAR Plus had a non-significant difference of 1.4 kg from the Camry EH101. The accuracy and reliability of the devices were high. Bland-Altman analysis showed a 0.8 kg bias and -4.1 to 5.6 kg limits of agreement (LoA); a 0.1 kg bias and -5.3 to 5.4 kg LoA in men; a 1.5 kg bias and -2.2 to 5.3 kg LoA in women. In total, 29.85% of the participants were malnourished. Prevalence of dynapenia increased from 3.67% with the JAMAR Plus to 5.14% with the Camry EH101. Both devices had a moderate and significant correlation with BIA-estimated muscle mass. CONCLUSIONS: The Camry EH101 was a cost-effective alternative to JAMAR Plus in our sample.

RESUMEN

Caregiving for disabled individuals among Neanderthals has been known for a long time, and there is a debate about the implications of this behavior. Some authors believe that caregiving took place between individuals able to reciprocate the favor, while others argue that caregiving was produced by a feeling of compassion related to other highly adaptive prosocial behaviors. The study of children with severe pathologies is particularly interesting, as children have a very limited possibility to reciprocate the assistance. We present the case of a Neanderthal child who suffered from a congenital pathology of the inner ear, probably debilitating, and associated with Down syndrome. This child would have required care for at least 6 years, likely necessitating other group members to assist the mother in childcare.

Objective: To determine gender gaps in Emeritus researchers in Colombia. Methods: Oaxaca-Blinder-Kitakagwa decomposition model, correcting the sample selection bias with the inclusion of Mills' inverse ratio (Heckman's Lambda) through an ordered probit model. Data: Information available in the ScienTI Platform - Colombia during the period 2015-2021. Results: The results show that the gender gap between female and male researchers is 5.8%. To achieve Emeritus status, one must be over 65 years old, and the possibility of achieving Emeritus status is 5.1% higher for female researchers than for their male counterparts. These differences can be explained by the time constraints that female researchers face in being productive, as they spend more time than male researchers on caregiving responsibilities, either due to motherhood or the care of other dependent family members. Conclusions: The results obtained allow us to affirm that there is a gender gap in scientific research in Colombia in the Emeritus research category in the calls for proposals for the period 2015-2021. Moreover, the existing gap cannot be explained by factors associated with attributes of education and academic productivity that are part of the regulatory requirements, insofar as not being explained by them, it evidences the existence of discrimination against women researchers to access the highest research category.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the influence of dentin moisture on the clinical behavior of a universal adhesive on posterior teeth after 36 months of follow-up. METHODS: Forty-five patients participated in this study. Following a split-mouth design, three operators placed 90 Class I/Class II restorations over moist dentin (MD) or dry (DD) (n = 45) with resin composite (Filtek Bulk Fill) and a universal adhesive used in the etch-and-rinse mode (Single Bond Universal). Each restoration was evaluated according to the FDI and USPHS criteria (postoperative sensitivity, fracture and retention, marginal staining, marginal adaptation, and recurrence of caries) at baseline and after 6-, 12-, and 36 months. For statistical analysis, Kruskal Wallis analysis of variance rank (α = 0.05) and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis were used. RESULTS: No significant difference between groups was observed in each FDI criterion after 36 months of clinical evaluation (p > 0.05). The retention rates (confidence interval 95 %) were 97.37 % (86.5 - 99.5) for both MD and DD without significant difference between them (p > 0.05). Eight restorations (MD = 4; DD = 4) showed minimal marginal staining defects (p > 0.05). Two restorations were lost (MD = 1; DD = 1). Fifteen restorations (MD = 8; DD = 7) presented minor marginal discrepancies according to the FDI criteria (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The clinical performance of the universal adhesive when applied in etch-and-rinse mode was not influenced by dentin moisture in posterior bulk-fill composite restorations. BACKGROUND: Snakebite envenomation inflicts a high burden of mortality and morbidity in sub-Saharan Africa. Antivenoms are the mainstay in the therapy of envenomation, and there is an urgent need to develop antivenoms of broad neutralizing efficacy for this region. The venoms used as immunogens to manufacture snake antivenoms are normally selected considering their medical importance and availability. Additionally, their ability to induce antibody responses with high neutralizing capability should be considered, an issue that involves the immunization scheme and the animal species being immunized. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: Using the lethality neutralization assay in mice, we compared the intrageneric neutralization scope of antisera generated by immunization of horses with monospecific, bispecific/monogeneric, and polyspecific/monogeneric immunogens formulated with venoms of Bitis spp., Echis spp., Dendroaspis spp., spitting Naja spp. or non-spitting Naja spp. It was found that the antisera raised by all the immunogens were able to neutralize the homologous venoms and, with a single exception, the heterologous congeneric venoms (considering spitting and non-spitting Naja separately). In general, the polyspecific antisera of Bitis spp, Echis spp, and Dendroaspis spp gave the best neutralization profile against venoms of these genera. For spitting Naja venoms, there were no significant differences in the neutralizing ability between monospecific, bispecific and polyspecific antisera. A similar result was obtained in the case of non-spitting Naja venoms, except that polyspecific antiserum was more effective against the venoms of N. melanoleuca and N. nivea as compared to the monospecific antiserum. CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: The use of polyspecific immunogens is the best alternative to produce monogeneric antivenoms with wide neutralizing coverage against venoms of sub-Saharan African snakes of the Bitis, Echis, Naja (non-spitting) and Dendroaspis genera. On the other hand, a monospecific immunogen composed of venom of Naja nigricollis is suitable to produce a monogeneric antivenom with wide neutralizing coverage against venoms of spitting Naja spp. These findings can be used in the design of antivenoms of wide neutralizing scope for sub-Saharan Africa.

OBJECTIVE: Identify molecular mimicry between TPO, eosinophil peroxidase (EPX), thyroglobulin and IL24 and microorganism antigens. METHODS: Through in silico analysis, we performed local alignments between human and microorganism antigens with PSI-BLAST. Proteins that did not present a 3D structure were modeled by homology through the Swiss Modeller server and epitope prediction was performed through Ellipro. Epitopes were located in the 3D models using PYMOL software. RESULTS: A total of 38 microorganism antigens (parasites, bacteria) had identities between 30% and 45%, being the highest with Anisakis simplex. The alignment between 2 candidate proteins from A. simplex and EPX presented significant values, with identities of 43 and 44%. In bacteria, Campylobacter jejuni presented the highest identity with thyroglobulin (35%). 220 linear and conformational epitopes of microorganism antigens were predicted. Peroxidasin-like proteins from Toxocara canis and Trichinella pseudospiralis presented 10 epitopes similar to TPO and EPX, as possible molecules triggering cross-reactivity. No virus presented identity with the human proteins studied. CONCLUSION: TPO and EPX antigens shared potential cross-reactive epitopes with bacterial and nematode proteins, suggesting that molecular mimicry could be a mechanism that explains the relationship between infections and urticaria/hypothyroidism. In vitro work is needed to demonstrate the results obtained in the in silico analysis.

MÉTODOS: A través de análisis in silico, realizamos los alineamientos locales entre los antígenos humanos y de microorganismos con PSI-BLAST. Las proteínas que no presentaban estructura 3D, fueron modeladas por homología a través del servidor Swiss Modeller y se realizó una predicción de epítopes a través de Ellipro. Los epítopes se localizaron en los modelos 3D utilizando el software PYMOL. RESULTADOS: Un total de 38 antígenos de microorganismos (parásitos y bacterias), tuvieron identidades entre 30 y 45%, siendo los más altos con Anisakis simplex. El alineamiento entre dos proteínas candidatas de A. simplex y EPX presentaron valores importantes, con identidades de 43 y 44%. En las bacterias, Campylobacter jejuni presentó la mayor identidad con tiroglobulina (35%). Se predijeron 220 epítopes lineales y conformacionales de antígenos de microorganismos. Las proteínas similares a la peroxidasina de Toxocara canis y Trichinella pseudospiralis presentaron diez epítopes similares a TPO y EPX, como posibles moléculas desencadenantes de una reactividad cruzada. Ningún virus presentó identidad con las proteínas humanas estudiadas. CONCLUSIÓN: Los antígenos TPO y EPX compartieron potenciales epítopes de reacción cruzada con proteínas bacterianas y nematodos, lo que sugiere que el mimetismo molecular podría ser un mecanismo que explique la relación entre infecciones y la urticaria/hipotiroidismo. Se necesitan trabajos in vitro que demuestren los resultados obtenidos en el análisis in silico.
