A tridimensional view of the organization of actin filaments in the central nervous system by use of fluorescent photooxidation

Cellular and subcellular organization and distribution of actin filaments have been studied with various techniques. The use of fluorescence photo-oxidation combined with phalloidin conjugates with eosin has allowed the examination of the precise cellular and subcellular location of F-actin. Correlative fluorescence light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy studies of F-actin distribution are facilitated with this method for morphological and physiological studies. Because phalloidin-eosin is smaller than other markers, this method allows the analysis of the three-dimensional location of F-actin with high-resolution light microscopy, three-d serial sections reconstructions, and electron tomography. The combination of selective staining and three-dimensional reconstructions provide a valuable tool for revealing aspects of the synaptic morphology that are not available when conventional electron microscopy is used. By applying this selective staining technique and three-dimensional imaging, we uncovered the structural organization of actin in the postsynaptic densities in physiological and pathological conditions.

El proceso asentaba en territorio de la vena toracoepigastrica en su sector abdominal, por debajo del reborde costal. [Evolution of the role of women in temporary emigration in Friuli-Venezia Giulia]. / Evoluzione del ruolo della donna nell'emigrazione temporanea in Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Changes in the characteristics of female migrants are analyzed using data from a 1982 survey in which 1,489 returning families in the Friuli region of Italy were interviewed. "The survey identifies three main periods of this temporary emigration: the first period shows first generation migrants, whose family structure is still traditional and women's role enters into conflict with the new socio-economic reality." The second period is characterized by an increase in the percentage of married female emigrants; in the third period an increase in the percentage of single females is noted. (summary in ENG, FRE)

Dermatitis por Hylesia nigricans. / Dermatitis by Hylesia nigricans

Se presenta un paciente de 32 anos, del sexo masculino, con maculas eritematosas, algunas de las cuales se acompanan de papulas y vesiculas. Las lesiones producen ardor y prurito intensos, y localizan en region lumbar y hemitorax izquierdos, brazo y axila del mismo lado. En los primeros momentos presento ademas escalofrios y fiebre. Se verifica el contacto con un ejemplar hembra de Hylesia nigricans Berg, mariposa perteneciente a la familia Hemileucidae. Se analiza la etiopatogenia y se enumeran diversas alternativas en que dicho insecto, direta o indirectamente, en sus distintos estadios evolutivos, es capaz de provocar esta dermatitis

Diflucortolone valerate 0.1% in cream form was investigated in 50 patients with various inflammatory dermatoses. The results were very good in 82% of the cases, good in 8% and moderate in 10%.
