BACKGROUND: To compare clinical outcomes of trifocal intraocular lens in patients with and without prior history of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). METHODS: A retrospective study included patients who underwent bilateral cataract surgery and PanOptix trifocal intraocular lens (IOLs) implantation. Patients were grouped: Group A for patients with history of LASIK and Group B for patients without history of LASIK. Postoperative outcome measures comprised distance, intermediate, and near visual acuity, manifest refraction, defocus curve, contrast sensitivity, visual quality, patient satisfaction, and the rate of spectacle independence. RESULTS: A total of 288 eyes (144 patients) were included: 132 eyes in Group A and 156 eyes in Group B. At 6 months post-surgery, patients of both groups achieved a continuous satisfying visual acuity from 33 cm to distance. 73% of eyes in Group A and 75% of eyes in Group B were within ± 0.50 D of emmetropia (P > 0.05). The percentages of eyes within ± 1.00 D of emmetropia were 98% for Group A and 96% for Group B (P > 0.05). The total scores of satisfaction were 52.58 ± 3.46 for Group A and 53.23 ± 3.46 for Group B (P > 0.05). Most of patients (98% for Group A, 99% for Group B) were able to be spectacle independence for daily living. 53% of patients in Group A and 51% in Group B experiencd mild to moderate negative visual symptoms, which made it a little or moderate difficult to drive at night. CONCLUSIONS: Cataract patients with and without history of LASIK could safely undergo implantation of the PanOptix IOLs, which results in precise refractive outcomes and satisfactory visual acuity. Although contrast sensitivity decreased and some negative visual symptoms were observed, patients' satisfaction was generally high due to the high rate of spectacles independence. There were no statistically significant differences between the study groups.

Background: Neonatal respiratory failure (NRF) is a critical condition with high morbidity and mortality rates. This study aimed to develop a nomogram prediction model to early predict the risk of death in Chinese neonates with NRF. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on NRF neonates from 21 tertiary neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across 13 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province, China, from March 2019 to March 2022. NRF neonates from one random NICU were selected as the external validation set, while those from the remaining 20 NICUs were divided into the training set and the internal validation set at a 7:3 ratio. Death was the primary outcome. LASSO regression and multivariate logistic regression were used to identify the predictive factors from the training set and then the nomogram was constructed. Results: A total of 5387 neonates with NRF were included in the analysis. Among them, 3444 were in the training set, 1470 were in the internal validation set, and 473 were in the external validation set. The nomogram was constructed based on the eight predictors of the 1-min Apgar score, birth weight, gestational age, the relationship between birth weight and gestational age, mode of first respiratory support, inhaled nitric oxide, antenatal corticosteroids, and vasoactive drugs. The area under the curve of the nomogram in the training set, internal validation set, and external validation set was 0.763, 0.733, and 0.891, respectively. The P-values of the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness of fit test were 0.638, 0.273, and 0.253, respectively. Brier scores were 0.066, 0.072, and 0.037, respectively. The decision curve analysis demonstrated a significant net benefit in all cases. These data indicate the good performance of the nomogram. Conclusions: This nomogram can serve as a reference for clinicians to identify high-risk neonates early and reduce the incidence of neonatal mortality.

BACKGROUND: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) arise from the body's diffuse endocrine system. Coexisting primary adenocarcinoma of the colon and NETs of the duodenum (D-NETs) is a rare occurrence in clinical practice. The classification and treatment criteria for D-NETs combined with a second primary cancer have not yet been determined. CASE SUMMARY: We report the details of a case involving female patient with coexisting primary adenocarcinoma of the colon and a D-NET diagnosed by imaging and surgical specimens. The tumors were treated by surgery and four courses of chemotherapy. The patient achieved a favorable clinical prognosis. CONCLUSION: Coexisting primary adenocarcinoma of the colon and D-NET were diagnosed by imaging, laboratory indicators, and surgical specimens. Surgical resection combined with chemotherapy was a safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective treatment.

BACKGROUND: Parasitic diseases remain a serious public health problem in China. Health education aimed at disseminating health-related knowledge and promoting healthy behaviours, plays a crucial role in the prevention and control of parasitic diseases. This study aims to develop a tool to measure the parasitic disease health literacy of residents in China. METHODS: Scale development was based on qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative method included focus group discussions and Delphi consultations. A methodological design with multistage sampling and a pilot study was used to evaluate the questionnaire. The scale's reliability was tested using Cronbach's α and split-half reliability, while its construct validity was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis. The scale's passing score was determined using the receiver operating characteristic curve. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in six districts of the prefecture of Jiangsu and residents aged 14-69 years in the participating townships were randomly selected based on their location. RESULTS: The health literacy indicator system for parasitic diseases included 3 first-level, 9 s-level and 23 third-level indicators. The 23-item questionnaire demonstrated good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.774) and split-half reliability (Spearman-Brown coefficient = 0.778). The questionnaire's passing score was 60. A total of 990 valid questionnaires were collected from participants in three cities. The percentage of participants with health literacy regarding parasitic diseases was 15.8%. Their scores were influenced by age, income, employment, and educational level. CONCLUSIONS: Health literacy of parasitic diseases is an integrated indicator rather than just knowledge or behavior information. The correlation between knowledge and behavior is weak. The capacity for healthy behavior of parasitic disease is associated with the location and culture of the city. For neglected diseases, it is important for people to talk positively about their behaviors with a doctor.

Multiple research studies have demonstrated the efficacy of lactic acid bacteria in boosting both innate and adaptive immune responses. We have created a Lactococcus lactis variant that produces a modified combination protein with Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand and co-stimulator O × 40 ligand, known as HuFOLactis. The genetically modified variant was purposely created to activate T cells, NK cells, and DC cells in a laboratory setting. Furthermore, we explored the possibility of using the tumor-penetrating peptide iRGD to deliver HuFOLactis-activated immune cells to hard-to-reach tumor areas. Following brief stimulation with HuFOLactis, immune cell phenotypes and functions were assessed using flow cytometry. Confocal microscopy was employed to demonstrate the infiltrative and cytotoxic capabilities of iRGD-modified HuFOLactis-activated immune cells within tumor spheroids. The efficacy of iRGD modified HuFOLactis-activated immune cells against tumors was assessed in xenograft mouse models. HuFOLactis treatment resulted in notable immune cell activation, demonstrated by elevated levels of CD25, CD69, and CD137. Additionally, these activated immune cells showed heightened cytokine production and enhanced cytotoxicity against MKN45 cell lines. Incorporation of the iRGD modification facilitated the infiltration of HuFOLactis-activated immune cells into multicellular spheroids (MCSs). Additionally, immune cells activated by HuFOLactis and modified with iRGD, in combination with anti-PD-1 treatment, effectively halted tumor growth and prolonged survival in a mouse model of gastric cancer.

Imbalance of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses plays a crucial role in the progression of abdominal aortic aneurysms. ILF3, a known modulator of the innate immune response, is involved in cardiovascular diseases. This study aims to investigate the role of ILF3 in abdominal aortic aneurysm formation. Here, we use multi-omics analyzes, transgenic male mice, and multiplex immunohistochemistry to unravel the underlying involvement of ILF3 in abdominal aortic aneurysms. The results show that macrophage ILF3 deficiency attenuates abdominal aortic aneurysm progression, while elevated macrophage ILF3 exacerbates abdominal aortic aneurysm lesions. Mechanistically, we reveal that macrophagic ILF3 increases NF-κB activity by hastening the decay of p105 mRNA, leading to amplified inflammation in macrophages. Meanwhile, ILF3 represses the anti-inflammatory action by inhibiting the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway through facilitating the ILF3/eIF4A1 complex-mediated enhancement of Keap1 translational efficiency. Moreover, Bardoxolone Methyl treatment alleviates the severity of abdominal aortic aneurysm lesions in the context of elevated ILF3 expression. Together, our findings underscore the significance of macrophage ILF3 in abdominal aortic aneurysm development and suggest its potential as a promising therapeutic target for abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Grain appearance and nutritional quality are critical traits for rice marketing. However, how to simultaneously improve grain appearance (slender grain and low chalkiness) and nutritional quality (improved protein and amino acid contents) in rice remains a major challenge. Here, we show that knocking out rice isopropylmalate synthase genes OsIPMS1 and OsIPMS2 can improve both grain appearance and nutritional quality. We find that OsIPMS1 directly interacts with OsIPMS2 to form heterodimers. Meanwhile, we observe that OsIPMS1 and OsIPMS2 influence the expression of genes previously reported to be involved in the determination of grain size and nutritional quality in the developing panicles and grains. Furthermore, we show that Osipms1/2 double mutants exhibit significantly improved grain appearance and nutritional quality in polished rice in both the japonica (Wuyungeng 23) and indica (Huanghuazhan) varieties. Our findings indicate that OsIPMS is a useful target gene for breeding of rice varieties appealing for marketing and with health-benefiting properties.

An efficient and highly enantioconvergent and diastereoselective ternary catalysis in a one-pot process is reported, which represents an integrated strategy for the synthesis of atropisomeric hydrazides with defined vicinal central and axial chirality from readily available racemic α-amino-ynones, azodicarboxylates, and Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) carbonates. This method utilizes in situ-generated racemic pyrrolin-4-ones via hydroamination of racemic α-amino-ynones by AuCl catalysis as a novel and versatile C1 synthon, which engage commercially available azodicarboxylates to generate amination products in high yields and uniformly excellent enantioselectivities under the catalysis of a chiral phosphoric acid. Following amination, N-alkylation catalyzed by diastereoselective organocatalyst afforded axially chiral hydrazides with excellent diastereoselectivities (>98 : 2 dr). The synthetic utility of the amination products and axially chiral hydrazides was also demonstrated by their facile conversion to diverse molecules in high yields with excellent stereopurity. Density functional theory calculations were performed to understand the origin of diastereoselectivity.

BACKGROUND: The objective of antiviral therapy for chronic viral hepatitis B infection (CHB) is to achieve a functional cure. An important viral marker in the serum of patients with CHB is the serum hepatitis B core-related antigen (HBcrAg). However, there is limited research on HBcrAg in juvenile patients with CHB. In this study, we aimed to investigate the correlation between serum HBcrAg and other hepatitis B virus (HBV) markers in children with CHB and its predictive significance for prognosis during antiviral therapy. METHODS: A single-center retrospective study was conducted involving 79 children with CHB, aged between 0 and 16 years. All the children were treated with interferon [or combined nucleos(t)ide analogs] for 48 weeks. HBcrAg, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and HBV DNA were measured before treatment, and at 12 and 48 weeks after treatment. The enrolled children were classified into the seroclearance group and the nonseroclearance group based on the therapeutic outcome. RESULTS: HBsAg seroclearance was observed in 28 out of 79 patients and hepatitis B e antigen seroconversion without HBsAg seroclearance was observed in 14 out of 79 patients following the conclusion of the treatment, with baseline HBcrAg titer levels showing no statistical significance in both the seroclearance and nonseroclearance groups ( P  = 0.277). HBsAg and HBV DNA were positively correlated with HBcrAg in children with CHB ( R2  = 0.3289, 0.4388). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the decrease in HBcrAg at 12 weeks of treatment as a predictor of seroclearance at 48 weeks of treatment, exhibited a value of 0.77. CONCLUSION: A decrease in serum HBcrAg levels in children with hepatitis B serves as a prognostic indicator.

In an effort to develop the biomimetic chemistry of [FeFe]­hydrogenases for catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in aqueous environment, we herein report the integrations of diiron dithiolate complexes into carbon nanotubes (CNTs) through three different strategies and compare the electrochemical HER performances of the as-resulted 2Fe2S/CNT hybrids in neutral aqueous medium. That is, three new diiron dithiolate complexes [{(µ-SCH2)2N(C6H4CH2C(O)R)}Fe2(CO)6] (R = N-oxylphthalimide (1), NHCH2pyrene (2), and NHCH2Ph (3)) were prepared and could be further grafted covalently to CNTs via an amide bond (this 2Fe2S/CNT hybrid is labeled as H1) as well as immobilized noncovalently to CNTs via π-π stacking interaction (H2) or via simple physisorption (H3). Meanwhile, the molecular structures of 1-3 are determined by elemental analysis and spectroscopic as well as crystallographic techniques, whereas the structures and morphologies of H1-H3 are characterized by various spectroscopies and scanning electronic microscopy. Further, the electrocatalytic HER activity trend of H1 > H2 ≈ H3 is observed in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (pH = 7) through different electrochemical measurements, whereas the degradation processes of H1-H3 lead to their electrocatalytic deactivation in the long-term electrolysis as proposed by post operando analysis. Thus, this work is significant to extend the potential application of carbon electrode materials engineered with diiron molecular complexes as heterogeneous HER electrocatalysts for water splitting to hydrogen.

A series of piperine derivatives were designed and successfully synthesized. The antitumor activities of these compounds against 293 T human normal cells, as well as MDA-MB-231 (breast) and Hela (cervical) cancer cell lines, were assessed through the MTT assay. Notably, compound H7 exhibited moderate activity, displaying reduced toxicity towards non-tumor 293 T cells while potently enhancing the antiproliferative effects in Hela and MDA-MB-231 cells. The IC50 values were determined to be 147.45 ± 6.05 µM, 11.86 ± 0.32 µM, and 10.50 ± 3.74 µM for the respective cell lines. In subsequent mechanistic investigations, compound H7 demonstrated a dose-dependent inhibition of clone formation, migration, and adhesion in Hela cells. At a concentration of 15 µM, its inhibitory effect on Hela cell function surpassed that of both piperine and 5-Fu. Furthermore, compound H7 exhibited promising antitumor activity in vivo, as evidenced by significant inhibition of tumor angiogenesis and reduction in tumor weight in a chicken embryo model. These findings provide a valuable scientific foundation for the development of novel and efficacious antitumor agents, particularly highlighting the potential of compound H7 as a therapeutic candidate for cervical cancer and breast cancer.

BACKGROUND: Dysregulation of bile acids (BAs), as important signalling molecules in regulating lipid and glucose metabolism, contributes to the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, static BA profiles during fasting may obscure certain pathogenetic aspects. In this study, we investigate the dynamic alterations of BAs in response to an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) among children with NAFLD. METHODS: We recruited 230 subjects, including children with overweight/obesity, or complicated with NAFLD, and healthy controls. Serum BAs, 7-hydroxy-4-cholesten-3-one (C4) and fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) were quantified during OGTT. Clinical markers related to liver function, lipid metabolism and glucose metabolism were assessed at baseline or during OGTT. FINDINGS: Conjugated BAs increased while unconjugated ones decreased after glucose uptake. Most BAs were blunted in response to glucose in NAFLD (p > .05); only glycine and taurine-conjugated chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) and cholic acid (CA) were responsive (p < .05). Primary BAs were significantly increased while secondary BAs were decreased in NAFLD. C4 and FGF19 were significantly increased while their ratio FGF19/C4 ratio was decreased in NAFLD. The dynamic pattern of CDCA and taurine-conjugated hyocholic acid (THCA) species was closely correlated with glucose (correlation coefficient r = .175 and -.233, p < .05), insulin (r = .327 and -.236, p < .05) and c-peptide (r = .318 and -.238, p < .05). Among which, CDCA was positively associated with liver fat content in NAFLD (r = .438, p < .05). Additionally, glycochenodeoxycholic acid (GCDCA), CDCA and THCA were potential biomarkers to discriminate paediatric NAFLD from healthy controls and children with obesity. INTERPRETATION: This study provides novel insights into the dynamics of BAs during OGTT in paediatric NAFLD. The observed variations in CDCA and HCA species were associated with liver dysfunction, dyslipidaemia and dysglycaemia, highlighting their potential roles as promising diagnostic and therapeutic targets in NAFLD.

BACKGROUND: The clinical application of peptide vaccines in tumor immunotherapy holds significant promise. Peptide-based tumor vaccines are currently subject to certain limitations in clinical trials, including the challenge of inducing a sustained response from CD4+ T helper cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL), as well as human leukocyte antigen (HLA) restrictions. METHODS: Through the utilization of biological information methodology, a screening process was conducted to identify three potential long peptides that are specifically targeted by the MAGE-A4 antigen. The candidate long peptides were subjected to in vitro testing using human peripheral blood lymphocytes as samples to evaluate their immunogenicity and immune function. The antitumor properties and preliminary mechanism of the long peptide vaccine were investigated through the use of a mouse model designed for the prevention of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). RESULTS: Three predicted multi-epitope long peptides targeting MAGE-A4 have shown to have a strong immunogenicity, with a total positive rate of 72% across different HLA subtypes in Chinese populations. they can also increase the levels of the costimulatory factor CD137 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), activate T cells, and boost the cytotoxic activity. Results from an animal study have revealed that the long-peptide vaccine, both on its own and in combination with R848, has displayed impressive anti-tumor and target-specific capabilities. Moreover, it has the ability to increase the expression of effector memory T cells and central memory T cells. CONCLUSIONS: This study was the first to screen three multi-epitope long peptides targeting MAGE-A4 and assess their immunogenicity, immune function, and potential as adjuvant peptides. The results showed that the MAGE-A4 long peptide vaccine can be used as a novel immunoprophylaxis method to prevent TNBC. Moreover, the proposed development model is capable of screening multiple target antigens, which lead to its clinical application.

RESUMEN

Aim: In situ vaccination, a kind of therapeutic cancer vaccine, can be realized by radiotherapy and intratumoral immune injection. This study combines intratumoral injection, radiotherapy and PD-1 blockade for synergistic antitumor effect.Materials & methods: Patients with advanced solid tumors who are unresponsive or intolerant to standard treatment will be treated with hypofractionated radiotherapy, intratumoral injection of FOLactis, PD-1 blockade. The primary end point is to observe the efficacy and safety, with the secondary end point to evaluate abscopal effects and the correlation between the immunological rationale and efficacy.Discussion: The combined regimen will be utilized to trigger antitumor immunity and is expected to be feasible and effective and provide a novel option for the comprehensive treatment of cancer.Clinical Trial Registration: ChiCTR2200060660 (ChiCTR.gov.cn).

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prevalent and debilitating brain disorder that worsens progressively with age, characterized by cognitive decline and memory impairment. The accumulation of amyloid-beta (Aß) leading to amyloid plaques and hyperphosphorylation of Tau, resulting in intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), are primary pathological features of AD. Despite significant research investment and effort, therapies targeting Aß and NFTs have proven limited in efficacy for treating or slowing AD progression. Consequently, there is a growing interest in non-invasive therapeutic strategies for AD prevention. Exercise, a low-cost and non-invasive intervention, has demonstrated promising neuroprotective potential in AD prevention. Astrocytes, among the most abundant glial cells in the brain, play essential roles in various physiological processes and are implicated in AD initiation and progression. Exercise delays pathological progression and mitigates cognitive dysfunction in AD by modulating astrocyte morphological and phenotypic changes and fostering crosstalk with other glial cells. This review aims to consolidate the current understanding of how exercise influences astrocyte dynamics in AD, with a focus on elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying astrocyte remodeling. The review begins with an overview of the neuropathological changes observed in AD, followed by an examination of astrocyte dysfunction as a feature of the disease. Lastly, the review explores the potential therapeutic implications of exercise-induced astrocyte remodeling in the context of AD.

BACKGROUND: There are relatively few studies on continuing care of coronary heart disease (CHD), and its research value needs to be further clarified. AIM: To investigate the effect of continuous nursing on treatment compliance and side effect management in patients with CHD. METHODS: This is a retrospective study with patients from January 2021 to 2023. The study was divided into two groups with 30 participants in each group. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and Self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to assess patients' anxiety and depression, and medical coping questionnaire was used to assess patients' coping styles. The pelvic floor dysfunction questionnaire (PFDI-20) was used to assess the status of pelvic floor function, including bladder symptoms, intestinal symptoms, and pelvic symptoms. RESULTS: SAS score decreased from 57.33 ± 3.01before treatment to 41.33 ± 3.42 after treatment, SDS score decreased from 50.40 ± 1.45 to 39.47 ± 1.57. The decrease of these two indexes was statistically significant (P < 0.05). PFDI-20 scores decreased from the mean 16.83 ± 1.72 before treatment to 10.47 ± 1.3the mean after treatment, which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicate that pioneering research in continuous care of CHD has a positive impact on improving patients' treatment compliance, reducing anxiety and depression levels, and improving coping styles and pelvic floor functional status.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of Zhang and Zheng's InnovEyes (ZZ InnovEyes) strategy for optimizing outcomes of ray-tracing-guided laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) compared to the standard automated strategy. Methods: A total of 38 patients (71 eyes) undergoing therapeutic refractive surgery at Hangzhou MSK Eye Hospital were randomly assigned to the ZZ InnovEyes and automated groups using double-masked randomization. The study assessed visual acuity, refractive outcomes, and higher-order aberrations preoperatively and at 1-day, 2-week, 1-month, and 3-month follow-ups. Statistical analysis was done with Microsoft Excel and SPSS 19.0. Results: The exposure and control groups comprised 36 and 35 eyes, respectively. The ZZ InnovEyes group demonstrated significant advantages in manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE) correction compared to the automated approach group (0.13 ± 0.30 D vs 0.62 ± 0.40 D, p < 0.001), achieving 97.22% uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) of 20/16 or better compared to 85.71% in the automated group at the 3-month follow-up (p = 0.08), and achieving 50.00% UDVA of 20/12.5 or better compared to 28.57% in the automated group at the 3-month follow-up (p = 0.06). Loss lines from preoperative corrected distance visual acuity to postoperative UDVA were lower in the ZZ InnovEyes group (0.00%) than the automated group (8.57%; p = 0.07). Both groups exhibited similar astigmatism corrections and higher-order aberrations. Conclusion: The ZZ InnovEyes strategy, which incorporates manifest and wavefront refraction for ray-tracing-guided LASIK, demonstrated superior MRSE correction and potential advantages in visual acuity outcomes compared to the standard automated strategy. This study highlights the need for ongoing optimization and research in refractive surgery. Clinical Trial Registration Number: ChiCTR2300078709.

This paper utilizes the theory of quantum diffusion to analyze the electron probability and spreading width of a wavepacket on each layer in a two-dimensional (2D) coupled system with edge disorder, aiming to clarify the effects of edge disorder on the stability of the electron periodic oscillations in 2D coupled systems. Using coupled 2D square lattices with edge disorder as an example, we show that, the electron probability and wavepacket spreading width exhibit periodic oscillations and damped oscillations, respectively, before and after the wavepacket reaches the boundary. Furthermore, these electron oscillations exhibit strong resistance against disorder perturbation with a longer decay time in the regime of large disorder, due to the combined influences of ordered and disordered site energies in the central and edge regions. Finally, we numerically verified the universality of the results through bilayer graphene, demonstrating that this anomalous quantum oscillatory behavior is independent of lattice geometry. Our findings are helpful in designing relevant quantum devices and understanding the influence of edge disorder on the stability of electron periodic oscillations in 2D coupled systems.

Melanoma is a skin cancer originating from melanocytes. The global incidence rate of melanoma is rapidly increasing, posing significant public health challenges. Identifying effective therapeutic agents is crucial in addressing this growing problem. Natural products have demonstrated promising anti-tumor activity. In this study, a plant flavonoid, taxifolin, was screened using Weighted Correlation Network Analysis (WGCNA) in combination with the Connectivity Map (CMAP) platform. Taxifolin was confirmed to inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion ability of melanoma A375 and MV-3 cells by promoting apoptosis. Additionally, it suppressed the Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) process of melanoma cells. Cyber pharmacological analysis revealed that taxifolin exerts its inhibitory effect on melanoma through the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, specifically by downregulating the protein expression of p-PI3K and p-AKT. Notably, the addition of SC-79, an activator of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, reversed the effects of taxifolin on cell migration and apoptosis. Furthermore, in vivo experiments demonstrated that taxifolin treatment slowed tumor growth in mice without significant toxic effects. Based on these findings, taxifolin holds promise as a potential drug for melanoma treatment.
