RESUMEN
Myxopapillary ependymoma (MPE) is a primary tumor of the central nervous system (CNS), characteristically an indolent malignancy involving the spinal conus medullaris, Filum terminale or cauda equina. We present a rare case of MPE, recurrent in the pelvic soft tissue with eventual pleural and intra-pulmonary metastasis. Refractory to repeated gross resection, adjuvant radiotherapy, platinum-based chemotherapy and temozolomide exploitation of mutant somatic BRCA1 status with the addition of a poly (ADP-ribose); polymerase inhibitor (PARPi) in a novel combination regimen with olaparib-temozolomide (OT) has achieved stable radiological disease after 10 cycles.
RESUMEN
Stepping into the world of research can be an overwhelming task, especially for those with relatively little experience, such as medical students. This article aims to provide students with tips for writing and publishing in all fields. The 12 tips are as follows: (1) find your why; (2) play to your strengths and be realistic; (3) be well read; (4) revisit missed opportunities; (5) talk to the doctors around you; (6) broaden your horizons; (7) get to grips with the submission process early; (8) pay attention to the details; (9) remember that submission is not the end; (10) the process can't be rushed; (11) consider the alternative paths to presenting research; (12) start writing. This writing is derived from personal experience with supporting evidence and is not designed to be encyclopaedic, simply a reference to help students alleviate any concerns and begin their own journey into the world of research.

AIMS AND METHOD: There appears to be no research to date investigating patients' preferences for sociocultural characteristics or behavioural qualities of psychiatrists. We aimed to assess which are most important to patients. Patients (132) in community mental health teams across two sites (East Cornwall, East London) completed a questionnaire ranking the importance of different sociocultural characteristics and behaviours of psychiatrists. RESULTS: Patients cared more about age and gender than other characteristics. Four preferences (from a choice of ten) regarding behavioural qualities were clearly identified as important: explaining things clearly, dedication to personal treatment, being friendly and polite, and being up to date with medical knowledge. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Patients are fairly unconcerned about the age, gender, religion and social background of psychiatrists. Characteristics they care about most include communication skills, competence, dedication to personal treatment and friendliness. Explaining things clearly is particularly important. This indicates specific areas of improvement for training and further research.

Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a new provisional category in the 2016 World Health Organization (WHO) classification of lymphoid neoplasms, and its incidence is rising owing to increasing recognition of this complication of breast implant insertion. At a median of 10 years after implant insertion, the typical presenting features are sudden-onset breast swelling secondary to peri-implant effusion and less frequently mass-forming disease. Histologic features comprise pleomorphic cells expressing CD30 and negative anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) receptor, similar to systemic and cutaneous ALK-negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). The effusion-only subtype is generally indolent and curable with surgery, unlike the more aggressive mass-forming disease, for which systemic therapy is advocated. High clinical suspicion and pertinent use of radiologic and pathology modalities are essential for timely and accurate diagnosis of BIA-ALCL. Contemporary imaging techniques including US, mammography, breast MRI, CT, and PET/CT are routinely used in breast disease and lymphomas; however, the unique behavior of BIA-ALCL presents significant diagnostic and radiologic interpretative challenges, with numerous nuanced imaging features being pertinent, and current lymphoma staging and response guidelines are not easily applicable to BIA-ALCL. The authors evaluate available evidence in this evolving field; detail key indications, strengths, and limitations of the panoply of radiologic techniques for BIA-ALCL; and propose multiparametric imaging paradigms for management of the peri-implant effusion and mass-forming or advanced disease subtypes, with the goal of accurate optimal patient care. The authors also predict a future model of multimodal assessment using novel imaging and molecular techniques and define key research directions. ©RSNA, 2020.
