RESUMEN

Pancreatic carcinoma is one of the most aggressive visceral malignancies with lethal ending in 99% of cases. Although diagnostic methods make a great progress, the world epidemiologists consider this disease to be increasing. The main reason for this is probably the problem of making early diagnosis. Various diagnostic techniques including ultrasonography often make no difference between benign and malignant changes. The aim of this paper is to consider values of pancreatic functions under the control of ultrasound in a group of patients. The examination included patients with evident pancreatic changes. By cytopathologic analysis of the gathered material clear diagnosis was made. In most cases malignancy was established. The aim of diagnostic examination is to make diagnosis as early as possible, using minimal number of tests which should be the least invasive and traumatic for patients. As a diagnostic method ultrasonography is fast and simple which provides better chances for patients with pancreatic carcinoma.

RESUMEN

We review preliminary results obtained by use of this diagnostic procedure--hybridization in situ for diagnosis of human papilloma virus in bioptic material of anogenital tract in women. Of 11 examined bioptic specimens, we found positive hybridization signal on "test" groups HPV 6, 11 and HPV 16, 18. This is the first report on papilloma virus in women from the territory of Vojvodina.

RESUMEN

The Protocol of the multidisciplinary diagnostic treatment and follow-up of differentiated thyroid cancers, made in the Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica, is described. It is in use in this institution from 1990. It is in concordance with general oncology principles and follows the guidelines of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) concerning this problem.

RESUMEN

The objective of intraoperative histological diagnostics of thyroid gland diseases using the tissue freezing method is planning the appropriate surgical scope at the time of operation. This necessitates maximal diagnostic accuracy having in mind the fact that freezing changes the tissue structure resulting in numerous technical defects in the histological preparation. These defects can be eliminated by multiplying histomorphological criteria, accurate explanation of their significance and interdependency and by making a conclusion in the form of ex tempore diagnosis. We studied 88 cases of ex tempore diagnosed changes in the thyroid gland using 15 different morphological criteria. The adjustment of the metrics scale to arithmetic progression enabled us to use certain number of parametric tests. A universal approach along with non-parametric methods with highly significant results made it possible to evaluate histomorphological criteria which can be regularly used in intraoperative diagnostics of pathological changes in the thyroid gland.

RESUMEN

During an experiment in bitches, the ovaries were placed sub-peritoneally beneath the skin of the abdominal wall preserving the infundibulo-pelvic ligament. A year later a relaparotomy was performed. No alterations were evidenced in the ovaries placed either sub-peritoneally of beneath the skin. In 7 patients of less than 36 years of age, during radical hysterectomy performed for cervical carcinoma the ovaries were placed intraperitoneally at the level of the lower kidney pole, preserving the vascularisation of the infundibulo-pelvic ligament. In one patient a cystic degeneration occurred on the right side, while the ultrasound control did not reveal any pathology in the rest of the patients. A year later the total urine estrogen levels were within normal ranges.

RESUMEN

The authors describe a case of successful pregnancy in a patent with hereditary enymopenic methemoglobinemia. The course of pregnancy was followed up by the use of ultrasound and the control of CTG, estriol, and pregnanediol. No signs of the intrauterine fetal threat were noticed. The methemoglobin value in the mother's blood ranged from 6.4% at the beginning of pregnancy to 32% at delivery, going down to 2.2% on the third postpartal day. Its reduction was increased by 2.0 to 3.0 g of C vitamin a day throughout all the time of pregnancy. The use of drugs with reduction properties is contraindicated. Genetic analysis of both parents is imperative, because a homozygote newborn could suffer from convulsions. Under conditions of present-day perinatal supervision and adequate therapy, hereditary enzymopenic methemoglobinemia is no contraindication for the performance of the reproductive function.
