RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the technical accuracy, inheritance, and pathogenicity of small copy number variants (CNVs) detected by a targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based PGT-A platform. DESIGN: Retrospective observational study performed between 2020-2022. SUBJECTS: 12,157 patients who underwent clinical PGT-A performed by targeted NGS for whole chromosome and large segmental aneuploidies. EXPOSURE: An incidental finding was reported when a CNV gain/loss of at least three consecutive amplicons appeared in at least two embryos from the same IVF cycle. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The primary outcome measures were the specificity, incidence, inheritance, and pathogenicity of small CNVs detected by the PGT-A platform. Accuracy of the PGT-A platform CNV calls was assessed via concordance with the CNV calls (size and genomic location) on chromosomal microarray of the gamete provider(s). Parental origin of the CNV and pathogenicity classifications were also reported. RESULTS: In 75 of 12,157 unique PGT-A patients (0.62%;95%CI:0.5-0.8%), an incidental finding that met reporting criteria was identified. Chromosomal microarray follow-up was requested for all cases and results were received for one or both members of 65 reproductive couples. In all cases, one of the gamete providers was confirmed to have the CNV identified in the embryos (100.0%: N=65/65 95%CI:94.5-100). The identified CNV was of maternal origin in 34 cases (52.3%) and of paternal origin in 31 cases (47.7%). A significant correlation was identified between PGT-A-predicted CNV sizes and chromosomal microarray detected sizes (r=0.81) and genomic coordinates on parental DNA. Twenty-six (40%) of the CNVs were classified as benign/likely benign, 30 (46.2%) as a variant of uncertain significance (VUS), and 9 (13.8%) as pathogenic/likely pathogenic. CONCLUSION: Certain PGT-A platforms may enable the detection of inherited, small CNVs with extremely high specificity without prior knowledge of parental status. The majority of CNVs in this data set were confirmed to be benign/likely benign or a VUS; however, pathogenic/likely pathogenic CNVs associated with a broad range of phenotypic features may also be detected, although a reliable negative predictive value for small CNVs with current PGT-A technologies is unknown due to the many technical challenges.

RESUMEN

The female reproductive lifespan depends on egg quality, particularly euploidy. Mistakes in meiosis leading to egg aneuploidy are common, but the genetic landscape causing this is not well understood due to limited phenotypic data. We identify genetic determinants of reproductive aging via egg aneuploidy using a biobank of maternal exomes linked with maternal age and embryonic aneuploidy data. We found 404 genes with variants enriched in individuals with high egg aneuploidy rates and implicate kinesin protein family genes in aneuploidy risk. Experimental perturbations showed that motor domain variants in these genes increase aneuploidy in mouse oocytes. A knock-in mouse model validated that a specific variant in kinesin KIF18A accelerates reproductive aging and diminishes fertility. These findings suggest potential non-invasive biomarkers for egg quality, aiding personalized fertility medicine. One sentence summary: The study identifies novel genetic determinants of reproductive aging linked to egg aneuploidy by analyzing maternal exomes and demonstrates that variants in kinesin genes, specifically KIF18A , contribute to increased aneuploidy and accelerated reproductive aging, offering potential for personalized fertility medicine.

RESUMEN

ConspectusPorous frameworks possess high porosity and adjustable functions. The two features conjointly create sufficient interfaces for matter exchange and energy transfer within the skeletons. For crystalline porous frameworks, including metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs), their long-range ordered structures indeed play an important role in managing versatile physicochemical behaviors such as electron transfer or band gap engineering. It is now feasible to predict their functions based on the unveiled structures and structure-performance relationships. In contrast, porous organic frameworks (POFs) represent a member of the porous solid family with no long-range regularity. For the case of POFs, the randomly packed building units and their disordered connections hinder the electronic structural consistency throughout the entire networks. However, many investigations have demonstrated that the functions of POFs could also be designed and originated from their local motifs. In this Account, we will first provide an overview of the design and synthesis principles for porous aromatic frameworks (PAFs), which are a typical family of POFs with high porosity and exceptional stability. Specifically, the functions achieved by the specific design and synthesis of in-framework motifs will be demonstrated. This strategy is particularly intuitive to introduce desired functions to PAFs, owing to the exceptional tolerance of PAFs to harsh chemical treatments and synthetic conditions. The local structures can be either obtained by selecting suitable building units, sometimes with the aid of computational screening, or emerge as the product of coupling reactions during the synthetic process. Radical PAFs can be obtained by incorporating a persistent radical molecule as a building unit, and the rigid and porous framework may facilitate the formation of radical species by trapping spins in the organic network, which could avoid the delocalizing and recombining processes. Alternatively, radical motifs can also be formed during the formation of the framework linkages. The coupling reaction plays an important role in the construction of functional motifs like diacetylene. The highly porous, radical PAFs showed significant performance as anodes of lithium-ion batteries. To improve the charge transport within the framework, the building units and their connecting manner were cohesively considered, and the framework with a fully conjugated backbone was built up. In another case, the explicit product of the cross-coupling reaction ensured the precise assembly of two building units with electron donating and accepting abilities; therefore, the moving direction of photogenerated electrons was rationally controlled. Constructing a fully conjugated backbone or rationally designing a D-A system for charge transfer in porous frameworks introduced exciting properties for photovoltaic and photocatalysis, and their highly porous, stable frameworks improved their functional applications for perovskite solar cells and chemical productions. These investigations shed light on the designable combination of intrinsic functional motifs with highly porous organic frameworks for effective energy storage and conversion.

RESUMEN

Lightweight and high-strength insulation materials have important application prospects in the aerospace, metallurgical, and nuclear industries. In this study, a highly porous silica fiber reinforced phenolic resin matrix composite was prepared by vacuum impregnation and atmospheric drying using quartz fiber needled felt as reinforcement and anhydrous ethanol as a pore-making agent. The effects of curing agent content on the structure, composition, density, and thermal conductivity of the composite were studied. The mechanical properties of the composite in the xy direction and z direction were analyzed. The results showed that this process can also produce porous phenolic resin (PR) with a density as low as 0.291 g/cm3, where spherical phenolic resin particles are interconnected to form a porous network structure with a particle size of about 5.43 µm. The fiber-reinforced porous PR had low density (0.372~0.397 g/cm3) and low thermal conductivity (0.085~0.095 W/m·K). The spherical phenolic resin particles inside the composite were well combined with the fiber at the interface and uniformly distributed in the fiber lap network. The composite possessed enhanced mechanical properties with compressive strength of 3.5-5.1 MPa in the xy direction and appeared as gradual compaction rather than destruction as the strain reached 30% in the z direction. This research provides a lightweight and high-strength insulation material with a simple preparation process and excellent performance.

RESUMEN

Despite its existence for more than 80 years, the titanium industry is still challenged by massive carbon emissions, high production costs, and large resource waste. More than one hundred million tons of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag (TB-slag) has been discarded in China because of the difficulty of reutilization, which requires efficient titanium extraction and recovery technologies. This paper describes a low-cost, carbon-emission-free method for Ti extraction and oxygen evolution via molten oxide electrolysis (MOE) vacuum distillation. After a comprehensive analysis of the binding energies and activities of liquid metals, the highlights of our study are as follows. 1) Sb has the best preferential deposition of Ti among a series of high-Ti-affinitive liquid metal cathodes (Cu, Ni, Pb, Sn, and Sb). 2) The Ir anode was first used in TB-slag with IrO2 formed on its surface to protect it from further corrosion. 3) An alloy containing Ti and Ca can be obtained by MOE, and Ti and Ca metals can be refined by further vacuum distillation. 4) A closed loop is formed in the overall process owing to the recyclable Sb cathode and continuous feeding of TB-slag into the electrolyte. This simple, low-cost, and environmentally friendly method can realize the efficient utilization of Ti resources and achieve carbon neutrality.

RESUMEN

In recent years, the considerable potential of endophytic bacteria and fungi as prolific producers of exopolysaccharides (EPSs) have attracted interest. In this study, 56 endophytes were isolated from Cyclocarya paliurus, and the secondary metabolites of EPSs were extracted from Monascus purpureus, Penicillium citrinum and Aspergillus versicolor, screened, and named MPE, PCE and AVE, respectively. In this work, the physicochemical properties and antioxidant activities of three EPSs, their cell proliferation activity on IEC-6 and RAW264.7 were investigated. The three EPSs were mainly composed of neutral sugar and differ in microstructure. However, MPE had a loose structure, and PCE exhibited a dense and sheet-like structure. In addition, the three EPSs performed ordinary antioxidant activity in vitro but showed excellent cell proliferation activity on IEC-6 and RAW264.7. The cell proliferation activity of PCE was 1.4-fold that of the controls at a concentration of 800 µg/mL on IEC-6, and MPE exhibited 1.3-fold increase on RAW264.7. This study provided scientific evidence and insights into the application of endophytes as a novel plant resource possessing huge application potential.

RESUMEN

Background: Patient satisfaction survey serves as a pivotal tool in evaluating the quality of healthcare services. China's nationwide standard patient satisfaction measurement tool was introduced in 2019. This study aimed to assess the model fit of the national standard outpatient satisfaction questionnaire in a tertiary hospital and evaluate the outpatient satisfaction levels using this tool. Method: A cross-sectional survey using the national outpatient satisfaction questionnaire was conducted via message links to all hospital outpatients who registered between April and July 2022. The data collected underwent descriptive analysis, comparative analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results: A total of 6,012 valid responses were received and analyzed during this period, with 52.9% of the participants being women. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model showed a good fit and identified doctor communication as having a positive effect and environmental factors as having a negative effect on outpatients' satisfaction, with standardized regression weights of 0.46 and 0.42, respectively. Despite the remarkably high satisfaction levels, patients' recommendation for using the services of this hospital surpassed the overall evaluation and total satisfaction scores. Conclusion: A disparity was identified between the expectations and real experiences of outpatients, leading to some extent of dissatisfaction. To enhance satisfaction levels, the hospital should improve the communication skills of all clinical staff, simplify the environment layout for first-time visitors, and manage patient overloads.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The Grit scale (GS-12) is a widely used rating scale that assess passion and perseverance. The present study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of simple Chinese Version of Grit Scale (GS-SC) among Chinese adolescents. METHODS: Seven hundred one primary school students were recruited as Sample 1. Item analysis and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were conducted on Sample 1 to preliminarily examine the structure of the scale. Sample 2 consisted of 5,384 primary school students. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and verification of reliability and validity were conducted on Sample 2 to establish a formal scale and further verify the psychometric properties by applying item response theory (IRT). RESULTS: EFA and CFA revealed a clear two-factor structure. The results demonstrated that the Simplified Chinese Version of Grit Scale had adequate internal consistency and re-test reliability. GS-CS also showed good criterion-validity with personality, self-control, effort regulation and academic achievement. Furthermore, all the items show a acceptable fit to the GRM and have good discrimination (ranging from 2.13 to 3.45) and moderate difficulty(ranging from-1.58 to 0.95). CONCLUSIONS: The reliability and validity of the GS-SC are good, indicating that the scale can be used as an effective tool for measuring the grit of primary school students in China.

RESUMEN

Inclusions are one of the important factors affecting the cleanliness of molten steel. The current optimization of inclusion removal methods mainly focuses on promoting inclusions to float to the slag-steel interface so that the inclusions can be absorbed and removed by the refining slag. However, the research on the floating removal of inclusions cannot be carried out directly in the ladle, so methods such as mathematical models and physical models were developed. This article uses silicone oil to simulate the slag layer; polypropylene particles; and aluminum oxide particles to simulate inclusions to establish a water model experiment. By changing the viscosity of silicone oil and the diameter of particles, the factors affecting the movement of inclusions at the slag-steel interface were explored. Based on the water model, a mathematical model of the floating behavior of inclusions at the slag-steel interface was constructed, and parameters such as particle diameter and interfacial tension in the water model experiment were studied by the mathematical model for calculation. Both the mathematical model and the water model experimental results show that after the viscosity of silicone oil increases from 0.048 Pa·s to 0.096 Pa·s, the dimensionless displacement and terminal velocity of the particles decreases. When the diameter of the same particle increases, the dimensionless displacement and terminal velocity increases. The dimensionless displacement of polypropylene particles of the same diameter is larger than that of aluminum oxide particles, and the terminal velocity is smaller than that of aluminum oxide particles. This is attributed to the better overall three-phase wettability of polypropylene particle. When the liquid level increases, the dimensionless displacement and terminal velocity of particles under the same conditions show only slight differences (less than 10%).

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Lipoprotein(a) (Lp[a]) is associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI). However, the mechanism underlying this association has yet to be fully elucidated. OBJECTIVES: This multicenter study aimed to investigate whether association between Lp(a) and MI risk is reinforced by the presence of low-attenuation plaque (LAP) identified by coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). METHODS: In a derivation cohort, a total of 5,607 patients with stable chest pain suspected of coronary artery disease who underwent CCTA and Lp(a) measurement were prospectively enrolled. In validation cohort, 1,122 patients were retrospectively collected during the same period. High Lp(a) was defined as Lp(a) ≥50 mg/dL. The primary endpoint was a composite of time to fatal or nonfatal MI. Associations were estimated using multivariable Cox proportional hazard models. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 8.2 years (Q1-Q3: 7.2-9.3 years), the elevated Lp(a) levels were associated with MI risk (adjusted HR [aHR]: 1.91; 95% CI: 1.46-2.49; P < 0.001). There was a significant interaction between Lp(a) and LAP (Pinteraction <0.001) in relation to MI risk. When stratified by the presence or absence of LAP, Lp(a) was associated with MI in patients with LAP (aHR: 3.03; 95% CI: 1.92-4.76; P < 0.001). Mediation analysis revealed that LAP mediated 73.3% (P < 0.001) for the relationship between Lp(a) and MI. The principal findings remained unchanged in the validation cohort. CONCLUSIONS: Elevated Lp(a) augmented the risk of MI during 8 years of follow-up, especially in patients with LAP identified by CCTA. The presence of LAP could reinforce the relationship between Lp(a) and future MI occurrence.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Cardiac cycle morphological changes can accelerate plaque growth proximal to myocardial bridging (MB) in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). OBJECTIVE: To assess coronary CT angiography (CCTA)-based vascular radiomics for predicting proximal plaque development in LAD MB. METHODS: Patients with repeated CCTA scans showing LAD MB without proximal plaque in index CCTA were included from Jinling Hospital as development set. They were divided into training and internal testing in an 8:2 ratio. Patients from 4 other tertiary hospitals were set as external validation set. The endpoint was proximal plaque development of LAD MB in follow-up CCTA. Four vascular radiomics models were built: MB centerline (MB CL), proximal MB CL (pMB CL), MB cross section (MB CS), and proximal MB CS (pMB CS), whose performances were evaluated using area under the curve (AUC), integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) and net reclassification improvement (NRI). RESULTS: 295 patients were included in the development (n=192; median age, 54±11 years; 137 men) and external validation sets (n=103; median age, 57±9 years; 57 men). The pMB CS vascular radiomics model exhibited higher AUCs in training, internal test, and external sets (AUC=0.78, 0.75, 0.75) than the clinical and anatomical model (all p<0.05). Integration of the pMB CS vascular radiomics model significantly raised the AUC of the clinical and anatomical model from 0.56 to 0.75 (p=0.002), along with enhanced NRI (0.76 [0.37-1.14], p<0.001) and IDI (0.17 [0.07-0.26], p<0.001) in the external validation set. CONCLUSION: The CCTA-based pMB CS vascular radiomics model can predict plaque development in LAD MB.

RESUMEN

The development of efficient and recyclable photocatalysts for organic synthesis is of great interest. This study presents the synthesis of triphenylamine-based porous aromatic frameworks (TPA-PAFs) in an alternating donor-acceptor (D-A) manner. The light absorption range and the optical band gaps of TPA-PAFs are effectively tuned by changing the electron acceptor units, which further determine their photocatalytic properties. As a result, TPA-PAFs exhibit excellent catalytic performance for the photosynthesis of benzimidazoles in high yields (up to 99%), broad substrate scope (18 examples), and good recyclability (up to 10 cycles). This work provides a feasible approach toward the facile design and synthesis of efficient and stable PAF-based photocatalysts, which further broadens the application of PAFs catalytic materials in photocatalytic organic synthesis.

RESUMEN

Urban water bodies can effectively mitigate the urban heat island effect and thus enhance the climate resilience of urban areas. The cooling effect of different water bodies varies, however, the cooling heterogeneity of different sections of a single watercourse or river network is rarely considered. Based on various satellite images, geospatial approaches and statistical analyses, our study confirmed the cooling heterogeneity from spatial and seasonal perspectives of the Suzhou Outer-city River in detail in the urban area of Suzhou, China. The cooling effect of the river was observed in the daytime in four seasons, and it is strongest in summer, followed by spring and autumn, and weakest in winter. The combination of the width of the river reach, the width and the NDVI value of the adjacent green space can explain a significant part of the cooling heterogeneity of the different river sections in different seasons. Land surface temperature (LST) variations along the river are more related to the width of the river reach, but the variations of the cooling distance are more related to the adjacent green space. The cooling effect of a river reach could be enhanced if it is accompanied by green spaces. In addition, the cooling effect of a looping river is stronger on the inside area than on the outside. The methodology and results of this study could help orient scientific landscape strategies in urban planning for cooler cities.

RESUMEN

Lepidium meyenii Walp., also known as the "Peruvian national treasure", is a popular functional food in the daily lives of Peruvian people due to its bioactive with main polysaccharides. However, studies on polysaccharides isolated from Lepidium meyenii were few. Two new highly heterogeneous polysaccharides, MCP-1a and MCP-2b, were isolated and purified from the tuber of Lepidium meyenii. The structure characterization revealed that MCP-1a primarily consisted of D-Glc and had a molecular weight of 6.6 kDa. Its backbone was composed of 1,4,6-α-D-Glc, while branches feature T-α-L-Ara, 1,5-α-L-Ara, and T-α-D-Glc attached to the O-6 positions. MCP-2b was a rare arabinogalactan with a molecular weight of 49.4 kDa. Interestingly, the backbone of MCP-2b was composed of 1,6-ß-D-Gal, 1,3,6-ß-D-Gal with a few 1,3-ß-D-GlcpA-4-OMe units inserted. Side chains of MCP-2b were mainly composed of 1,3-ß-D-Gal, T-ß-D-Gal, T-α-L-Ara, 1,5-α-L-Ara, with trace amounts of 1,4-ß-D-Glc and T-ß-D-Glc. The bioactivity assay results revealed that MCP-1a and MCP-2b increased the release of NO, IL-1ß, TNF-α, and IL-6 from RAW 264.7 cells at concentrations ranging from 50 µg/mL to 400 µg/mL. Furthermore, MCP-1a and MCP-2b could promote the expression of key transcription factors (IκB-α, p-IκB-α, p65, and p-p65) in the NF-κB pathway, indicating that MCP-1a and MCP-2b had potential immunomodulatory activities.

RESUMEN

Constructing stable and efficient photocatalysts for H2O2 production is of great importance and is challenging. In this study, the synthesis of three photoactive cyclooctatetrathiophene (COTh)-based porous aromatic frameworks (COTh-PAFs) in an alternating donor-acceptor (D-A) fashion is presented. In combination with a triazine-derived electron acceptor, PAF-363 exhibits high efficiency for the photosynthesis of H2O2 with production rates of 11733 µmol g-1 h-1(with sacrificial agent) and 3930 µmol g-1 h-1 (without sacrificial agent) from water and oxygen under visible light irradiation. Experimental results and theoretical calculations reveal that the charge transfer positions and the O2 adsorption sites in PAF-363 are both concentrated on COTh fragments, which facilitate the H2O2 production through the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) pathway. This work highlights that the rational design of COTh-PAFs with consideration of D-A direction, charge transfer positions, and O2 adsorption sites provides a feasible access to efficient H2O2 production photocatalysts.

RESUMEN

Capsule polysaccharide is an important virulence factor of Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae), which protects bacteria against the host immune response. A promising therapeutic approach is using phage-derived depolymerases to degrade the capsular polysaccharide and expose and sensitize the bacteria to the host immune system. Here we determined the cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of a bacteriophage tail-spike protein against K. pneumoniae K64, ORF41 (K64-ORF41) and ORF41 in EDTA condition (K64-ORF41EDTA), at 2.37 Å and 2.50 Å resolution, respectively, for the first time. K64-ORF41 exists as a trimer and each protomer contains a ß-helix domain including a right-handed parallel ß-sheet helix fold capped at both ends, an insertion domain, and one ß-sheet jellyroll domain. Moreover, our structural comparison with other depolymerases of K. pneumoniae suggests that the catalytic residues (Tyr528, His574 and Arg628) are highly conserved although the substrate of capsule polysaccharide is variable. Besides that, we figured out the important residues involved in the substrate binding pocket including Arg405, Tyr526, Trp550 and Phe669. This study establishes the structural and functional basis for the promising phage-derived broad-spectrum activity depolymerase therapeutics and effective CPS-degrading agents for the treatment of carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae K64 infections.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Transvaginal oocyte retrieval is frequently followed by adverse events related to anesthesia and the procedure. Some research showed that transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) can relieve intraoperative pain and postoperative nausea. OBJECTIVE: This study examined whether TEAS can alleviate pain and relieve adverse symptoms after oocyte retrieval. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS: Altogether 128 patients were randomly divided into the TEAS group and the mock TEAS group. The two groups received a 30-minute-long TEAS or mock TEAS treatment that began 30 min after oocyte retrieval. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The primary outcome was the visual analog scale (VAS) pain score. Secondary outcomes were pressure pain threshold, McGill score, pain rating index (PRI), present pain intensity (PPI), VAS stress score, VAS anxiety score, and postoperative adverse symptoms. RESULTS: The baseline characteristics of the two groups were comparable (P > 0.05). The VAS pain scores of the TEAS group were lower than those of the mock TEAS group at 60 and 90 min after oocyte retrieval (P < 0.05). The McGill score, PRI and PPI in the TEAS group were significantly lower than those in the control group at 60 min after oocyte retrieval (P < 0.05). However, the two groups had equivalent beneficial effects regarding the negative emotions, such as nervousness and anxiety (P > 0.05). The TEAS group was superior to the mock TEAS group for relieving postoperative adverse symptoms (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: TEAS treatment can relieve postoperative pain and postoperative adverse symptoms for patients undergoing oocyte retrieval. RESUMEN

Recently, it has been reported that MXene is a promising pseudocapacitive material for energy storage, primarily due to its intercalation mechanism. However, Ti3C2Tx MXenes face challenges, such as inadequate layer spacing and low specific capacity, which greatly hinder their potential as anode materials for sodium storage. In this study, MXene was doped with sulfur to create a three-dimensional porous structure that resulted in an increased layer spacing. The sulfur-doped porous MXene (SPM) demonstrated exceptional performance as sodium ion battery anodes, with a capacity of 335.2 mA h g-1 after 490 cycles at 2 A g-1 and a long-term cycling performance of 256.1 mA h g-1 even after 2480 cycles at 5 A g-1. It is worth noting that the porous structure formed after sulfur-doping exhibits superior sodium storage performance compared to previously reported MXene-based electrodes. This highlights the feasibility of the structural construction strategy, offering an effective solution for energy storage and conversion applications.

RESUMEN

Herein, a series of water-soluble supramolecular inclusion complexes (ICs) probes were prepared using cyclodextrins (CDs) and fraxetin (FRA) to detect nicotine (NT) with high selectivity in vitro and in vivo. The FRA/CD ICs prepared through the saturated solution method exhibited excellent water solubility, stability, and biocompatibility. A clear host-guest inclusion model was provided by the theoretical calculations. The investigation revealed that NT was able to enter into the cavities of FRA/ß-CD IC and FRA/γ-CD IC, and further formed charge transfer complexes with FRA in the CD cavities, resulting in a rapid and highly selective fluorescence-enhanced response with the lowest detection limits of 1.9 × 10-6 M and 9.7 × 10-7 M, and the linear response ranged from 0.02 to 0.3 mM and 0.01-0.05 mM, respectively. The IC probes showed good anti-interference performance to common interferents or different pH environments, with satisfactory reproducibility and repeatability of response to NT. Furthermore, the potentiality of the probes was confirmed through fluorescence imaging experiments using human lung cancer cells and the lung tissue of mice. This study offers a fresh perspective for detecting NT in environmental and biomedical analysis.

RESUMEN

Cladophora rupestris is ubiquitous in many kinds of waterbodies, and C. rupestris biomass can serve as a carrier for adsorbing and transferring heavy metals. Batch experiments and characterization were performed. Results showed that the organic frameworks of C. rupestris (CROF) had a specific surface area of 2.58 m2/g and an external surface area of 2.06 m2/g. Many mesopores were present in CROF, mainly distributed in 2.5-7.5 nm. The zeta potentials were within the range of - 4.46 to - 13.98 mV in the tested pH of 2.0-9.0. CROF could effectively adsorb Pb2+ in large pH range. The maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) of Pb2+ on CROF was 15.02 mg/g, and 97% of Pb2+ was adsorbed onto CROF after 25 min. CROF had a preferential adsorption of Pb2+. The protein secondary structures and carbon skeletons of CROF all worked in adsorption. The main Pb2+ adsorption mechanisms were pore filling, electrostatic attraction, Pb-π interaction, and surface complexation. Therefore, it is valuable as a biosorbent for the removal of Pb2+ from waterbodies.
