Background: Given the rapid advancement in technology, the Internet has grown to play a significant role in the field of healthcare. Individuals can now access a profusion of easily available materials for self-management of their health. The purpose of this review is to describe Web/App-based interventions that are primarily or secondarily designed to improve mental health literacy (MHL) and to investigate the effectiveness of online interventions for improving mental health. Materials and Method: A scoping review was conducted by searching five databases: PsycINFO, EMBASE, PubMed, CINAHL, and Web of Science. The search was limited to peer-reviewed journals published in English between 2000 and 2022. Studies focusing on enhancements of MHL or its constituent components were included. Results: Twenty-four studies met the inclusion criteria. The interventions primarily targeted patients or individuals exhibiting symptoms of mental disorders, with a higher representation of female participants. All the interventions yielded positive outcomes. The included studies were categorized according to three themes: knowledge, attitude, and self-care skills. Although numerous studies have focused on knowledge improvement, research on interventions targeting self-care skills is scarce. Furthermore, existing literature on knowledge enhancement is limited in terms of the coverage of risk factors. Conclusion: This review indicates gaps in web/app interventions including limited evidence on risk factors, inconsistent help-seeking awareness, and inadequate self-care skills training. Further research is critically needed to address these deficiencies and promote comprehensive MHL.

OBJECTIVE: The EQ-VAS is an important component of the EQ-5D questionnaire. However, there is limited evidence comparing its performance to the EQ-5D utility score, which restricts its use in the population. This study aimed to EQ-5D-5L utility score and EQ-visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS) in primary care patients in Hong Kong (HK). METHODS: Secondary data analysis was performed on the data collected from a cross-sectional survey to investigate patient engagement in HK. Participants were recruited through random sampling from a single general outpatient clinic. Trained investigators conducted face-to-face interviews with all eligible patients attending the clinic. Patients who were: 1) ≥ 18 years old, 2) have visited the clinic at least once in the last 6 months, 3) no cognitive problems, and 4) can speak and understand the local language. Pearson correlation was used to explore the association between EQ-5D utility and EQ-VAS score. Ordinary least squares regression and heteroscedastic Tobit regression models were adopted to analyze the EQ-VAS and EQ-5D utility data, respectively. RESULTS: The analysis included data from 1,004 responses (response rate = 65%). Around 52.7% of participants were female, 25.9% completed tertiary or above education, and 75.1% living with chronic disease. The mean EQ-5D utility and EQ-VAS score were 0.92 (SD = 0.13) and 72.27 (SD = 14.69), respectively. A significant association was found between EQ-5D utility and EQ-VAS score, with coefficients ranging from 0.335 (participants who divorced) to 0.744 (participants living alone). Around 98.5% reported having no problems with 'Self-care', followed by 'Usual activities' (96.3%), 'Mobility' (91.5%) and 'Anxiety/depression' (79.9%). The correlation between EQ-VAS score and EQ-5D utility was positive for each dimension of the EQ-5D instrument (correlation coefficients ranged between 0.211 and 0.623). Age strongly influenced the magnitude and trajectory of EQ-VAS score and utility, as observed in the changes. The regression model showed that 'Mobility', 'Pain/discomfort', and 'Anxiety/depression' have considerable influence on EQ-VAS score. CONCLUSIONS: This study compared the EQ-5D utility score and EQ-VAS in HK primary care setting. Although heterogeneity existed, the EQ-VAS and utility score are significantly correlated and reliable for evaluating health-related quality of life in this population.

In this study, the terahertz (THz) spectra of C3S were obtained in the 0.4-2.3 THz frequency range using different sample preparation methods. In the spectra, a sharp absorption peak of C3S was found at 2.03 THz. Under controlled conditions, the mass ratio of C3S was the most critical factor affecting the strength of the absorption peak, and the absorption coefficient followed the Beer-Lambert law, exhibiting a linear relationship with the mass ratio of C3S. The intrinsic dielectric constants of C3S and polyethylene (PE) were calculated in accordance with the Maxwell-Garnett (MG), Bruggeman (BM), and Landau-Lifshitz-Loovenga (LLL) models, using two-phase composite samples. The results show that the LLL model had the highest accuracy.

Neuroblastoma is an important problem in children. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) exhibit important roles in tumorigenicity of neuroblastoma. However, the role and mechanism of lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 16 (SNHG16) in neuroblastoma tumorigenicity remain poorly understood. Forty-six neuroblastoma samples and 28 normal tissues were harvested. The levels of SNHG16, microRNA-15b-5p (miR-15b-5p), and phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 1 (PRPS1) were detected via quantitative reverse transcription PCR or western blot. Cell proliferation as well as cycle distribution were measured via 3-(4, 5-Dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2, 5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide or flow cytometry. Cell metastasis was investigated via epithelial-mesenchymal transition or transwell assay. The target relationship of miR-15b-5p and SNHG16 or PRPS1 was explored via starBase and dual-luciferase reporter assay. The role of SNHG16 in neuroblastoma in vivo was analyzed using a xenograft model. We found SNHG16 and PRPS1 levels were increased in neuroblastoma tissues and cells. SNHG16 knockdown inhibited cell proliferation, increased the cell cycle distribution at G0/G1 phase, and decreased the cells at S phase. SNHG16 overexpression caused an opposite effect. SNHG16 silence suppressed neuroblastoma cell metastasis. PRPS1 knockdown constrained cell proliferation and metastasis and regulated cell cycle distribution. miR-15b-5p was sponged by SNHG16 and directly targeted PRPS1. miR-15b-5p knockdown or PRPS1 overexpression mitigated the influence of SNHG16 silence on cell cycle, proliferation, and metastasis. SNHG16 knockdown reduced xenograft tumor growth. In conclusion, SNHG16 downregulation suppressed neuroblastoma tumorigenicity by regulating cell cycle, proliferation, and metastasis via miR-15b-5p/PRPS1 axis.

As one of the major groups of small post-translationally modified peptides, the CLV3/EMBRYO SURROUNDING REGION-RELATED (CLE)-like (CLEL) peptide family has been reported to regulate root growth, lateral root development and plant gravitropic responses in Arabidopsis thaliana. In this study, we identified 12 CLEL genes in Populus trichocarpa and performed a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis on these genes. Among them, five P. trichocarpa CLELs (PtrCLELs) were revised with new gene models. All of these PtrCLEL proteins were structurally similar to the A. thaliana CLELs (AtCLELs), including an N-terminal signal peptide, a conserved C-terminal 13-amino-acid CLEL motif and a variable intermediate region. In silico and quantitative real-time PCR analyses showed that PtrCLELs were widely expressed in various tissues, including roots, leaves, buds and stems. Exogenous application of chemically synthesized PtrCLEL peptides resulted in wavy or curly roots and reduced lateral root formation in A. thaliana. Moreover, germinating Populus deltoides seedlings on a growth medium containing these peptides caused the roots to thicken and to form abnormal lateral roots, in many cases in clusters. Anatomical and histological changes in thickened roots were further investigated by treating Populus 717 cuttings with the PtrCLEL10 peptide. We observed that root thickening was mainly due to an increased number of cells in the epidermis, hypodermis and cortex. The results of our study suggested that PtrCLEL and AtCLEL genes encode proteins with similar protein structures, sequences of peptide motif and peptide activities on developing roots. The activities of PtrCLEL peptides in root development were species-dependent.
