RESUMEN

When the use of root canal retreatment and apical surgery experiences difficulty in treating endodontic diseases, intentional replantation is an optional clinical technique used to retain the tooth. A 28-year-old female complained of chewing discomfort at the mandibular second molar after undergoing root canal treatment 3 month ago. History record and radiographic examination revealed that a C-shaped root canal system was filled with gutta-percha in the mandibular second molar. A radiolucency area existed at the root furcal area with a thin canal wall in the distal and mesial roots. Intentional replantation was used to treat this tooth. The clinical and radiographic results showed that intentional replantation and nano-biomaterial application facilitated infection control, tooth retention, and periodontal tissue regeneration.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To assess the association between TNF-α-308 polymorphism and periodontitis in Chinese Han population. METHODS: Articles published between 1994 and 2011 were searched in the fulltext database of CNKI, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Wanfang Database and PubMed. Case-control studies on TNF-α-308 polymorphism and periodontitis were searched up to Feb.,2011, including articles in Chinese and in English. Meta analysis was performed to evaluate the prevalence of Allele 2 between case group and control group. RESULTS: Five studies were entered into Meta analysis, with 494 cases and 501 controls . No significant heterogeneity was found among the studies(P=0.38); the pooled OR value of allele 2 was 2.12(95% CI 1.57-2.86), with significant difference(P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Meta analysis showed that TNF-α-308 polymorphism was associated with periodontitis in Chinese Han population.

RESUMEN

MTA is rarely applied in the repair of root fractured section. A case of maxillary second premolar which fractured ten years ago had been connected with MTA in this article and the cone beam CT was used to evaluate the treatment effect.

RESUMEN

A disintegrin and metalloproteinase 10 (ADAM10) was identified as a key protease in the ectodomain shedding of various substrates, such as Notch1 protein, ErbB2 and E-cadherin, which are important in the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The aim of this study was to investi-gate the role of ADAM10 in NSCLC metastasis. We characterized the expression of ADAM10 and Notch1 in human NSCLC tissues in vivo. Immunohistochemical analysis indicated that ADAM10 expression was significantly increased in the NSCLC tissues, particularly in the metastatic tissues. Futhermore, ADAM10 overexpression positively correlated with Notch1 expression in the NSCLC tissues. The in vitro downregulation of ADAM10 expression using ADAM10 short hairpin RNA (shRNA) reduced the migration and invasion of NSCLC cells. We present further evidence that ADAM10 promotes NSCLC cell migration and invasion via the activation of the Notch1 signaling pathway. Taken together, our results suggest that ADAM10 may serve as a potential target for the therapeutic intervention of NSCLC metastasis. The data provided in this study may aid in the further understanding of the function of ADAM10 in the progression of NSCLC and open new perspectives for the diagnosis and treatment of NSCLC.
